Still 75.9kg - at least I didn't gain anything. This week I am determined to lose something, and I'm going to just take it day by day.

Today's goals are to eat no more than 1600 calories and drink at least 1.5L of water.

I feel a bit off colour - hope I'm not coming down with a winter lurgy - so it's even more important that I try to drink enough water to flush out any bugs etc.

Gen your job sounds awesome. Are you feeling any better?

Hey Vonni let us know how you go with Bree. I'm thinking of you.

Julia I don't know how you can stand the pain .

Sh!t!!! I just remembered Kel is in Perth this week, and I haven't organised a catch-up. I must do that this afternoon when I get home from work.

Have a good day everyone.

Hello all

I haven't been to the gym all week and it feels very strange! My new tattoo has still been a bit sore so best to stay away from the gym. It's feeling a lot better today but I've got a function to go to tonight so won't be going today either.

I haven't been keeping a record of my food but have been eating sensibly so that's cool.

How's everyone else doing?

Hi everyone!

I have a job! I am employed! Hoorah!

I'm working as a receptionist/admin/trainer, 9-5 in the Adelaide CBD. I am so lucky! I live in the city, so I will have to walk to and from work - good for me.

Also trying to keep up the water, and as soon as I get paid, I will be eating nothing but green vegetables and chicken.

Also realised that the racecourse is a lot closer than I thought, so I plan to start lapping that in the mornings.

Gen, I'm sorry you're struggling. We must be built really differently, coz I'm 100kg and I can manage size 16-18. I hope you research everything and make the best choice for you.

Kel, it's always a joy to read your posts - so bubbly! Keep it up hon.

I'm going to really try hard to get my sh*t together weightwise now. Having a job really has given me focuc, and new motivation to look after myself.

Love to you all!

Kylie

ok. so I just read Nightingale Shane's success story and had a look at her goal photos. She is beautiful. I'm 25lb heavier than her highest weight, which means I needs to lose over 30kg.

I'm half crushed, half wanting to go for a walk right now. (It's 1am).

Argh. Ok, I've had enough of this. I'm sick of being fat. I need to get back to basics. The only rule I can remember is 'drink 2l water/day.'

I know this sounds silly, but could you wonderful girls please help me get started again?

Ok. This is all a bit sleep-deprived, but you get the gist right?

Hey Kylie. Congrats on the job! It's great to hear you sounding so upbeat and ready to get back on the horse so to speak.

I've had a funny old week. Couldn't go to the gym Monday or Tuesday because my tattoo was too sore then Wednesday I had a work function and that's set the tone for the week - no exercise and not being overly careful with my diet.

Diet has been okay, but I haven't been keeping a food diary so I could well be overeating without realising.

So ...

Goals for today: Start my food diary again! and go to the gym after work tonight.

Kylie I think the best way to approach weight loss is to keep it as simple as possible. Find a plan that works for you, whether it be Weight Watchers, calorie counting or something else - but it needs to be realistic, and to fit in with your daily lifestyle.

Here are a few things that have worked for me over the last two years:

• You only lose weight if you burn more calories than you eat/drink. Work out how many calories your body needs every day, then eat less.

• Set yourself small, reachable goals (maybe 5kg at a time), then make a plan to get there.

• Drink as much water as you can. There are so many reasons why water is important for losing weight - and try to aim for 2 litres/day if you can manage it.

• Never miss breakfast - it's the meal that matters the most.

• If you can find a way to exercise, or to at least move more throughout the day, that will help you lose more weight, and give you a focus.

Hey Julia it's frustrating sometimes, isn't it. But it only takes a couple of good days to get your head back into the right space - and to remember all the good reasons we are trying to do this.

I've had a really good week so far. As long as I keep my focus over the weekend I should be able to lose something at Monday's weigh-in.

hey. Maybe thats where I have stuffed up these past few months. I have stopped eating breakfast (cause my 7 yr old keeps eating my cereal grrrr) and I am not drinking any water. Its to damn cold. I might give that warm water n lemon juice detoxy thing a try.

Goals for NEXT week (Yes I am saying next because my goals for the rest of
THIS week is to get my house in order to concentrate on next week) -

Keep a food diary. Not really changing anything but to see a pattern in there. Then the following week I will be altering the pattern.

Drink at least 3 glasses of water a day. Morn noon and night.

Thanks everyone. It's always good to hear the basics again.

Drinking lots of water, and walking quite a bit. Brekkie is also going to become part of my morning routine, as is walking the racecourse.

Just a quick one coz I'm off to a friend's 21st.

Vonni, they'd wanna be biiiiig glasses! You need more than 3 glasses of water per day. Can't you fill a water bottle and carry it around with you?

Vonni last week I gave myself an 'assignment' to write. I decided I needed to know WHY the human body needs water, and how it helps weight loss. As you well know I have struggled to drink enough water, especially in winter, but I often force myself to do it.

Last Saturday I did my research, and rather than writing an essay I came up with a list of reasons - and it has really helped me understand why I should drink more water. It has also motivated me, and I have been really diligent this past week.

There's nothing you can put in your mouth that is more important than water, in my opinion, and you just have to work out the right amount for 'optimal hydration'.

I'm in a space where I'm feeling pretty determined to lose some more weight. I've been really sticking to my goals for food, physical activity and water and am hoping for a good result this week.

Today I'm going to potter. I want to clean the house, and maybe whipper snip the front lawn (I'm saving up to buy a lawn mower), and I need to wash my clothes for work too. Aside from that I think a lazy day might be in order.

I had a lazy day today.... sort of.

This morning I got out in the garden and weeded then picked up all the river stones. (30kg of them lol).

Cleaned house.

Then at 12 a friend came over and we watched Spiderwick Chronicles and Little Miss Sunshine. So there went my afternnon.

We sat on a couch with a blanket each and a bowl of chippees (oops) and a Weis bar.

Coulda been worse. Could have eaten crap through the whole time.

Dinner was a mince, cabbage, celery and pineapple concoction so wasn't tro bad.

But the 165gm pack of maltezers I ate last night were a big no no. I felt so ill when I woke up that I am never eating another maltezer again.

What did you think of Little Miss Sunshine Vonni? That movie cracked me up big time

Last week was a total bust for me. No gym all week and despite trying, I didn't manage to keep a food journal for more than half a day

So, back on the horse today. I've got my food diary at the ready, have a nice healthy homemade lunch and a date with the gym for after work.

The big ask will be to weigh in tonight when I know I will have gained. Not what I want to see but necessary unfortunately.

Here's to all of us having a great week
