Hi how is everybody? I'm a little worried because I will be unable to workout today and tomorrow because of back pain. What do you do different when you are unable to workout?
Sorry to hear about the back pain. Perhaps you could do some stretching or research workout routines to try when you are feeling better.
The end of April is coming and I am trying to keep on plan even though I passed my monthly goal. I wanted to be 141 on April 30th (actually I wanted 139 ) and today I weighed in at 137. I guess the cross training has been working. I've been doing a lot of exercise & mixing it up.
aluxa - apologies if you've already explained previously but can you go for a mellow walk without hurting your back? If you get in an hour or so of walking, that will keep your calorie burning chugging along. Hang in there!
Well I made my April goal! Yesterday morning I weighed at 199.0 and again this morning so I'm going to take it. I'll post my HM update on Wednesday.
It was a tough weekend as I had a hard time getting all my food in. My MIL passed away suddenly on Saturday morning and so it's been a very emotional weekend. We're taking things day by day but I feel so horrible for my DH, DD and FIL. They were married at 16 and were looking forward to their 39 anniversary this year. I don't think he's ever even cooked a meal!
Anyhow I made my goal and will think this week what May's goal will be.
I'm still not close, still sitting at 209-210.. but i'm doing some sort of exercise for either 30 mins or an hour, mostly hour long (walking) so i guess for this month if i dont make my goal thats ok im still working toward being healthier!
NightAngel-I love swimming too! It's a great change of pace from running. I tried to go yesterday, but it was closed for some reason. I may try again tonight. I really want to, though I really need a relaxing night. I feel like I haven't had one in awhile.
onestar-No worries. You made the best of it! That's great!
JayMar-Welcome! We also have a related exercise thread that you may want to consider for next month also. It's a good place to log your exercise!
Rashomon-I'm sure you're not thrilled, but at least you know what was going on now.
dancerindenver-The cal counting is good. It's time consuming, but it's worth it to be on track. It will get easier once I have a set number of meals I know all the info for, ya know? I was at that place when I was doing it on paper last year, but I've added a lot of new foods and even more whole foods and stuff...always improving!
aluxa-If you can't do any workout at all, then be sure to adjust your calories accordingly...if you're burning less, you should eat slightly less.
motivated chickie-Yep! Whatever you're doing is working! Keep it up and those pounds will continue to fly off of you. You're so close to being to goal!! AWESOME!
tamaraj-So sorry to hear about your MIL. I'm sure that'll be a tough adjustment for your family, esp. FIL and DH, but good for you for staying onm track through it all.
luciddepths-You're so right. I often remind myself that I'm SO much healthier now than I used to be, so no matter what the scale says, I can hang on to that!
I'm feeling worn out after another day of extensive yard work. It's fun but tiring designing and implementing my own landscape plan, let me tell ya! Like I said before, I could really use a relaxing evening with little to no activity just to recouperate and refresh. I'm feeling super hungry right now and I don't know if it's because I had to change my scheduled meal and I'm low on cals or if I'm just extra hungry from working so hard earlier today. It's not a craving thing since I would be happy with an apple or anything. I gotta get on fitday and see where I'm at with cals and see if I have room for a snack. Have a great evening all! I'm off to run kids to soccer and piano. I'll try to hop back on later, but I may be in zombie mode!

Hi Everyone~Im still hanging out. Doing my thing. Its been raining so I can't go hiking. Kinda bummed, but getting errrrrr done. Keep up the good work everyone. WTG
Hey chickies!! So, I got in that bit of relaxation last night. Not quite as much as I hoped for, but it was nice anyway. I was also happy to see 132.8 on the scale this morning. Overall, I'm seeing a great trend weight-wise for the month. The day-to-day fluctuations made it seem less productive this second half of the month, but week-to-week I'm very pleased with the numbers!
aluxa-I agree working out is a great help for mood improvement, but if you can't move you have to work with what you've got. I hope you're more mobile soon so you can feel better.
Dixiemae-Hopefully your weather will improve soon so you can get back out on the trails. Thanks for checking in and letting us know how you're doing. Keep on making those healthy choices!
As we close in on these last days of the month, let me know if you've reached some or all of your monthly goals, so I can mark up our goal list in RED! I'll post it below and mark the appropriate people as they report!
Gosh girls, this list has been awfully quiet. Where is everyone? I'm really missing some "regulars" from past months (TummyGirl, Sandye, LatetotheGame, Shrinking Girl) and it seems we haven't heard from lots of you about how you're all doing. Please drop us a quick update post! I know I'd love to find out how this month has gone for you.
I'll be posting the new May Weight Loss Challenge in a couple days, so be sure to think about what you'd like to accomplish for next month. I'm looking forward to it myself...more gardening and outdoor time!!
Checking in to say hello. Down to 227.6 lbs as of this morning, which puts me down over 20% of my starting weight, and 4.4 lbs below my goal for this month. The hospital confirmed that my MIL did, indeed, have a stroke, but she's doing well all things considered. She doesn't have any paralysis, just weakness. He speech is pretty much back to normal and the hospital PT has her up using a walker a few times a day. She can't go far before getting too weak, but it's a good sign for the future that she's already able to do that much.
WOW! congrats to those of you that reached your goals early
Aluxa - I hope your back is better today.
Sorry I haven't been around, I've been working like mad on my dissertation (aka. thesis). No chance of me making my goal this month. I'm up 7 lbs! Dissertations must be full of bad carbs
I havent been able to post lately ( that was part of my goal). We had a little family emergency since my last post. I woke up the morning of the 15th and my mini dachshund had lost the use of his back legs. I immediatley took him to the vet, they told me he was going to need surgery and sent me to a vet hospital. Turns out he ruptured a disk in his back, they operated that day. We brought him home 3 days later, he couldnt urinate on his own and couldnt use his back legs at all. As of now he is able to use the bathroom on his own and is starting to regain some of the use of his legs. We are on our way to a successful recovery!
I dont think Im going to reach my goal this month and Im getting really discouraged. I feel like Im eating right and exercising but Im not losing. This morning I got frusterated enough that Im considering going on Slimfast to boost my weightloss. I dont even know why Im considering that because I have never believed in meal replacements but I dont know what else to do.
Does anyone drink any kind of shake for breakfast? Whether is homemade or purchased. I feel like I havent really been in the mood for breakfast lately and when I do eat breakfast, usually eggs with veggies, Im finding myself hungry an hour or so later. Like, lightheaded/dizzy, grumbling in my stomach hungry.
Msp: yes you are right. Hopefully, today I was able to walk and my mood is much better than yesterday
Eclipse: I hope your MIL will have a quick recovery.
Taurie: thanks I think that it is a little better because I was able to walk for half hour today so that it is a great improvement
SugarRox: sorry to hear about your dachshund , but hopefully he is on the way to recover. I have a friend whose dachshund had the same problem. About not losing weight, I think that you may give little time to your body to readjust again after a stressful situation.
