HiedieHo All!

Here I am again. Today I have the WA meeting, our last until September. Choir has off tonight and that's a good thing. We need a break. At this time there is a great deal of discension between the organist and the choir director and it is affecting choir. They are bith wonderful women but strong minded. They need to get a grip!

I keep trying to analyze whether or not the Glucosamine is helping with the arthritis and I'm tired of it. There are days I think it is and then I have a couple of bad days. But all in all I think it is helping to a certain extent. The change from Protonix to Ranitidineis working well. So I have been feeling okay.

I went to a concert in the park here with the YAH group. The LA Philharmonic played. We went early to get a good place and had a great time just being with each other. Friday we are going to N.O. to the museum and see the LA Purchase exhibition.

BETH: So glad you weren't hurt. Cars can be repaired faster than people. I worked with head trauma and many of the patients were auto accidents.(I should the cause was auto accidents!)

MONET: At the momenet my mouth is fine. The stitches come out tomorrow. Of course my tongue is getting exercise! You know how it wants to go to a sore spot! The pool is rather nice. The other day it was 76', in the summer the water is 80' or more. I prefer the cool, I used to swim in mountain streams, lakes and ponds. At 80' the water feels like you're in the tub!

MELF: Hope you are feeling better. Liked the Garfield...only in LA!

BOB: Life isn'r fair! Celebrex is great for me, but everything bothers my stomach. I would take it with food. Hope you will find some relief with a different docotor.

I really am behind the times as far as the board is concerned. Welcome to the newcomers I hope to get to knoe you all. Hope all the ones who are not up to par will feel better too.

See you all later!

Take care, Shirley

LADY: Welcome! We are glad you joined us! This is a great, fun group! You won't feel lonely around this crew! Hop right on in!

FILLISE: The week after next, as in May 19 to 23? Looks fairly open to me.... PM me and lets work it out.

ROSALIE: Here is your picture of the monster New Dawn. Hope it does ok... The top rung of the arbor is eight feet and the whole thing is ten feet wide. The rose itself goes about two feet over the top. Its really just begun to start blooming. I will probably take a few more pix in a few days. I compared these to last years, and it has probably about doubled in size!

Post Tuesday

Hey y'all. Don't have much time, just wanted to let everyone know that we are moving right now. We got some stuff packed up and in a trailer and ready to go right now. We're waiting on the kids to get home from school because there isn't enough time to run over there and unload the trailer and get back before the bus runs. Man this sucks with me being a little sick right now too. We'll be spending the night over in the new house tonight too. Well I gotta run for now, I was just told to check the weather since there's some clouds coming in, and I have some phone calls to make to get the utilities shut off. I'll talk to y'all later. Oh, this internet service I have now will be on until the 15th, but my computer will be hooked up over at the new house with a different server on Thursday. Just thought I'd mention that. See y'all later.

Default Hello

Ok, to be on the safe side I decided to change my password and the next thing I know I can't log onto this web site! I had to email Suzanne and wait till she responded to get back on. I was able to read your posts just couldn't respond. I have a new password now......want to know what it is....just kidding..

Monet: your roses are gorgeous....but the duel is still declared! I will send pictures of mine when they bloom....unless I am too ashamed.
I am a software implementor for a medical software company. Basically I install and support their network services software which allows sites to send claims and statements electronically to a clearinghouse for distribution.

I have a question for you about making WW bread. I made several sad attempts this weekend and need some help. Can I email you?....it may be long.

Jenn MN: I am sorry that you have been feeling depressed. I am glad you are going to be taking the Wellbutrin but just thought that you may want to be aware that all SSRI's can cause problems in the weight loss department. I have been taking these types of drugs for years now and a doctor told me one time that as long as I was I would always have trouble losing weight. Damned if she hasn't been right. I have been taking Celexa for a couple of years now and have never felt better. I used to have panic attacks and general anxiety. I feel great now so I will take the happy head over the weight trouble.
I hope I didn't say the wrong thing I just wanted you to be aware in case your losses start slowing down. Maybe you will prove me wrong...I hope so.

Beth: I didn't see your original post....were you in a car accident? You are ok I hope.

I can't respond to everyone....sorry. I have been missing in action too long.

