Hey, I'm back home It was a great trip, but it does feel good to finally unpack.

Penny, "jistoric" isn't a word--but 'h' is next to 'j' on the keyboard . And the Blackberry keys are tiny, which I why I don't do a lot of posting when I don't have a computer handy.

I'm ready to get serious about the journey now. Despite the annual post-Labor Day crush of work that will greet me as soon as I hit the office tomorrow, I'm feeling calmer about life than I have in a very long time!

Judy - I'm glad you're feeling cool, calm and collected after your trip. That's so funny about your typo - I googled it and there are over 2,200 hits for "jistoric"! So you're not the only one who made this typo - I can imagine how hard it is to use that tiny keypad on your Blackberry.

My scale is still stuck at 205 but I've started doing more exercise and hope that makes a difference. My new yoga class starts next Monday, so I'm looking forward to that .

Yaay! My first truly lazy day in a month, it seems! Puttering around in my jammies all day, reading, surfing the net, listening to the radio but not doing much of anything. I'll regret it on Sunday, when suddenly I'll feel very rushed, but whatever, today feels great.

I went to NYC on Friday for a meeting, and took the train back at the end of the day. I'm still a little spooked on Sept. 11--I worked in Lower Manhattan in 2001--so it was an odd-feeling day.

I have a new "pocket diet journal," which I want to use thru the end of the year. Keeping a log on my Blackberry was okay, but it wasn't satisfying somehow. I will face the scale on Sunday morning and start afresh.

Penny, I hope your yoga class is enjoyable! I'll be going to the grocery store soon, and will get the ingredients for a mango lassi My poor kitchen is pretty bare, since I've been away most of the past three weeks. It will be nice to have fresh produce and do my own cooking. Not to mention going to the gym..which starts on Sunday morning, right after I tackle some of that laundry.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

penpal Hope you have a great time in your new yoga class I have never taken one of those classes. I have always wanted to but I just never have. I am sure the scale will start moving for you soon here are some coming your way.

judydc Enjoy the lazy day we all need one of those every once in a while. Hope you have fun at the gym as well.

As for me things have been crzy since this past week trying to get my boys all settled in the new school finally things seem to be going smooth they are loving it here. Thank goodness I am so relieved of that.
DH and I checked out a gym today while we were out doing our errands and we are considering joining... I haven't been to a gym in a while and I am a little nervous I get all worked up about working out in front of others but maybe that is just I don't like my family to watch LOL... It is a 24 hour gym and DH has crzy hours so that will work good for us.

I know how you ladies feel about the weight loss... I mean I did really awesome the first month and lost 9 lbs then last month after the move I guess I just kind of got lazy and didn't care and gained back 3 lbs and now I have manged to lose a couple this month don't know how because I havn't been exercising and I have not been having good foods... It was my birthday last Monday and I have been on a chocolate kick every since boy do I ever need to get to that gym please help me... I am spinning out of control...

Hey if you ladies don't mind I am trying to put together a few meals so I can make me a menu for a week I am counting calories and would like to stay around 1200-1500 calories do you have some suggestions for me ? Woulod love some advice...

Hope the rest of the weekend goes well for you ladies...

Judy - Your relaxing weekend sounded nice - it's good to be lazy now and again and you sure deserved a break! I hope your pocket journal works out well for you.

Mystical - I belong to a Curves gym which also has fairly long hours and you can go any time. I get a good but gentle workout, which is good for my joints. As far as diet goes, I try to balance carbs, fats and protein according to the 30/40/30 plan (The Zone). That is, 30% fats, 40% carbs and 30% protein. I keep track online at Sparkpeople. They have a feature on your nutrition tracker so you can see what percentages you are eating. This is a good idea until you get the hang of how many carbs, etc. you are eating. I find I lose quicker if I cut out refined carbs (white stuff) like flour, sugar, etc.

I enjoyed my new yoga class today. We did a lot of back strengthening exercises, which I really need. I felt great afterwards.

Have a great week everyone .

Mystical, when I was in a groove with counting calories a few years ago, I used a simple system: 300 cals for b'fast, 400 cals for lunch and under 500 cals for dinner. That left me flexibility for snacks. I hope you can do what you need to to get back in control. I'm starting by moving more...I'm glad that the boys are happy with school.

Hey, Penny, yoga sounds great

I got back on the scale after a long hiatus: 235.5. I picked up those pounds that Mystical lost , but it's not as bad as I thought. Except for a lingering sinus issue from traveling and the very dry air in the high desert, I'm finally readjusting to being back home (and in my own timezone!). And feeling positive about ending the year smaller than when I started. Thanks for your support in keeping my eyes on the prize!

Hi, chickies! It's been an insane week for me, still trying to catch up at work after being out so long. Now my ears are popping, so I think I'll need to stop by the doctor's after my dentist appointment in the morning. Gee, that will be a fun day . But I have to fly on Sunday, and I can't risk making a possible sinus infection worse.

This morning I had my first morning "memorial" walk in several weeks. The weather's cooled down a bit, so for once I didn't arrive at the office all sweaty. I'm pushing myself to remember to log my food. I've fallen out of the habit, but we'll get there!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Judy - I'm so sorry to hear you're suffering with your sinuses again . I hope you can get it under control before your next trip. Good luck at the dentists tomorrow - not a fun day!

