Our sewer line is clogged again. No bathroom. No shower. No laundry. The water just comes up.over the cellar and garage floor. It's Saturday. I left a message with the plumber. No call back. What next!!!
Carol- Sorry to hear about your plumbing and other woes!
Super quick flyby- I have a pending loss of 3 pounds to confirm next week. Going to Disneyland today for a few days so I hope I can keep it off while having fun.
Mad Glad your visit with your cousin went well and I know it is comforting to her to know you are willing to be there to help her and family through to the end. I had a RN cousin who was there with us with Mama at the end. I have always been so grateful for her loving help. She was there the day Mama passed away showing me how to feed her and help get her to swallow food. She was our hospice. I pray the chemo helps your cousin and you can keep her longer with a quality life. I've seen people have treatments that worked and they are still living many years later and I've seen others who didn't live longer. So hopefully she will be one of those who have the successful treatment.
Pipsicle Congratulations on the 3 lb loss and I have been to Disneyland as a teen and with all that walking you'll be doing you should have no problem keeping them off and maybe lose some more. Have fun.
Carol Sue I am so sorry about the sewer issues. Are they going to get it working today? Weekend plumbing can be expensive, but if it is on the cities side, it may take longer to get it fixed.
Well, I lost 4.8 lbs this week and 2.8 is since Tuesday when I got the shot. I cried when I told DS because it has been so long since I have been able to lose this much even in a month not to mention a week. New weight is 210.4. FBG was 142. Not really sure why that is happening. I think it is because eating has been irregular this week and I will be more careful this week. However, I haven't had more than 1300 calories on any day since the shot. I wasn't tracking before so don't know about that. So I assume it is either what I eat for evening snack when I'm hungry or it is just the fact that the shot is causing the cells to release the fat and it is turning to glucose to flush it out of my body. I am staying on top of drinking fluids especially the 64 oz of water because I do pee a lot. I drink the Zero Power Aid to replace any electrolytes etc that I might be losing by peeing so much.
I'm going to start working at eating smaller meals and I boiled some eggs to eat 1 in the evening if I get hungry instead of beef jerky stick.
Y'all have a great day and I hope you get your sewer fixed Carol Sue.
Carol Sue So glad you got the sewer fixed. It would be terrible to have to go all weekend without it fixed.
Eating today has been good. DH wanted to get food from Arby's so I went on line and looked at menu with nutrition info and found that they had a King's Hawaiian Roast Beef and Cheese Slider that has 210 calories. We got them and brought them home and I cut up 2 small tomatoes and put it on 1 romaine lettuce leaf and had half a serving of the no grain chips I bought a while back and ate the slider with only half the bread. By taking half the bun off the calorie count became 175. My total calories for today is 1049 I think it was. I finished my 8 1/2 hr eating window with 2 boiled eggs and 2 slices of Canadian bacon to get my calories up to 1000 and to get my protein in too.
I'm not trying to follow all their rules. I am going to do Intermittent Fasting with this. I want the benefits of it plus my body to be able to have the rest it gets from the fasting hours and I rest better when my belly isn't so full. I got 20 minutes of exercise on the bike and I think I'm going to shake things up and work at increasing that to 25 next weak and see if I can work in some other exercises as well. I have to look at my DVDs and see what I have that I might want to do.
Had a great visit with Daddy. We knew DS and BIL were going to come too so we went down to the lobby so we could all sit there to visit when they got there. DS is using her walker now instead of her cart so that is a real nice improvement since she lost her 46+ lbs. When we were leaving Baby sister and BIL were coming in to see Daddy so we all visited a little longer. Daddy cried and said "My 3 daughters. My 3 Lissie Grace's". That is my Mama's name. I told Baby sister that we were not doing anything Thanksgiving because DS is going to her daughters for the weekend. I thought she was going to be with her kids, but she said they weren't doing anything either for the holidays. She said she sees them all the time. I had decided that I would get a small ham for Christmas and it would be here, BIL and DH and me for Christmas dinner. So it was decided that Baby sister and her DH would come too. So we plan to have dinner at our house and then take a plate to Daddy and visit with him that day.
Another exciting piece of news. I went in and talked to the therapist that was working and told him about Daddy standing on the scale at CHF which we didn't know he could do. I asked if there was any way he could get therapy again. He didn't really work there regularly and told me who to call Monday. He said that when they have a change in what they can do that they usually can qualify for therapy. We are hoping that he will be able to work toward using a walker. However, it would just be nice if he could get in and out of the car without anyone having to lift him so we can take him places. So today turned out to be a good day all the way around.
Good night everyone. Hope everybody has a good nights sleep.
Trish, I really do hope they get get therapy for your Dad, again. That would be great. I'm also happy that he got to have his 3 girls all with him again.
So far the only thing I learned about higher FBG is that your body releases glucose in the morning to give you energy to start the day, and as a diabetic, your insulin is slow to react to bring it down. Still checking. I could check about the shot if I knew what was in it besides the B12.