I had blood tests done yesterday when I went to the doctor. She is suspect that I have a sinus infection. She thinks I didn't know I had one since I have such bad allergies. If that is what it is she said that is what was making me so tired. She gave me an antibiotic and an inhaler. She also is checking me for mono, my thyroid and a low white count. She will call me if something is wrong. I am going to ask for a copy of the blood work so that I can see the actual numbers on my thyroid test.

Talk to you all later.

Last post for the week.

Got to run. Maybe pick up tux tonight. If I get a chance I will try to check in quickly before Friday. I do promis pictures for you.

Melf, 2 days OP is great, 1 more and it will be a breeze.

Monet, I hope you didn't get any damage from your roof leak.Great going on being OP and stopping that cheat. Now just think of telling us if you do cheat, that ought to keep OP. Glad your DS likes his new job. My roses are just about ready to open up. I hope they wait a couple of days until this rain and storms are gone so they don't get beat to death. What a rose bush. and pretty too.

Rosalie, Congrats on the 2 lbs. Have fun at your line dancing. It sounds like so much fun.

Susan, thanks for the idea. My friend is having a hys next week so I will make the hot chicken salad for her one night. Good luck on your new client.

Deb, the bride and groom arenot nervous. Can't tell if they are excited. Both are very laid back. Never had the parafin dip before. Will let you know though. I emailed my niece and asked her to bring her digital camera just to get a picture to send you guys. Nothing great on the hair. just colored and highlighted. It's been awhile since I've highlighted it. I think you are getting the secret to get back on track. You seem to do it quicker each time.

Jenn, parafin is warm and you dip your feet/hands in it and it is supposed to make them so soft. Nevr had one before, will let you know how it is. You need to treat yourself to a pedicure. They are wonderful.

Ladypmd, Welcome, You are not alone here. We are here to help and support you. 4 lbs is great. Keep up the good work. Come here for any questions and just plain old motivation.

Sef, I have never taken theglucosomine (sp), but now they want me to take self-given shots. At the moment the brand leaves my feeble mind. There are 2 to chose from.

Jecrites, take care of yourself and don't work to hard on the move and get sicker.

Jane, hope you are feeling better. Those sinus infections hurt to move your head.

Good luck on WIW. Have a great rest of the week.

Hey All

Thought I'd hop on and get in a post while the house was still quite. Kids father called at last second so I had him pick them up. MICHAEL had a big test today and seems to be running late last time LAUREN called and complained.

Ran to a few stores with my DM today, better than staying home and cleaning! Stopped at the Super Walmart and got some salmon for dinner - YUM! A few other things, but nothing other than groceries and def. nothing exciting.

Whoops, spoke to soon, they're home. Oh well, going to keep typing til I get thrown off the computer...

JENN, I can tell you, I was the QUEEN of excuses for bad eating throughout my entire life. I was the emotiional eater of all time. I can tell you that when I started SB and got all the sugar out of my system that all changed. It won't make the problems go away though but dealing with things do change. Another thing is, and I'm just as bad, but we use things that don't go well in our life as an excuse to eat poorly and what happens, we just compound our problems with more problems. When we eat off plan due to any reason we make new problems for ourselves. We need to find alternate ways to deal with problems or than food.

LADY, Glad you've come on our weekly support board to join us. 4 pounds in 2 weeks is great - CONGRATS! If you are looking for friends and motivation you've definitely come to the right place and we're happy to have you! We're all more than happy to help answer any questions you may have, so don't be afraid to ask! Where in MD are you? Lucky enough to be near a TJ's I bet!!! I'm jealous!!!! I'll be whizzing through Bethesda some time this summer.

SEF, sounds like you have a busy schedule ahead of you this week, do you keep a "SOCIAL CALENDAR" to keep track of all your events???

MONET, beautiful roses!!!!

JENN, good luck with all the moving, hope it goes smoothly. Check in when you can and tell us how things are going!!!

JANE, hope the blood work comes back okay. Hope you don't have mono, MONET sure can tell you about her experience with that recently! Are you eating enough and drinking enough water as well, that can contribute to feeling tired too.

JACKK, you know, you're right, I was able to get back on track a bit quicker than some of the other times. Now, if I can get it down to where I do it in one day, I'll be great-that is if I don't let it happen all that often Pictures? YIPEEE!!!!

