WELCOME to the IP FAMILY!....YOU can and WILL do this....I have done it successfully along with MANY others here. We are here for each other, we give tons of support, share recipes and there is also a ton of information here. Your first week will be hard but it is SOOOOO worth is when you have your first WI. If you start to get a headache your first week, keep your sea salt handy, put some in the palm of your hand (1/4tsp) lick it straight off your palm and then drink water should feel better in about 15 mins. Your BP and electrolytes are low since your body is detoxing.

If any of you Newbies are on Facebook, I have a group there called Southern 3fc, ANYONE can join, we talk there on the messanger throughout the day and keep each other going. There are a few of us that work at home so we keep each other going there.

I am Jen. I am 40, 4'11" so every extra pound is like 5 on my short frame. I have always been active, but have struggled with my weight my whole life. About 5 years ago, I started running like Forest Gump, and was able to get down to about 120 pounds....I loved being there!!! I kept the weight off for a long while, but in April 2010, my then 10 year old son was diagnosed with brain cancer, and between stress, hospitalizations, and living out of a rented apartment with a minimal kitchen for months while he got treatment in another state, I packed on 30 pounds!!!(I have to say, we ate at some DELICIOUS restaurants though as often as he was up to it....)

He is now in remission, and has been for a year, so I am going at it full speed to get back to a healthier (and happier) weight. Not to mention, so much research I have done links sugar and cancer, so I wanted to do whatever I can to help keep cancer away!!!
I joined IP on February 15th (figured I would get a last supper on Valentine's Day) and so far it is going slow, but sure. I have only lost 14 pounds. I know it is in the right direction, but I would love to be one of the ones losing 4 + pounds per week, so often I am discouraged. I have taken the time to choose the packets with the least amounts of carbs, and I exercise at least once, but mostly twice a day.

I have used these threads a lot to give me ideas on recipes and to stay motivated. I get sick of the same old veggies...but I guess I need to retrain my brain to think of food as fuel.

Thanks for inspiring me along the way!!

Hi, my name is Lynn. I turned 49 in January and I don't want to be 50 like this.

I haven't started on IP yet, I have my meeting on Tuesday, so I'll start on Wednesday. I've been reading the forums, and am encouraged.

I had my husband take my before photo today, and plan on taking them every month.

I'll post more along the way...:)

Thank you for the advice. I ate 2 dill pickles yesterday which would have normally made my feet and legs swell. No problem 24 hours later. I needed the salt. Definitely low energy today. But resisted some Huge temptations all weekend with no cheating. My wife was baking cookies and cakes all weekend. I had to leave for a while the whole darn house smelled like a bakery.

I can not imagine how tough dealing with a child with cancer was for you. I have Hairy Cell Leukemia. It is in remission again but the first time around in 2004 I gained sixty pounds very quickly following my diagnosis. I just ate whatever and when every I wanted it was my escape.

In 2010 after 6 years of remission I gained again but more from lack of activity along with over eating. CANCER SUCKS! I wish you and your Son the best. I know a big part of my desire to lose weight is to live longer and spend more time with my family. Especially my wife and children.

Welcome to the IP family and most of all I am glad you son is in remission. I wouldn't worry about the carb and calorie counts in the packets, all of them work together that is why there is such a variety. We don't have to COUNT anything on this program that is why I love it so much. You have 20lbs left to lose and those will probably be the hardest 20lbs to get off. Stick to your task at hand, you can and WILL DO IT!!...you will not see that 4lb loss with having that much left to lose. Just don't give up!!! keep variety in your day and experiment with your packets!! keep it fun!

Welcome to the IP family as well!!!....OH...will give your DH a hug and say THANK YOU for me, for taking that picture of you!!...that will be your motivation picture!! I would ween myself off of carbs and sugars starting today so that your detox won't be so bad the first 3-4 days. You will be a healthy 50 next year!!!

Hello All!
I started my journey with IP on February 27, 2012 weighing in at 246lbs (6'0 tall) with a goal of losing 71lbs. I am a full time Mommy to 4 little girls (9y,4y,2y & 10mos.) and a part time student. January 2012 made 5yrs of either nursing or pregnant. Although I have been blessed with 4 children, I have decided to "close up shop," with that said I am ready to get all of this "baby weight" off. Wouldn't change it for the world, the sacrifice has been well worth it but I have no recollection of what normal feels like.....LOL!
I have done really well these first few weeks which has been so inspiring and more then enough to keep me going. The small things I have to remember which has been really hard for me is when making the girls food not to have a taste to see if its to "hot" or drinking the first sip out of a juice box so when I hand it to them it doesn't drip out etc. But I quickly remember and have stayed totally OP. Good Luck to all of you and I am thankful to have found this group!!!

WOW!!!...nothing like making it a family affair that is great!!! Myself, my mom and my brother all did it at the same time. Although they live in a different state we still did it together. Both of them have made their goals, I am still working toward mine. They have been my main support system so I know what to look forward too once I am at goal cuz they have experimented with everything..haha...Welcome to the IP family and Good luck to all of you!

Once you remember those things you will be in good shape. I am sure that is hard for you not to make sure something is too hot for your smallest ones. You will get used of it and it will get easier. Welcome to the IP family where you will get tons of support, suggestions, information and recipes!!!

Hello!

I'm Rhiannon, from the Pacific Northwest. I've got about 65# to lose, for my first goal. I started IP on 3/17/12. I've had 2 WIs so far and I'm down 11.6 pounds and 6.75"!

I show dogs on the weekends and I saw a fellow competitor whittle away into a svelte little number over about 6 months or so and I HAD to know what she did! She didn't even have any looseness and in fact, looked trim and happy. I ASSumed it was exercise due to that... When she first told me about the program and sent me the medical intake (she's a coach now!), and I saw the start-up price, I told her I couldn't do it - too much $. I kept watching her continue to go down and I was really resentful...so I decided when I got my income tax return that was the FIRST thing I was doing with it. I got my return on 3/15/12 and made my appointment to go in on 3/16/12. I started the program the next day.

My SO is usually supportive of my endeavors, but he did tell me he was doubtful I could stay on the program due to my love affair with carbs and the fact that our 3-year old is a walking eating machine LOL. I was stunned and started to feel like maybe I couldn't do it :( I decided that I needed help from friends, so I started a FB group for myself and a few friends that were trying to slim down. Day after day I read about how nobody was doing what they said they would and I started feeling cruddy again. I persevered and was blown away at my first WI that I was down 8.4#! Lets try 1 more week and see...Second WI was only (LOL) 3.2#, but I had lost 6.75"!!! Hello! That is a big motivation to keep going.

In the last few weeks I've learned that I have a problem with food. I thought I was "healthy" and I wasn't. I was eating 100 little things all day long that never even registered going down my throat. Closing the peanut butter jar I would take my finger and clean it up...cleaning up my kids plate I would just finish the food...and so much more. I have issues with food and this diet is helping me face them.

I don't cheat except for a few times, I have gotten veggie blends and mixes that did have onions in them. I choose to hope that the lesser of that evil is that I don't commit bigger sins. I do believe this is my last diet.

I'm so glad I found this sub-forum! I registered for this site last year, but wasn't doing anything specific and I think that was my downfall. Now I have a plan and a goal and here we go!!
