Trish we hate to have something delivered when we are not home. You should be able to track them on Amazon's website. Most of my stuff comes before they say it will.
well, its a heck of a way to get below 150. I was a little nauseous this morning but we went to market anyhow and got some food for tomorrow, since I was planning on fasting today. I took some Gravol and felt better except for sleepy, but then the runs started. After a few bouts things settled for the evening, before bed I was 149, I expect I would be lower in the morning, but I am going to have some yoghurt.
I am not sure what is up. Sometimes I get lose BMs with fasting, but I would not have even been at the point to count as fasting, it was only 12 hours since my last meal, because I ate late last night. The pizza we made is the GF one from Costco that has not bothered me before, and we did our own toppings, so I am pretty sure I was not glutened . And sometimes people just have digestive issues.
In any case, hope today will be better.

I had to google Gravol. For nausea. I never heard of it before. I don't get nausea but do take Immodium when I get diarrhea. I rarely get it now, but I'm thinking that is part of why my weight is up. I don't know why it went away. I don't really believe the coconut macaroon theory but who knows. I'm glad you got below 150 and hope you feel better.
I am up at 5am. I couldn't sleep. I took tart cherry and also Tylenol but I drank a cola last night that had caffeine, so the caffeine overrode the sleep aids. I might need a nap today.
I am reading another book. Crack The Fat Loss Code. I saw it discussed somewhere and got it from the library. I read a couple chapters then looked to see when it was written, because she is of the 6 small meals a day belief. 2008. So it is an older book. But I will read some more to see what she has to say. She might have some tips of interest to me but I won't do 6 meals. I'm glad I didn't spend money for the book. I like reading these books for inspiration but realize I need to put it into action. One thing she said that rings true. Your body does not want you to diet and will fight you every step of the way. Your body wants nutrients and will cause hunger and cravings until it gets what it needs. This is her reasoning for the 6 small meals.
So here I sit, watching an early morning cooking show! LOL. Just can't get away from food!

Ok. This book is carb cycling. The first week (7 days) is comparable to Atkins induction. <20 gm carb per day. This is to clear the body of glycogen stores. Then you start to cycle. You have basic days, carb up days and carb down days. There are accepted food lists you must follow even on basic days and carbs are still limited even on basic and carb up days. Very regimented. After 4 weeks you switch to a different pattern for weeks 5-6 then to maintenance weeks 7-8, still using regimented food lists. I guess if you have more weight to lose you stay in the third pattern before switching to maintenance. You can have 4-6 meals per day. No less than 4, no snacks but the meals are small and some could be considered snacks. Every meal contains protein in small amoujts. Certain vegetables. This would probably work. The purpose is to keep switching eating patterns so your body does not adapt. But it would be hard to follow if other people were involved. It's a good idea but not sustainable in my opinion. I'm about halfway through the book and will not finish it. There are some good recipe ideas. One is an omlet type meal with 1 egg and 3 whites with an ounce of meat and a sprinkle of cheese. Another is oatmeal with a scoop of protein powder mixed in. Just not for me.
I just saw that the author died at age 44. I don't see anything about the diet that would have been the cause.