BOB, I think I have your addy, but e-mail me anyhow with it and I'll pop some pills right out to you. Remember, these have codeine, just wanted to make sure you know. They don't do anything to me other than knock out the pain. How many of these suckers do you want me to send???

Okay, I'm outta here until chat tonight. Also, I wish you all luck tomorrow for WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!!

Toodles

Deb

This was a story that was done by a local TV station. I heard about it, though I didn't see it. I looked it up on their website and here's what it said:

New Product Claims To Stop Sugar Cravings

Stop Cravings; Lose Weight, Product Claims
Cake, cookies candy... major reasons why some Americans are overweight.

But can a new product short-circuit your cravings for sweets in seconds?

If you have a sweet tooth and crave chocolate, for example, there are good reasons why.

A dip in blood sugar levels when you haven't eaten in a while can cause cravings.

Your body is going to start craving quick energy.

But a new product called Sweet Enders claims it can kill those cravings by making sugar lose its taste.

The main ingredient in these lozenges is an old Indian herb. In homeopathic medicine it has been used to control blood sugar levels and it is known to dull the taste of sweets.

Most testers found the product at least moderately effective in blocking the taste of sugar for about an hour or two.

Directions say to let one lozenge dissolve in your mouth. They claim the lozenges can help you lose up to 20 pounds by helping you to break the cycle of eating sugary foods that lead to weight gain.

However, less than half of the testers thought Sweet Enders would help them lose weight.

If you really want to do something about those cravings, dietitians say there is a better way.

They say that if you eat frequently, and eat high fiber foods, you can get rid of the cravings in a better way than dulling your tongue to the taste of sugar.

Sweet Enders are now available at a local grocery chain and in major drug stores.

They are not for everyone, and should not be used by pregnant or nursing women. If you're diabetic consult your doctor before using the product.

Anyone even heard of this stuff-I havent'!

I did it again!! Another awful day of eating. I mean really awful. McDonald's and a pint of ice cream, need I say more. Today, I've been legal but too many starchy carbs and fat. I need someone to kick me in the butt. TOM showed up yesterday on top of it. Today I'm focusing on getting thru the day without having anything illegal(even if it's been too much). Tomorrow I won't be doing WIW, because I know it will put me in a bad mood. But I will be stricter with my eating and not go over 2 starches. BTW- how many trisuits are in 1 starchy carb? I've been going by the serving on the box(7) but that has 22 carbs.

Oh yea, yard sales- Saturday I got a pressure cooker for $2, a cooler for $2, an indoor grill for $3, a microwave seat cushion(for hubby's hunting) still new in the box for $3, a pair of 16 capri's for $1, and a bunch of bath and body works shower gels for 10 cents a piece.

The weather has been awful here this afternoon! The power flashed on and off several times, and we have a flash flood warning still in effect. There were tornado warnings all around and it was black as night. They held the kids in school until the worst of the warnings were expired. My daughter usually gets out at 2:15, but did not get released until after 3! When she left, it was because she had a ride, they were still holding the buses at 3:30! Now the rain has stopped and the sun is shining a bit. Good. I am sick of rain!

JANE: Of course you can email me about bread making! I would be happy to help if I can! (monet_320 at yahoo) Or you can send me a private message on here, if that works for you. I sure hope you don't have mono... I had it in October and November, and it was about 8 weeks of pure h-e-double hockey sticks. They made me stay in bed for six weeks! Talk about bored!

DEB: Wish I could have had you do some shopping for me at the Super Wal Mart! I had intended to go there today, but with the weather, I did not venture out of doors any more than I absolutely had to! I was expecting my son to call and ask me to give him a ride home, but thankfully, I have not heard from him! Its still growling out there, and they say more is on the way. Pretty bad storms...they were expecting tornadoes and lots of damage.

BOB: A steroid shot might be just what you need! I had a horrible problem with my hip a few years back and two shots of cortisone and it was amazingly better!

JECRITES: Hope your move goes smoothly!

JACK: Yes, having to confess on here does keep me honest. I like to feel like I am doing as well as everyone else. And I honestly try not to have a martyr complex about my not losing!

Ok, off to fix dinner. Forgot this was "cook dinner for your massage therapist" night. Hope she is not expecting it, cause I totally forgot it was the day!

