Taylor, you are so funny. You do have a great point on the name and as I don't want hosed, I guess we could all take turns.

I have been missing Jordanna...where are you Jordanna??

I haven't seen Blue Mermaid on here for ages either.

lcw32...it sounds like you've found a great clinic for getting started. I can't wait to hear how it goes for you as well as for you tripmommy.

I've decided my cheer leader in row two is awfully lonely. She really needs a squad member in her row. If I could just get rid of four itty bitty ounces she would not be all alone.

cSince the Consumer Reports review of whey proteins and potential for cadmium (et al) toxicity, I called Abbott Labs (EAS whey drinks) to talk it over with them. Their advice, even with their own products, is just to have 3 whey drinks per day and no more. I would tend to agree with that, since we are eating dark leafy greens, and I love shellfish, which are natural sources. So at least they answered my concerns, however IP has not responded to my request for their data and assurance. Interesting.

I talked to the area director today about this and he said when this came to the news, IP had their products tested and found none of the toxins. Hope that helps.

Thanks Roz, Erin and Taylor!

Erin - yes I'm getting close but sadly that's only my first goal. When I started, I decided to break my goal up into two 50-lb increments so I wouldn't get discouraged.

Congratulations HopefulTricia on 50 lbs gone! I hope to be at that milestone in a few weeks so I can get highlights in my hair.

My first official WI after 2 weeks and down 12 lbs!!!!! yippeeeee!!!

the inches that she said I was down was pretty impressive too but I didn't write them down. My only issue was that I was down 9 lbs of muscle, so now I get to eat MORE protein. Thankfully, my coach didn't make it more packets, more real food, thank goodness.

I am so excited. I joined a group of guys at work that started their own little weight loss challenge, I like the competition. I'm going to enjoy winning that challenge!!!!

Can't wait to start using my tracker and I've already got a loss to report... HMMM what icon should I use to log my 5lbs lost....???

PERFECT

Default Sticks?

I have a question about the sticks.... I have never gotten even a trace on the sticks? Can the bottle be no good? I am pretty sure I am in ketosis or I really need to get to a dentist cause my breath is nasty. Has anyone else tried but not gotten any color? Maybe I should suck on one.... just joking....
HopefulTricia Way to goo, 50 pounds gone for good, whoot whoot!
motiv8edmama I also havent seen MysticMama in awhile? Not too worry your little cheerleader is gonna have lots of company in no time, she is too cute to stay single for long
Welcome to all the new IPers.... this is a great forum for support, I know it is what helped me get to goal.

That sounds like a fabulous opportunity! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

WK 15 WI - Lost 2.2, so I'm 182.6 Not bad. I was hoping to hit 40 lbs lost mark, but fell short .75 lb! Oh well, I'm still happy. Next week should be a good week. I should make the 40 lb mark, and soon I will make the 1/2 way to goal mark (42.5 lbs). and also soon I will be in the 170s... SO things are moving in the right direction.

Kplus80 - That's a great WI (the weight / inches thingy is a mystery to me, but take it and be happy - I'd love a 4+ lb loss week!!!)

Tricia - WOW! I'm so happy for you! you really are an inspiration to me, as we started so close, and we're both 5'4"!!!

Motiv8ed, My WooHoo guy in row 2 is lonely too!!! Less then 1 lb and he could have a partner! This week WE WILL get our lonely little guys a partner, right? We will; we can.

20 lbs by Labor Day Challenge - Today is WI day... it's been one week. Good luck. Some have already posted and they're doing great.

Unofficial weight this am (yeah, I'm a scale hopper) is 169.8 - WOOHOO - I hit the 160's!!! Never thought I'd see those again. So what if it's only by a mere .2, I don't care. What a great way to start the day!

I lose about 10-15 lbs and then that is it I go right back to where I was. Any tips for beginners?
Follow the protocol. This diet works virtually 100% of the time if you follow the program religiously. If you do that, you will maximize your losses and see results so quickly that it will help to keep you motivated. Don't try to figure out ways to bend the rules or game the system; just suck it up and get the job done. It's a diet. It's fast, but it's not fun. But when you get to the end, you will be so proud of your accomplishment... it's a great high!

