Mad Congratulations on DD accomplishments. It won't take you long to get things back to normal for your dieting when things settle. You seem to have this down good with allowing yourself time with friends and entertainment and repairing the damage. As long as you can do that you will be fine.

Pipsicle Sorry about the hunger issues. I have to say that if I eat sweets that makes me hungry too. I finally had to learn that while I can allow for some of my favorites during holidays or special occasions that I when I do I have to be ready to suffer through the struggle of feeling like I'm starving. That is why I've learned to use some of the Atkin's type bars that I like as a treat because it keeps me from going on a sweet binge. I've actually gotten to the place where I can eat half of my favorite one and be satisfied and save it for later that day or even until the next day. But I have to also admit that wasn't even easy for me at first. It takes a while some times to retrain our bodies to do what we want them too. Just be patient and keep trying and you will find what works for you. I always felt like if I could just stay within my calorie count that I had a good start and it would eventually work. This is the first year that DH and I have not used Halloween as an excuse to bring candy in the house. In fact, neither of us even were tempted to buy it this year. It will happen for you.

Carol Sue I understand about the pie. I've actually eaten foods that I don't even like and didn't even realize it until I was through. That is how I started eating sweets years ago. In fact, when I think about it that is how I've learned to eat a lot of things I never cared about in my life. Strange how that worked when I look back over my life. I think my help this year is DH and DS. DS is going to her DD for Thanksgiving and she has already told her DD that she isn't going to eat a lot that day. The one thing she is looking forward to eating is her DSIL's banana pudding that he makes using her recipe she gave him last year. The only thing I want this year is dressing and I have almost decided to see if stove top is any good this year because I am not sure I want to even go through the trouble of making it for just me. DH doesn't like it.
Hope you're feeling okay and you get through this winter with no mishaps.

Well, I did it. I called the Bariatric Solutions this morning and made an appointment. They are filling up with lots of people and she couldn't get me in until Nov. 12. I think I need the B12 shots rather than just taking the liquid. I heard a nutritionist on line say that he didn't think you get enough other than in a shot. I got the girl I talked to in September who is going to be my advocate consultant. She gave me a lot of good info. Since I have never had the surgery, some things are a little different for me she said although I don't know what all that means except that where they are told not to drink cold drinks, I can have a diet drink. Those who have had the surgery can't drink carbonated drinks because it makes them feel full and bloated. I am allowed sweeteners and a lot of patients use Stevia. She told me that I am the same height as her so I am supposed to have a minimum of 76 grams of protein a day. They give a book to patients who have had the surgery which has a picture of a plate which has half the plate is protein, 1/4 vegetables and 1/4 carbs such as bread, potatoes, oats or fruits. So I will start using that as my guide for my plate. I actually had dropped from 218 in September when I called to 215.2 this morning. So I have lost. I just think I need more guidance.

I noticed on the email I got that consultation appointment will take 2 hrs as I will meet with a Nurse Practitioner, a nutritionist, and an exercise specialist. So I hopefully I can get some guidance as to where I am missing it.

FBG was 114 this morning so that is good. Haven't been hungry today so far. I ate 1/2 Atkins bar with a cup of coffee just so I could take my pills. The nice thing about taking the shots is that I won't have to eat when I'm not hungry to take pills. I can wait and take my vitamins when I do eat. I think it just might help me get my fasting hours longer so I can get into the autophagy stage easier and stay there a little longer.

Our temps are in the 50s most of the week and we are having T-storms which are supposed to start this afternoon and go through tomorrow. I'm cold. DH thinks if I can't get my doctor to check the right T for my thyroid that I need to see a specialist that knows how to check it better. Maybe my diet will help correct it. One can only hope.

Y'all have a nice day.

Still working on turning the trend (unsuccessfully so far). Had a late night snack yesterday. It was more than I wanted but I was still under calorie count. Today, sigh, was a different story. Over by about 200 calories. We got take out for dinner and I made a reasonable choice. However, we got a bonus french fry which I ate as if I haven't seen food for days. For the record, I got a salad for my side. In the spirit of total honest, said salad is sitting neglected in the fridge. I'd like to think it is just waiting for me for lunch tomorrow. I did go ice skating today though. Tomorrow will be better.

FBG 88 this am. That means I took the right amount of G for the food I ate. I've been running too high. I have to rein that in during the month of Nov as I get A1c checked in Dec. I won't be below 6 but don't want to be far from it. Not only do I have to have lower readings but I need to keep it lower between readings. That will be accomplished with fewer carbs and longer fasting windows. I can do it, but will I?

