Seems like we've lost a few folks along the way, at least ones that were on frequently when I started.

KitCamper, HornsFan, and Success Is Messy (who was awfully close to goal) haven't been on in a while. Same with usmcvet and mpstaton but they go quite a while between posts and are probably still around.

Finally got some movement going yesterday for a nice WHOOSH of 2lbs overnight. Now I just need to figure out how to keep things regular enough that it doesn't build up for a week. I've been trying 2tsp of Bragg's Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar which was recommended by a couple of people. I mix it with a bottle of Powerade Zero so you can't taste it. We'll see if it has any beneficial effects over the next day or two.

you go by net carbs (total carbs minus dietary fiber). 8g or less is unrestricted, 9g-16g is restricted, 17g is very restricted.

Alternatives should also be under 200 calories, less than 30% total calories from fat, and at least 12-15g protein.

I understand the net carbs (total carbs - dietary fiber). But, I remember reading that Sugar Alcohol can be deducted reducing net carbs.

Every diet I have been on has worked if I really applied myself. With the exception of the first four days this has been the easiest. If there is one thing I have learned over the decades is this: getting the weight off is the easy part, keeping it off is the hard part. Or as you put it, "Just stay in control" As the author of the Carbohydrates Addict diet said, “Once the weight is off your life is like walking on a thin ledge of an abyss” He then went on to tell of a story of a couple that had kept the weight off for four years. They went on a cruise and decided to completely relax all constraints. ..they gain all the weight back and some more.

I ran into a person who works in my company. I was in-charge of training for two weeks for some project…blah blah blah last September. However I remember Robert because he told everyone several times that he had lost 45 pounds. He was so proud! I ran into him earlier this week. I didn’t recognize him he was so fat. I asked him what happened. He said they sent me up to Summerstown Ontario and the eats were good and the eats were free…

Was asked to chime in here about the sugar alcohols

Here's the thing about sugar alcohols - most of them still cause a glycemic response in the body (causes the body to produce insulin) - which is something that Phase 1 of IP tries to LIMIT. Some sugar alcohols actually rank HIGHER on the glycemic index than a candy bar. Even the American Diabetes Association does NOT recommend that diabetics subtract sugar alcohols when figuring out carbs for insulin dosing. And on top of that, sugar alcohols can cause severe stomach upset - which causes inflammation in your digestive system...another thing that Phase 1 of IP aims to reduce.

The bottom line - based on the research I have done and what I know from dealing with my diabetic husband, I do NOT subtract sugar alcohols. IF you decide to try deducting them, you should only deduct HALF (this is also a recommendation from the American Diabetes Association, for people on advanced diabetic protocols). If that's the route you want to go, just pay very close attention to your body - watch for digestive issues (gas, diarrhea, bloating), and watch for any reduction in your weight loss. Either (or both) would be an indication that you should reconsider the product.

WUV2bloved and Scorbett have doctorate degrees in IP ology.

For men who have wives/girlfriends on IP that thread 'Crankmeister IP' should be required reading. Especially the 2nd post by Scorbett. Explains a lot!

Most of everything I know about IP came from these 2, either directly or them being quoted by others.

Awesome job Hottie! 241 pounds that is FREAKING AWESOMENESS! I can't use the words I want the auto censor will edit it!

He guys checking in. I've been out of touch for a while. I want to get back on the IP wagon and start moving towards goal again. Had a great trip to Battleship Cove with my son's Boy Scout Troop last weekend and I am planning for a week at camp with his troop the last week of July into the first week of August. I want to drop some more weight so those hikes are easier!
