Well, I didn't follow plan that great this weekend, but I don't think I totally crashed and burned, either. Well, a little--but not too bad. I hope.
I have become addicted to the shakes and bars as an easy fallback for poor planning on my part. I realize I really need to stop relying on them so much...but it's also hard when they're so good! Love that variety pack!
Anyway, I helped host a dinner party Saturday night for some teacher friends, and I did ok with my dinner--chicken and veggies--but not so hot with resisting the desserts. My friend and I made Indian food for dinner, and the guests were all supposed to bring desserts or side dishes. Everyone brought desserts.
I ended up eating 2 brownies with chocolate-chip-cookie-dough frosting, and a couple little Indian sweets (kaju pista rolls). On the bright side, I avoided the other 2 pans of brownies, the cookies, the peanut brittle, the cheesecake factory cheesecake, and the other treats people brought. Which is much better than I would have done before MRC.
I was ok on Sunday, until I got over-hungry when checking on my mom's dog (she's in the hospital for tests) and I hate a handful of fig newtons.
I am so close to -30lbs, I really hope this doesn't derail me, but we'll see. I don't have time today, so I'm going to weigh in tomorrow.
I must say, though, that I have notice a boost in my energy the last week or two. I really think I've hit the tipping point where my weight loss is really starting to make me feel better.

That's awesome!! I think that is THE biggest benefit of this diet for me...the weight loss is essential also but having energy is a blessing and an answered prayer! Yay for feeling alive
Alright ladies...I'm tired of brussel sprouts, cucumbers and green peppers. I need some veggie help - any good ideas/suggestions? I'm thinking about trying squash but I'm not familiar with much other than yellow squash. Any suggestions?
Hey there..Do you eat broccoli? That's one you can have. Sauteed mushrooms (well..heated in a pan)..Spaghetti squash is nice to try (kind of a pain but goes with a lot of stuff). What about cauliflower? There's a cauliflower/mashed potato like recipe in the cook book. You basically cook the cauliflower until is soft enough to mash. You can add butter buds or whatever to make it like mashed potatoes. Cucumbers are really my mainstay. It's the easiest for me to stick to b/c I put vinegar and splenda on them. I have been jumping around to different diets lately and now I'm forgetting what I can and can't have on this one..darnit!

I love to take yellow squash and zucchini...spray with a little olive oil...garlic powder, thyme, and pepper...and roast at 400 until begins to brown. Yum!
Also, try spaghetti squash. It can help your pasta cravings! Cut it in half, scoop out the seeds, and cover in plastic wrap. Microwave for 6-10 minutes until soft. Then shred with a fork and it will be pasta-like. I LOVE it with the tomato basil or cream of chicken for sauce. So yummy! (Even my husband loves this!)
I also roast mushrooms and asparagus the same as the squash. Anything roasted is yummy.
Thank you SO much. Is Joy your name? Or is that just a cute name for the board? Have you lived in Lafayette your whole life? I have a TON of family up there. Several cousins and their children as well as an aunt and uncle in Attica. My mom was born in Remington and grew up in Rensselaer (very small town) but moved to FL when she was in high school. My husband is from South Bend so we try to get there every year or two to visit both families!

Hi Rocki, no Joy is not my name -- just a reflection of my love for JEREMIAH WAS A BULLFROG -- "joy to the fishes and the deep blue see, Joy2YouAndMe!" I don't live in Lafayette, but I do work at Purdue. My name is Jill. I live just north of Attica, so who knows -- I may actually know your family. And when my parents were young, they lived and worked in Attica. My husband teaches at Seeger High School. And I surely know where Remington and Rensselaer are! Smaller world all the time! Cheers Rocki! (oh, is that YOUR NAME?
Sheesh, guess my user name should have been Joy2UnMe. I got it backwards. So figures!

Thanks Rocki! I burned out on broccoli first...still have it occassionally with a little pepper jack cheese. I think I will try cauliflower - I've heard a lot of people making cauli-mash!. Thanks again
Evening all! sorry I've been mia, I had alot of thinking to do about this plan. I went to mrc saturday and yet again no loss so I had a long heart to heart with the manager of the place and she thinks my body is in starvation mode just because of ketosis and they don't have any ideas on how to fix that for me without me shelling out tons of money on more pills and not knowing if it will work or not. So after reviewing several options I decided I'm gonna opt out of mrc and go back to weight watchers mainly for the reason it's not lower carb (unless you want it to be) and the manager agreed that my body needs more carbs than the average person for some reason (probably from 13 years of yo yo dieting and abusing my body I'm sure) so I'm definitely NOT done with my weightloss journey, I'm just taking a new road on it I still plan on being at goal by my bday in february. I am sure gonna miss you all! you have been so great for motivation and inspiration! I'm sure I'll be checking in on ya'll as I'll be around the 3fc boards for sure. So I still haven't went off plan, tomorrow I'll just switch to the new one on ww so I'll keep plugging along for sure

Good for you for taking charge of your health, Spryng! I'm really proud of you! Good luck!

Please come by the boards to see us often and to let us know how you are doing. I am going to miss you but I am glad you made a change before getting too discouraged. I wish you the best on the WW plan, it is a good one and I intend to use it as my maintenance.
Again your smiling face and great attitude will be missed so I will come looking for you! Talk to you soon.
I'm sorry the plan didn't work for you. Good luck with weight watchers. I'll be joining you in about a month. I need more than one piece of fruit a day, and it's so hard to stay on this plan faithfully with a family and a social life. If I lived in a cave and didn't have to interact with anyone it would be easy. I came to MRC because I was tired of counting points with weight watchers, however now I appreciate weight watchers because no foods are off limits. It's all about portion control and exercise. $9 a week is pretty good too.
I will miss your daily encouragement and the way you always had a personal "way-to-go" for many of our members. I know you will do well. WW is a great plan and you will succeed. Again, good for you for taking charge. Ultimately we are each responsible for our own outcome.

I've been sauteing zucchini lately. Yum! LIght and flavorful. Just slice the zucchini a little less than 1/2 inch thick, spray a pan lightly with olive oil, and toss the zucchini slices in. I usually toss a little tiny bit of sea salt on them towards the end of cooking. ONce they're browned a little bit on both sides (3-4 mins), take them out.
What about green beans? I love those, with a little bit of butter spray on them.
