New here, and have read a lot of the posts all over this site. I am impressed. I googled MRC to help make my decision about whether to join or not and there's not much out there. But then I found 3FC and wow with the wealth of helpful information. I joined over a week ago, day 1 of the yellow menu was yesterday. It was tough. You don't realize how much you like food until your DH eats a cheeseburger in front of you. And they don't realize that it might bother you. So I ended day one with being depressed and sad that I let myself get this way and feeling that it's unfair that I have to do this at all and that other people can be as skinny as they want without worrying about calories or protein. But I stayed OP. I'm not trying to blame anyone else, it's just that last night I was hungry and it's the wrong time of the month so I was a wee bit emotional, lol.

I need the emotional support of people who've been there and done that and I hope to post here more often. My DH has also been skinny all his life and even though he's supportive it helps to talk to people who are going through it.

Last thing. How in the world am I supposed to cook for one person OP and one not? That really frustrated me last night, not knowing what to cook with such limited items as are on the yellow menu. Any ideas? I only have to get through 3 more dinners, then I get to move onto the next menu.

Welcome to MRC. As you already know you will find a wealth of information on this site and lots of shoulders to lean on. As far as cooking for yourself and your husband there have been lots of comments from members who cook for their families and themselves and how they've done it. Fortunately for me, my husband tries to eat healthy, so what I do is...I get my 4 ounces of protein and he gets a larger portion of whatever I eat (Chicken breast, fish, turkey) and I get 4 ounces of a vegetable while I make two vegetables of larger servings for him. I also make him a healthy dessert and I have an HNS. I know it doesn't sound exciting, but as the pounds come off you will realize that it is worth the food sacrifices that we are making. Good luck!

Once you are through the yellow and blue menus, your options open up on the green. I have 2 teenage boys living at home and when I make meals together I try to do something we all would like; honey mustard crusted chicken from cookbook, lemon pepper chicken, make them hamburgers and have a buffalo burger for me, stir fry with chicken, turkey or buffalo. Then make them a healthy starch and just don't eat the starch. Also, when going out, learn to request things from the wait staff, even fast food places can accomadate you. If they make hamburgers then they have lettuce and tomatoes. I know, soon you can have them. Good luck and remember, we are here for you!

Okay, I'm back from vacation and I am happy to report I only gained 1 pound! Granted I hated gaining that pound, but considering I ate completely off plan for 4 days I'll take it. We probably walked at least 10 miles a day at the theme parks, so I'm sure that helped!

I am back from Australia and still recovering from jet lag. I did not follow plan at all the whole trip but only gained 2.5 lbs so I am happy. Back 100% now but feel like crap with the jet lag. Anyone have suggestions?

Welcome back, daizy! Hope you had a blast.

Okay, ladies. I'm peeved. For some reason this afternoon I'm super hungry (dang that meal replacement bar for lunch). At about 2:30 I always have my last HNS of the day and it would help me with the hunger. Well, what do you know?! I made it, then sat down at my desk and promptly spilled every last drop of it all over my desk and paperwork. Geez is this stuff sticky! I've cleaned everything really well, but it's still so sticky! Guess I'll guzzle water and hope the hungries go away!

Did you try licking it off your desk??? hehe just kidding...that is pretty cruddy. Do you have an extra HNS in your desk at work? I alway carry 1 or 2 extra in my purse and have 1 in my desk at work. I am sure you are so frustrated right now.

Frustrated - yes! Extra HNS with me - no! I always just bring what I need for the day with me. Lesson learned.

I almost tipped over my glass a couple of weeks ago...I can imagine what a mess that would be. Please keep it away from your computer. I'm thinking that no spill cups would be perfect for us at work. Do ya think we may look funny drinking from them???

Welcome back Funshine and Daisy! Great job on vacation. Sorry about the spilled HNS. Been there with forgetting my whole lunch box. Try to get MRC friendly food at night in a hospital! So lucked out when we had a pot luck that I knew nothing about. Grilled chicken, fresh veggies and a fruit tray! Yahoo! but had to go the 12 hour shift with no HNS.

I have a soup bowl at work that use to hold soup that I can no longer have now it holds about 20 HNS. When I run out I just replenish it. I also keep a package of bar replacements for the days I just don't feel like getting my breakfast ready. Fortunately our cafeteria at work is awesome. Salad bar with everything imaginable and even fresh fish everyday (It also has lots of stuff I can't have) but at least it is there if I forget my lunch. I am fortunate to have it.

Hope your vacations were awesome. I leave in 3 days for mine. I can't wait!
