Default Hi

HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING
I haven't walked for a few days. My knee hurts and I was afraid to put the stress on it. I don't think the Celabrex is going to be the answer. I sure don't want another injection. I think that is just a patch for the time being. Got to get through the Holiday and then I will think about it.
All you nice people have a Great Holiday...Joanne

Default Hi

Where is everybody?? I did have a great Thanksgiving.. I am now paying.. I gained 3 lbs but have lost it and am again at goal. I haven't been able to walk too much though. My knee wants to holler at me and on top of that my stomach has started screaming so I had to stop taking the Celebrax. I seem to be having a lot of stomach pain. So now you know my woes Have a Dr. appointment next week.

Hi and how are all the walkers? I haven't been walking, unless you count up and down the aisles at Wal-Mart How is everyone...how are your knees Joanne...I am counting the 10 K I walk at work and I know it makes a huge difference in my keeping the 42 lbs off that I have lost...now if I could just double that and get the last 35-40 off....I will do this...bye for now...Liz in Canada

Default Hey There

Hello Liz- I have been not walking either. First because my knee hurt too much and now because I just don't seem to find the time. The Dr. injected my knee and it feels some better. I want to get back into my routine but I have to get Christmas under control first. I am walking in the mall shopping or as you are walmart. I also don't want to regain any of the weight I have lost.
Hope you all are well...Joanne

Default Hi

Welcomw Baylee_B... 6 lbs in a week !! That is great! I need to lose about 7 more to be where I want to be but that has been a challenge for sometime now. Up untill recently I have walked an average of 21-25 miles a week. I have had some knee problems and hope they are getting resolved. The Dr. injected it last week. I lost 57 lbs. with the help of W/W and walking. I hope to never put it back on. I have found that when you are down that it is a good thing to get out away from everything and forget it all if possible. I walk with my C/D music when I can.
Glad to have some fresh ideas, so pass them on... Bye for now...Joanne

Hello all - I've been a walker for quite a while. Been serious at it for about 4 years. Have completed a few Marathons (racewalking) but now find it's a little much on my body.

So I've "scaled" down to about 10-15 miles per week. It keeps the weight and demons somewhat at bay. Really need to keep it up this holiday season. But I'm not trying to lose any more weight "just" maintain.

Much luck to you all.

And Happy Holidays!

Default Hey

Patch 30- Welcome... I also have been a serious walker for several years.. I have never done any marathons except with myself. I seem to be able to maintain my 3 miles a day average. When I try to push for more it is a little too much for my body. I have osteoarthritis and it hurts too much. I do it for my weight control and health, physical and mental. A hour a day helps to clear my mind of all the daily garbage. I don't really need to lose more weight but will take a few off if I can get it.
I hope the Holidays are kind to us all...Joanne

Hey Joanne and all you guys -

Just checking in. I also post walking on the McSkinny's Loosing Floozies - December Exercise Challenge.

I've walked 34.5 miles so far this December.

Probably will do 2-3 tonight... 3 Thursday...

Then going skiing (but have not done THAT in 20 years so "we'll see" - I'm not going to push myself. Saturday's are usually my longest walk (this past I did 9 miles) but don't know what I'll do at the ski area.

Just hoping to maintain or gain a pound at most this holiday season.

Joanne I think 3 miles a day is just awesome! Especially with the osteoarthritis you have. You go girl!

Liz - you will get there. Remember, it's just a pound at a time. Good luck with your 10K.

Hey there Baylee - I know what you mean about the tread mill. I need visual stimulation to keep going, and I've also found I need human contact.

That's why I've rejoined this Marathon training group - not to do anymore Marathons, but for the comraderie. I meet them on Monday nights for track, hookup with one of the gals on Thursdays for a quick and short 45 min walk, and then do somewhere btw 5-10 miles with a bunch of them on most Saturdays.

Ciao

Default Hi

Good Morning .. I have not walked for a couple days. There always seems to be something to get in my way. I am really looking forward to the first of the new year so that I can get back to my regular routine without so many extra things to do.
Patch 128? I haven't weighed near that in years. I am 151 this morning and feel lucky it isn't more. It is really hard for me to lose. I try to do everything close to right. Holidays and a lot of food around is a nightmare. I have to concider other people though.
Liz.. How are you? Keep up the good work.
Baylee... I have a treadmil and find it hard to use it too. I like the outside walking. I like walking alone with my CD player. I live a mile and half from the Gulf of Mexico.. A beach is 3 miles away. I walk there as often as I can.
Bye you all...Joanne

Hey Joanne and all of you Exercisettes!

Oh Joanne - that must be heaven to walk along and see the gulf's water. I live in Santa Monica about 2 blocks from a cliffside park overlooking the beach. It's such a beautiful view and I never get tired of it.

I know during the holidays it just can be so tempting to indulge, and when you don't - at least every once in a while - you end up feeling deprived. So enjoy - and have a great holiday.

Default Hey There

Patch - I have always wondered what it was like in California... I have been a lifetimer for the past 3 years. I don't go to all the meetings like I used to. I watch my weight very close and get real upset when the scale starts to creep up. I walked my 3 miles today and will try to do so as much as I can during the Holidays . I know I will be eating things I shouldn't at times but hope to balance it out with my walking and being good as much as possible.
Hello to Liz and all my walking friends...Joanne

Hey Joanne - Yeah I'm a lifer too since July '98. And I too have had my laspses... I had stopped going to meetings regularly, just once a month, was journalling erratically, ya da ya da... and the pounds slowly crept back (10 pounds above goal). I hated to pay again (but did a couple of times) but knew if I didn't get back into weekly meetings, etc. I'd keep sabotaging myself.

My WW leader started a 12 Week Challenge to lose, back in June '01, and that really jumpstarted me. I'm now back at my dream weight, but as much as I know how worth it - it is... it's tough at this time of year.

So give yourself a pat on the back for hanging in there Joanne and all you guys... and at least being conscious of what you're doing.