Pipsicle I can understand the salad being left over after eating. I have to be in the mood for salad but salad is very good for weight loss. French fries taste better.

Yrish, I am glad you are going to the center for the shots. I think the pills made a difference but you need that extra boost. I am looking forward to hearing how you do.

Still figuring out when I will fast. I think DD and my husband want to do birthday for me tonight before DD leaves on Friday, the day before my actual birthday.
We will give her birthday and Christmas gifts because she will be away. So no fasting today, because we can't celebrate without food. LOL
I am feeling heavier now, so it is getting more important. I am also not eating right, not LCHF enough. Last night I made pizza after buying frozen gluten free pizza at costco when I was there for other stuff. Now why did I buy that? I was hungry. Never go to Costco when hungry.
Then we went out for music and ended up having a dessert crepe. (the place with the sing-around is a crepe restaurant). Overall I didn't eat a lot yesterday, but almost nothing would have been on plan.
SO my goal today will be to eat on plan, and make the cake that is LCHF and ok for that.
Trish, once you are lined up with your B12 shots, do you have to go there all the time? Is there not a closer option? When my naturopath recommended shots for me, I had the first there, then took the B12 with me, kept it in the fridge, and would get a nurse or one of my midwife coworkers to give me the shot instead of going back to the naturopath. Is there a neighbour or relative that could give the shot without you having to go so far? Perhaps there is other support for your weight loss journey there.
Pipsicle and Carol, big hellos and hope you also are able to manage the next little while and be on track.
Blessings for the day

Pipsicle So sorry you are having such a struggle. However, I am glad to see you are seeing what you did right. Getting to ice skate is a good. Always look at the good things you do accomplish each day. I think it would be good if we would do our diets like we do when we make a list of things to do each day. Check off what we did and just plan to do or do better tomorrow what we missed today. I wish I had thought of that before. You are on track so good for you.

Carol Sue Thanks for the encouragement. I am getting excited about doing the shots and getting some guidance as I go. I have changed some things already in my daily plan according to what they have told me so far and I told DS today that I could probably lose weight without the shots just with these changes.

Fatmad DH could give me the shots if I had ordered the B12, but I don't this this place would give me the shots to take them at home. It is 30 minutes from me and there is a good Walmart that I like better for shopping over there and I go right by Daddy's Nursing Home so I will just work out shopping or going to see him if my appointment is when I could go see him. Some months will be once a week and some months could be only 2 or 3x a month. I just decided that it is worth taking the time to go for what I will be getting out of it.

I spent most of yesterday and today trying to get on the portal on their website and my computer would not allow me to go there. I have no idea what was wrong. I finally found one person in their office who could help me get online with them then I spent the rest of the morning filling out 10 pages of online questions. They know more about my medical history etc now than my own doctor probably does. But I'm in the system now.

I am on their diet now. I decided to get a good start on the plan before I go there. The diet is low fat, low carb, high protein plan and I will meet with a dietitian to help guide me. I will have an exercise consultant to help me work out an exercise plan that I can follow. I actually set some goals for exercise in my paper work today. So this is a very thorough plan.

DS lost 2 more lbs. She has actually lost 44 lbs. I thought she was closer to 50 than she is. She is really a "star" at the center because she is doing so well. They are using her as an example to the new people. She and I are very excited for her and now we are excited that we both are going to be doing this together.
Weigh was 214.8 this morning and FBG 134. Not sure why the 134 but was 106 before lunch. I'm trying to keep this with an 8 or 9 hr eating window so still doing IF with all of this. Behind on exercise on bike because of being online getting all this set up for 2 days so hope to get at least 2 more days done this week so I will at least have my 3 days minimum.

Have a good evening everybody.

Trish, it is possible that you could lose the weight without the shots but it's also possible that knowing you have made this commitment will make you stick to it better. Whatever it takes. I never remember to take my B12 or other vitamins. My B12 is a sublingual tablet that dissolves under the tongue. I also have a multi and zinc. They can't help.you if you don't take them.

Mad, I have confidence that you will not allow your weight to get out of hand.