Hi

Fillise - Do you have a recipe for the hot chicken salad? If you have would you mind posting it. I have made one a couple of times - I was trying to copy something that I had in a restaurant. It turned out quite good but I used much more dressing than I would normally use on a salad so would like to find another recipe.

Deb - Good for you getting out to walk when you don't feel like it. Times not so important as getting out there and doing it. I'm sure it doesn't hurt to have more protein on some days. It will probably even out over the week.

Monet - Thanks for posting the pictures of the roses. They are beautiful.

I just finished dinner and dishes. The pot roast was good, I had it with green beans and carrots. My calories up to and including dinner were a bit low for the day and I was wondering what else I could eat. Then my ds came home with some tiramisu that someone at his work had made. I know I shouldn't have eaten it but I had never had it before so had to taste it. It was delicious, the only things that I can tell you were in it is some chocolate and some liquor. I wonder if this is something that can be made sb legal?

Have to run as I have to pick up my buddy for badminton in five minutes. Haven't had time to read all the posts yet as I was out all afternoon.

Marie.

Default Still here

Hello all...still here...very distracted and I will get to that in a minute.

Heartmom...everyone has days like that. you are smart to focus on getting through the rest of the day just staying legal. when I first started this woe i just cut out all desserts/candy etc then moved to white flour then down the nitty gritty of portions and monitoring my starchy carbs. hang in there

monet...BEAUTIFUL roses. my dh would be jealous. he is spending every spare moment planting for spring. he loves both flowers and veggies

Okay so here is my LOOOONG story...skip it if you feel like it..it is not really related to eating...I'm just not prepared to share it with everyone in real life b/c I'm not ready to deal with their reaction to it..

A little background..my dh was diagnosed with non hodgkins lymphoma aka cancer in july 1999. went through chemo and has been in the clear since then. he was visiting his oncologist every three months, then four, then six. we just had the last visit on april 30.

I cannot stand his dr. he is like a piece of cardboard. no emotion, no encouragement, nothing. like we are a number. apparently he knows his stuff, but his bedside manner sucks.

he comes into the exam room, checks out dh Pete, shuffles through some papers in his file and says "everything looks good, scans haven't changed since last time..still has that hot spot under his arm but that has been there"

Excuse me? Hot spot?? There has been no hot spot. I tell him this and he says "no, it's been there, probably just an inflamation.."

He makes me a copy of the report and tells pete everything looks good so he doesn't need to come back for a year, which is what we've been waiting to hear from the beginning.

I get home, whip out the reports from the 5 previous visits and there is no mention of a hot spot..the past two reports have recommend a PET scan for further clarification.

next day i call the dr with my concerns and he says all the radiologists recommend PET scans,, its the latest thing.he says "i do not recommend a PET scan. i can see youre concerned. i'll get all the films here and I'll have the radiologist go over them and explain them." fine.

he calls me back to say.." i went over the films with the radiologist and there appears to be a slight change from last time so I think pete should get a PET scan' WHAT!!??! Yesterday he told us see you in a year and now we're back on the rollercoaster waiting for results. Hence...I'm totally distracted. I CAN"T STAND IT!

I don't want to tell my friends and family b/c I don't want to deal with it. Once the results are back, of course I'll share with them.

This sucks. There is like a buzzing in my head "pete might have cancer again" I just want to know and deal with it.

One thing is for certain....I want a new dr. If I hadn't questioned him this would have gone unchecked for a year!! Finding a new dr is not easy. We will have to travel at least 45 min or up to 2 hours. i know it would be worth it but the thought of it..yuck. I do have a couple leads that I am going to check out. I do not want to deal with our current dr, esp. if the cancer is back.

I have seriously thought about eating off plan since i am an emotional eater, I wanted comfort. I did eat a couple cookies one day, but nothing major. Still staying OP and on the treadmill.

Just had to vent. Feels good to type it out. It'll help when it's time to share with my family.

Thanks for listening Ü

Ashley

HiedieHo All!

Just a quickie!

BOB: I took meds for stomach oo but still had problems. But they had developed due to years of different pain meds.

DEB: Yes! I do keep a calendar, otherwise with the holes in my head...................

JACKK: Shots?!? Didn't know there was such a thing.

OVERCOME: It is always a hard decision about doctors. Hope you find a new one that is more coherent.

Tried to get into chat. Couldn't. Have written to 3fc.

Take care, Shirley
