Good Morning!

Well it's Friday at LAST! I ran my 8K yesterday but when I checked my handy dandy schedule I realized that it was supposed to be 9.5K OOPS! But I was so tired yesterday that I had to take a couple of walk breaks at the end of 8K and I honestly don't think I could have managed 9.5K. I will do 7K today and hope for the best because my legs are pretty sore. I am aiming for 54K this week if I can fit in a morning run on Saturday. I just might be pushing it a bit.

Hi guys! I did my usual 3mi this am.

Anne, 54K this week! Good job!

Ilene, I hate it when things get in the way and I can't run, but REALLY want to. Sounds like you'll be back on track soon though.

Madjek, Congrats and keep up the good work!

Happy running everyone!

Hey girls

I've been MIA this week, sorry about that life has been getting in the way!! Oh that annoys me ... As of yesterday I am back on track with the running, and it was the most difficult run I've had in ages I did 9k and it took me forever 1h15mins... I guess that's what happens when you take an unexpected 3 days off from the running and the gym... Oh well, c'est la vie!! Today I ran 55 minutes and it felt good although I have no idea how far I went, but at least it was a good run...

It's a gorgeous day here in Eastern Ontario ... How is everyone else doing?

I managed to get outside running twice this weekend. (I usually only do one longer run on weekends). Saturday was an easy 6.7km. So I decided to do a shorter "long" run this am of 11k, then looking at my schedule after I got home I realized it should have been more like 15k. I guess I'm not great at following someone else's schedule. Last Sunday I did 16k when it was supposed to be 13k. I guess as long as I slowly increase distance without too great an increase it will work out ok. Nice conditions this weekend--sunny, cold, nice hard packed snow to run on rather than the rough ice of last weekend and the soft, fresh snow of the week.

wndranne: Glad to hear all is well with you and baby! I only ever had one ultrasound with my first pregnancy, but I remember how amazing it was to "see" the baby.

Madjek: great job with the c25k program. Stick with it, it works! Oh, and I wear long underwear under my running pants on cold days. On really cold days, I wore heavy duty long johns and wind pants, but hopefully they're over until next year.

Ali: I've been debating buying new shoes myself for a couple of weeks now, and not wanting to wear a new pair through our spring weather too. But with the way my knees feel now, I'm not going to wait. I love my forerunner btw. One of my favourite features is setting a goal pace and distance and "racing" the little stick man.

ski black: Welcome!

Annie: I did something similar today, I did a shorter long run of only 11k, then got home, looked at my schedule and realized I should have gone 15k. 54k is a lot for one week! Good luck.

Ilene: I hate it when life gets in the way of running too. Great job getting back out there though. Having a good run is more important than the speed or distance I think.

Keep it up everyone!

hey everyone. good to see everyone getting some good runs in. i ran my first six mile run this weekend. it went really well. i went out friday night and had a little too much to drink and ended up only getting about 6 hours of sleep but i finished my six miles in 11 minute miles which is a fantastic pace for me.

i feel myself getting stronger as a runner every day. i definitely was not pushing myself hard enough before i started training for this marathon.. my legs are killing me today but i enjoy that feeling. lets me know i'm getting something done.

Hi guys!

Well, the morning sickness got me. I survived fatigue, swollen feet and sore joints. But the thought of shaking up my system with a run this morning just made me want to gag. So now I'm a walker, at least until the nausea passes, which should be about in another month. I'm now running vicariously through you guys, so make sure you give lots of details.

I did walk 2.5 mi this morning, about 45 minutes, so I'm not being a total slug. Can hardly wait until I can run again though. Who knows, it could be soon, if I get a good day.

Good Afternoon!

I missed my run last night. This totally messes up my schedule. In order to try to fit in all my Kms I ran 7K today on my lunch hour, tomorrow I will run 13K, Saturday I will run the 11K and Sunday I think we are planning to go 16K. By Monday I should be thoroughly exhausted. And I better weigh 1 lb less!!!!!