Trish, I Googled "Where does fat go when we lose it.". I got a lot of sites that said it is released as carbon dioxide and water meaning it is released in our breath and urine. But that doesn't explain why FBG goes up. Googling " Why does FBG go up when we diet" didn't give a definitive answer. Here's what I think. When we first start losing weight we lose a lot of water. That increases the concentration of our blood and therefore increases the ratio of blood sugar. I think this will be temporary, because we lose a lot of water when we first start losing weight and that levels off gradually after a while. I don't think your FBG is something you need to worry about as long as your A1c remains low. Losing weight is always going to improve blood sugar readings when it's all said and done. And I'm referring to type 2. Type 1 is different.
Once again, this is just my uneducated opinion derived from research on the internet. I find this stuff very interesting. The only problem is they sometime use terminology that I don't understand because I am not educated in this field.
Most people don't care about this. We just want to see the number go down on the scale. Those who do not test blood sugar are not aware of those fluctuations.
Another topic that I think is so interesting. My friend who lost all that weight had an A1c that gradually went up to 8 but she refused to take meds. Instead she ate low carb and walked daily. She lost around 40 lbs and her A1c dropped to 6.1. She gets her A1c checked 4 times a year and gets an annual diabetic eye exam. She recently got a letter from her insurance stating that they are paying for diabetic related testing but noticed that she is not taking any diabetic meds. I'm wondering if they do not consider her to be diabetic if not taking meds, and they will not pay for her testing. This is interesting because you also don't take diabetes meds although you have taken them in the past. Do they not realize that blood sugar can be controlled with diet and exercise?
I have questions about your sister. What type of cart did she use before she started losing weight and using a walker instead? Does she use a standard walker or one with a seat? Some day soon she might not need it! Does she have diabetes? Some people don't develop diabetes in spite of their weight.
FBG 115 and weight 209.6. YAY!!! Next goal is Onederland. Hopefully by the time I see my Primary doctor I will be under 200 or at least close to it.
Carol Sue Thanks for checking that out for me. That is good to know. I notice that I pee a lot so I'm glad we are allowed to have the Zero Power Aid drink to keep my electrolyte levels up. That is why they s tress 64 oz of water. I looked up info on thyroid symptoms for women. I was amazed to see that it says that at least 15 million Americans have undiagnosed thyroid disease which is mostly subclinical hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid and many of these people are women. I don't have all the symptoms but I do have a whole lot of them. This being tired for no reason and also being so cold all the time. Even the joint and muscle pain I experience some times can be a symptom too. So I look forward to seeing what the lab work reveals.
Nothing much going on today. Just watching the Cowboys play and hoping they win, I of course.
Had a nice conversation with Daddy. He and I used to talk about an hour or more once a week when I lived in SC and I notice there are times now that he wants to talk although there are days it is more like "Hello, I'm here. I'm alright" and he doesn't really want to talk. Today he talked for an hour and twenty minutes. Beginning to feel more and more comfortable telling me what he is feeling. He is missing Mama more and more and says only half of him is living here. I remember when DH Mother did that with us telling us she wanted to go be Jesus and DH DD. She missed DH Dad more and more the last year she lived and it was worse the closer to the time for her to leave us. I would just like to help him have a better quality of life before he leaves us. At his age, we can't hold on to him forever, so we just cherish every moment we still have him and will celebrate his life when the time comes.
Hope everybody has a nice weekend.
Look at you go, Trish! Would you ever have imagined? Doesn't it make you wonder why you didn't do this a long time ago? You will be starting 2020 in Onederland, for sure! Maybe even Christmas.
Hi everyone: Had a very busy weekend from the social point of view, and next weekend too. But this week is quieter. I only have a few things on the calendar to do. So its a good week to plan walking and such.
I am really impressed with the losses Trish. Are other things good like sleep and energy? I also hope you can get therapy for your father to walk even a few steps at times makes life easier.
Pipsicle, is this loss from the fasting ? I really hope things keep going for you as well.
Carol: I wonder if there is an issue with your septic system, roots growing into the lines etc. You need to know if you are doing something to cause it or if its time for a full service check.
Have not weighed today, ate daily all weekend so I am going to fast today and see how things go. I will plan a "Keto" eating week if possible.
Mad, the sewage company is in the process of checking all the sewers in the township. Checking with cameras, doing dye
tests. Ours was checked a couple months ago and passed. No roots. I don't know.
FBG was 118 this morning. Weight up a lb 210.6, but that isn't unusual for me so could mean another loss on the way. I
Mad Yes sleep is better, Energy may be a little better but not there yet. I suspect the thyroid may be the hold up on that. I read up on thyroid and was amazed that it affects everything. So I do pray they get this corrected for me. I took a test and it showed it moderate to severe. However, it showed that the way I'm eating will correct it eventually. I guess that is why I've experienced a lot of what I experience off and on. I think that my low carb and even when I was doing WW at one time some of those things seemed to improve. It helps to understand why I feel like I do sometimes. I have wondered why I didn't feel right about some things and why some things irritate me or I've lost interest in important things. Almost like a personality change to some extent. We also looked up hyper for DH and now we understand why he experiences some of what he does. I was surprised to see that 15 Million people suffer from thyroid misdiagnosis because doctors do not thoroughly check it. Strange isn't it? As much as the pharmacueticals want to push meds, you would think they would push that too. Oh well.
