We went to the casino and it was terrible. I told him not to go but he insisted. Just wouldn't listen to reason. We got home before 8 :00. I told him I was not going to go more than once a week but I know he assumes he will talk me into it. We will see.
One time I had an appointment with the Tavr doctor to plan my procedure. Two days before I ended up in the hospital because of my heart failure. He got me fixed up and got me released so I could keep my appointment after I left the hospital. Insurance denied the charge for the doctor appointment because I was in the hospital that day. But they must have got it worked out because I saw the charge finally got paid from a year ago.
Anytime I track but have less than 1000 calories I add something in snacks to make it come to 1000. I like to complete it because of it syncing with calories burned on Fitbit.
I took Magnesium last night but not Benedryl. I slept good but not long enough. When I woke up at 6 I could not fall back to sleep,so I was tired all day. I want to sleep without meds but now I'm used to it and might have to quit. I like getting the extra, sleep but don't want to take anything. Sleep is supposed to be a natural thing.
I read about how to stop the dawn phenomenon and one of the things is to exercise before bed. I always heard not to. But it might to be just to use up some glucose.Another thing is to eat some carbs but I really don't want to do that because I want to fast. Sometimes reading helps me sleep but they say no blue light before bed. I only read on my Kindle or my tablet. I can no longer see well enough to read a print book. Its really he'll to get old,but it beats tablet. I can no longer see well enough to read a print book. Its really **** to get old,but it beats the alternative.

When I woke up for the bathroom at 3, blood sugar was 92. At 7:30 it was 80. I don't think I've ever had a blood sugar that low, although it is considered normal, not low. I will check again to see if it spikes after coffee.
Yesterday, before we left for the casino at 4:00 I ate a turkey sandwich so I would not get hungry at the casino. When we came home I ate some of DHs French fries from McDonalds. And a couple pieces of chocolate candy. I wanted to see what effect eating carbs at bedtime would do. Blood sugar was high at bedtime so I took meds. I think the meds brought sugar down to 80 during sleep although it didn't the night before. All these years of having diabetes and I still don't understand it!
_______________
After having coffee around 10:30 blood sugar was 103! I am thrilled with these numbers I'm having! Its higher, but still in a good range. I hope I can keep this up.
Unfortunately the scale was the same as yesterday, 182.6.

They changed the way they do things when we get our blood drawn for PCP appointments. We got a message today that our test results were ready. My A1c was 5.7 and DH was 7.4. Not sure how much our illness caused it to be up. Other numbers weren't too bad. It is a shame that neither of us has felt good enough to cook healthy for us.
I slept good last night. I knew DS wouldn't call since she was getting out of nursing home today so I was able to relax and didn't get up out of bed until 9:35 this morning. I couldn't believe how late it was when I got up. Didn't feel like cooking for breakfast so I ate a slice of cheese toast made with a sl SLMG bread and a sl Velveeta along with a mandarin orange and a protein shake. I think I did better just eating what I want when I want it and not worrying about carbs etc.
We will have tilapia for dinner. I will add a salad and veggie to mine and have a protein shake later tonight.
Carol Sue I don't understand how diabetes and bs works either. I would have thought that my FBG would have been higher was less than 110 today and yesterday, but when I thought it would have been lower it was higher. I think I end up overeating trying to eat within certain guidelines.

When I have my PCP appointment he gives me a script for my labs for next time. I get them done at the lab about a week before my appointment. They show up on my portal plus get sent to the doctor. When I was in the hospital they would draw blood every morning and about an hour later I could see the results on my portal because I had my tablet with me. I live ked that.
Last time we were at Walmart he bought Mandarins and we split one every day. They were good.
I am going to start watching carbs again. No more chocolate candy.
Today DH went to the store and bought ground beef, buns, and we were out of onuons. He made hamburgers on the George Foreman grill. They were good, and I had mine with leftover pastaroni Alfredo from yesterday. 2 hours after dinner blood sugar was 113! I don't know what is going on here. Sometimes blood sugar takes longer than 2 hours to reach peak. I recently realized I'm taking my meds wrong. I should be taking it before I eat. But I'm afraid I will not eat enough carb and I'll get a hypo. So I wait til blood sugar goes up and I take it according to how high blood sugar is. I want to change that but I'm afraid of the G.
I think I will get a better A1c if I do it correctly.
I am reading "How We Get Fat and What to Do About It.". So far they have only said that Overeating is not it and under exercising isn't either. It looks like its going to come down to Insulin and Insulin Resistance. Im curious to see "What ToDo About It."

