melissa and xanthia
sounds like your coaches are big ol' pricks. i think you will both do much better without the stress of having to deal with people like that on a weekly basis. coaches are supposed to be a support for you, not a source of additional stress

I've always ate the majority of my calories in those hours, so this is really really hard. I almost want to throw in my nightly shake then because it tends to fill in the gap, and I hate eating before bed. It gives me weird dreams and unrestful nights. Blah. My husband even commented he doesn't like to talk to me during those hours because I'm angry and frustrated. That's sad
Thanks for the congrats!!

Anytime you can figure out what the problem is, that is the first step to solving the problem. It sounds to me like you know what you need to do, you just have to make up your mind and do it. You have to do what works for YOU! We had jerk coaches, but now we have this board and our 3FC friends, so just the stress level change will improve our program. I'm sure of it.

Me: Day 1 is done. I was concerned about eating packaged food and was surprised that I found the taste of the foods reasonable (some enjoyable) and that I wasn't terribly hungry. I was able to manage on just 3-4 packs of food.

Why a non-integer # of packets, you ask? I had a disastrous experiment with the cappucino, using the hot water tap of a coffee machine. How does capp-flavored water with cooked protein bit floaters sound? mmm, yummy. I couldn't finish it and there was a hunk of unmixed powder at the bottom of the cup. More yummy goodness. New rule: follow the instructions!

Based on everyone's experience and wisdom on this pgm, I've decided to keep something in mind when tempted by an off-program food. You've said that it can take 3-4 days to get back into ketosis; I'd use 9 - 16 packets in that time. That's $36 - $64, and with 13% taxes where I live, that's $40.68 to $72.32. I'll be asking myself, "Is that [food item] worth between $40 and $72? Really? I mean, REALLY?" I'm tight-fisted about a lot of things (e.g. don't have cable or even a TV, drive a 99-model year car), so this could work for me.
sounds like you're going to be an Ideal IPer. Good for you! (99% of the packets must be made using COLD water). You too, are awesome!

Erin, thanks for the BOLD congrats - that was great, LOL. and yes, some coaches are so convinced that IP is perfect and that every single female on the program must lose 3-5 lbs per week. If they don't, well then they must be doing something wrong. I refuse to pay someone to make me feel bad about something that otherwise makes me feel great. I love IP!

I had a rough night last night
Yesterday around noon, my chest starting hurting right between my rib cage. It didn't hurt too bad at first, but as the day went on it got worse. It even made my whole body ache. I was having muscle spasms and couldn't even sit up it hurt so bad by 9:00. I sent my ex, who I still live with, to Wal*Mart to get some miralax, because I thought it might be the big C backing me wayyyy up. I fell asleep when he was gone and when he woke me up when he got home it was even worse. I took the miralax and managed to fall back asleep. I woke up again at 5:00 a.m. and it was even worse. I couldn't even get out of bed. I took two darvocets and they knocked me back out, and when I woke up I was feeling a little better but I'm starting to have muscle spasms again Anyone ever experience something like this??

Yes, you heard it here; she stepped on the scale and read 181.6, stepped off the scale, wiped her sleepy eyes, and stepped back on the scale where the little digital numbers once again stopped at 181.6. Never has she been more elated since starting IP then now. So hugs and kisses from Florida! I love you all. I call you my friends, and I mean it.
Melissa-- I couldn't be any happier for you. I love IP too and I love your success as much as I love my own- truly! No, this diet really isn't easy but compared to the others, it is just perfect. Suits us to a tee. Aren't we lucky??? I hope we will be celebrating many more times together over the coming weeks. Plenty of goals accomplished and new breakthroughs ahead. Next you need a 7 and I need a 6.
Sound good to you???(all our IP friends)

Got back from 2 weeks of vacation a week ago. I took my IP stuff but did not do well...because I DID NOT USE IT except bars, I was happy to have my bars. Things I wished I'd taken 1) Ketosis strips and 2) My scale (it snaps me back into reality)! Gained 9lbs Now for the very good news went back on Phase 1 and I have already lost 6lbs. Gotta love this diet!!!

Amen. Also, if there is no help but "you must be messing up, not writing things down properly" and a lack of positive reinforcement or follow up to problems, it isn't worth it. Every BODY is different. Let's embrace ourselves and what we are doing to better our health, not get upset or berated when we don't lose the magic number every single time, or even ever.

While I know we all want to look our best, I'm pretty darn sure we all want to feel our best too, and some times we lose sight of that. Even if we aren't seeing NSV's or weight change we are doing something positive by fueling our bodies with veggies, water, proteins and so much more that it needs to keep us healthy. Even that is a success day to day and meal to meal.

I actually stuck with my original goal.

Taylor, sounds like you need to go to the emergency room. Have you ever heard of a heart attack? Seriously, get yourself to the hospital, or at least an urgent care facility.

Xanthia I agree with you 1000%!!! The scale is not the only measure of our success. A few weeks ago that was completely proven to me. Scale hadn't changed much so I was lamenting the dreaded plateau BUT when I went on the fancy scale at the doc's, I had lost 10 lbs of fat and gained almost as much in muscle. I love IP because we have success with weight loss AND it's changing our bodies and helping them function better too. I say thank you and amen!

TaylorMayde I have been sick a couple of random days since I started IP.
But nothing like you are describing. I think you should get yourself to a doc ASAP.
Especially if you are getting worse... Take care. I hope it's nothing serious.

Hi all, i have been on IP for 3 weeks and love it. Your stories are so inspiring to me i read the forum all the time!!! I have 15lbs to lose, but things are going very slow, i dont eat restricted foods, take my vitamins, and oil and drink at least 100 0z of water a day. I have only lost 6.8lbs and 21 inches in 3 weeks, do you think my weight loss is slow because i dont have much to lose? started at 140 and want to be about 125. My daughter is doing this with me and she has lost 18lbs and 24 inches so proud of her, any info would be awesome. I am so proud of u all for doing so well

TaylorMayde If you haven't already sought medical advice, GO NOW! I think that you're fairly young, AND you don't want to mess with a chest pain that doesn't go away overnight. I felt like a total loser when I went to a medical clinic once in my early 30s because I had had chest pains. "It's probably nothing, I really shouldn't be here, yadda yadda yadda." It was good to find out from someone who's studied and knows their $hit that nothing was wrong.

I so appreciate the support you all provide. I read the comments about folks who get close to goal and start to sabotage themselves by binging and/or worry about how they will keep the weight off once they reach goal or if the goal should be lower - and I think of my own unhealthy relationship with food - the losses in the past and the gain backs. I'm thrilled with my losses on IP and how I feel, but I find myself obsessing over the scale, fantasizing about "foods I'll eat when. . ." and wonder how I can change my mind as well as my body. At least the foods I'm thinking about aren't cookies and such, but nuts, fruit (raspberries are almost ripe - cherry's are in season) and popcorn. I guess the final word is that hearing other's concerns helps me think about my own SDB (self defeating behaviors) so I can start trying to heal my spirit/mind as well as my body. Today I'm dropping one more of my diabetes medications with doctor's approval. What a gift and it only took 5 weeks. So I know there is physical healing occurring. Again, thanks to all of you for your insights, encouragement and willingness to be vulnerable by sharing your thoughts, feelings, fears and experiences.