Carol Sue I think you are right. I take a liquid sublingual B12 and sometimes I can't remember if I took it or not. Plus I also have to eat something to take the 6 pills that I take but I figure when I take the shot that I will have more leeway on that. There are mornings I don't want breakfast but eat to take the pills. The shots makes it easier for DS to eat only when she is hungry. There are mornings when she either eats no breakfast or only has a slice of Sara Lee MG 45 calorie bread with peanut butter on it for breakfast. I feel like I will have the same options on the shots. I notice you have progressed to that freedom of choice too and I would like to have that freedom again too.

Sigh- I'm going from bad to worse. My frustration is showing up in my eating. Tomorrow will be better...

I'm going ice skating again. Also, I am trying to figure out a way to get this fatigue to work in my favor. I'm thinking I can either do a longer fast or do OMAD.

FBG 128 and weight this morning 213.8. Down 1.2 lbs this month. Last month I lost 1.8 so I've lost 3 lbs in 2 months which I am choosing to be happy that I did have a loss and not a gain. I am on the diet I got from DS that the bariatric clinic gave her. Breakfast this morning was my favorite homemade low carb version of Whataburger's taquito. My local store makes a low carb 4 net carb whole wheat tortilla which I used to with 1 scrambled egg, 1 slice bacon and a pinch of mozzarella cheese for flavor. I had that with a cup of coffee. We will have a homemade personal pizza made on a whole wheat dough. I will add a lot of veggies on mine and we will have a salad on the side. I am really enjoying this new plan. I've also done my 2 miles on my bike today as well.

Pipscile I went through what you are for so very long. Just keep doing what you know to do. You will have good days and bad but if you keep trying eventually you will have more good days than bad. Also, if your diet isn't working for you, may I ask are you sure it is the right diet for you? There are a lot of diets out there. I'm learning that just because something works for someone else doesn't mean it works for me. I had a doctor actually as me one time "Have you ever had a diet that actually worked for you"? I told him "Yes, but I got off of it because someone said it wasn't good for me"? He said, "If it worked, get back on it". I wish I had listened to him. Just a thought. My doctor in SC told me "Any diet will work if you can find one you can live with". Maybe you haven't found the one that is right for you yet. I pray you find yours.

Carol Sue and Mad Hope things are going well for y'all today.

Have a good day everybody.

Happy Halloween!

I slept last night but feel very tired today. I made and ate meat loaf for dinner then went in for nap. I might be coming down with a cold or something.

I agree with Trish that the best weight loss plan is one you will stick with long term but right now I am not able to do that. I see my errors when I make them but have to stop making them in the first place. I don't follow a particular plan. My goal is to keep carbs low without tracking any particular number. I try to eat only when truly hungry and not after dinner. I have been eating too many carbs and snacking in the evening. So I know the changes that need to be made its making them that is the problem. This is the worst I've been in a while.

Our trick or treat is tomorrow because of heavy rain today but we get very few kids. Mostly senior citizens in our neighborhood.

Eating too much candy today. Not sure if I will be able to fast tomorrow if I have had a high carb day today, but we will see. If not I will do LCHF.
The kids have almost cleaned us out of candy, hope for a couple more so we won't have any left.
The horrible rain predicted was lighter than expected and more kids came than we expected.

Oldest DD leave in the morning, for further adventures, home in 3 months if I'm lucky!.
have a Happy Hallowe'en friends

This is normally casino day but I decided I wasn't going, period. DH never mentioned it. Then he came ou!t and saw me making meat loaf so I guess he knew. Now I have to get through Saturday. If I want a week off occasionally I guess I will just have to be mean.

Hurray! Weathered Halloween with a nice little calorie deficit. Really hoping I get a little grace on the scale with a dip (admittedly undeserved) in my favor so I can count a loss for the month. Missed ice skating today because I stayed at work to finish something. It was all for not as it was deemed not acceptable (despite pre-clearance). I think the person is just overwhelmed. I will go ice skating tomorrow to make up for it.

OK, Post Hallowe'en weight is 157. Tomorrow is my birthday, but we went out Wednesday night for that. We have no plans until Sunday now.
So I am going to fast today.
Oldest DD leaves today for 3 months of holiday and travel. I am having a little cry. A massage later.
So getting my health and life back on track and goal is to be back at 150 by the end of November.

Pipsicle: keep the focus on you and your health and you can't go wrong.
Carol: enjoy the week off and relax and enjoy.

Best wishes for TGIF everyone

FBG 85. Weight 194. Yikes! I don't know what's going on there. I'd better do some daily weighing to get that under control. I'm in shock but need to be honest with myself. I know I have not been as diligent because I rarely feel hungry. That is really the key for me.
