I've always heard the more you drink the more your body wants.

I was consistently taking in about 120 oz, and last week at WI they told me to cut back some because they thought it might be contributing to my plateau. I cut back about 20 oz, but I don't know for sure if it had anything to do with breaking through the plateau, but at the next WI I finally shed 4 pounds....

I know I have not been getting enough water so I'm working on that... I recently bought a "bubba keg", smaller version that holds 52 oz of water, found this at Kroger grocery store ... my goal is 2 of these a day with H20 and I allow myself 1 diet soda/day as well as 1 unsweet tea per day - I aim for decaf but not always the case. So far so good, I've managed to do this for 2 days now...

GWE - I've had the same problem in the past - specifically when I started the plan. I always thought it was the HNS making me feel thirstier. Unsure though.

Now, If i could only get better about drinking my HNS throughout the day....

Karen and GWE, if the "thirst" is accompanied by a slightly metallic taste, I think it is due to being in ketosis, even just slightly in ketosis should make you thirsty, so that is good.

Karen, how about mixing up your HNSs for the day at the beginning or end of the day, wherever you have time to think ahead. I have some 10 oz Dasoni bottles that I use and reuse (I hope they use 'good' plastics). I mix my grapefruit and fiber for breakfast, and two other flavors and a fiber for lunch and dinner. If I'm out for the day, I take the lunch one with me in a cooler with ice.

While I'm typing this, I'm thinking, this is not the problem, is it Karen? The problem is remembering to drink it during your busy day - you need to put yourself on the 'patient' schedule to get your 'medicine'!!! jeanette

You've got a point there mountain girl. All that money I was giving to Dominos can go for pedicures and massages! Money is so tight, as with everyone, and I feel guilty about spending it on those things, but I sure had no problem ordering a pizza.

HAH! You are so right... I mix the HNS up in the am most of the time and it is so crazy how often I finish the day and that darn thing is sitting on my desk mostly full. On slow days it's doable but on busy days I hardly have time to visit the potty let alone drink my HNS and water. I'm still trying though... speaking of, time to drink my lunch one :0)

As for the ketosis, that sounds like a likely explanation... I hate that taste I get in my mouth when I'm in ketosis, yuck!

Well I have hit a plateau this week...could be the extra water I have been taking in...and yes I do have that awful metallic taste in my mouth, I am going to reduce my water back to 85ozs or so to see if my scale moves...thanks for all the tips. I normally hit a plateau after every 10 pounds and I did lose 10 pounds in the last 14 days...so I am not too concern...I know if not this week then next I will get over it!

I gained back 3 of my 5 lost in the past 2 days. GRRR.

I had Subway twice and 2 nutri-grain bars. After losing 5 pounds I do that. So frustrated with myself. And I swore I'd be OP from now on.

So what do I eat today? ANOTHER nutri-grain bar!

I'd throw them out, but they are one of the few things my 2 year old will eat.

kccross... don't be too hard on yourself... we've all had rough moments the important thing is to dust yourself off and keep stepping forward. Try to consider why you had the subway etc? Are you carb craving or was it just out of convenience? Anyways, why don't you come join our September challenge thread if you haven't already.. many of us have committed to stay 100% OP for the month of September and have set weight loss goals for the month there as well. I know the committment I have made to stay totally OP for September in that thread has really helped me to avoid some very tempting moments over the last few days. Once I make a promise to others I will do everything I can to stick with it and every time I'm faced with temptation I just think of my 3FC friends and the promise I made and I tell myself NO! You can do this kccross.. just think back to the reasons why you joined MRC, how this will change your life and what losing this weight will give back to you. Focus on this and move on!
for you and all the rest of us!

So today I went in for my appt and did not lose a pound They did the tanita and I am down a total of 15 lbs from my start (Aug. 1), 1/2 lb of muscle, 1.5 water, and 13 pounds of FAT! I am losing inches (I think my total was around 16 or 17 inches so far) which is great. If my body keeps up this pace I should be on maint. by New Year's Eve. I'm trying not to get too discouraged and remember that this is a slow & steady process. All I want to do is workout more to help speed the weight loss but they are discouraged me from doing more at the center.

You're right. I tend to loose focus when I feel deprived. I did join the thread, but not off to a great start.

But I joined MRC to loose the weight and get healthy for my kids. I need to remember that!

Thank you.

How funny, cmb. When they ran my Tanita, it showed me up in water. They asked me if I were getting my 68oz plus and I replied I drink 150 oz a day. They told me I might try cutting back to see if that helps my plateau (up a lb today). And here I thought more water was part of the solution.

E4FEWife, inches are better than pounds! I'd rather lose inches and actually look and feel smaller in my clothes instead of the 5 seconds on the scale twice a week.

kccross, don't feel bad about that subway. Karen is right-every meal is an opportunity for a new start.

Thank you, I am feeling better. Went for a walk. I'll be so glad when the weather finally gets a bit cooler here in Florida. All the rain has kept it down a bit, just have to run from the thunderstorms, lol.
