I think were alone now
There doesnt seem to be anyone around
I think were alone now
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
tah-thump, tah-thump, tah-thump...
A little 60's Tommy James to go along with Mel's 50's Brenda Lee. And thanks Mel, I'll be thinking that song in and out of my head all day
Sorry I didn't make it here yesterday. I was catching up and then I got stuck on the site not responding. It was being a real bugger and then I had to get going so I had to just be a lurker yesterday.
I had planned on swimming last night after work but as I walked out the door there was this huge dark cloud mass overhead. I didn't think much of it because the storms seem to gather in Arkansas next door, yet once they pop over the Mississippi River and head east, they dry up before they get to my house. I hit a few spots on the drive home where I got 10 or 20 raindrops on the car - just enough to make spots in the dust on the hood. Got home and it was thundering like there was no tomorrow. The storm was just south of us down the road in Mississippi. A bit too chancy to get into the pool, particularly when I found out that electricity is in the air for several miles around a storm - it might not be storming directly above you but that doesn't mean the components for a lightning bolt aren't right overhead

. So I'm more careful than I used to be. We went to dinner at the Olive Garden Italian Restaurant. By the time I had a dish of salad, half a breadstick and a bit of DH's appetizer, I was too full to eat more than a few bites of risotto. So I packed it up. I had never tried risotto before but wanted to taste it to find out why so many people ordered it on the TV show ****'s Kitchen.

It really is good, not calorie friendly at all but I had salmon and brocolli for lunch so I felt I had a few extra points I could use. Got home, had a phone call from a friend. One of my coworkers - just the nicest guy - is taking a job transfer to Europe so she had a little get together for him at her house. DH and I went for what we thought would be a half hour pop your head in and say hi but wound up lasting almost 3 hours.
I was going to go to the farmers market this morning and woke up at 6:30 but decided I really didn't need all that much. One of the grocers is advertising that they get a lot of their produce from local farmers here so I figured I'll just get it at the store. I know the tomatoes are good and the peaches this year have been fabulous. The cucumbers have been rather small and yucky this season.
The temps are cooling into the 90's with the possibility of storms on the way. We sure do need the rain. Depending on how the hurricanes hit, that's where we might get our rain finally. We won't get pounded with torrential rains but would benefit as the moisture is carried up north. Let's hope because things are so parched here
DH wants to work on the stone wall outside. I think I'd rather stay in and do the housecleaning and laundry today. Can squeeze in a swim during the afternoon. Maybe if I have time, tomorrow morning I'll help DH outside.

on the Paddy joke Mel. That was cute. I can't remember what chilly is like and it seems wierd to imagine shutting the window because a breeze is too chilly. Then I remember it's only in the 70's up your way. Is the gift card for a retail store? Maybe someone would buy it from you. Keep an eye on the mattresses so "the man" doesn't come and try to sneek them out from under you

Hope you have a quiet weekend. We MUST set up that phone date. Maybe next Saturday afternoon around 5 your time? email me...
Shad - hope you are having fun chasing the Quokka at Rottnest. What a name for a place

And a dry weekend to you. No fun slogging through wet leaves.
Ceejay - glad the hoodia is working for you. There was something else you were trying that I was going to caution you on - it appears it interferes with the thyroid medicines. Stay cool this weekend. Again I see the rain up your way while we are parched.
Have fun painting Holly. Ouch on the nasty sewer bill. Yikes! Hope Lucy is doing better Ruth. Are you home now uncorking a bottle and relaxing in peace and quiet Carla? And the big question is... did Meadow get more tea?
Madcat - get a bike ride and a visit to the comic book shop in with the DH this weekend. Hello to Nae who is probably starting to see the first glimpses of autumn up her way.
Time to get the dustcloth and mop out - later chicks...
