Question Hey, where have I been?

Hi ladies!!!!

Man, I missed a few days of checking in and feel "out of the loop"!

Kanola, I'm so sorry to hear of the lady who passed away. Also of your sorrow (everyone's) with the bombings. It certainly would put anyone in a reflective, sad mood.

However, your new avatar rocks!!! Great pic of our motorgirl! How cool that we both have us on our cycles as our avatars!

Aphil, Happy Birthday!!! And CONGRATS on being into the "ones" and for the previously tight jeans that now fit!!
And I LIKE your dream of being a "belly-gram" girl...I bet you would be great at it; and with your flair and talent for costumes, you would have the greatest choice of costumes...yay!

oh yeah - wanted to tell you, aphil, that I have taken your advice about being able to work the abs each day - which I have been doing - and I tell you, it is some cool thing to feel how HARD they have become!!!! thanks for the advice!! I also know that it is so beneficial to prevent that ache in your back when you've been standing all day - I can truly say that even after standing at my job all day, I only get a slight backache when TOM is due. And even then it's not that bad...hooray for strong abs!

Nancy, you must have wanted to scream when the scale said you gained...you are doing everything you should be doing; just a weird quirk that a pound showed. You just keep on doing what you have, and the excess WILL come off!! Stay strong!!!

Hi little chick! Yes, we're flattered that you chose us to try! I hope so much that the support here will help you as it has me. Do check in as often as you need to - it sure helps when you're feeling in need of a helping hand - or hug.

Kina, I got shivers on my arms when I read of the tornado - how frightening. We can't say how thankful we are that your path didn't take you into danger. I'm so sorry to hear of the poor teacher who died. No one can explain random tragedy. I'm sure your family was so happy to have you home that night.

I know how hectic your life is; hope you are able to keep on track, knowing that you are helping yourself on the way to better health and fitness. A big hug to you

Hi alibee!! Welcome back from your trip. Oh boy, doesn't it stink when you WANT to be on track but someone (usually family) insists that you eat a bunch of stuff you know you shouldn't...well, if you had to have cheesecake, I sure hope it was fantastic!!! Different flavors?...mmmm

Hi tryin'hard! Well, it's good to know that you can see that you would rather lessen your stress and workload, as opposed to the economic gain. Some things just aren't worth the hassle.

Some problem - "you're too thin" - But it is difficult to come up with an answer to that - certainly jealousy plays into it, from some folks. And I guess others think that they're actually concerned about your health "you'll get sick if you're so thin" - yeah, right. I haven't had anyone say it to me yet, but I think I would reply, "oh, really?" Then change the subject

I found a part-time job for the winter - the positives are that it's only 7 minutes from home, and the people seem nice. But it's just a counter position in a small bakery/sandwich shop. But it's work, and any job done well is honorable...sure gets hectic during lunch rush, though! I think I did well not to mess up any orders today...but we'll see about tomorrow!

We went to an adult's Halloween party last Friday - I was a vampire biker chick - you would have gasped at my get-up - a black net shirt with a black tubetop underneath; temporary tattoos; my low-slung leather pants, and a LONG blonde wig - what fun! Glad my husband is so secure, otherwise he would have been annoyed at me enjoying the guys looking

Have a great night, and I'll check in tomorrow!

Your friend, Holly

Angry Pulling out the smilies!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Amy! Happy birthday! I know this is coming to you a bit late. But if you are anything like me you celebrate all week...heck all month! I hope you enjoyed your celebration.

Well everyone...I fell off the back porch steps AGAIN. As you know, it has been raining everyday it has finally let up these last two days. Well Monday is was just raining non-stop. But the kids didn't have the rain coats in the morning since it hadn't been raining when they left for school. So I figured I would put on my sneakers and meet them at the bus stop with the rain coats. Well I knew the steps were slick on account that they are wooden steps and it had been raining. So I was going very slowly since I knew had fallen before and I was taking good firm steps by the second step I was up in the air. In a skirt mind you! My DH helped me up. I have to say this one was worse than the first time. I have bruises on my arms, on my behind, and on my back that I can't see but surely do feel. I ache to drive, sit, walk, stand, and pull doors open. I didn't go to school Tuesday I couldn't even lug my back back around without feeling a strain in my back.

On the other hand I did manage to do 2.5 miles on my elliptical machine today. I am a firm believer that if I allow the pain to get in the way of exercise I will end up being in more pain because the soreness will settle in. I wasn't in any pain while I did my mileage and I stopped immediately once I felt I had had enough. So I think that will do for now.

I am bouncing between 192 and 194 back and forth. I really have to make a better effort to stay away from the uneccessary foods. Snowey I really have to find out what you are doing to lose your weight so effortlessly. You are in the 80s! WOW! That is so wonderful. I know you probably don't have much time but could you share some of your wonderful WW tips or do and don'ts? I would be really interested.

