Greetings

Hello fellow IPers. I'm on day two, and have been 100% op, but I honestly feel horrible right now. I was not able to finish my 2 cups of veggies and 5 oz chicken for dinner, I'm having trouble just sipping water and I have a tremendously pounding headache. Anyone been through this??
I was told that day 3 or 4 might be bad, but I'm a hurtin unit right now.

Hello all, I have been stalker status on and off this site for years but I am serious about getting myself on track and need some support and accountability. I am 33 years old, a mother of 2 and I need to get myself back on track. I maintained a solid, healthy weight for over 15 years and even bounced right back after my child was born but then I actually lost a ton of weight in a very unhealthy manner and made myself sick to where I was 5'10" and 105 pounds. I knew it was time for a change and I got help. Now 3 years later, I am out of control going the other direction! So... here I am in need of some structure but in a healthy and controlled way. I want to meet in the middle! Not crazy thin but lean and strong. I am so inspired by all of your successes and I hope you all don't mind if I join you on this journey. I am so thankful for all the information you have shared. I am starting IP tomorrow. I tried to start last week but failed so this is it, I am going to put that behind me and look ahead. I am better prepared and I now have the support of DH so I think I am set. Nice to meet all of you!

You're definitely not alone. The first few days are rough, no doubt about it.

Try the salt trick: pour a small mound (I guess around 1/8-1/4 tsp) into your hand and lick it off, chasing it with a few good gulps of water. After 20 mins or so you should feel a big improvement. If not, there's no harm in taking a tylenol or advil.

Definitely get all your water in! It can be tough but dehydration is a miserable feeling and your body needs all the water to stay humming while you get to and are in ketosis.

The pain won't last long, honest. In a couple days the misery will be over, you'll see. It's a great feeling!

Also, welcome! :)

Nice to meet you too! I tend to be more of a lurker than poster around here, but the level of support and knowledge on these boards is just invaluable. Check out the daily chat thread for lots of real-time info and experiences.

Also, wow, good on you for the step you've taken. I think most (if not all) of us are here because we want to make a thorough overhaul of our day-to-day relationship with food and weight. IP is really great for that -- I personally love how it does the thinking work for you: follow the program, lose the "hidden hunger" and cravings, get the results. In the meantime it lets me focus on more important things, like noticing when or why I reflexively turn to food, and teaching me how to make vegetables a significant part of my daily menu.

Tomorrow's the day! That's exciting!! Keep us posted, and don't forget to come here for co-celebration when you reach each weight & lifestyle goal! -- and when you need encouragement from people who know exactly what the rough patches are like :)

Also, don't let slip-ups get in your way. I love the quote someone on here posted: If you trip on a step, do you throw yourself down the whole flight? It takes guts to just get up and carry on after a mistake but it's just one more way to reinforce to yourself that you're worth taking awesome care of.

About 11 years ago, I lost 35 pounds on Atkins. I kept it off for 10 years, but gained much of it back quite suddenly a year ago when I started on Lexapro (an antidepressant). I put the weight on so fast that even my husband was alarmed. I went off the drug about 6 months ago, but haven't been successful in getting all the weight back off. After seeing a girlfriend's awesome success with IP, I was sold.

During my first week on IP, I was about to quit, but then I found this great and supportive forum and now I'm committed to reaching my goal. Thanks to all who post here and offer such amazing support and encouragement (like the seemingly indefatigueable Wuv)!

LOL....you made me laugh out loud....thanks!

like the other poster said put 1/4tsp of the sea salt in the palm of your hand, lick it then drink water it will go away in 15-20 mins. Try to eat the 8oz of meat or as close to it as possible

Hello Everyone! I am currently on day 4 of the Ideal Protein Diet. I am 24 years old and I am trying to lose baby weight plus some. When I started Ideal Protein I weighed 162 and unofficially when I weighed my self this morning at home I weighed 156! My goal is to weigh 120 lbs when I finish. I have PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) and I am taking metformin to control the symptoms. I am hoping that by the time I reach my goal weight that I can be off the metformin. Losing weight and being at a healthy weight really helps treat the PCOS so I have high hopes that I can quit the medication. Unfortuantly one of the side effects of PCOS is being overweight and it being very difficult to lose weight :( ALot of research shows that a high protein diet is ideal for PCOSer's so I am hoping that I have finally found a diet that will work for me :)
I am finally starting to feel like I am not starving any more but still have a major lack of energy. I think some of that is attributed to the fact my six month old has suddenly started waking at night again and I quit drinking caffeine cold turkey when I started IP 4 days ago. I am so excited cause my husband is doing IP with me so I have some major support at home! We both need to lose quite a bit of weight to be healthy to to love the way we look! I am so excited that I am already seeing some results and can't wait for my first official weigh in tomorrow.

