NSV---I made TEN dozen homemade gooey yummy jumbo chocolate chip cookies for my friends and neighbors and did NOT even lick my fingers, have a bite or lick the spoon! I probably gained a pound or two from smelling them tho! Also, all my neighbors are bringing over all kinds of cookies and I am avoiding them as well.

WOW. Just thinking of resisting cookie dough makes me want to cry. You rock, girl!

We went to Kohls the other night and they had those "warmer wear" thermals on sale.... the ones you can wear under your clothes that are really soft and thin but so cozy warm? Ok, back to the story... so, I looked at the back and realized I would be in a Large which was totally exciting!!!! So, yesterday when I put them on (because again.... I am totally into being cozy warm), they were too big!!! WHOA! Like baggy too big! Like falling down too big!!! I WAS SO PUMPED! So, last night my DH went back and got me cozy warm MEDIUMS! I'm wearing them RIGHT NOW and have a HUGE smile on my face! BTW, cozy warm at work is just the best.... well, not better than cozy warm at home but you get the idea.

You crack me up! Congrats on the NSV! I am excited because I picked up a Ralph Lauren button-down shirt at Dillard's last night for $23...in a size large! (I was excited to think I might be an XL, so this was a surprise to me!)

I listen to lots of different music on my iPod. I recently read a tip that you should listen to slower/laid back music b/c it will make you feel like you're not working so hard--I think there is something to it. I still listen to music w/ a good beat, but not the super hyper rock or dance music I used to do. Current faves for my runs are "Have you ever" by Brandi Carlisle, "Rule the World" by Coldplay, "Disturbia" by Rihanna, and anything from the Rocky 4 soundtrack :D

So I did Day 2 of Week 4 today and it was tough! The second series of runs about kicked my a**. I was euphoric after completing it though, so totally worth it. I had to lighten my weights afterward b/c I was so physically exhausted. Have you done it yet today?

I am currently wearing Nike Air trail running shoes. Love 'em. But I couldn't find a replacement pair that I liked all that much, so I'm getting Saucony for Christmas. I've had them before and chose them again because they are so lightweight. I have a pair of high-end arch supports that I bought at one of those stores where they measure your stride and map the pressure points in your feet, and they have been a lifesaver.

Rocky 4, huh? That's fun! I like to listen to Creed's greatest hits in the gym. Also, Melissa Ethridge. I'm usually not really awake when I leave on my morning walk, though, and it would just be too complicated to get music going that early. My dog would probably pee on my leg if I tried to make that work.

Congrats on that 50 lb board!

I got frustrated at the scale and didn't think about my cycle starting and lost it. But I am back on. I don't have cravings but I don't like the time of day that the carbs are to be eaten. I wish I could remove the carb at dinner and place it with lunch and place the fruit with dinner. But I never asked about it. So I am leaving it be. I guess they have it that way for a reason. Any advice for a newbie. How do I subscribe and how do I get a ticker?

Welcome! I think you have to be on the board about 30 days to get a ticker. You'll go to User CP and will add the ticker under your signature. There should be instructions under the User CP heading.

I am 5'-10" too and I have a really hard time believing that I could get to 156. That would be incredible! Are you changing your goal to 156? I know that Denise is also 5'-10" so I have been watching her to see what her final weight is.

Well, the SIGS plan is definitely better than the pre-MRC plan. For example, tonight I drove through Whataburger and just ordered the burger, no drink or fries, and I was fine with that. I didn't feel deprived, and I didn't really think about food again until getting on this board. Mainly I'd say the SIGS plan has the advantage of healthier choices than pre-MRC and smaller serving sizes and virtually no snacks, unless my dad is around. He's such a bad influence! The thing is, I'm just not as hungry as I used to be.

I don't know if I'll change my goal or not. I'm a comfortable 14 now. I think I'm happy here, but it might be fun to be a 12. I just need to go in and see what would be involved in stabilizing after being off in my own world for an extended vacation. What the doctor specifically said, though, was that my BMI was healthy, but that in a perfect world my BMI would be 23 because that is the ideal BMI (news to me). He said that for my height, a BMI of 23 would correspond to 156 lbs. He also said this isn't a perfect world and the BMI doesn't take into consideration bone structure, muscle density, and other fun things, which we all know.

Thanks! I've been trying to figure out why it was so hard for me to part with them, and I can only conclude that I've inherited my grandparents' depression mentality that I feel like I need to save the clothes in case I need them again. However, I also took in two pair of Eddie Bauer pants saved from 5 or 6 years ago that technically fit but were so out-of-style that I was astonished I had ever worn them. So, 1) I don't want to be that size again, 2) most clothing gets dated if you don't wear it, and 3) I am buried under stuff and do not need to store stuff that is not currently useful to me. I need a good stuff purging.