I need tips you guys!!! I am going crazy here! I am sitting so close to the 80s and can't seem to get over the hump. I know I am the cause to the problem. I am so guilty I open mouth and insert junk more than I should. I will be the first to admit my shame. But I am so close. I really like using my weight loss graph on MY Yahoo because I insert my weight weekly and it will show the ups and downs and I really get upset with myself when I see the up and then I get serious. Well this week it went up.

I think I better get going. I have some homework to get done and I would like to see if I can manage a couple of minutes on the ab roller. I doubt it my arm is very sore from the fall. So anyhow I will talk again.

tryin hard-all you can do is let them know that you are eating a balanced diet-if they are insinuating that you are starving yourself, and that you are comfortable with your new size. You are at a good weight for your height, neither underweight or overweight-and any doctor will tell you that. Don't worry about what the other people are saying. (especially if they are chubby female co-workers!)

Hi everyone..... just a quick hello because I am off on the bike.

Just wanted everyone to know that I finally reached the 5 kg (11 pound) goal this week!!

Took me 8 weeks to do it, but I got there.

I am off on a protest ride today because they are increasing the registration by $50 per bike.... for 'educational' purposes.... for who? Us or the psycho car drivers??

I will post more when I get home this afternoon!!
(and read through all the posts too!)

Exclamation Woohoo

190.5! I have to say it is only by luck of the draw because I really haven't been eating right especially with Halloween...which means CANDY; chocolate no doubt. But I managed to drop some excess weight even with that TOM; which you know how impossible that is to do.

Nola ~~~have a safe rally. I saw a lady biker the other day as I went into the grocery store and I thought of you lady bikers here. I wanted to go over to her and say "Hi Nola!" But I don't think she would have understood. LOL

Snowey ~~~take some time to breath every now and then. I was looking for a part time job but I haven't heard from anyone yet. One did call my job to get an insight on my job performance at the college but other than that no offers. How's the WW going? Keep focused; I was kind of coming unglued on the last post but I was relieved when I got on the scale this morning so until next time...

Aphil ~~~the other day I was being inspired by you. My daughter (11yrs) and I were having a mother and daughter together time and we were trying to do some belly moves. DARN!--it is hard. I told her if I lose all my weight I want to lose I am going to see about learning to belly dance. But we had a great time looking at each other in the mirror and going NOWHERE!

Holly ~~~would love to see Halloween picks in your cool costume. I bet you all had a blast. We just took the kids trick or treating. I wanted to dress up but I didn't take the time to get things together to make a costume.

Alibee ~~~how are you doing girl?

I know we had a few new members on the other page. Come on back and regain some focus or share your success.

Well I better sign off here. I have some homework to get done. But I had share my success with you all. I can't describe how much this site and these threads have inspired me to remain focused and have given me great success. Well thank you to each and everyone of you on this thread for your encouragement and support. I can see the 80s over the horizon and it looks amazingly beatiful. I have not weighed less than 200 since before 1999 is that something!

Talk to you all again.

Kina ~~~ Way to go on the pounds down !!! I am doing the happy dance for you How are you doing after your tumble down the stairs? I hope you are feeling better.
Take care of yourself oke doke??

Nola~~~ And a big high five to you also. You will be at your goal in no time !!! Keep up the good work.

So how is everyone else doing today??

I am doing fine, just being a slug (first day of TOM) I made a WW casserole for dinner and had some WW crustless pumpkin pie and watched some DVD's this afternoon. Tomorrow I should have some energy back.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend and dont forget to pop in and say hello..

Talking :)

Hi girls..... finally I have a few minutes to sit down and type!

So good to see that we have so many 'losers' here again! yay!

I completely lost control on Saturday after the weigh in. We had to go to a funeral about an hour's drive away. I weighed in, then we left. I had apples, water, oranges and a bag of veggies with me. By the time we got there, we had eaten all the snacks!

We skipped the 'lunch' at the family's house because it was our brother-in-laws father, so we did not know the family really well. We went to Subway! Then a mad rush home to meet the bikey friends at our house for a ride. I sent a message in between that to you girls.

I was doing fine until we stopped at a small country bakery about 50 km out of the city...... and I had a peppermint slice. I would have called it a bar.... or a square living in canada. It was a chocolate square with peppermint icing in the middle and chocolate on top. I have not even thought about one of these for months and months....... but ate the whole thing!

It was so good!

Then we had a bbq and once again, I was on track with 2 hot dogs when someone made a 'chocolate' run and bought these bite size Sara Lee ice cream things. Ohhhhh.... I tried one, loved the white chocolate, then had to have a sample of the other 2 flavours..... DARN!! Each one was worth 2 points, plus I had 2 Mike's Hard Lemonades The Aussies import them!! yay!!

