I bought 3 tops from Catherine's and a pair of capretties from Fashion Bug Plus. The pants are medium blue denim with white stripes. I feel like they make me look dumpy so I may return them. The tops are keepers and I may wear the black and white one with a pair of white capris tomorrow for the party with black sandals. The Niece bought a top like it in melon so I'm hoping she doesn't decide to wear it since we can't go as the Bopsy Twins!
Off to the couch. Jim is cleaning the oven....well he turned it on anyway. It stinks in here and it's a bit hot. 2 more hours to go.
vickie, one of our best friends here is a contractor. he's going to build it. he's also looking for the land for us. he's curtis' student who just won a national title in california. he's a fantastic person. we are sooooo excited and ready to do this. 2 years ago we found land in texas near my son and tried to buy it only to lose it to the person ahead of us in line. we were depressed for a long time over that. we've done some talking to each other about staying positive and being blossoming where we're planted whether it be a new spot of the one we're in now. (it's hard not to get excited, though, about possibly moving.)
i made it all day without a nap. i'm good to go for sleeping tonight. you're going to be styling in those new tops.
kathy, i'll bet your new do is cute. what happened to your photo? i liked seeing it.
melissa, the oreo police were with us tonight. were they needed in kentucky? our 9 yr old grand was watching how many cookies everybody got. i got tickled at her. no one was to have more than she.
kathy - awaiting pic of the new cute do - if you can tear yourself away from the mirror long enuf!
Sandra - a waterfall and a wal-mart - what more could a girl ask for???
Vickie - sounds like a very successful shopping trip! Have fun in your new outfit at the party tomorrow.
Well my quiet evening was not that quiet? Went to ds' school concert/play. Very fun - but too long and not that cool in the school gym? I did make good use of my water bottle. Ds did a great job - remembered his lines and was loud and clear!
Got a card/$$ from friend who is not coming to the party tomorrow - now my ds LOVES money - the good news is he's a hoarder - and actually saves it! Once he found the $20 in the bday card he starts doing calculations and then asks if he can have a $50 bill? (he now has $61 saved up). So when we got home we made the exchange and he is just so thrilled with his new 'red' bill! too funny.
We of course decided to go out and celebrate. Tooks ds to dinner and movie - japanese place - where I completely PIGGED OUT - yes I was starving! but it was so good! Then to see the new adam sandler movie - click - not as good as expected - some cool effects tho.
Got home to find family room occupied by young 14 yr old ladies awaiting dd's dad to transport them to his apartment for the sleepover! What fun (for all of them ). Reminded her to be back at 10 am for party! Ya - like they're not staying up til 1 or 2 am???
Did a bit of kitchen cleanup, ran dishwasher - then some tv and computer time. I am hoping to get to bed soon. Should I wake up early enuf I shall make an attempt to go the gym (have not been since Monday!). They close at 12:30 on saturdays - but I have to be back by 9 am so I can be ready to leave for party by 10 am - not sure this will happen! Shoulder mildly painful - only if I turn a lot to the right or left - I think the worse is over!
Good morning! Sitting here at work and enjoying my cheerios before I get started. Weight was back down to ticker, actually a bit below, this morning so I was happy about that.
Sounds like a big weekend for the Frouf! Do you think you can get some rest on Sunday? You're gonna need it!
I should get some work done so I don't have to be here all day long ... see you in a while.
Good Morning Chicks! I just got up at 7:30 and have been checking my usual morning internet stops....banking...3FC's. I'm going to go eat in a few minutes and then get started on cleaning those 3 rooms I neglected yesterday.
Frouf, you go girl! I hope you made it up early and are on your way to the gym as I type. It'll help you work off that dinner from last night! Little DS sounds just adorable. My BIL still tells the story about me from when I was little. He's been in my life since I was 2 since my Sister is 14 years older than me! Anyhoo, he tried to take a nickel from me when I was about 4 and give me a dime in exchange. I screamed bloody murder because the dime was smaller. I thought the nickel was worth more. I know better now!
Kathy, I hate that you're at work but I guess it must be necessary or you wouldn't be there. What's up for this weekend? Did Shaun ever find the floor in his rooms?
Angela, be strong! I know it's the weekend. How's your shoulder?
The rest of you are on your own best behavior today. I've got to get my butt in gear and probably won't be back until tomorrow morning. I may be able to sneak in later this afternoon but it depends how efficient I am.
I'm going to the 25th anniversary party tonight of my best GF. I hope she's feeling ok because she's getting chemo shots and oral medication and is awaiting the bone marrow transplant. She says she hanging in there and she has great faith. The Niece and Nephew IL will be there too since the GF, Niece, I and another friend all once worked together. It'll be a fun night for me. I volunteered to drive the Niece and she said no because she's afraid that I'll put the lampshade on and not want to go home! I do have a reputation for not wanting to leave a party. Jim and I and the couple we are celebrating tonight were the last ones to leave our wedding reception. It was a great time!
Good morning friends,
I slept waaay in this morning. We were up till around 1am watching a movie but I had planned to sleep in this morning anyway. I haven't slept-in in several weeks, and needed a restful morning. My stomach was hurting last night and is still icky this morning. Makes me want to eat bread.
