Meadow-The color I chose wascalled Susan Sells seashells by the seashore. It's a dark pink. Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Happy--I still haven't seen any rain. The clouds yesterday looked promising but they drifted towards Memphis. I don't like hydroplaning. be careful.

Mel--Yipee for the scale going down.

Shad--I'm working today also. The phone was busy when I first came in but the guys were almost through. It's been quite since then.

Not much going on today. I'm on plan so far. Tomorrow is weigh in for me. We shall see if the scale is good to me also.
I've decided that eating clean for me is to eat 30 grams of fiber per day. The doctor has me on a high fiber diet.

My sister from MO called me while ago to wish me a happy birthday. My Texan sister is in California celebrating her grand daughter's birthday. She will be three. They are baby sitting tonight while her parents celebrate their wedding anniversary.
We have three other employee's who have birthday's in August so I'm baking a cake to have for them tomorrow. Yep I'll have a piece also. As my sister said while ago I'll be celebrating all week.

Morning all, back again. It's just like I never went away. Nothing much has happened since yesterday either.
It was weighand record day this morning and after having a fairly good week and the scale doing a sharp downward turn last week, it is now back up another 500g or 1lb. Seems I can do it during the week but not at the weekend. Somethings gotta give somewhere. I thought I was doing so well too. Still I am down on what I was at the beginning of the challenge. Just have to suck it and see what happens next week I guess.

Mel congrats on the weight loss. What a good bonus. You must be happy with yourself and rightly so.
I would have thought that although a preventive maintenance program is expensive to set up, it saves a heap of money in the long run and as an added bonus alleviates the risk of legal action should someone hurt themselves on something that should have been fixed aeons back.

No Painter, I try to steer clear of Govt work. Although some of the big multinationals could give them a run for their money at times. The multinationals unfortunately or should that be fortunately have shareholders to answer to so they must have deadlines etc. Govts can extend way past the next election, then they don't give a darn because they may not be in power and it is then not their problem. The last Govt job I had, they extended my contract then took 3 weeks of committees to come up with something to fill my time, by which time I had already done it, so back to the drawing board they went. I finally resigned from there. Nothing to do = terminal boredom in my book.

Holly - you sound very busy doing all the pickles and preserves. I love relishes and chutney's but the salt............. aaaah the joys of getting old. Too much salt equals weight gain almost immediately.

Happy - you can have an accordion. I'll take you back up to the Ozarks to buy a Dulcimer if you like and you and DH can practise together.
I'm glad you had a good conversation with the Aunt. It's nice to be able to remember the fun times while she is still here and still functioning. I hope you will be able to speak to her again soon.

Meadow - it's not the money that drives me here on a Sunday. It's the amount of work needing to be done. To that end I have just told one of my people that his production rate is to increase 400%. I don't think he is a happy camper.

for ceejay celebrating a week long birthday. Good job the challenge doesn't start until September.

Gotta go. Duty calls.

Shad - I love the sound of the dulcimer. Wish I could play one. But hey - an accordion - have fun will travel - how can you not have fun when you're lugging around a big ole squeeze box? Sorry to hear that you keep getting frustrated with the weight loss efforts. I know how dreadful weekends can be too - not severely off course but just enough to mess up the works. Just hang in there and keep doing the right things. You've probably avoided gaining 20 pounds because you've been so diligent in your efforts thusfar. I know that's not much comfort but, you are still doing the right thing.

Ceejay - what's with all these people at work who have August birthdays? Every time I turn around in this new job we've had a birthday this month. Must be very popular Fortunately people are not cake eaters here. I was able to buy a bag of nice chocolates which made the birthday people happy.

Meadow- nice to see you popping in again. I would think that by now the air/pool/water is getting a bit cool for you. Do you have a solar cover or do you sit in the pool on a float with a nice warm cuppa?

Mel - did you finally get everything all straightened out with your finances? It will be nice to just settle in and let everything get quiet again. You are giving me a taste for rice when you talk about cooking some up.

I was gone most of the day shopping. Geez I certainly don't seem to have a problem spending money. Exchanged the stuff for DH. Got some dress pants for work for me. Bought a pair of jeans too. My first in a long time. There is nothing flattering about jeans unless you are very tall and slim. I am only tall and slim in my dreams I am also on a quest to find a bra that I like. Broke down and got measured today. I guess I am one of the few who is actually wearing the right size. That's pretty sad because I thought I didn't like the fit of much of anything because I was wearing the wrong size. Can't blame that one now. Stupid boobs. When I didn't have any I wanted them. Now that I have them I can't wait until I lose weight and they go away Speaking of which, I was in a dressing room of truth today. Big mirrors. No hiding what I really look like. It wasn't pretty. My last chores of the day were to pick up groceries. Got frozen WW and Lean Cuisines for lunches as well as fresh fruit and fresh veggies. I might even eat them for dinner too. Didn't get a chance to go in the pool today but I did walk for 7 hours so that has to count for something I hope.