Anne - I hear ya on the morning sickness... I have three kids and my youngest is 20 months old so it hasn't been that long for me. Hats off to you getting out there for a walk when I'm sure what you really want to do is crawl back into bed!

Laura - How is the marathon training going? How many miles are you up to for your long run? I am at 18K which is about 11.25M and my pace is slow, as in 8 min on average for a Km which equals about 12.8 min for a mile. I know I could go faster if I really pushed it, and my partner and I have working on speed a bit, but not so for the long run.

Arg. I really need to buy new shoes. I tried running Tuesday am, but decided after 1k that it was a bad, painful idea and limped home. This morning my knee felt much better, so I did an easy 8k. Do I dare take all 3 of my little darlings with me to the store tomorrow afternoon?

Laura, congrats on the 6mile run. Longer distances are such a huge milestone for me the first time, and then after a couple of times of running that distance, I wonder why I was worried about it in the first place.

wndranne, sorry to hear that morning sickness has found you. It managed to find me earlier with each of my pregnancies and seemed more like all day sickness to me. (With my the last pregnancy, peeing on the stick was a formality since I'd already been gagging while brushing my teeth for 2 days). But you'll feel much better in a few more weeks, and it really is all worth it! Do what you can to get through it for now.

Annie, what training program are you following? When is the marathon? I've always run by myself, but some mornings it would be nice motivation to know that someone else is expecting me.

I haven't been running in 6 days. I wasn't feeling very good. But tonite I said the heck with it, I'm going out! Had a great run but I got really hot and I took off my hat and opened my jacket. I hope it wasn't a mistake and I get sick again. Happy running chicas!

Madjek -- Doncha know that you can't catch a cold that way! I'm sure you'll be fine...

In a few minutes I am going out, I haven't run or exercised in 2 days, I'm getting sore from lack of exercise... TTFN

Yesterday I had a GREAT run, I ran a total of 10.5K... I was pleased with that I kinda cheated because I stopped in at my mother's at about 8.5K and had a coffee with her then I went on my way... It was a gorgeous day too!! Gotta love those sunny cold days!!

Madjek, if taking off your hat and opening your jacket while running caused a cold, I'd have spent the winter suffering from a constant cold. On the other hand, taking off your hat can cause frost bite if the temps are cold enough. So if your ears start to hurt, put the hat back on!

Ilene, hope you had a good run yesterday. I get really figgedy when I haven't exercised in a couple of days.

My attempt to buy shoes on Friday afternoon was thwarted by a lack of my size in my current shoes. I decided to wait until they could get them in from another store rather than trying to find another pair that were equally comfortable while I had my kids with me.

2 runs this weekend. A short 5.5k Sat. am under sunny skies and 13.5 k today in the snow. I cut short my planned 15k to pick up coffee on the way home; the coffee shop is about 1.5k from my house, so I did finish the 15k, but at least half of it was walking and sipping at coffee. It's still snowing, so it looks like my second work out for today will be some shovelling this afternoon and maybe sledding with the kids.

Hi all,

I have been having some rally hard runs lately.. I had a good one Friday, but today's 13 K ened with me walking the last KM due to severe dizzyness and nausea. I have been doing well nutritionaaly, but wonder if I am not eating enough. It's hard, but I think I'll eat more and try to lose more slowly. Oh well I am only about 10lbs from my goal.

Still need the new shoes.

Cheers!

Good Morning!

I had a terriffic 16K run last night. The weather was good, but there was a bit of a cold wind. I managed to get in all but one of my runs for a total of 45.5. I was aiming to run 56 K but I missed an 11K run. But the crazy thing was my weigh in on Friday! I was down almost 5 lbs. I thought it might have been dehydration or something but this morning I was 137.5 again. I am totally tickled pink!

Only Me - I forgot to answer your question. I am following a half marathon training program that I found on a half-marathon web site. I don't remember the web address off hand but if you are interested I could hunt it down. I did a mileage build up program before I started the half marathon training.