Welcome to the boards and to the IP family!....there are several posters whom have PCOS as well and seem to be doing excellent with the program. Having your DH do the program with you is going to be an awesome thing, together y'all can accomplish things you never would of though possible. If you are seeing results already just wait until you are a few months into the program you will be amazed!.....suggestion for you, take a pic of y'all as a couple NOW then in a month take another one and do it monthly so that y'all can see the changes happening. Also take individual pics of each other so that you can see your changes individually as well....good luck!

Hi all!
My name is Natalie, and I am on day 15 of IP. So far, I have lost 15 pounds. :) The worst daya for me were days 8-10 -- wow did I have a headache! But, now I feel fabulous.

One question I have is about breastfeeding...is anyone here nursing as they do this program? I am and I am wondering if it could be causing me to feel extra hungry. My coach is sweet but not too knowledgeable, so she didn't have much to offer on the subject.

This forum is very inspiring! Thanks to everyone for sharing!

New to IP

My name is Erica, I'm 23 years old (24 next week, yay!).

I have always been a little chubby and my father was hypercritical so I have some major weight issues. I know have a great boyfriend who I've been with for almost three years, who is very supportive and doesn't seem to care what I weight. We also have a nine month old baby.

I weighted 200 pounds before I got pregnant, and 235 by the end of the pregnancy. I managed to get down to 210 using MyFitnessPal calorie counter but I plateaued after a few months and lost motivation.

I started IP last week, I'm on day 8, and have already lost 5.5 lbs. So far I've been a little tired and a little hungry, but I really want to lose the weight so I'll stick to it.

I just found this forum today, I hope to find and give support here.

Erica

Welcome, Honestly I don't think you should be breast feeding while on IP. You are not getting the correct amount of nutrients for you nor the baby. We take supplements but I don't think they would be healthy for the baby (IMO) Please consult a Dr about this, others may be able to shed some light on it. You are only eating around 800-900 cals a day so please be careful, you may need to add a packet or more protein to your day. I am in no way discouraging you from IP, please don't take it that way, just concerned for both you and the baby. This is a great program that is for sure!

Hi! I've been doing IP since January 17th. I've lost 36 lbs, and I have 39 to go! Almost half way there!!! I'm mom to 4 kids, ages 14, 12, 11, and 3, so I'm busy. This is the first "diet" that I've been able to stick to, um, EVER. And it doesn't even bother me making my family foods I don't eat. IP kills my cravings, and I love my Vanilla drink (or cappucino) and coffee in the morning, and my chocolate drink ice cold before bed. Anyway, I've mostly lurked here, but have really loved the recipes and ideas that I've found here! Thanks!
Trish

Well, my baby is 2 years old, so I thought maybe it would be okay to do IP since he is not really nursing for his meals so to speak. It's more of a comfort/go to sleep/snack thing. I am ready to wean him...I just keep hoping he'll do it on his own! I realllllly don't want to stop IP. I'm getting so much energy--my kids are getting their mom back!

Hi, I'm Bonnie. My recent physical indicated that I need to make some lifestyle changes. My chiro recommended IP. I went to the intro meeting yesterday and signed up. I spent the afternoon chopping and steaming veggies. Being prepared always works best for me. I have about 50 lbs to release. I don't want to loose them, because they'll want to be found! I'm getting married in September.

Well that is good to know, If he is 2 then he has other means of getting all of the nutrients he needs in. I do not judge anyone, so don't think that please. Like I said was just concerned. If you feel good about being on the program then don't quit keep going. If the kids are getting their mom back then for sure don't stop. Maybe with you being on the program it would be a good time to wein him off but again that is your call. I think there is a thread around here somewhere about breastfeeding while on IP, I'll try to dig it up for you and see what I can fine.

Congrats on making one of the best decisions in your life to start IP. Welcome as well. This program will help you get to your goal BEFORE your wedding and you will feel great. Commit to it 100% and don't let anything get in your way. IT CAN BE DONE!....Remember don't compare yourself to anyone else on the board, your body is YOUR body and it will lose as it wants too. Stick with it even though you have slow weeks, which you will have, but it all works out....TRUST me!!
