Wow..I'm glad to find someone else who's on the treadmill too! I need to look at my paperwork to see what week. I'll probably start where you are (we can support each other that way). I went tonight and did 5 walking, 3 running, 2 walking, 3 running, 2 walking, 4 running, 2 walking and 6 running. That way I did a total of 16 running like you're doing:). I felt great afterwards. Let's keep it up:). Oh, thanks on the congrats!:) I'm really excited!

Rocki, I'm all about the treadmill! That fresh air and scenery stuff isn't for me, LOL. Maybe if I became a hard core jogger and went for miles...I don't know. For now I like being a gym rat. It sounds like you're about on track w/ week 4 if you're doing 6 minute runs. Week 4's program starts w/ 5 min warmup, then 3 minute jog, 90 second walk, 5 minute jog, 2.5 minute walk, repeat. My body is so tired today! I'll go back tomorrow and do Day 2. I'm going to try to keep up w/ the schedule next week despite Christmas...we'll see how that goes.

I remember the first day...when I had to "run" for something like 30 seconds or a minute I thought I was going to die...and I was "running" at 4.0 on the treadmill! By the time I had lost 50 pounds (was down to 200) I was on week 9 and running for about 20-25 minutes. I couldn't believe I was actually running at 200+ pounds. I was so hooked on the program--and then I went on vacation and when I got back from my trip I could not get motivated and I never went back. I also gained all my weight back in less than 2 months (I binged everyday---ughhhh) I think I will start the plan up again after the first of the year. I just want to take it easy while the weight seems to come off so easy at first with just walking. I also want to be below 250 when I start the program---almost there!
Congrats to you for sticking with the program---see it all the way though! I am sure you must already see amazing results. I would joke that I heard the Rocky theme song at the end of each run. I also was pretty bored of just walking the same speed, same miles, same time everyday. That program gave me something new each week to challenge me.

Bonnie, I'm laughing out loud about the Rocky theme...would you believe that I listen to the Training Montage from Rocky 4 while I'm doing the 3 or 5 minute runs??? Totally gets me going! The program really is addictive, isn't it? I'd love to get to the point where I experience that runner's high that I hear others talk about.

I think you are wise to stick w/ walking for a while. My counselor thinks that my jogging and weight training is making me hold onto water a bit, which is fine, but it is a little frustrating to see the loss slow. Though it could also be b/c I'm getting closer to goal. The lbs are melting off of you right now so keep walking!

OH--and I had the same problem gaining weight back w/ Atkins. Atkins really worked for me in the short term but I find the MRC menu is so much easier to live with long term. I sure don't want to gain all this weight back so I'm going to do my best to stick to the maintenance plan and get back on a menu if the pounds start adding on again.

Bonnie & Denise....let's do it! I want to start at the first of the year also. We could do it together! I've always wanted to run a 5K but have always been too embarrassed to jog outside in front of everyone as heavy as I was. I would have to start inside on my treadmill (January in NE is cold!!) then by spring I would be ready to head outside. I looked on-line last night to find a schedule but must not have gotten on the right site. The only ones I found started you jogging a couple of miles 5xper week. I need the one that starts you at a couple of minutes at a time :)

Do it! It will be a great way to kick off the New Year. I think the first week is the hardest but the running part gets easier and at the same time more challenging...? Cool Running's website has the C25K schedule (www.coolrunning.com) and you can also download a podcast that cues you when to walk/run. Just google C25K and podcast and the creator is a guy named Ullrey.

I can't believe you're about to sign the 40 lb board--CONGRATS a couple days early! I think we started around the same time and I just signed the 30 lb board today :carrot:

I weighed in today and am just .5lbs. away from the 40lb. board. Hopefully on Friday! I went to the store today to look for a Christmas party outfit and I could actually fit into regular ladies extra large clothes! I stood in the store dressing room staring at myself smiling from ear to ear. I didn't find what I was looking for but I left in a great mood anyway :0)

You are also at the half way mark!!! Congratulations!!

Ok, I'm excited. I found information on the C25k and I'm in. :running: I think I'll start around the first of the year. I go back to the basic menu on the 26th, which is too low calorie to run with, but once I'm on the green menu, I should be fine.

I too am a Atkins flunkie. I lost ok with it, but it was short lived - came back really fast. And I knew I just didn't feel right eating all those high fat foods, even though I could grasp the logic behind it. MRC is something I can do long term, feels healthy and makes sense to me.

This may be my last post until Monday. We head out to Vegas (my sister-in-laws wedding) in the morning and I have a lot to do today. Even Vegas is cold - forecast is only mid 40's all week. We finally got snow that stuck to the ground in NE. It's so beautiful!! I love the way the snow makes everything so clean and white looking. And so far, the drivers are being careful on the roads, so it's not too horrible to drive in.

Stay strong & "see you" next week.

Couch to 5k

I am going to check out the program. I have always wanted to be able to call myself a runner, but I've always been so lazy and unmotivated b/c I've never been able to run much. Haha, kind of ironic. Want to be a runner, but too lazy. :?:

Im checking it out now!

I split my protein in half tonight and had 2 oz chicken breast and 1 oz of parmesean crunch...and OMG that stuff is soooooooo awesome! We ventured out into the snow to run to the grocery store for more diet food, but another storm is heading on tomorrow morning with more snow and freezing rain. I'm staying strong, despite the instinctual need for comfort food during cold weather.

CONGRATULATIONS!! How exciting on both! I am sure the 40 lb board is yours to sign on Friday! :cb::cb: I'm glad to read you took time to savor the moment of fitting into regular sized ladies clothes!

Sugar cravings

Can anybody help me remember which vitamin helps curb sugar cravings?I have been having terrible sugar cravings being around all the Christmas cookies and desserts.I want to say it was B-12 or B-6 but I can't remember.

I am on B-6 and B-12. My consultant put me on an extra B-6 at lunch because of the cravings, and it also bumps up your metabolism too!:)

Thanks I thought it was one of the B vitamins.I just couldn't remember which one.I am off to the store to get some more.

SUGAR CRAVINGS....

I thought it was the Chromium Picolonate, but maybe that's just one of them.
