  • ma26-You're on the list now! WELCOME!!

    luciddepths-You're making good progress!

LouisaH-Next weekend is my challenging weekend...my family reunion out of town. Each family provides one of the meals, so you eat what's there. I will enjoy the weekend and not freak out over any of it. It's not the special occassions that dictate my weight. It's the day in and day out foods. So, no worries!

tamaraj -Glad DH was able to get right in somewhere else. That's a relief I'm sure. As for the veggie, I like artichoke as well, but otherwise I've been trying different greens and I found that I really enjoy kale. I've had it in soupls and salads, so it's somewhat versatile. Let us know what you choose!
  • MsP: So true! Good luck on your risky weekend. I hope to have time to exercise while we're there so I can consume those extra calories and keep on track with my weight loss. Worry and self torture do nothing to help the situation, so I plan to keep up the positive thinking, which does wonders.

Ma26: Welcome and check in often. This forum has been the biggest help in my progress, keeping me accountable, and having people to share my thoughts with, ask questions of, and otherwise keep me from boring the bejeesus out of the people in my real world!

luciddepths: there's nothing like results to keep you motivated, is there? Good for you!

aluxa: You are totally kicking some major weight-loss booty! How exciting, wahoo!

tamaraj: My veggie of the month is asparagus, because it is in season and in abundance here in the midwest. I eat it raw as a snack, in salads, roasted, grilled, in pasta, mmm. Amazing how quickly it makes your pee stink--only downfall. lol. The other veggie I'm loving right now is spinach. There are some good spinach salad recipes on the database here on 3FC. Eating seasonally and locally is going to give you the best tasting, most nutritious veggies available. Find your local farmers on the website local harvest dot org!

dancerindenver: how are you doing on the two-pound challenge?

The scale finally gave in this morning and gave me 178.8, so I'm pretty confident I can get to my April goal of 177, unless next weekend's travel and birthday celebrations turn into a disaster. I seriously doubt that will happen unless I completely lose my mind!

Happy Friday everyone. Have a good, healthy, on-plan weekend!
  • Good morning ladies. I haven't been here much the last week or so, so I'm checking in to say I'm down to 229.8 - out of the 230s! It's been a crazy week. MIL was hospitalized, and we don't really know what's wrong with her. She's confused, can't walk, etc. They think she might have had a stroke, but they aren't sure. She's also a type one diabetic, and he blood sugar was all wacky when dh brought her in. They did a CT scan and I guess are following up with and MRI to tell us more. Anyhow, if I'm not around much the next couple of weeks, that's why.
  • Hi All,
6 days left...yikes...how did that happen!!! Just checking in, don't know if I'm going to make make it but trying to stay positive. Good luck and happy Saturday!
    Hugs,
    K
  • still holding at 170.2. i finally got to add another smilie to my signature yay! ... i'm pretty excited. i'm actually sticking to the plan and follwing through which is a big thing for me because i always quit stuff. but i'm changing. headed to the park in a few minutes. tomorow is the march of dimes 5k walk. i'm excited and my goal is to jog about 30 minutes total. probably willl break it down into 10 minute incremements. the weather should be awesome too.
  • Ugh, I keep bouncing around. It's likely water weight because I haven't eaten that much to actually gain fat, so I've been drinking water like a madwoman.
  • Good afternoon everyone!

Rashomon-Good luck figuring out those fluctuations. That can be annoying, but eat healthy and at least you know you're doing the right thing even if the scale is being crazy!

onestar-Yay on the new icon for your ticker! How did the 5K walk go? Good for you for realizing how you're changing. It takes real changes to not quit when things get tough. You're SO worth it, though!

Krista-Thanks for checking in! I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like this month has flown by.

eclipse-Sorry to hear about MIL. Stroke was the first thought I had too. Whatever it is, hopefully they'll figure it out and she will recover well. That's awesome that you hit a new decade!! Keep up the healthy choices. You're doing so well!

I tried to get on here yesterday and check-in but the site was down. I'm on day 3 of eating 1500 calories (up from 1200). So far so good. I'm not counting Thursday since I indulged in some delicious treats and surely went well over 1500 calories. The last couple days I've been using fitday to log my calories and make sure I'm properly balancing my calories. I've hit within 25 calories of 1500 each day, so I'm happy with the planning I've done. It's kind of a lot of work right now as I figure out how to stay in that range 'til I hit goal. Once at goal, I may go back to counting Points through Weight Watchers rather than calories. I guess I'm going to do whatever allows me to maintain most easily. I'd love for it to become instinctive at some point. It's pretty tedious to keep track of nutrients and calories so carefully, but I know it's worth it to get to goal and feel this incredible healthy feeling. I actually feel incredible now and I moved my goal back to 129. I was switching it to 125 (the bottom(?) of my maintenance range), then I figured 129 is still GOAL...it's just at the top of my goal range. I'm really pretty pleased with my appearance and fitness. At this point it's more a matter of what physical challenges I'm setting up for myself to keep me active and improving my endurance, muscle tone, etc.
  • howdy, girls! Sorry I was a bit MIA this week - was on a business trip and was having major trouble sleeping, which led to falling off the wagon a bit food wise. Haven't weighed in since but will soon.

Hope you all are doing well!
  • Ack! I am horrible with remembering things... Um, somehow in a week I dropped 5 pounds, probably due to TOM showing up. so I'm at 140.2! Which means only .2 pounds till i reach my goal for the month!
  • dancerindenver-Way to get right back in the saddle! Hope you're sleep s better now.

bama girl-WOW! That's a lot to lose in a week and SO close to goal! Very nice!
  • yay I think...
well I ate a bit over today but I took my first goal treat and went to the resort to swim, so 2 hours of swimming ought to make a difference! It was fun. I love pools! Hope everyone is well, for some reason I'm very tired tonight. Gonna get off here and relax for a few I think.

  • Ms P- i'm sad to report that we didnt actually make it to the walk. we left a little late then there was major traffic issues. so we were not even halfway there and it was start time already so we just chose to do something else. we went to a local (and pretty popular) exercise trail/park and walked for like 2 hours. i was still in the mind set of pushing myself today and i had to get that out of me (if that makes any sense). so, dissapointed we didnt get to the actual walk but still got in a good work out. only jogged about 20 minutes total though. it was still a good day.

    eating was OP also.
  • Beter late than never!
I just found the forums today and since it's the end of the month I'm going to be very realistic.

My April goal is to join the new gym in town (got all the info today) and log 2 hours this week on the elliptical.

(I've got 70 pounds to lose and can't wait to drop the second digit on my dress size.)

I figured it out. ToM came a week early. Twice in one month. That is so not cool.
  • bama - wow, congrats!

    jarmar - welcome!!!

rashomon - so sorry about the double visit - that's a bummer. Maybe you'll have an extra whoosh after?

onestar - sorry you missed the walk but good for you for getting in a major workout anyway - that's a lot of calorie burning in two hours!

nightangel - you are a swimming machine!

msP - how's the calorie counting going?