Use the boards for coaching and support. Read what's here, and ask questions if you can't find the answers. Follow the counsel of those who have the numbers to back up what they tell you... it should be easy for you to figure out what is good advice and what is not.

This diet is different from the others we've all tried, and I've only truly realized how, now that I'm in maintenance. By sticking with the protocol during all phases, I have changed my metabolism. I do not gain the way I used to. I do not crave the way I used to. I can easily drop a couple pounds if I need to. It doesn't take three days to get into ketosis--it happens overnight.

But it takes time for that transformation to occur, so you need to stay the course and allow the changes to take place. If you adapt the program to allow yourself foods and beverages that are not permitted on the plan, you may lose weight, but you will interfere with the process going on behind the scenes to convert your body into an efficient, "fat-burning machine."

If you slip, get up, dust yourself off, and get back on plan. It happens, so don't beat yourself up. But if you knowingly choose to go out and drink margaritas every weekend, or eat mashed potatoes with dinner every Sunday, or pound a couple of diet sodas every afternoon, you are not on the IP program. You are on a diet, and will probably still lose weight--perhaps a lot of weight--but you are not following the protocol that promises to alter the way your body processes food. And that is the ultimate prize. That's what truly makes this diet different.

I was very wary when I started this program, but now I'm a total convert. I was stunned by my own results, and I'm still amazed by the changes I'm experiencing. You can absolutely do this... and you'll be so glad you did.

You crack me up

Hey, my sister had a similar experience... I was almost always in the moderate range, and she spent most of the diet at trace. But you've both obviously been in ketosis, since you're both in Phase 2 and nearly at your targets!

Congratulations Stacey I am right behind you excited about the 6sss so lucky you! Great job!
Thanks to Kelsey--WannabeIP and Nitenic for your comments. Nothing's better than girlfriends!! There are few that know anything about my diet and therefore can't offer much support. It is PRICELESS to have it here!!
BTW, yesterday was a good good day. 50 lbs lost AND to dentist after procrastinating for more than a year, no cavities and clean teeth. So, whatever it is you're putting off-just do it!

Novak,
Thanks so much! I feel confident in the diet that THIS is it, but I feel the support from people who have actually gone through it or going through it will be the KEY!!! I just need to get myself through the first function and then I will just know that I CAN DO IT!!! Congrats to you for all your success!!!

AWESOME !! Thanks for the great reminder ! I'm just finishing week 6 and I am planning on rereading Dr. T's book this weekend and re-reading all my protocol info again as a reminder too. Your success is proof that what you said works ! Cheers !

To all - Have a happy and safe weekend !

Hi all!!

So many successes and awesome weigh-ins , that its hard to keep track! Congrats all!!

I'm on week 7 and stalled i think. I've averaged only about 2.6 per week this last 6 weeks, so this is frustrating! I'd be happy if i just lost more inches even if the weight loss was slow, but it looks like they go hand in hand for me!

I'm thinking of doing only the shakes, no restricted items, no chocolate drink mix and cappuccino drink which have more carbs..making sure i eat 2 cups of veggies with lunch and dinner instead of saving them all for the evening and dinner...lets see! Did anyone else experience a plateau between 6-8 weeks? Did you do anything specific to pull yourself out of the rut or does one just have to wait it out patiently?

Also, does anyone drink lemon juice, or anything like that to vary the water intake a bit? If yes, do you use fresh or concentrate and how much can you have per day?

AugustBride - i feel your pain! I wish i had known about and started IP months earlier. I have a wedding in Sept, and ill need to be totally off the program by then...which worries me as phase 2, 3 and 4 need to be completed by then. Senior members, how long do i need to allocate to these 3 phases so that i dont put on weight while i am away for 3 weeks? i plan to get back on the plan when i return to get to my goal weight (which would be 10-15 lbs less than what i will be at the end of august)

thanks all!

Thanks everyone for your support. Looking forward to next week being a bettter week. Stayed exactly the same 185. TOM has been really bad this month I guess from all the stress I have been under. Congratulations to all of you on your amazing losses this week.
