Wow, the trend hasn't made it up here to Oregon yet. When I used to make my own granola (so good!) I ate it on apple sauce for dessert. Yummy! As for me, I've got a pile of baklava and hazelnut shortbread on my counter. Not sure where that's going to go.

Everyone around me is sick. My husband picked up what is likely a mild flu from someone at his office. I feel like I should wrap myself in a bubble for the next week. Sheesh.

Georgette - baklava... yeah, I'd have to give that away. Or put pepper on it and put it down the garbage disposal. Srsly. No self control there.

That's one of the nice things about working outside with dogs. I rarely get sick. And there also isn't a coffee room full of snacks and treats.

I wouldn't mind a coffee station at the beach - just a shed with a pot of coffee going, milk, spoons. And a port a potty shed beside the coffee shed.

Oh man! I can't imagine going to the beach in the weather you are having, Dagmar!

Shannon, I took my first full sick day since starting this job 9 years ago yesterday. Like Dagmar, I rarely get sick. I'm a school nurse, so I'm exposed to everything and my immune system is an ARMY! But, I do spend a lot of time "almost sick" in the winter. I've had that a couple of times this year, and then this one just snuck up on me. I spent yesterday taking baths, napping, taking lots of Vit C and elderberry syrup, and eating pretty much just broth. Today, I seriously feel 100% normal. Not great, but completely fine.

One thing that I think let this illness get to me is I have been terrible about water the past few weeks. Not good. Gonna work on it.

Hiya!

I have a LOT to do today. DS is down with a little fever today, and DH is going shopping. I'd like to get the house picked up while he's out. Motivation? Not so much, but gonna reach out to some friends for help.

I've been doing alright with all the Christmas food offerings. Getting a virus helps, not in the mood for gluttony.

I'm glad the "holiday" eating is over in my own house. I have eaten some stuff that I really did not want "because it's Christmas". My body has reacted badly to it. First time for that. I guess it's because I don't binge eat in front of the TV any more. My stomach has shrunk and now protests mightily if I try to stuff it beyond what it wants to eat. My brain has finally clued in as well.

Three "eating events" left - tea tomorrow, a dinner at my cousin's on Fri., and then New Year's Eve. Since I no longer drink alcohol (and there has been plenty of it around the last week but I've resisted) New Year's is no big deal at our house. DH stays up until midnight but I will be going to bed at 9:30 as always. I will make a nice dinner but no big dessert and no alcohol for me.

One less event now - everyone at my cousin's house is sick. I'm going to make something really simple and light for dinner tonite - probably an omelette and salad. I can truly say I'm tired of eating sweet /rich food. I'm looking forward to going back to our regular diet, starting tonite.

Hiya Dagmar! Hiya Alice! The festivities of the 25th are behind us. I had a good time, it was too much rich food, like you said, Dagmar, and I've been enjoying returning to more sane eating.

As far a peace and calm goes, I've had another flare of excitability and obsession, now around an upcoming trip to Disney World. I am kind of a compulsive vacation planner, and it's definitely in full gear now. It's both fun and uncomfortable. I'm keeping tabs on it, to some extent.

Today, I have a plan to drive to Salem (1 hr) to visit a friend that moved there. We planned to eat cake at a very nice bakery up there. I plan to have a small, protein-rich breakfast, then cake for lunch. I have a healthy dinner planned at home, marinara with veggie noodles.

I only attended one holiday party and no plans for New Year. I'm feeling pretty good about my eating this past week.
Georgette, hope you enjoyed the cake! It's good to plan for treats.
I'm eating a giant salad tonight with hot tomato dressing. Avocado too.

Happy weekend, everyone.

Funny, when I got to the bakery, I didn't feel like cake. I had a little soup. My "hormonal problem" has flared again (blaming it on perimenopause), and my appetite is decreased. So weird, this is a very new phenomenon for me.

I had a voracious appetite during most of perimenopause. That's where I gained the 22 lbs. that I came on the 3FC to lose. I did lose the weight.

! I only gained 1 lb. over the holidays. I've done my yoga for this morning and the dog and I are heading out for our annual New Year's Day sunrise walk. Taking the camera and hoping to capture a spectacular sunrise over the lake.
