Good afternoon, peoples. I'm here. And I need to be here more, because things are spiraling back to gaining weight back and snacking too much. As I have said time and time again before, when the accountability drops the weight jumps.

snake bite treatment is to wrap up all the affected limb with snake bandages to reduce blood circulation so that it restricts the venom circulation; make sure the person doesn't move, for the same reason; and make an emergency call - get helicoptered to hospital for an anti-venom. Works for everything except Death Adders, because for them you've only got a narrow window (erm about 3-4hrs maybe from memory), so tricky to get the right treatment in time if you're somewhere very remote. Guess realistically you'd go through the same process but just hope it wasn't a big hit of venom...
Death adders also different to other snakes too because they just hang around under leaves using the ambush method for finding food, which is bad really because you could both surprise each other without intending to. Never heard of anyone directly been bitten by one though. In fact we see venomous snakes of various sorts all the time, but I've not heard of anyone being badly bitten so it's rare. Most are as keen to get away from you as you are to get away from them.

Thanks for the info. We only have one kind of venomous snake in this part of Canada and I've never seen one. I'm glad of that

8 days on the 'back-to-basics' regime for me and feeling great. 114.8lb this morning. My weight hasn't changed but I suspect a non-typical dip might have happened when I weighed in last week, and at least I feel like I deserve to be here more now! Winter happened in that time. Everything was still summer, until Tuesday when we got an icy blast and since then it's been winter and i'm not loving it!
Shannon - we've all been there a million times. Really hope you can get back in to making the good choices again soon, and feeling good about yourself cos feeling bad about yourself takes up way too much time! Good luck and well done for posting.

Solid end to the week. I'm down a little from the beginning of the week, and I feel better. I feel more in control diet wise right this moment than I have in the last few months.

Shannon, I need some of your feeling of control. I've been completely stressed out for months and that brief period of prior clarity has not returned. I do everything mired in anxiety. Chronic insomnia, too much work and the foster parenting struggle have sent me off the edge again. I may weigh 200 pounds for all I know.

Oh dear....
I’m so sorry....
Is there any help available? Therapy or a social worker?

I can't believe how cold it is here - still! DH turned the heat off yesterday and forgot to put it back on at night. I woke up around 2 a.m. and was freezing. Going to wear my jacket and fleece hoodie again today.

I do fit into my shorts - checked that yesterday. Hoping to wear those soon!

JZJ - I'm sorry to hear the stress has continued and built. Is there anything we can do? Anyone you can talk to locally?

Dagmar - fitting into your shorts is good. I currently don't fit into mine, I'm working on that.

Decent weekend here - we went to a movie Sunday afternoon and had popcorn, so I'm a little squishy feeling from that. Otherwise okay. We have DSS all week this week, he and DH is taking vacation and hanging out with him. I think they have movies and video games planned.

I'm drinking coffee at work, looking at the meetings I have planned this week.

Thanks for checking in, JZJ. I wish there was more caregiver support for you. How old is your daughter now?

Dagmar, excellent to fit into shorts! Blow some of your chill towards the southwest, will you? We are finally up in the 90s with triple digits predicted soon.

Shannon, hang in there!!!! I'll be sending appetite suppressing thoughts your way.

I didn't hike last week because of thunderstorms in the mountains. It's too hot down low and bad weather up higher, so I stayed home and did gardening. This week looks a little better to get up into the cool air. I'm getting plenty of steps but walking on the flat just doesn't cut it.

NONE of my shorts fit. I tried them on yesterday when I was packing for my trip to Houston on Wednesday. Ugh.
I was definitely skinnier (but less muscular too) when they fit. My booty is definitely bigger (but muscular) from riding the Peloton bike. Guess I have an excuse to get some new shorts. I am eating more calories, but I'm also burning more and feel strong, so trying not to angst about the scale.

I was woken up last night abruptly by very loud scratching in the walls above my head. There has to be a critter in the attic/walls. Kitties were literally climbing the walls!
I investigated best I could, called dh in China, banged on walls.... tried to go back to sleep... still lots of noises...
Went back to garage-- put up garage door for awhile and took a big stick-- which I banged all over the walls and ceiling of the garage. No more noises after the second trip to the garage-- it left? It went to sleep?? Praying I don't hear it again tonight. We've been planning on getting our insulation replaced, attic cleaned, etc. for awhile-- so we contacted someone who is coming after I get back from Texas. I'm hoping the critter takes a vacation too and doesn't bother the pet sitter!! The dogs were nonplussed about it which I find funny as the cats were definitely on hunting mode!
