so you have a rest day every week?
i have an ellipitcal too, it is out the back covered in dust... it is getting warmer and jemima does like to play with the dogs so maybe i should get on that for 30 mins a day i keep forgetting about it
my gym membership is about to expire i think and i dont think right now i will renew it - will concentrate on longterm exercise solutions i can do from home for free

got blood test this morning - will go for the results on monday when i will also try and get jemima's chicken pox vaccination - they have been delaying coz as always she has been sick

vonni - how is your granddaughter and ebony?? and your child that had that diesese that was going to need treatment??

ani - i dont know what is going on with me - i am all over the pantry like a bad smell when there is strawberries and celery in the fridge..... today i have eaten 2 lamington fingers and a packet of chicken twisties, red rooster strip sub and regular chips and a kitkat and breakfast filled me up which was a shake coz i started the day with the intention of doing shakes when i was at home and only eating when i go out and for dinner coz i want to cook my family meals

Duromine - can any of you tell me about that??? it is apparently an appetitie suppresent - but would it work for me if i eat when i am not hungry??

julia - you are like the energiser bunny you just keep going - you have a crap day and then you are back at the gym - i admire your motivation!

i generally have one rest day a week.. when im tired.. this week i have been tired mostr days so just got out and done it.. lol

i dont think and appetite suppresenat will help you since you eat for every reason but hunger.. be it stress, emotions, boredom, etc.. what you may need to do is get back to basics..

Eat only when your hungry... for a little while... not becuase you havent eaten in a while, or becuase your bored.. or whatever just when your hungry let your body get back to the natural thing of hunger.. and wehn you do eat make good choices... my body is hungry for nutrients.. vitamins minerals.. fruit will help.. lean protien, milo( milo is good becuase it has a few different vitamins and some iron.. in it.. its the only way i get enough iron in the day), vegetables... yogurt.. find healthy food you like.. alot... and start with those. after a few weeks of eating only becuase of hunger maybe you can break the habit of eating for all the other reasons??

I too am an emotional person.. and these days i seem to clean instead of eat .. or i go for a walk.. workout, read.. surf the net.. or go window shopping.. .. i have roughly one day off exercise and 1 day a fortnight where i relax a little on the calories.. and allow myself a few hundred more .. generally i like to stick between 1500-1600.. one day a fortnight i will go up to 1900..

Calorie king is what is helping me.. and i have been very good about putting it all in there.. its the only way i know where im at..

Kel I went on duramine a few years ago and lost 24kg in about 6 mths. HOWEVER I did gain it all back over 2 years. That was a pregnancy included which now I am still struggling to lose. I did go on Duramine again for 2 months at the beginning of this year and lost about 6 kg but got to expensive. However when I went to the Dr we discussed and weighed up anti depressants or duramine. I couldn't have both. I chose the anti depressants and hope that weight loss will soon follow with me feeling better mentally.

Lindor I have 'lumpy boob' lmao. True as the Dr says haha. My left boob tissue is naturally fibrous and I feel lumps but they are tender. The tenderness eventually goes away but lump stays. I get breast checks at the Dr regular cause of it, as I find it hard to self examine due to the lumpy bits.

Kel grandaughter doing better now thank you, and Ebony a real miss personality. As for Brianna, we went for MRI and surgeon said we'll leave it for the moment as seems to be no more damage and her pain has gone. Says because we have been diligent in keeping her resting and preventing doing normal 7yr old stuff the circulation may be returning enough to heal. But if she starts to get the pain again we need to go back immediately so that they can do and MRI and see what goes on then. Weird thing.

You know Amy is right. Eat when yr hungry. Like, you moisturise when your skin feels dry, You wash yr heair when it needs it so food makes sense, pity I don't think of it like that all the time.

I wnt be on here for a few days. Going to Brisbane tomorrow (only working till lunchtime) to watch the Riverfire. Matt and I NO KIDS wooHOO. We are trying to get things on track but hard with kids always about and busy lives that we lead so we thought to take the time out this weeked. We are hiring a car and staying at the Chifley where we once stayed (pre baby).

Gotta run.

See you all early next week xxxxx

Kel, I really don't think you're in the right headspace at the moment. You don't need us to tell you, there is no easy way to lose weight and keep it off. To be successful, you need to exercise regularly and watch your diet.

Shakes won't make it happen, pills won't make it happen. Only hard work and committment will make it happen.

