We're back! Just a quickie as I am tired!! We had a great time and I'm glad we still have a couple of days off before we go back to school! Unfortunately Craig has to get up at 5am tomorrow and go to work. I'll try to get on here tomorrow and post more! Good night!!
Howdy ya'll. I tried to pop in earlier but today has been very full. I finally cooked up a couple of the pumpkins we grew this year. Two made enough filling for about 5 pies. I was really surprised at how good it tasted warm with a little salt on it. Two more are on the porch waiting their turn .
Eating has been good this week but the scales refuse to be my friend.
Monet..I hope you feel much better in the morning.
Toni...your spinach pie sounds wonderful. I'm going through a spinach phase right now. Lunch was a spinach, onion, and mushroom soup. Last week it was tuna. I just couldn't get enough.
Good evening everyone. Went out of town today and got the oil changed on our truck. Also picked up some meds for DH and stopped at the grocery store. Ate lunch out and had a small chicken strip salad. I ordered the wrong one. I thought I was getting the grilled chicken but when it got to the table it was fried chicken strips so I ate it anyways. Next time I'll pick more carefully. There's a parade in our little town tomorrow evening. They're having the Budweiser Clydesdale horses come through town. I'm hoping to see them.
CountryMom-Wow what a wonderful day you've had. How great to be doing your own pumpkins. Do you grow a special kind? I lost your recipe for whole wheat crust you wouldn't happen to still have it would you? Your soup sounds so good, did you make it from scratch? I love spinach, mushrooms and onions. I know what you mean about the scale not being your friend. Mine is staying the same for the second week in a row.
Monet- Hope you had a great day and your headache was gone when you got up. Could it be your blood pressure that caused it? Hope you can get the bread crumbs off soon. It will take two of us to remember......
Thin- Hope you've rested up today. Will be good to see you posting again.
Bob- Hows work today? That's so great you're doing good with your eating. I think that's why I like Sugar Busters so well its so easy to follow. I'm getting geared up for the week end. Bad girl I am and need to stay away from that wine...Now if I can just get back on the treadmill.
Well I need to start thinking about dinner. I'm pooped from today so wish someone else was cooking me dinner. Ha ha would love a magic maid. I'm off in search of food...
BUSY DAY AT WORK!!! Season is upon us and the SNOWBIRDS have already started to arrive!!! Working at the hospital for so many years, I'm used to SEASON, but now I'm at the other end of the spectrum! I'm gearing up and getting my head straight.
I've encountered a problem though and need to talk to y'all about it.
I reccomended someone to work at the Drs office where I'm employed. She prevously (sp?) had a perscription drug problem. Over a year and a half ago, she decided on her own to clean herself up. She went through all of the problems she would have encountered in rehab, including really bad withdrawlals. As I said above, she's been clean for over a year and a half.
She started working at the end of July and doing great. Two days ago, one of our Docs broke the news to her that her bones are slowly disentergrating (sp?) after doing xrays on her thumb. She has soriactic arthritis and in her pain, she took a SOMA (muscle relaxer) and became unstandable out of it. Someone said something to me after lunch (I hadn't been to the front all morning because I was really busy) about her condition. While she was waiting for her second xray, I ran into her in the hallway and after talking to her for a few minutes, I asked her "have you taken any medicine here at work today?" and the said "NO"....knowing she had lied to me, and not jumping back at her saying that I knew better, I just said "OK..." I got to work this morning and the first thing I heard after getting in the back door??? She (I don't want to say her real name) has taken something and can't talk, walk or function in her job! Then, my Boss appeared at the door and took me into one of the exam rooms and said.....[i]"If you don't want to get involved, I will understand, but I will probably will need you to drive her home after I talk to her...and I said....No, I understand and yes, I want to drive her home, She's my friend and I care about her...to which he said to me...I want you to know that BAD PEOPLE to BAD THINGS, but sometimes, GOOD PEOPLE do BAD THINGS and no one is blaming you for this"....
I took her home, and someone followed in her car...I asked her on the ride to please get a grip, and that the Boss had asked me to have her call in the morning at which time she can ask him if she can come and talk to him. I also asked her to NOT take anymore pills. She said she wouln't. I told her that I would call her tonight and check on her. I stopped on the way to her house and picked up some breakfast for her, and then asked her to go to bed and get some rest. I just called her and there was no answer! I left her a message and am now talking to you. PLEASE HELP...I feel so bad about her doing this, she really needs the job....
Sorry no posts, but I'm kinda bummed! I'm off to recline...
