Default Hey There

Marileel- The last NB I bought is a seven 13...I wore a 319 would you believe over 2 yrs. The sole was wore out . I still wear them to work in the yard. I will buy a new pair soon as I like to have a couple pair at a time. I have osteoarthritis in my feet as well as every where else. Other shoes hurt. I wear dress shoes only for church or special times.
I walked my 3 miles yesterday and did fine. I need that time for me. Keep walking and getting healthy...Joanne

Hi there gals... Joanne Blisters are the worst... why not take the Nike's back - if they're not already trashed? They may have been on sale, but that doesn't mean you should settle for a defective pair. Also a tip I learned from long distance walking, when doing intensive walking or if my feet for whatever reason feel tender... I put vasoline...yes vasoline all over my feet and in between the toes and have only in all the miles I've done gotten 2 blisters (yep - no vasoline!). Might be worth trying...

Aisics are a great brand for walking as well... I've gotten the Kayuno, and love 'em. Also the Adidas "Brevard" is a great brand as well. I'm actually considering a lightweight New Balance "the 100?) for short racewalking stints... they've been highly recco'd by other racewalkers... but they are not good for long distance... since they don't have substantial support.

Welcome Marilee This is a great site!

Snowball we all started from being overweight "couch potatos". At least I did -- so remember 1 1/2 miles is far better than zero!!! Go get 'em!

Did some hill work this morn... 3 miles.

Hey there Walkers

Walked about 6 miles on Saturday and 2 miles on Sunday.

If it doesn't rain this evening... I'll go to track -- otherwise I'll do my Sweatin' wit the Oldies tape (maybe) at home.

good to see all you gals.

Default Hey There

I walked yesterday but not today. Sat here waiting for a phone call that didn't come.. Tomorrow. I told my hubby he would have to deal with it or let it go on the machine, I wasn't going to mess up my walk.
My goodness Patch you sure do walk a lot of miles..Do you do 6 miles in one stretch?I can do 4 but that is a lot for me.
Marleel..Every bit helps.. My sister does it in 5 min.spats. I don't know how productive that is but she is doing it.That's what counts.
Hey Lynock. Are you using your treadmill?
Bye ...Joanne

Joanne Yep I did it all in one go... but then I've been training for this for the past five years, and have done 5 marathons walking.

I've "cut" back to doing 6-12 miles at the most. I want to do a couple of half marathons and 10K's (6.2 mi) this spring and summer.

Just remember Joanne you're doing just great - do not compare to anyone else. It's all about being healthy.

Default Hi

Patch- I can tell from your picture that you are a few years younger than I am. I will be 69 in march. I think that I am doing O.K. for my age and health. I have osteoarthritis and feel lucky to do as much as I do. A few years ago I could not walk 1/2 mile . I rejoined WW and lost 57 lbs and now am trying to lose a few more and stay/get as healthy as I can. I should have started earlier. I always was a person who liked to walk.I tried other exercises but they hurt too much.

My Goodness,I think all our walkers are just too tired to let us know how they are doing..I walk almost every day. I need to find something to add to make this more interesting. Let us know how you are doing...Joanne

Well, it was only the incentive of meeting my friend that got me out of bed this morning to walk. Did about 2 miles. Brrrrr. It was cold for LA.

How ya doin' Joanne?