I agree with Amy, you need to take it right back to basics. Maybe stop thinking about losing weight for a while and think instead of being healthy. Commit to eating 6 small meals a day and maybe allow yourself one treat every day. Keep a diary of everything you eat as this will help a lot at keeping you honest. Watch your portions - don't eat as much rice, pasta, potatoes, eat smaller servings of meat and fill up on veggies.

I honestly believe that you're not going to succeed until you stop looking for an easy option because that doesn't exist.

Anyway, that's the end of Aunty Julia's advise for today

It's a sunny day in Christchurch today, shock horror. Not warm though. I managed to get a load of washing done and on the line before coming to work so that's good. I'm hoping to go for a walk this afternoon if the weather holds out.

Goals for the weekend: 1) Stick to my points and keep my food diary going. Should be relatively easy to do as I have no money to buy any naughty food!

Have a great weekend ladies.

Kel Duramine is a form of speed, and if you do a bit of research on the internet you'll find that it has all kinds of potential side effects. I wouldn't even consider it when you have other medication to take.

I'm with Julia - she gave you some very wise advice. Until you know WHY you choose lamingtons/twisties/red rooster instead of something healthy, you will keep struggling to lose weight.

There are only three choices we give our body every time we eat and drink; to use the fat, lose the fat or store it somewhere. But even when we are ignoring our food plans and eating for reasons other than hunger or need, our bodies are still deciding - every day - whether to use, lose or keep what we give them.

How would you go with some structure? Maybe some rules for your day? Can you do something like eat a really healthy breakfast, and healthy dinner - and have whatever you want in the middle of the day?

Are you able to identify the reasons you start the day with good plans and then ignore them as the day wears on?

It's hard to lose weight. It's very tough to be consistent, and to keep on going. But maybe if you make a small goal - just to get under 90kg - that might help you.

After many failed attempts to lose weight the thing that finally clicked for me was the day I realised that diets were useless, and they don't work. It was when I finally got it into my head that I needed to change my lifestyle, and find something I can live with for the rest of my life that things started to work for me.

You can do this .

I'm off to create my vegetable garden and make a shade house. My house is like a bomb has hit it so I also need to do some domestics.

thanks heaps girls
you all really got me thinking
when my medication kicks in (like it is at the moment) i feel really motivated, when i had been on it about a month last time i started back at the gym and really started to get the place sorted which kinda helped my eating patterns too

according to the blood test i had i am NOT pregnant which in my head means i can "diet" and have medication without fear of harming baby

so since i am not sick and i am not pregnant there is NO reason why i can not exercise or get stuff done

SO right now i am getting benji to take my measurements and tomorrow morning i will weigh in (not expecting anything pleasant as i have had 2 bbqs this weekend) and seriously get stuck into more stuff

i am going to GET OUT OF BED and start digging out the dirt for my vegepatch, the friends came over today and helped us with jemima's fort and helped us work out where to put the vegepatch and so now i have something to start with - they will come back and help with the sleepers and i will have a vege patch and a flower garden and a herb garden - i am too excited the yard it going to look amazing. i am also thinking about painting the garden shed sky blue and painting a rainbow on it

ani - how did your garden go?

amy - when i read all the exercise you do all i said was "so you have a breakday once a week" when i was thinking WOW she rocks!!! you are going to be so fit that is so good for your kids

vonni - how old is your granddaughter now?? seems like yesterday but it is months hey? how old is ebony?? jemima is 18and a bit months so i am thinking i should tomorrow go get her chicken pox shot, she was too sick for it a bit ago.... is brianna old enough to understand why she cant play as hard as she wants to??

julia - thanks heaps for your advice, you are going so steady and so well, i should and am going to try and listen!!

bye bye have a great week
i will be in in the morning with my weighin, last BAD one for a while i hope!

Good to hear you sounding a bit more positive Kel. Getting on the right medication was something that helped me massively in being able to lose weight. I know what you mean when you say that when your medication kicks in you feel more motivated etc. Keep taking your happy pills and just take one day at a time and you'll be sweet.

I had a great weekend. The weather was really good which was a nice change to the horrible cold stuff we've had lately. Saturday night I went to visit a friend and we played Monopoly all night which was lots of fun. Sunday I went for a big walk then visited a couple of friends.

Went over my points both days but did manage to record everything I ate so that's a start.

Goals for today: 1) Stick to my points 2) Do weights and aerobics class at the gym tonight.

julia - weights AND aerobics - gosh you are keen!!!