Couldn't talk to the head therapist today because she is out but talked to another therapist and they have the paper work in trying to get Daddy back in to therapy now. So it is in the works.
I'm working on making healthier eating choices today. We will have cod fish fillets today. I am disappointed in the cod fish that Sam's club offered this time. I hope they go back to the others. These are called portions and thinner. I like the thicker ones we used to get. I found a package of asparagus tips in the freezer when looking for the fish so am going to work those into my eating plan today.
Carol Sue I hope you find out what is causing your sewer issues. Of course the ideal thing is for it to be fixed and no more problems.
You know I was thinking about your DH and the casino. I'm not sure he is an addict as much as he just enjoying playing. As long as he does it responsibly and doesn't take it from things you need or put you in financial bind, I think it is just entertainment for him. I'm not sure I would worry about it. Once a week isn't a bad thing. JMHO.
Pipsicle Hope you are having fun on trip to Disneyland and have a good week.
FBG was 80. I don't know if that was because I got up earlier than usual. DH has a Dr appointment at 9:30 and I want the time to relax with my coffee. He wanted to cancel his appointment with the hip doctor but I told him they will probably stay to be sure it healed properly.
I think I did better with for yesterday. I was listening to a podcast by Dr Cywes and want to listen to more of them. He tells it like he is. He himself lost 90 lbs with low carb and IF. He regained 30 lbs twice so he talks from experience. He is a bariatric surgeon but says most can lose without the surgery. The surgery should be a last resort. If you can't lose without the surgery then the surgery will not be successful. When he does do surgery he will only do the balloon or the sleeve.
Trish did you take an online test for thyroid? My thyroid went underactive once and I was out on meds but it went back to normal and I stopped the meds. He did not do a complete thyroid panel but I don't have symptoms anymore. My thyroid went overactive once too and I lost a lot of weight but it went back to normal on its own then, too. I don't know what caused that.
Weight up a bit this morning, at 153 after a fast. I expected it as I overate on the weekend and had some alcohol and desserts too.
I was planning to eat today, but not sure now. I may have a smoothie though.
Mouth is very sore. Yesterday was first step for the veneers for my front teeth. They abrade the teeth and put temporary ones on, then I will get the permanent ones in a couple of weeks, But I had to get freezing for the procedure. I don't generally get freezing, I am quite sensitive to it, and it makes me feel yucky for a day or two. I also feel "bruised" from the needles. I tried without the freezing but it IS needed.
So my mouth is generally sore and bruised feeling and i feel kinda crummy. Blood pressure was lowish last night, so probably still low. I will go for a walk with DH this morning and see how I feel. Prolonging the fast is no big deal if I decide not to eat.
Carol: I think you need to hear from the plumber about the sewage blockage. If its something inside or something you or DH are doing, you need to know to prevent the cost of emergency calls! Hope you find the answer.
Trish: you overall loss is so great, hope you continue doing so well.
Feeling blah this morning. I think it is because I overate for me yesterday. Weight shows it too as it was 211.8 this morning. Don't know why I was so hungry all day yesterday and just couldn't get satisfied. I don't like the brand of cod fish I got at Sam's this time and I belched it all evening. FBG was 117 so that is good.
I've pretty much decided that the low fat part of the diet is not a good thing for me maybe because I have not done low fat in year. I will finish using the FF yogurt I bought and thenl go back to using the one I make. Also the problem could be that the shot is wearing off since I got it a week ago today and have had only one shot. I will get a shot tomorrow and then won't get another one until December 10th which will be the only one I get until January.. Will have to use the pills the weeks I'm not getting the shot. FBG was 117, so that is good.
I have been tracking on MFP everyday so that is helping me to know how much I'm eating. I had too much sodium a couple of days and most days my calories have been 1200 or less. But the 2 days of weight up, makes me feel I need to look what I'm doing. I've tried following their diet plan to some degree, but I can't eat all the food they say eat. And something I'm eating is making me hungry. I've decided to go back to my 2MAD and 1 snack as needed. Like Mad said, I did really good when I did that and I am going to continue using low carb/IF. I just think that is the best way to do this for me.
Carol Sue I was glad to learn that if I eat to correct blood sugar that the thyroid will naturally be corrected too. So if I don't get thyroid meds, it is no big deal accept that I will have to just struggle the feelings until it does improve. I would much rather do things naturally than with meds any way because there are no side effects with natural.
80 is a very good FBG. I don't think I ever see my low because I sleep later now than years ago. I hope your DH goes for his appointment and perhaps they will even release him. When I was younger, I wasn't good at going for follow ups until released, but now that I'm older, I feel it is important.
Mad I hope your mouth isn't sore for too long and you will feel better soon.
