I got busy and have not made it on here for a while. Glad to see all of your progress. Thanks for keeping up the thread it is very encouraging to see all of the progress. I have downloaded a picture but it will not show up by my name. How do I get it to show?

The meeting was very good. It was presented by the local IP sales rep. It focused more on the science of dieting however with some insights into the "how and whys" of the business of IP. It is interesting that IP does very little advertising and relies on a word of mouth. Apparently, the CEO uses the ad budget more towards having the sales teams very knowledgable about the product and the science of the IP diet. I really enjoyed the guy's talk!

We are having another meeting soon, with the same rep, to discuss maintenance and how not to gain back the weight.

One thing I did come away with was some inspiration after watching a video by the IP chef! He had some great ideas about sprucing up your IP packs (which I never do). I had a great lunch of a mushroom omelette taken from his recipes. I'm also going to try his salad dressing made from basil, Olive Oil, Apple Cider Vinegar and the Mango Drink Pack. It looked awesome!

I'm looking at breaking into the 220s naked weight this weekend. So darn close!!

Hey guys!

I haven't been able to spend a lot of time on here over the past month. Lots of travel for work and writting papers to finish up my degree. Its great to see so many new members to the group.

I'll be participating in the 39 mile Avon Walk for Breast Cancer this weekend. It will be so much easier this year not having to carry that extra 90lbs during the walk. I can't wait to post before and after photos to compare with last year's walk.

Keep up the progress!

Wow! Made it this morning 229lbs and that was before my morning "constitutional"!!

Another development is my wife and the "girls at work" think I am getting too skinny and should stop IP. Say what??? Five months ago I was overweight, I was the "Big Guy", "Big Man", "Big Daddy" and "BigT" and my wife was in my ear about my "Big Gut"...now I'm too skinny?

Forget that! I'm not stopping until I get my goal which is officially 16lbs away!

I also have seen how my choice in vehicles was/is partially determined by my size. I drive a full size quad cab pick-up truck because that’s one of the few things I could comfortably fit into - -among other reason of course. It would be great to take the DW Rav4 but when you don’t fit in it you can’t take it.

After living at this size for a number of years and deciding to make a change I’ve discovered all new costs that continue to keep my wallet in perpetual state of pain – for a while any way.

First let’s be honest – IP is expensive – thank goodness it works. Pills, powders, etc. it all ups. Clothing has been another big expense as of late. As I’ve shrunk I’ve had to replace my entire wardrobe. Because I was still in the larger size this has meant I have still had to buy at specialty shops and we are talking big time $$$ for clothing that I need for work – no second hand clothing stores that would be suitable for me in my area. Then as I’ve continued to lose the clothes that I’ve purchased are becoming too big which means even more money spent replacing those things.

These are just a few of my thoughts this morning. Like I said, being …… well cheap I guess is the way to describe it, the cost of getting and being fat has taken a toll on the finances. That’s another goal I have for losing this weight – when I am done it will end up saving me money because I will have more choices on what I can buy.

What about you folks, what has being fat cost you?

Spirit, first quarter cost for the the wife and I being on IP were 3.2k. About 41 bucks a pound for us. As for me this is the BEST money I have ever spent. But like you I gotta remember what being fat cost as sometimes the checking account approaches fumes. You listed most of them except health and quality of life.

When I started this the motivation was COST avoidance and quality of life improvement.

Direct costs include charges for hospitals, doctors and prescription drugs, while the indirect costs include lost productivity and time away from work. We could talk about knee replacement, diabetes, strokes, and cancers …all associated with an increase in the chances of getting those the fatter you get.
The 2nd reason is there is no price on quality of life improvement as 50 pound are gone.
was on a trip to Disney Land. I worked out extra, extra for 2 months to be in top shape to be able to go all day! It didn't work, by 3pm each day my knees hurt, my back hurt, and I was generally miserable. What was I thinking? If you take an elite Marathon runner, and put a back-pack on him that made his weight come up to 300 pounds he would be just a pooped as I was. I can do a lot more now then I could just 4 months ago. I have always been active some call me a gym-rat, but it's the food not the lack of exercise. Believe me I exercised it off once, the older you get, that doesn’t work anymore!
Clothing? Ha, I have purchased some more pants, and a few more shirts. For some reason I kept the majority of clothing I had in the past, as one of the members (KIT) called it ‘Closet Shopping’. The wife was the same way.

Cars? Yes I also like big, but no matter what car, when you are big it creates misery for the person with his knees by his nose setting behind you because I always have the seat pushed back as far as it will go.

Eating out? Guilty like you, just like booze, seems to taste better when someone else makes it or pours it.

So, just checking in before heading to Spokane for a baseball tournament. Had my week 9 WI this morning. Down 3.8# for the week. Total loss is 48, was really hoping for 50 even. But, the good part, I lost 6% body fat in a week, my lean mass went up almost 15 pounds! Lots of stair climbing at work in the last week. This diet has done wonders for me and I tell everyone who will listen.

How'd it feel compared to last year? The pic image is amazing! I picked up a 40# bag of birdseed at Costco the other day and couldn't believe that's about how much I'd lost in 3 months. I really don't feel any lighter on my feet.

Spent the weekend set up at an airshow. Unfortunately the chap stick I thought had sun screen in it, didn't. My lower lip is so swollen this morning I'm wondering if I'll be able to eat today. May be an "all shake all day" kind of Monday.

The walk is 2 days. 26.2 Miles and 13.1 Miles. Last year, I could barely move on the second day. My feet were covered in blisters and my legs were in pain.

This year, I had no issues on day 2. I even jogged several blocks to catch the crosswalk lights before they turned red, lol. Today, I just have a tight calf muscle. Last year, I couldn't move without being in pain for over a week.

It was soo much easier without having to carry all that extra weight.

Had my official WI today and I lost a bit more...down to 234 (51lbs). The pounds are definitely not falling off anymore. I think with the weather change I am more active and likely bringing up some muscle mass. I also think my body is getting tired of the weight loss and just slowing things down.

I went to a friend's birthday party on Saturday and most of the people there hadn't seen me since I started IP. After the awkward question about what terminal disease I "must have" was out of the way, they were all amazed by my transformation! Like I have mentioned I am pretty tall and broad so I actually look kinda skinny now. We were at a restaurant so their interest ended when it was time to order. It was pretty funny how the most interested people still order an apple crumble heaped with toppings and ice cream! I happily ate my steak with double veggies and left satisfied but not stuffed.

I didn't make my goal (220) by Mother's Day but I'm OK with it. I know things are heading in the right direction and I'll get there eventually!

Congrats on the 50lb milestone. You're about 4 days and 13 pounds ahead of me and looks like we've both got about the same to lose to get to goal. I'm shooting for Jun 14 so have about 5 weeks left. I'm hitting P2 whether I'm there or not as I have a week in ID visiting family and it'll be easier doing a bar or shake for breakfast and then joining everyone else for the other 2 meals.
