What a busy day and with an early start! I didn't think I'd ever get done! I have a friend in the antique business, and since I also use to deal in antiques, we have the same tastes. She has multiple booths where she sells and occasionally I will help her move furniture and reorganize her booths. We just make a day of it, and today was one of those days. I'm afraid moving things will have to count for my exercise today because I'm pretty exhausted and doubt I will get to the gym tonight! The scale did not move today. I wasn't surprised. I was pretty stiff and sore from my workout yesterday. I won't be surprised if it doesn't move tomorrow either!

Week 9: High 199.5, Low 198.5

Rennie, another drop!!! I am just loving your success! And oh yes, yogurt is very gut-healthy. It has live cultures of good bacteria, which act as a probiotic. Yogurt past an expiration date might still taste good, but the cultures may not still be alive, which means you won't get the benefits of it as a probiotic. I have not taken black cohosh before. I didn't even think to look up side effects. That's something I usually check beforehand. I guess I'm desperate to get rid of the hot flashes lol!

Carol Sue and Mars, I hope you both got good reports at your doctors' offices!

Carol Sue, I tend to go back and forth with yogurt like that. Right now, I'm on an "eat it" kick. When I start slipping away from it, I too stop buying it.

Hi Chickadeee and Obie, I hope y'all are having a good day!

Thanks Jacqui , glad you got to spend time with a friend doing what you love. Great job on the exercise (helping). You never know that may be just the movement you needed to get the scale moving ... here's to a nice weigh in Well I know you can return things to GNC, even if it is open. They want you to be completely satisfied.

oh confession, I ate 4 vanilla Oreo's ... TOM cravings are getting the best of me

Ok I'm gonna try to get 7 hours of straight sleep

It sounds like a busy week for everyone!
Rennie You can go to Bubbie's website and enter your zipcode to find a retailer that carries their products. http://bubbies.com/wheretobuy
I entered RDU, NC from you avatar and got Whole Foods, Publix, Earth Fare. Hope you got in some good sleep. I'll add in my congrats for your progress!

Chickadeee Those pork rinds sound great. I know they used to be part of Atkins, so they are probably 0 or super low carb. I really like crunchy things! I'm not familiar with the triple zero yogurt, but I have used stevia with no problem (drops from GNC). Everytime I read you had roll ups, my mouth starts to water

Jacqui sounds like you definitely got your exercise today! Maybe your muscles are happy to have a different routine today so that the sore ones from yesterday can repair themselves. I hope the cohosh gives you some relief.Obie I really enjoy reading your progress. It sounds like you are doing so great on the 21 day fix. I'm curious what you are thinking of doing after you complete it. The low carb friendly restaurant sounds great! I wish I knew how to make zucchini chips. Go YOU for exercising!I hope the hunger has worked it self out.

Carol Sue I hope your appt went well. Do you check BP at home? Maybe it is lower at home--some people's BP is always higher at the doctor's office. "White coat syndrome"

My appt was yesterday and the lab was closed by the time it was over so going tomorrow. The good news is no cholesterol test, just thyroid & vit D, so no need to fast Both the medical asst & doctor commented that Ive maintained wt loss for the most part. It's ironic that she made the comments before about gains when I still weighed 12 lbs less than I do now.

No scale news here, wt about the same as yesterday, but lower than last week
EDIT Wed morning down a bit to 166.4, a happy confirmation that this WOE is working!

Rennie, TOM will definitely give you those cravings! I crave chocolate so badly the week before, it's almost like a bad itch! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you to have a post-TOM whoosh!

Mars, yay on the drop! I like the new 6 in your number! C'mon 5!

Chickadeee, I love tuna for breakfast! I used to do that a lot. BUT I have to admit, I've never had cream cheese in it! I've got to try that! Is it full-fat cream cheese, or does it make a difference? I prefer full-fat dairy products, except for milk. I like 2% milk.

Carol Sue and Obie!

So although I didn't get to the gym yesterday, I did convince DH to go to the walk park after dinner, and I walked a 1.2 mile-lap there. I don't know why, but that seems so much harder than walking the track at the Y! It has to be the hills and the fact that the wind's blowing, etc.

I went for my Dr appointment yesterday but it was the wrong day. It's Thursday. I looked at my note. I wrote Thursday but my mind saw Tuesday. I'm glad, because both my weight and blood pressure were up and I want to get the BP down a bit. I will drink lots of water and try to avoid salt. Do some walking.

The day after I had the stuffed cabbage rolls I was back up to 203. I was mad, because the cabbage rolls are low carb, but might be high sodium. That could be why my BP was high, also. I check it at home and it was really high, and might even be higher at the doctors. So yesterday came and I was really hungry for pasta. I made it for dinner and ate it with a lot of meatballs. It was very yummy and satisfying. Last night, I was up about 6 times during the night, going to the bathroom for one reason or another and this morning I am down 2.5 lbs. back to 200 and a smidge. Just can't hold that Onederland, but I'm glad I'm back down. I am assuming it was sodium holding the water weight. I used home made sauce on the pasta so there probably wasn't nearly as much sodium as jarred sauce. Even though it was high carb, I'm glad I got to enjoy it and also show a loss.

I found Bubbies 9.5 miles from my home but it's in an area we never go to so I doubt if I will make the trip just for that. I would like to try it so I probably will if I'm in that area. There is a restaurant out that way that we like but don't go to often. I do like sauerkraut but don't eat a lot because of the vinegar. I could probably rinse it, but I don't know if that would take away the benefit from eating it.

Re Bubbie's sauerkraut, the benefit is that it is fermented rather than brined. So no vinegar, but lots of good probiotic bacteria. And it goes down easy because no vinegar. But it does have some sodium, not sure how much. They also make dill pickles that are probiotic, but their bread n butter pickles are not.

Carol Sue, sounds like you know what to do for tomorrow's appt! Maybe the rice in the cabbage rolls pushed the scale up. What I learned in IP is that one of insulin's actions is to tell the kidneys to hang onto sodium instead of letting go of it in the urine. Water always follows sodium, so net fluid retention from anything that stimulates insulin. On that diet, I had to add salt just to keep from getting dehydrated. Insulin does all sorts of things I'm still learning! Your pasta sounds good, and good for you! Congrats on the quick drop.

Jacqui, yay for working out & so glad the scale rewarded you!

I bow to you all who are managing hormonal flux. Those cravings are oh so powerful! Although I packed on my biggest wt gain sfter menopause, I gotta say it's been easier to manage my eating now.

love2b150 - I wanted to hug you and your 4 oreos. TOM hit this week and I haven't been horrible, but there have been little cheats here and there. My ankles are currently super swollen....blah. I hid the scale till its over because I would have just gotten upset and probably cheated more.

I'm not sure who mentioned, but I think i'm going to try the pork rinds for dipping in stuff like guacomole.

21 day fix...I love it...I thought by week 2 I would be tired of her, but since there are 7 different workouts I'm not bored yet. It finishes next week and I ordered t25. I read the reviews and its way more cardio than I like, but I found a beachbody workout generator where you put in the DVDs you have and its spits out a schedule. So we'll see. Also this week I may try one burpe..blah.

In two weeks I go away with a group and my vacation eating is either really great or super sucky...so we'll see. After that my summer is pretty calm so I'll be able to really focus.

Jacqui on precarb weight and yay on working out.

Carol Sue
good luck on the Dr appt.