I'm trying to get back into good habits again too. So far, so good this week. I had yoga class on Monday and worked out at Curves yesterday and today, plus my DH and I went for a short walk in the park today. I'm glad to be getting back in the swing of things again after slacking off for several weeks. I'm trying to cut back on carbs a bit too - easier said than done!

I hope everyone else is doing well and staying on track.

hello ladies, it has been a crazy week, since the boys are settled back in school I have gone back to work with DH. We have a tire business. Crazy how out of shape I am. I have working outdoors with him and I am so tired and I think everything aches LOL... We are going to sign up to that gym on Friday evening can't wait to get started with that. I also bought a new book today called "The eat clean diet" has anyone heard anything about it? I was thinking on getting the cookbook for some new ideas let me know what you all think.. Hope you have a great night. I will be gone until this weekend I will check in then.

Hey, Mystical, good luck with the gym! Sometimes I by the magazines associated with Tosca Reno, although the bodybuilders in the back of the magazine are a little off-putting . I just bought the Clean Eating magazine that's on the newsstands now. Lots of simple low-carb recipes, so it works for me! Let me know what you think of the diet.

Penny, you are doing great! My sinuses are slightly better today, thank you. I'll keep taking OTC meds, in hopes that I don't need anything stronger.

I went off program today with a bag of old-fashioned (read: 260 cals) potato chips, but otherwise I have been on program. No workout, though. I have to get into a better rhythm in the mornings. I promised the guy who was training me this summer that I would get to the gym on Friday or Saturday.

Hope everyone is anticipating a good weekend.

Today was a good day! After a tough week, I woke up with a lot of energy. I did a 60-minute cardio workout at the gym, ran some errands and a few hours in at work. I've been on program with eating. On Sunday I'm heading to Texas for a few days.

I'm feeling motivated in a negative way--I have a couple of jackets that were a little tight when I bought them last spring, and since of course I knew that I'd be a little smaller by now , I was counting on being able to wear them. Next weekend I will try on my fall and winter things and begin to pack away my hot-weather clothes. That should be a good kick in the butt .

Hope you are all enjoying a good weekend!

Mystical - I haven't heard of that diet, but 'clean eating' sounds like a good idea. I hope you enjoy working out at the gym. I have very bad joint problems too and although I sometimes dread going to the gym or yoga, I always feel better and my joints hurt less after a gentle workout.

Judy - I'm glad your sinuses are a bit better. You're doing so great with all the exercise! I'm not looking forward to getting out my fall and winter things either - but at least they are generally looser fitting anyway. I'm still 'treading water' and not losing or gaining. I definitely need to increase my exercise because I can't see where I can eat less than 1600 cals. I'm off to my yoga class now.

Have a good Monday.

Hello ladies hope you are having a wonderful day!

judydc I just bought the eating clean diet book, makes for some good reading and there are allot of great ideas although I don't know that I would follow this diet 100 % but it has some really great ideas that I know will help my DH. He likes the thought of not having to count his calories and eating clean. I will be counting his calories but he won't know LOL... There is even a section in the book on packing a cooler so that will be great for him.

penpal I haven't signed up to the gym yet. I am really excited about it though. I have to wait until payday. Since we have our own business the money doesn't come in until the first of the month. We will be signing up then and not just me the entire family is joining in with me. The gym is nothing fancy has everything we need and the price is good. just $15.00 a month. Not to bad I didn't think.

Well gotta run for now. Hope to hear from you all again soon.. Take care

Hey, I'm back from being AWOL! I forgot to bring my charger with me on my trip, and I didn't bring my computer, so I was almost never online for few days . The trip was good, but very rainy. The hotel charged $10/day to use their very nice fitness center. I paid, and tried to get my money's worth. My eating was mostly on program, but not enough veggies. It's good to be back home for a couple of weeks.

Mystical, $15/month is a great deal on a gym! I'm glad that your hubby is also interested in losing weight. It makes a huge difference to have that support.

Penny, I just feel so much better on days when I make a point of working out or walking. The trick is to remind myself of that when I'm really wanting to sleep in, or feeling swamped at work...

Judy - You did great to stay on track during your trip. Being away from a computer can be a good thing . Sometimes I feel joined at the hip to mine!

Mystical - Wow, $15 a month is a great deal for a gym membership. Let us know how the clean diet works out. Healthy eating is always good, even if it doesn't always lead to weight loss, our bodies thank us for all those good vitamins and minerals in fresh veggies and fruits.

I've been busy, busy, busy, with a big soap order but I'm nearly done now, thank goodness, and can soon put all my stuff away so that my kitchen doesn't look like a science lab! We've become addicted to watching the TV series "Lost" on Netflix streaming to our TV. We never saw the series when it first aired and our son said we might enjoy it. It's great not having to sit through all the ads. I love it how I can watch DVD's online either on my laptop or TV. We've also enjoyed some travel documentaries. I try to do a few exercises while I watch so I don't become a complete couch potato!
