New Here and Thanks for all the tips!

Hi, I'm JoAnn and I am in week two with IP. I have been reviewing all the threads and there is so much great information. Thanks to all that have posted along the way. Great recipe ideas and lots of encouragement.
Week one I lost 7.8 #. I am struggling drinking all the required water and have some cravings. I'm not hungry, just not feeling satisfied, I guess. But, I'm committed and realize the first few weeks of any change are the most challenging. My hubby is doing this along with me. He has 30 #s to lose; me, lots more, but I'm on my way.

I joined IP on my youngest daughter's birthday,Jan 4th 2012. I am down 10lbs and am so happy and have great energy. I am an RN and work way too much. Nursing shortage is everywhere. I want to loose 30 lbs and maybe even a bit more. Leaving for a vacation in Mexico in 3 weeks and this gives me incentive to stick to the programn. When I see something I like,I just say,How bad to I want that to cause me to go off programn. So far I haven't and I'm very impressed with that. I had gained 20 lbs 25 years ago and they have to GO.....I know we all can DO IT.........Cheers.........My name is Joann,or sometimes,JoJo

Welcome, sounds like you have a reward in the future. Welcome and good luck on your journey :)

Welcome to the IP family, water is one of the most important things so make sure you get that in. Try using some herbal teas, they count for some of your water intake :) Having your hubby do it along with you will be very helpful and y'all can support each other....Good luck!

I just found this thread three weeks into program, so want to introduce myself. I am 56 years old, live in San Diego, am married to a man who has never overeaten in his life (!), have 4 grown, married children and 4 grandchildren. I have had food/body issues my whole life, but was very thin until I hit 40. I, like most everyone else here, have been dieting or thinking about dieting most of my life. I know when I am in ketosis I feel "normal" about food.
I learned about IP from 2 women who were both extremely successful with the plan and was inspired by them.
I am doing this with 3 other women, but realize, ultimately this is about my body and health.
This forum has been sooooo helpful, afraid I am becoming obsessed!
Thanks again for sharing all your stories, honesty, warmth and encouragement!

Hi Everyone,

Well this is all exciting!

My Name is Steve, and currently weighing in at 229.7

I love these forums since finding it 4 days back, these are going to be a god send while going through the first few weeks,

Starting IP this coming Thursday, found this forums last week when I was researching this diet, a colleague at work put me onto Ideal protein, and made my first appointment with my nutritionist last week, we went through the diet, and she told me to give it a week, and think about it, after find this forum, I am actually more excited on starting it!!!!

So I was a big boy most of my teenagerhood, however back in 2003 at 105.5kgs(sorry for all those imperial people) and managed to get my weight in check to 70.5kgs, looked and felt amazing, the kicker is I was single, and I always said to myself if I get into a relationship I would never return back.......
......Well guess what, In a Long term relationship its kinda returned, however the BOTTOM line is its all my fault, by not keeping up my exercise and drinking more alcohol than I once did.

Today I went to the Nutritionist and weighed in at 229.7lbs (I was wear heavy cords) 227.5 at home, so time to get real and drop the pounds

A colleague I work with done it, and while shes not a big girl, I noticed it at about her 5 week she had dropped weight, I was amazed with the results, and not to mention lurking on this forum the past few days and reading all the success stories has made me really excited!!!!

I plan on being a regular poster to keep me motivated and stay on track, I plan to do Phase 1 100% with no cheating.....

Starting on Thursday, and with the results everyone else is getting, I don't think luck is needed, just discipline

Cheers All!, S...

Welcome a board Steve, we like seeing guys join us here!!!....sounds like you have a plan that will work for you. A piece of advice is to cut out some of your carbs and sugars now so that your detox the first couple of days on IP won't be so bad for you!....welcome to the IP family:hug:

Hi everyone. I've been on the forum a couple of weeks, so I guess it is time to introduce myself. I'm Kristen, and I started IP on 1/14 after having read about it on Backyard Chickens, doing some research, and lurking on this forum for a little while. I'm 45 and was on my first diet at age 8, and have had weight issues on and off since then (mostly on). This is the first time I've done a diet involving any prepackaged foods, but I decided SOMETHING HAD TO GIVE, and I feel that I'm in a good place mentally to do this now. I live just west of Atlanta, GA, and am the butler to cats, dogs, and chickens. Love all the supportive people here - know that when I face an obstacle (real or imagined) I'll get the support I need to stay on track and reach my goal of losing 100lbs this year.