And now I'm so tired I can't stop yawning so I'm going to sleep. Catch you tomorrow.

Your shadow is tall and slim too if the sun is low enough in the sky.

Good one Shad - except that you have a nice long body but a little pinhead for a head

Lunar eclipse tomorrow just before sunrise. 4:45 my time. Maybe I'll go over to Mel's for coffee since it will start an hour later by her. Oh wait, too much light up that way near NY.

Looks like the temps are dipping down which is what they do. A sudden drop of a few degrees sets the new pattern. It was actually nice out this morning. Looks like the pool days are numbered. It's the mad feeding frenzy for the hummingbirds. We estimate about 12 swooping back and forth across the yard with more coming every day. We have a feeder out front too. All you hear all day long is the high pitched chittering they make, followed by the sound of their fast beating wings and an occasional painful WHUMP as they play bumper cars with each other. They fight with those long beaks too - just like swords. You can clearly hear the clacking as they fight each other. Yesterday DH said he saw a hummer on the front feeder outside the kitchen window. His beak was broken about 1/3 from the tip. He was on the feeder trying to feed but it's like drinking with a bent straw. He will probably starve within a day or two. Made me very sad. But that's nature as DH says. Hummingbirds are one of the most aggressive birds out there.

And with that, I need to go wrap a present for friend and be on my way to work. Have a good one ladies...

Happy birthday Ceejay.

A little Beatles for the occasion...

We're gonna have a good time
I'm glad it's your birthday
Happy birthday to you.
Yes we're going to a party party
Yes we're going to a party party
Yes we're going to a party party.
I would like you to dance - Birthday
Take a cha-cha-cha-chance - Birthday
I would like you to dance - Birthday
Dance.
You say it's your birthday
Well it's my birthday too - yeah
You say it's your birthday
We're gonna have a good time

Hey, Ceejay, here's another birthday tune for you, with apologies to Stevie Wonder and his original birthday boy, Martin Luther King. Enjoy your day, and remember birthday cake has no calories as long as you only eat it on your own special day...

You know it doesn't make much sense
There ought to be a law against
Anyone who takes offense
At a day in your celebration
'Cause we all know in our minds
That there ought to be a time
That we can set aside
To show just how much we love you
And I'm sure you will agree
It couldn't fit more perfectly
Than to have a world party on the day you came to be

Chorus
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday

Happy, I love you new kitty, although I don't understand the "cheeser, cheeser". Am I right in thinking the little cutie is not meowing but singing?

Meadow, it would be uninhibited to skinny dip in daylight. But at night at a quiet lake, no ambient light, there's no one to see. On the way down the hill to the dock, all swaddled in towels and stepping carefully on the disintegrating path. On the way up, too busy trying not to stumble on those missing steps as the flashlight weaves ahead to worry about anything but not falling down.

Mel, on three pounds down!! See, you just think about eating properly and you start to shrink!!

There seems to be something in the air here - maybe ragweed is coming into season. Sniffle sniffle, blow blow. So sexy.
The last few weeks put a stop to my lovely weight loss - at least now I'm only one pound up instead of Friday's three. Right now I waver between getting back on the straight and narrow earlier than planned and enjoying another week or so of and food porn and .

Madcat, Holly, Shad, Ruth, Painter - I'll be back later, have a few things I must get to right now.

Carla - I admit I could not think of anything clever to put in my signature.

I'm kinda leaning with the rest of you guys to start eating clean today instead of waiting for Sept. Guess I should not have had those 2 pieces of bacon today, huh?

I do have some tasty grapes for this afternoon and am having lunch with a friend but already decided I'm going with the scoop of chicken salad and fresh fruit plate over the tasty chicken finger salad with honey mustard and hot bacon dressing

I bottle of water down. 10 more to go. Slush, slush. Guaranteed at least 3000 steps just to get back and forth to the potty today.

Quick run through and a wave. I did get off my tush and go to the gym this morning! I found myself making excuses such as "Can't go Wednesday so may as well skip this week." Oy! Missing it for a few weeks sure makes a big difference when you finally stagger back.

Tomatoes, peppers, onions and cilantro are calling me. How can I NOT make salsa? I also need to battle the fruit flies for the current basket of peaches.