Good sleep! Up at 3am for the bathroom. Blood sugar 92. Went back to sleep til 9:30
. Blood sugar 103. At 9:30, so that's my FBG! Weight down .4 to 182.2.
I think DH will want to go to the casino today, because he offered to give me a back rub last night. And if we go, I won't have to eat (or cook) dinner.
Today I hope to get to the "What to do about it" part of the book.
Carol Sue have a good day at the casino and enjoy reading your book.
I am feeling human again today. Weight was 158 lbs again today and has been for 3 or 4 days which show a 2 lb weight loss for this week. FBG was 112. I know that is pretty good but I would like for it to be less. However, I am tired of salads and so is DH.
I told him last night that I want to cut my fat grams back and go back to lowfat woe. I think having more fat is causing my A1c to be higher. I am having my eggs, bacon and toast today with SLMG bread and a mandarin orange. I am cooking the other half of the pork ribs we had for Labor Day. We have leftover beans that I will eat with it. I haven't finished out my calorie count for today, but I have done half of my exercises. I've been eating when hungry at night and I think it causes my FBG to be higher. So will work at stopping that as well.
I finally heard from DS yesterday once she was home. She was glad to be home. She is getting port inserted this morning and I'm sure she will be tired and sleep when she gets home. She will call when she feels like it. Hospitals don't get in a hurry and I don't know what all that entails.
Haven't heard from the few family members who may be in line of the storm. I think the only thing they would have gotten is the flooding from surges. I honestly think they are for enough inland that they are all safe. Still waiting to hear from DSIL who lives on the gulf side of FL.

Well, Trish, I am no judge of what causes higher A1c. I always consider it carbs, and lack of exercise, which seems to be my problem, but does not apply to you. I would be ecstatic If I had your A1C but I only once was under 6, and that was when I was low carb and exercising regularly. Even my doctor asked how I did it! I don't think you eat high fat,but I guess there are always ways you can lower it. Fat leads to satiety, if its healthy fat. What are you eating that is fat? Some people cut back on cheese.
DH had a very bad casino trip on Wednesday at the local casino. Today he wants to go to the old casino. We were never going to go there again. We don't even get mail from them anymore. As much as I don't want to go, I can read in the Food Court and eat a good salad if I choose.
This book is by Gary Taubes if you heard of him. It got very interesting today. Telling how carbs cause an insulin response and insulin stores fat. Foods to avoid are sugars, starch like pasta, bread, corn, potatoes, rice, starchy root vegetables and foods to eat are meat, fish, green fibrous vegetables and some fruits. These low carb diets began years ago as far back as the 1800s.and early 1900s. Others pushed high carb diets that were considered to be low fat. But fat does not cause an insulin response and its all about keeping insulin low. Even back when I was a kid I remember hearing not to eat bread, potatoes or pasta. So it was known back then, but these foods are inexpensive so poor people used them to feed hungry families. They all raise insulin and are stored as fat. The body uses the fat for energy, but only after it uses the glucose circulating in our blood. If we continue eating the carbs we never need to use the stored fat for energy. It really does make sense but these are foods I enjoy. Its hard to give them up. But if I want to lose weight I must do what I must do!
I hope you get to talk to your sister and she is doing well.
Carol Sue When I eat high fat such as avocado or use high fat foods, they make me sleepy. They don't give me energy like they say it should. DS and I were talking about the hospital foods the other day. I told her I love my eggs and bacon, but could not eat bacon in the hospital. I realized it was because I cook my bacon on a plate between paper towels to squeeze out the fat. When growing up and learning to cook, I learned to take all the food that I fried even fries and drain the fat off of it. For example, my fried chicken was always crispy but not greasy.
I can't do bullet coffee because it gives me no energy, make me want a nap after drinking it. I'm not sure I should even be drinking full fat milk/dairy. I've used lowfat but not no fat. Will have to just work through this.
Heard DS and she is fine. She is able to walk with her walker and has a meeting with home health care today at 1 pm. She says she is feeling stronger. They have told her to eat so she will be strong enough for her treatment.. I remember them telling me the same thing, but I didn't follow their suggestions because I was doing what I read I should do in order to do keto. I'm thinking keto isn't for me at this time.
Exercises are all done today. Now I need to get the ribs in the oven.