Do you get those in the US? They are a Canadian thing..... vodka and the sweet lemonade that we get in Canada. At almost 6% alcohol, drink 3 of those in an hour and you are in trouble! They are 3.5 points each......

The protest ride was incredible!! There were 500 bikes there! I got lost in the group and got separated from my friend. We were riding down along the bay and had to ride inland for awhile. There were a couple of corners that were not signed so I took a wrong turn. Lost the group of 500 bikes? ya.... would only happen to me. I stopped at a place I had been before, turned out to be just 5 mins away from the group. My friend came and found me!! She was more stressed than I was! She got a couple to help her find me, (we both had our mobile phones) and she kept telling them 'my friend has only been in Canada for a year, she just got her license, has never been this far out of the city... and has to learn to drive on the other side of the road!! She is probably crying somewhere and wont get on the bike!" She is so sweet for being so worried about me. I stayed calm, left her a voice message, stayed in one place.... hhhmmm just what my mom told me to do if I got lost in a crowd when I was a kid.....

All in all...... Saturday was so much fun on the bikes, but so bad food wise. I shaped up on Sunday and today is another day at home... I took Monday off because Tuesday is a holiday here. I can already feel the new and improved Nola. I will be at work on Wednesday all refreshed with a new attitude and outlook. (for about an hour.... )

I had intended to go to the gym this morning.... hubby also took the day off and is still sleeping!! I think a long walk will be good for me. We are off on the bikes today to go visit Tim's nanna. We have not seen her for months and months it seems like. She also lives in a small town that has beautiful roads to get there..... we are going to take the scenic route.

Default still more!

hehehehe

I was worried that I had too long of a message, so I posted it.

Gawd.... I could chat for hours once you get me going.

Congrats everyone on the losses!!

I find this place so motivational....... as you can see, when I am away things slide downhill and when I stick with you girls for motivation...... things go great!

Kina - Great work! I giggled when you said that about the lady biker. hehehehehe You should have walked up to her and said 'G'day mate, fair dinkum you look alot like the sheila I know from the net, mind your p's and q's on the road and safe riding'. She would have thought you were crazy!

Some day I will have to go to Vermont and hire a bike so I can ride with Holly!!! Or she can come to Australia and tour around on bikes!!

Amy - happy belated (lated) b-day! I hope you had a great week!

Well... i should get this walk overwith so I can get on with my day!

Have a good one girls!

Nola.

Wow, the bike protest sounds cool! Today my DB (as compared to DH, hee hee) left for work with his leather motorcycle jacket on. It freaks me out to have him riding around in this icy weather, but at least he's wearing leather and his helmet, which I force on him. Guys in motorcycle clothes are hot

And, to continue on the "hardcore" theme, I'm getting my tattoo touched up today over lunch. Owie.

As I mentioned last post, this month is "National Novel Writing Month" (http://www.nanowrimo.org) so I'm writing a romance novel. Weirdly enough, it's a good way to not snack. I've written my first kiss scene and turned bright red while doing it, so I hope I can write the rest of the novel without too much embarassment. Hee.

I hope you're all doing well. No more falling off porches, ya hear?

I must be a doofus, I don't see the new thread?

Anyway, Hi! I started my part-time job last week; it's at a little bakery/sandwich shop just 5 miles away. It's very part-time - 3 days, 18 or so hours. Hope that will be adequate $$; otherwise, I might have to supplement with something else. Not many website jobs for husband lately!

I was concerned about Kina sounding kinda desperate; then she sounded much better in her next post. Yay!

'Nola, I am happily jealous of your ride! I had to laugh at your saying you got lost from a group of 500 bikes - you funny girl! Did you ever think you'd be at this point? Life is great.

Hi Nancy! Hope everything's cool with you. Would you say that the WW is just an accepted way of your cooking/eating now? That is so great. The pounds are melting, melting away....

Hi aphil - hope you're all over the tummy bug.

hi alibee! Your DB is a biker? Do you ride behind him? Glad he wears leather protection - are helmets optional in your state? I am too much of a wuss to even think of going helmet-less if I had the choice - I've always even worn a leather jacket when it's been 90 degrees out. Good luck on your tat touch-up!

Hello also to tryin'hard, Christine, and jacklyn! And I'm still calling out to Sprite and Melisa!!!

Gotta eat my breakfast of yogurt/Kashi, and get ready for work...oh yeah, working in the bakery so far has not tempted me at all; since I'm working, I can't be eating all the stuff while on the job - but the owners try to give me french bread at the end of the day - I have to say NO! 'cause I love it too much!!! Simple carbs like breads are so tasty to me - but I know I can do with only a fraction of what I used to eat, and it really helps keep the weight down. And keeps me from getting that sleepy feeling after I eat.

Have a great day!!!

Holly