Welcome Chuckles, you will get to your 100lbs before you know it. Take it one day at a time, one meal and of course one pound at a time. Don't get upset when you have those weeks where the scale doesn't move, that is just the week your body needs to catch up with your losses. You will face lots of obstacles but you are strong person and can get over anything that is thrown at you....always be PREPARED for the unexpected :) Welcome to the IP Family:hug:

My name is Nicki and I'm only 30 years old but I've been on many diets and have been "dieting" and self aware of my weight since I was 7 years old. Sounds crazy but believe me, it's true! In October of 2008 I reached an all time high of 263lbs and I was a size 18. I am 5'8 and have an athletic build so I have always been able to "carry it well" but I've never been happy in my own skin and certainly wasn't happy at 263lbs. In November 2008 I started taking Phentermine and exercising religiously. By January 2010, I was down to 168lbs and in a size 6womens/8juniors. I was only 8lbs away from my goal (160lbs) when between August 2010-January 2011, I crept back up to 194lbs. This time last year, I went on the Dukan Diet and lost 17lbs which put me down to 177lbs. After never finishing Dukan properly, I held fast at 177lbs but have ended up where I am today, January 29th 2012, at 185lbs. I know that if I would have continued on Dukan, I would have lost the weight. I know that my body responds well to low carb/low fat diets, however, the idea of all of that animal protein and fat free dairy totally makes my stomach turn thinking about it. That's why I am so grateful and RELIEVED to have found Ideal Protein Diet. Even though today was my first day, I KNOW that this plan will work for me and I am so excited to finally complete my weight loss journey that began in November 2008. Thank you for listening and good luck to you all. I'm excited to get going and to be able to participate more so on this forum!

Hi everyone - I've been lurking around since early January. I'm turning 42 on Thursday and have been carrying around an extra 30lbs for the past 5 years following a year of cancer treatment (I'm officially cured as of last week!) I've always carried a little extra weight and did Weight Watchers in 2002 and took off 42lbs. I kept it off no problem until the big C. After treatment the pounds started creeping on. Partially because my body was out of whack and partially because, well, I was alive and was going to eat cake damn it! (and anything else that sounded good!)

Around Thanksgiving I ran in to an old friend and she looked amazing. Of course I asked what she had done and she said IP and it was the greatest thing ever. SO I looked in to it and decided after 2011 I was done with this body and would do whatever I had to do to undo the damage. I thought starting Jan. 1 I would make a change. Turns out that enough holiday alcohol, sugar and fat made me feel so crappy that Dec 26 I declared I was done and cut out all the crap that Monday morning, thinking I'd go down to the center that day and sign up, but they were closed for holiday week! So I cut out all the crap and got focused. I have been unwavering in my mission since that day and am down, according to my scale, 13lbs today, yay! Tomorrow is my 4th Weigh-in.

I'm a Realtor in the Bay Area, so I work a lot of hours, 7 days a week and run around a lot. I have an awesome Maltese/Yorkie/Poodle (Morkie-poo) named Lucy, actually Princess Lucy Fuzzypants, Duchess of The Blanket Pile. (My avatar)

I've never felt so good or had so much energy. I'm thankful for finding IP, although I wish I was more in the average range of weight loss instead of the low range. But I'm going to stick it out because it's working, just insert some alternatives in so I can lower my cost a bit since I had hoped it would be a 2 to 2.5 month process, but it's looking like a 3.5 month process at the rate I'm losing. Still great, just a big expenditure.

Thank you all for all the things I've learned. This is a wonderfully supportive community.

Welcome, Lucy's beautiful, and I can't tell you how glad I am you are cured. It sure sounds as though you have your head screwed on. As for being in the middle range, I think your loses are in about the middle range for someone of your weight. You might look at what patns posted in the Second Time Around # 19. Then go to the Valentine's Day challenge and see what real people are really losing. It might help and I'm so glad you've been reading a lot. It sure helps.

Hey, Nicki, Welcome and it sounds as though you've really got your head wrapped around the program. I can't wait till you get to goal.

Hello! My name is Ashleigh, I am from British Columbia, Canada. I am 21 years old and weigh 225. I started IP last week and have my first weigh in tomorrow, very exciting! I have struggled with my weight my whole life and I finally had a wake up call, sadly, after a death in the family. Diabetes runs in my family and I was well on my way to becoming a diabetic. So here I am, after my aunt, uncle, mom, and many family friends have had success on this program. I am so ready to create a change in my life and feel good in my skin. I want to get down to 150 because that is a good weight for my height. I have tried many different diets in the past (nutrasystem, LA weight loss, Weight Watchers) but I was always doing it for the 'vain' reasons. I wanted to be beautiful, I didn't care for my health back then. Now I am a bit older, living on my own, going to University - making something of myself - and I want to lose weight to be healthy and happy! I want to learn how to surf, climb a mountain, bike up a hill without being winded. I live for travel and experiencing different cultures, and when my weight started getting in the way of that I really started to realize what I was missing out on. So here I am, taking control of my life! Before you know it I will be in Tofino surfing, in Banff, AB climbing a mountain, and riding a bike up the hill to campus. =)

I'm ready to begin!

Good morning! I just wanted to introduce myself since I am beginning IP back today. I used to go to the clinic to receive it but it was too far of a drive and a lot of money but I love the results so I am going to do the alternative and will use some IP products that I still have. Just wanted to say hello I know this is going to be a several month maybe year long process and this forum will help me along the way. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. :)
I look forward to getting to know everyone and sharing our weightloss!

KellBell135 01-30-2012 08:53 AM

Oh and one more thing

One thing that I forgot and not looking forward to. The first 2-3 days on IP when I did it I had the worst headache and was exhausted. I tried the seasalt and nothing seemed to help. Any ideas?