DH fries our bacon in a pan but i blot it between paper towels. I blot hamburgers too. I dont like anything greasy. I dont think you have to eat high fat if it doesnt suit you. I cant imagine putting fat in my coffee. I say eat what you like and what makes you feel good. We are all different. I like 2% milk although i drank skim for years. The only eggs i like are cooked at home. No one else can cook them the way i like them. Thats why i dont get them at Bob Evans. Just oatmeal because i dont make it at home, but i might when winter comes.
He did not win but didnt lose either. I think hes ready to go home or almost. I just read all night. Its crowded.
Im glad your sister is walking. Thats important. I rhink she will do well since she has you to talk to. You have been there.
Today has been pretty good although I did have potty issues which I do think was caused by the fat in the ribs. I won't buy them anymore. DH doesn't like it so and it isn't worth the potty issues. I think I will talk DH into drinking 2% milk again instead of the whole milk.
DS and I talked twice today and it is nice to have her to talk to. I have missed her. I go Monday, October 7th for lab work and she goes that day for her 1st treatment. She is moving around more now that she is home. I knew she would do better at home. She will have home health care come in too, but I forgot how often they are coming.
Only ate breakfast and dinner. Didn't get hungry for anything else.

I slept good, til 9:20. FbG was 93, but that's because I changed how I take my meds. Last night I ate half a HBE at bedtime. I still get spikes when I eat but it helps sleep if BS is low overnight, but it's scary
Scale is down, 182.0.. I really have to work on weigh. Basically, the book explains how insulin works and how carbs raise insulin and BG. Protein does too but not as much, fat does not So eat protein and green vegetables. Other veg are ok too but not potatoes . That will be hard since DH wants potatoes. I think I can eat small portions. Like Atkins Critical Carb, find my acceptable level. But his point was, CICO does not contribute to weight loss. If you cut calories your body will slow metabolism. Exercise is for fitness, not weight loss.He said low ketosis works. Doesn't have to be high. Cut carbs and you will be in ketosis. Ketosis is natural. Fasting is good.
Im so glad your sister is improving. I continue to pray for her and for you.

Weight was back down to 156.4 this morning. FBG was 125, but then I know why. It was poor choices yesterday.
DH has gone to the store to pick up prescriptions. I have asked him to get me some low sodium tomato juice for the lycopene. I also wanted him to pick up some mixed veggies and a package of meatballs. I will take those and add them to a serving of the tomato juice and make myself a soup to eat so I can get a balanced soup in the evening. I wasn't hungry this morning so I just had my collagen coffee and a couple of mandarin oranges. DH is getting McD's on the way home. So today will be McD's CB made on my thin round bread and the soup tonight. Calories will be between 1000 and 1200. I'm bored with food again and will have to purposely make myself eat some healthy food.
Got half exercises done for today. I don't usually exercise on weekends but didn't push it while I was sick this week. Still have cough and hope it will go away soon.

Lost my post again. I think there's something going on with my WIFI connection causing this.
What thin round bread are you using now Trish?
We went to Texas Roadhouse. It was crowded but I signed in online. We didn't wait long but didn't get to sit where we wanted.
We had part of a gift card left from before.
Now I'm reading Leptin Reset. Leptin is the hormone that tells you you are full and stop eating. You can get Leptin Resistance just like Insulin Resistance. Its interesting.
The bread I use is called 100% Whole Wheat Round made at our local store's bakery shop. It is flat bread.
My soup made with tomato juice was good. I seem to be craving tomato juice. That is good for me to drink because of the lycopene. It has been a good day.

Good sleep again last night but I had a disturbing dream. I don't know what causes dreams but mine are rarely "sweet."
Weight is up again. Inching up slowly. I don't know why. And blood sugar is also up. All good things must come to an end, I guess, plus its Sunday, and DH will probably want to go to the casino. If he does, it will definately be a bad day. Glad you had a good one,Trish.

Came back and my post was gone. But I was able to get it back this time. Its either my WIFI or my tablet causing this.
I don't know what we are having for dinner. All I have is chicken tenderloins and steak and DH had steak yesterday. I don't feel like cooking. DH is watching the Steeper games with his brother on the phone. He will want dinner when its over. But I don't want to cook.
DH buys tomato juice . I rarely drink it, but I eat a lot of tomatoes and dishes with tomatoes so I think I get lycopene in my diet. I like it and I would drink it but then DH wouldn't have much to drink himself. When I first met him he would make me drink tomato juice but I don't know why. I just drank it.
