i'm trying to motivate to do another 60 min jog on the hamster wheel when i get home tonight. my goal is to get to the point where i can cover 6 miles in that time rather than the 5.5 i'm presently doing. well that and i wish this dang inner tube around my waist would begin to deflate already. sigh.

I did my pilates for the buns & thighs dvd Friday.

Later Friday evening, I did 45 minutes on the treadmill at 4.5 mph.

Felt kinda sluggish on the treadmill, but I kept the pace steady, etc

I did my pilates for abs dvd on Saturday.

I then did 45 minutes on the treadmill at 4.5 mph.

I R.E.A.L.L.Y. didn't want to walk today, but I knew if I did it today, I wouldn't have to do it on Sunday (my day off from exercise ), lol.

Blah. My shins are too. Short of numbing my legs with novacaine, I'm not sure what to do.

I too do a teadmill workout 4-5 days a week. I'd be interested to know what speed and incline you guys do?

i only go 3 times a week.
just did 6 mile jog and .5 mile walk! woot woot! this is my best ever! my speed varies because i'm supposed to be trying to keep my heart rate around 145-155 zone. i ignore the heart rate and just run it out for the last half mile so i ended up averaging out at exactly 10 mins/mile. 0 incline. sad i know. but the doc told me it would exacerbate the shin splint situation. i think when i get more used to going this distance and can pick up speed a little i might try and switch to 1-2 incline since apparently that's more true to life or something. i think that's a couple months off for me at least though.

Oh boy - so we have 3 of us here with shin problems!!
My shin splints are acting up so much again. Very hurty. I'm going to have to cut back to running 3x weekly with a day break in between. I'm sooooo sad, soooo disappointed.

I read a good article on shin splints though - check it out:
http://www.watfxc.com/TF/TF%20Educat...in_splints.htm

*sigh*

PS - did 30 min tonight. had to break every 5 min and stretch shins/calves for about 45 seconds. that seemed to really help.

To you gals on this treadmill link... take care of yourselves & shin splits!! Try different kinds of aerobics like cycling or walking as a good way to get your cardio in until the shin splits heals

Unfortunately walking does the same thing for my shin splints. and I absolutely despite the bicycle. I am going to have to think of something else for my alternate day exercises until these puppies heal! The great thing about the treadmill was that it is at work, and while I'm at work I do it on my break.