Sandra, I'm so excited for you. Please keep us updated on how things go. You may have already said this, but how far away is it from where you live now? Do you have to go for more tests next week? Sorry I'm full of questions. I haven't been keeping up very well.
Vickie, I'm so glad that you found some tops that you like. It seems like you are really excited about the party tonight, and I'm glad that you get to go. You need some party in your life! I have a question for you, but you might not get back to answer it. I was thinking about making your tamale pie today, but I don't have any green chiles. Do you think I could sub a can of tomatoes and green chiles (rotel) instead? I might try it anyway and see what happens!
Kathy, I hope that you are getting all of your work done so that you don't have to stay there very long today. Oh and I like the hairstyle that you posted, I bet it looks great on you.
Well I should probably do something productive. DH Is gone to Lowe's (imagine that) but I'm feeling cruddy and not very energetic. I just want to be a bum today but there is just too much to do!
I am SUCH a slug! I haven't started cleaning yet but I'm running out of time. I have to shower no later than 2:00. So as soon as I get off here I am going to be a human cleaning machine.
Melissa, you need the chilis because they get stirred in with either the FF refried beans or the polenta at the bottom. Lately, I've been putting them in the polenta becaue it's so bland. If you use Rotel, you'll make it too runny. It's SO good, I recommend that you make the effort to make it. Seriously!
Since you have to go to the store anyway, I'd recommend the can of chilis. BTW, I hated throwing out the leftover chilis. So last time I froze them and used them for this pie. They were fine! Just a hint for us penny pinchers!
hi there. i'm up cooking for the big bbq at a friends.
frouf, the waterfall isn't as certain a done deal as the walmart. but we're wanting to build one with a small creek next to where the hot tub will be. of course, we don't have the land yet. ds sounds smart. he'll be good with money when he grows up.
kathy, kudos on getting the weight back to tracker. that's great.
vickie, i'm glad your friend's spirits are good enough for a party. that's important. i'm on my best behavior. have a great day.
melissa, pap smear next week. everything's almost finished. there isn't a part of my bod that hasn't been poked on. i'm glad you slept in. we did, too.
curtis is working on houseplans. tomorrow i'll work in yard. we need to do some major cleaning. sure wish i had vickie's plan and worked it like she does.
Thanks Vickie for the info. I really want to make it, and will try to either today or tomorrow. I assumed I would have to drain the rotel but wasn't sure what it would do to the taste. I'll use the chiles. Have fun tonight!
Sandra, I'm excited to hear about your house plans. I think it would be so much fun (though stressful) to build your own house.
whew! i have time to post now. earlier i was just online to print out that banana pudding recipe. i'm going back to desserts to edit it in a minute. i made some changes and it seems to be better. also, i'll edit the new core brownie recipe i posted. (just adding core granola for nutty texture)
i have been cooking about 3 hours making granola, pudding, mexican cornbread, the jalapeno relish dish. just the granola and relish are core. i put a lot of vanilla wafers in the pudding. that's all that's not core in it.
the funny thing about the cornbread is curtis asked me to make it extra spicy. i blended jalapenos and put 1/2 cup in the cornbread mixture. i put about another 1/4 cup in the meat mixture that goes into it. i garnished it with jalapeno relish. he's going to eat a piece when it comes out of the oven. he's my guinea pig. after he eats, we'll know if we need to put a fire hazard warning next to the platter at the bbq today.
melissa, go check out the pudding recipe. the tweaking i did took care of every bit of the sour cream taste. i remember you and i both had "oh oh" recipes come out of this recipe before.
well, i'm heading to desserts (that sounds good, doesn't it?) i'll make the changes now. hope all of you are having a good day.
Sandra, that sounds like some seriously hot cornbread! I used to go to a restaurant here in downtown Chicago that made jalepeno cheddar muffins. They were outstanding. One of these days, I'm going to use my Core cornbread recipe and throw in some chilis and FF cheddar. I bet it would be good.
Melissa, it's cool you got to sleep in. Lately, I've been getting up at 7:30 no matter what. What plans do you and Aaron have for the weekend?
Okey dokey, time for me to shower. I'll try to be as Core as I can. I sure do want a drink though. Problem is that I like Long Island Iced Teas. Mucho points. Hey speaking of Long Island....where's Niki?
LOL, Sandra ... thanks for the kudos. I've been at 145.8, which I interpret as 146. This morning it was 145.0, which is 145 (well, duh!). It's almost a pound so I thought it was at least the right direction.
I'm about to melt right into the chair. I got home from work, went to Home Depot and got some flowers, aloe vera plants, and ornamental peppers. Came home and planted them and when I walked inside to rest, MIL calls. I talked to her for about 20 minutes (wait, I mean I *listened* to her for about 20 minutes) and now I'm trying to rest. At least while we were talking I emptied/refilled the dishwasher, made the bed, straightened the couch and loveseat in the family room, folded blankets again for the 4,500th time, and iced the dogs. Now I'm about to watch TV for an hour or so, then will cook. We're having turkey burgers and corn tonight, and cantaloupe with blackberries. I hope tomorrow is a quiet day, because I have some flowerbed work to do, along with all the laundry for next week.