95kg.
but today am fixing that
already did productive exercise, was out in the back yard for i think 45mins digging out some grass then moved that dirt/grass into some dog holes so yeah me

but just remembered had a cupcake, strawberry slice and lamington finger at a friends place this morning - where it really is hard when youdont know the people not to have anything!!! i have had a shake for brekky and a shake for lunch, i have a heap of them and dont want to waste them, tomorrow i am meeting a friend for lunch at a foodcourt and have prewarned her i might just have an optifast bar, but we both know i will probably end up with a kebab - i love kebabs so i will comprimise with myself and have no cheese or somthing like that

i am so damn proud of myself for actually getting into the garden - nightie and all so i didnt lose motivation!!!

going to the kitchen now to figure out something healthy for dinner so i dont just chuck 'anything' together later tonight!

I don't know much about that Kel so I'll leave it up to someone else to do!

I had a good day yesterday, stuck to my points and did my weights and aerobics at the gym. Weighed myself and was rather peeved to see that I'm 86.8kg which is .3 heavier than last time. I'm hoping that it's water retention because I do have my period. Also measured myself last night and most measurements were up a little bit.

I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and hope to see a change next week. No gym for me today because I'm going to Wellington after work. That means no gym for me until Friday so I'm going to have to try really hard to watch my diet - always difficult when I'm away from home.

Hope everyone is well.

hehe Ani is good at making new threads.

And is right about side effects.

I got dehydrated (so I felt like crap most of the time), my jaw hurt from gritting my teeth and being so tense all the time.

Thats why this time I am going it alone (well, with yr help and without the aid of chemicals).

Because it is a lifestyle change and we have to find the reasons.

I am not currently losing, I am GAINING ARRRRRR. I am not eating half as much crap as I was a few weeks ago, but I think stress has a lot to playt on it. Even my Dr thinks most of my weight is fluid retention - stress throws out the electrolyte balance in yr body and sodium is retained and causes fluid build up apparently.

These anti depressants I am on are helping by me not flipping out as much, but they don't make the problems go away.

It would be bloody lovely to close my eyes and one day wake up and find all the stress a bad dream lol.

Anyone want a 14yr old son? Going free - heck i may even pay you to take him on lol.

Wow. I almost never read more than a couple of posts per group (just to make sure no one is fighting or cursing ), and I just happened to read this!
Don't worry... you've got up to 500 posts before we request that you start a new thread. We won't close the old one until you've started a new thread. And if you'd like us to, we'll even put a "redirect" link in the old thread so that no one gets lost.
Feel free to PM Marti or I anytime.

Best wishes to all of you... don't give up on the weight loss. I'm right there with you... it's HARD. Particularly when you're suffering from depression, etc. Give yourself a little bit of slack. Imagine if you made just two better choices today than you did yesterday. You would be incredibly powerful, and on your way to forming new habits.

Vonni I'm sorry to hear that you're having such a tough time with your son

I watched a show on telly last night about a NZ actor who had gained a bunch of weight over the last few years so they put him on a diet and exercise regeime and he lost 8kg in the first week and about 20kg in 8 weeks. Why is it that it seems to be easier for men to lose weight?

I'm staying with my sister for the next 2 days and that usually means that I go off the rails. I did go over my points yesterday because we ate cheese and crackers last night washed down with a bottle of wine and today I have already eaten a packet of skittles

Am writing down everything that I eat though and even just doing that is a challenge while I'm away.

How is everyone else doing? Hope you're all well.

i suck
i sneak peaked at scales and i know that is bad bad bad
BUT it did say i was 500gram lighter than i was on monday so that is a good thing
today for 3rd day in a row i was out digging up grass for where my vege patch is going to go - i think i will take a photo of the work in progress - i dont know if anyone will believe it was me digging hehehehe

jemima went up a swimming class today woohoo very exciting
AND
yesterday went to the potty all by herself randomly! and did a wee then got toilet paper, wiped her bum and then GROSS took the paper out of the potty and tried to put it in the toilet so i lifted the lid and then lifted her up so she could flush the toilet and then she clapped at the potty - it was very cute!!! and i have not even started toilet training yet!!!!! (i guess maybe i should)

julia when u stay with your sister does that mean no gym??? you always seem to go to the gym - is it usually every day???

i love skittles

today i had noodles and a spring roll for lunch so will bulk my dinner with veges - carrots for me tonight - steak and 3 veg for benji and jemima

am going ok with water getting at least 600ml, i know i should be doing 3 times that but ... baby steps.....

ani - how is your vege patch going??
