Hi there gals...
Joanne Blisters are the worst... why not take the Nike's back - if they're not already trashed? They may have been on sale, but that doesn't mean you should settle for a defective pair. Also a tip I learned from long distance walking, when doing intensive walking or if my feet for whatever reason feel tender... I put vasoline...yes vasoline all over my feet and in between the toes and have only in all the miles I've done gotten 2 blisters (yep - no vasoline!). Might be worth trying...
Aisics are a great brand for walking as well... I've gotten the Kayuno, and love 'em. Also the Adidas "Brevard" is a great brand as well. I'm actually considering a lightweight New Balance "the 100?) for short racewalking stints... they've been highly recco'd by other racewalkers... but they are not good for long distance... since they don't have substantial support.
Welcome Marilee This is a great site!
Snowball we all started from being overweight "couch potatos". At least I did

-- so remember 1 1/2 miles is far better than zero!!! Go get 'em!