The first time (2 years ago) I didnt get passed Thanksgiving and I just couldn't get back in the groove, but this time I made it and I'm in it to win it! All of you have such great advice. So far in 2 months I'm down 29lbs. I'm so glad I have found this forum, I think it really helps!

Welcome, Jennifer! I think you'll find that this board will really help you stay focused and motivated. This is my second time around, too.

I have felt a bit guilty...ordering from "other places" for my products. So, I ordered from my center. Well, I tried, anyway. I won't go into it...but, regardless of why...and the difficulties with communication...three weeks later...it still hasn't arrived! I got an explanation...but really I guess my point here is...as expensive as it is...appreciate that you can walk in and get exactly...or almost what you want...and the immediate verbal support is SO IMPORTANT!!! I still find it so rediculous that there isn't a MCR center in San Diego. Like ALL the other weight conscious programs aren't already here. Hmmm...if I only had the finances to open a center! :) Bottom line, take care of yourselves...protect your contract...but, continue to refer to the "other threads" about ordering your products!! ;)

Carrie, do you think you need to change centers? I don't get as much attention from my center as I'd like, either, but they have been good to make sales to me.

maintainforlife 12-21-2008 04:09 AM

Hi SIGS...I don't know...maybe it's just the holidays...and being so caught up in the "family crazies"...but, I woke up today thinking...my order would be here..and I'd have a much better attititude...and guess what?...it still wasn't here! So...I'll greet the family...enjoy them for the next few weeks...and then consider transferring to one of the more "engaged" centers...I know the rest of our friends here...could motivate us to do this...at least ask their counselors if they'd like an "out of towner"...:)!!

That is sooo awesome! I have done wonderful until the other day and I caved and had 2 sugar cookies! Thank God I've been skiing for the last 2 days so hopefully I won't see any difference on the scale. It's amazing the difference skiing with 39 lbs off! Also I'm amazed that I truly am not very hungry even with skiing all day! I took my MRB's and cut them in half so when my family grabs the granola bars, cookies etc... mid morning I just eat 1/2 of one of those. Also I didn't bring my scale and it's about to drive me crazy so I guess it's going to my in-law's with me next week! I can't stand not stepping on that every morning.

Also does anyone eat applesauce instead of the apple at lunch? It's easier to pack that applesauce in the backpack so I'm hoping it doesn't mess me up too much!

Congrats. Hope I can get there. Can you tell me a little about your progress. I am started at 234 and until recently never felt like I would get to my goal of 180. Doesn't it feel great to be able to find clothes. It is hard enough finding tall, but big and tall. geez. How do you feel at your current wt. Thanks everyone for all the info on this site it really helps new people who want to hear from vets.

missing my 2pm snack :(

I just moved from Meta-Slim Plus 2 plan to the Meta Slim Plus plan which is exactly the same except there is no 2pm snack which I used to have 4oz cottage cheese. I didn't think it was a big deal because I am never hungry at 2pm when I would eat it, but now its 5pm and I am pretty hungry. We won't be eating dinner until 7:30 this evening because hubby is working late. I also don't want to get into the habit of eating another HSN each day (those suckers are expensive!) This is the first time since I started the plan that I have been hungry! Should I cave and have a HSN or is my body in training for missing that 2pm snack and someday I won't miss it at all?

I would have the HSN. They also boost your metabolism. You are going to have to do something in the afternoons, because you don't want to go more than 5 hours without eating.

JenniferH 12-22-2008 08:46 PM

When I went to WI one of the ladies told me if you drink 3 HSN a day you'll average a 3lb loss/week , 4 HSN a day= 4lb loss/week, 5 HSN a day= 5lb/week. Has anyone noticed their losses correlating with this or is it a sales thing?

I know....the time is sure flying. The only time it seems slow is when I'm sitting at a table full of food and watching everyone else eat :D

I would have the HNS also. You wouldn't want your metabolism to slow down because you're hungry or because you've gone too long between meals. I understand about the expense though. I just keep telling myself that if I wasn't on this diet I would have been eating a lot more food so that's making up for the HNS cost.

I've never heard that before.....sounds like a sales pitch to me. I know people will say that you optimize your weight loss by drinking the max amount but I've never heard anyone say you could average 5 lbs. a week. I drank 4 or 5 my first few months and I've averaged about 2.5-3lbs. the whole time and all I took was 2 flaxseed pills with every meal and a multi-vit. I wanted to get by with as little expense as possible. I just recently started phentratrim to see if it would boost my loss a little but have not noticed any difference yet. I've been taking it about 10 days now. I won't buy anymore if I don't start seeing my average go up.

Welcome to the board btw if I haven't told you already :)

I was hoping someone else could answer this...but I was told to only eat apples and not applesauce. But if it's unsweetened then I can't see what the harm would be.