BOB: Oh, dear. I know you feel that she really needs the job, but you can't MAKE her behave. If she loses the job she will have no one to blame but herself. I hope she cleans up and fast. I am sure the doctor's news about her bones disintegrating was not helpful. I just don't know what to say.
Sorry I can't seem to get here on Thurday's I don't get into the office until 2:00 and then my desk is piles high.
No major plans for the weekend. I am thinking of going to the movies tonight. Maybe to see "Knocked UP" or "I Pronounce You Chuck & Larry". I have heard they both are funny. Tomorrow night if the Pink Tie Ball. I am so excited.
Country, the scale is not my friend. I have had two weeks of great eating (minus the weekends which weren't that bad) and tons of exercise but it is not moving. Hang in there. What choice do we have.
Bob, glad to here your eating is going so good. I agree with Monet, you can't make her stay clean. She is her own person. But you can be there for her and be supportive. I hope she staightens up and comes back to work.
Thin, glad you had a goot time. Get some rest.
Toni, Hang in there, the scale will move. I love to go out and get the chicken strip salad. Just had one SUnday. The grilled ones are good, but not as good as the fried.
Monet, hope you made some pretty things yesterday.
Well the 2 water pills I took this morning are kicking in, so I gotta run. (litteraly) Have a great weekend
Hi All!
I've been in Philly since Monday, so just getting back into things. I noticed that darn scale is just not moving over the past few days. Do you all have any ideas for getting things kicked back into gear? I'm going to try the Spinach pie tonight. Sounds yummy!
Morning! I am headed down to the garagio in a few. Breakfast was cottage cheese and about half a peach...the other half had a huge nasty bruise I decided not to eat! I already had espresso...so I ought to be good for a while!
TINGLE: Stick to plan, drink plenty of water, and step up your exercise for a few days is all I can think of. Maybe watch the sodium and reduce the starchy carbs. It is hard to be patient, I know, but remember the slower you lose, the easier it is to keep it off.
SOLLY: I will be looking forward to your report of the Pink Tie Ball! Have a GREAT time!
I'm down 3 more lbs! Slow and steady, I'm averaging 7 lbs a month since June when I really started putting in the effort. Looking forward to the weekend after a very lonnnng frustrating work week. Going to a little town Gonzales TX for their county fair tomorrow. I am the soloist for the televised Sunday evening church service. I love doing this, I just hate that TV cameras make ya look gigantic! What to wear, what to wear....a side shopping trip is in order maybe tomorrow.
Go Longhorns...beat Rice! Go Cowboys...beat the Bears!
Howdy do everyone. Its a beautiful warm day here in the Ozarks. The kind of day that makes you happy to be alive..... I'm sitting here drinking coffee and listening to the news. Later today I'll go to the parade in town and out to dinner with a friend while poor DH goes to work. LOL. I can't believe our little bitty town is actually putting in a Mexican restarant. I'll have to be so careful around that. I'm planning already that Sunday I am starting back on my TREADMILL. I've got to get some exercise.
Bob- I feel so bad for you. I can't imagine how sad it is to watch this woman having such a problem and trying to help. I hope when you tried to call she was sleeping and just didn't hear the phone. My thoughts are with you.
Solly- Oh boy the Pink Tye ball sounds so fun. You go to the most interesting places. I hope you have such a good time.
Tingle- I hope the spinach pie turns out good for you. Its helping me to try some new recipes. Plus I could just take a piece of the pie and heat it up in the microwave just for me. I'm on my last piece.
Monet- Hope you have a great day with the pottery. Make lots of pretty's...
Just a fly by. I went to the post office to mail a couple packages, then came home and was visited by the neighbors two little girls. I think they wanted to play with my cats, but I had work to do so I was not totally welcoming.
TONI: I mailed your package. I put a little surprise in it. You don't owe me anything, so don't worry about it. I hope you like the bread crumbs.
Just got back from town. The Clydesdale horses were beautiful and it was great to see the big Budweiser wagon and the Dalmatian dog riding on top. I did good for my dinner. The Cafe had fish on the buffet. You get your choice of fried or baked catfish and I chose baked fish with pinto beans and a nice salad. It was good and filling. And a treat I didn't have to cook.
Monet- I can't wait for the breadcrumbs. Thank you so much for them. You're a sweetheart.
Rosemary- My last post got cut off before I was done and I wanted to congratulate you on doing so good. You're a real inspiration.... Keep up the good work.
Well my little Jackson wants my attention. He hates being locked in the dog box while I'm gone.
