I'm new to this forum. I did the MRC program 8 years ago after I had my daughter. I lost 40 pounds and fell off the wagon. I've completed preconditioning and am starting MRC again today. There's no center where I live, so I'm doing the program by mail order and once-a-month check-ins. I'm hoping this forum will give me the frequent accountability/encouragement/inspiration I need to keep going this time.

You warm bodies just beware....it's 11 degrees here in Nebraska, and it is snowing and the wind is suppose to be picking up soon, which will bring the wind chill to possibly 30 below. Imagine that one....I would take Florida right now for sure. Buuuuurrrrrr

Can someone tell me what the difference is between stabilization and maintenance?

Do they keep that secret until you're entering that faze or what?

I don't know if you asked them if they would tell you, but I won't keep the secret from you.

When you start stabilization, they introduce a new food each week for 5 weeks - you add a new starch to lunch 3 days first week - things like bagel, or rice, sweet or white potato. Second week add new fruit for breakfast 3 days. Very important to keep track of what you eat when - you are checking how your body reacts as these foods are reintroduced. Third week you add a dairy serving each day, fourth week, you increase the new starch serving at lunch to every day and add a new vegetable to dinner 2 times in the 4th week - veggies like winter squashes, colored peppers, sweet onions, carrots and corn. Week five you add one fat serving every day, a second dairy every day and increase the fruit serving at breakfast to every day.
Week six you continue to do this same new routine with all the new foods servings added in.

Maintenance is a menu of suggested servings of the different food categories and how many per day you should eat - it is either for 1200 or 1500 calories and you adjust it for your particular needs. Much easier to follow the green menu, in my opinion. Hope that answers your question.

Thank you,
I'm 13# away from stabilization and was wondering what it was also.
Are the HNS and the EFF still required?

Yes, you'll eventuall taper down from what I'm told. I'm on week 1, day 3 of stabilization. So far so good, feeling fine... even lost 1.5 pounds since day 1 so I'm encouraged! I was worried about what adding that extra starch would do to me...
Anyway, they say to drop to 3 HNS, but (and this could be a ploy to keep me buying) my center said they advise to keep doing 4 HNS a day until week 3 when the dairy is reintroduced... we'll see how it goes.

Weighed in today and am down to pre-Christmas weigh-in. I swear I have gained and lost the same pounds over at least 1/2 dozen times! I only re-signed for 10 weeks so I am using that as my motivator, and the fact that I signed in February and I could be looking at 100 pound loss by then!

Good luck to all, especially those just beginning their MRC journey!