Mad Sorry you had potty issues, but glad you are better today. Weight loss is a nice reward although tough way to get it.
Carol Sue I always think of DH Mother telling me that Dolly Parton said she never lost weight until she went to 6 mini meals a day. However, I find it difficult to do that because I don't want to think about food that much. I have a hard enough time trying to decide want I want to cook for one meal. The diet I got from DS that the bariatric clinic gives out is 3 meals and 3 snacks. I believe the theory of so many meals and snacks is to keep the blood sugar constant and SC doctor said it is so you don't get hungry. Strange how we have been conditioned to fear hunger. I tried carb cycling once but it is hard to do when cooking for someone else. If I cook it for DH, I want to eat it too. That is why it was so easy to get off of Atkins. Plus buying 2 different kinds of foods for 2 different diets isn't cheap.
We are supposed to have rain tomorrow and then freezing that night. I hope it doesn't happen or I won't be able to go for my appointment at the clinic because my appointment is at 9:30am and there will be ice on the highways. I don't mind the cold with wind chills in the teens or 20s but I don't drive on ice.
FBG and weigh up a tad but I'm sure that was the Long John Silvers fish. At least I know why.
I had a great visit with Daddy yesterday and he actually talked to me on the phone for almost an hour this morning. He is forgetting more and more and asks the same questions. I finally talked to him about how he forgets things because I know it bothers him although he tries to cover it. I told him not to worry about it and to feel free to ask me. I told him some of the things like what day it is happens to be normal. I hope it helps him to feel less pressure. I don't really know.
Mad- 149! Finally! I hope it is here to stay after the GI issues are resolved. Carol- That plan sounds complicated. Food is everywhere isn't it?! Glad your gas issue was sorted out! Patty- Fingers crossed the freezing rain stays away so you can make it to your appointment
So no good news today as the scale is saying I'm up two pounds. I understand why (candy) so I don't feel upset about it. BP and FBS are still in the respective "pre" ranges. I have added more detail to my daydream plan. If I can manage to do it, it would give me a 48 hour fast and a 38 hour fast each week. Last night, I did not sleep well at all. I even took a new supplement that was suppose to help me sleep. I kept waking up last night mentally awake but utterly exhausted. This morning I have dark circles under my eyes, am bloated and very tired. I don't think I will try that supplement again. It is too bad since I had high hopes for it. The company that makes it makes another supplement that has been really useful to me. I think if I could improve my sleep quality, I would be more successful at getting this weigh off.
Last week I was on target for exercise; I went skating twice, to the rec center three times and a walk one day. My house is a disaster though. Apparently, I use my house cleaning energy to exercise. Eating (as usual) was another story. Overeating by a little- not a lot and it is mostly related to easy access for leftover Halloween candy. I was able to go for a massage last week too. I'd like to do that regularly because it helps me release tension I hold in my body. I still want to set up appointments for Pilates. My body tolerates Pilates well and helps me get stronger. Crossed over another big hurdle too. I made an appointment with my endocrinologist. Interestingly, he no longer takes insurance. More importantly, I was able to get my thyroid medicine refilled. Now I have a hard deadline for pulling my numbers in-line. My appointment is the first week in January (more motivation for my daydream plan).
This week is will be pretty typical. However next weekend and into the following week, I am taking my daughter to Disneyland! The week after that there is my father's 80th birthday party and Thanksgiving. I have a lot of unresolved feelings from childhood so those events will be stressful for me. This will be the first Thanksgiving my husband and daughter will spend with my side of the family. Long story short, my goal is to still check in here and there but if I don't no need to worry.

Pipsicle I cannot imagine a doctor not accepting insurance unless he is the only endocrinologist around. Will you be able to submit the bill for reimbursement? I hope so. You are planning some extended fasts! Good for you. I have also been having some fun with candy, too, but now all that's left is Kit Kat. Not a favorite.
Trish, I hope you don't have to cancel your appointment after waiting all that time. But it's not worth taking a chance. We are getting 1-2 inches of snow Monday night into Tuesday and we have to take the dog for a haircut at 9:30. It's only 1.5 miles away so that's not too bad. DH will drive. I'm just nervous after him falling last year. Mostly we just stay home in bad weather. I hate when we have appointments.
I no longer fear hunger, I embrace it as long as it is not sick hunger. I used to eat just in case I wasn't going to have food available. Now I like to get that hunger in the morning and see how long I can go before I eat.
I did well with food today. Eggs and bacon. Banana. Hot sausage. 7 hour eating window. Trying very hard not to eat now. I'm tired from lack of sleep last night so hope I sleep tonight and everyone else does, too!

Good morning. DH is out of milk so we have to run to the store before the had weather comes in. Everyone else will probably be there too.
I think I slept very good and feel rested. Will have to check my Fitbit and see what it says. Saturday it was less than 4 hours. I am happy with 7.
BBL
I'm surprised the store wasn't crowded. We went to Wal-Mart for milk and bread and spent $57. DH bought a 5 gallon bottle of oil for the car and I bought a $10 bottle of Pepcid. They were out of the small ones. These will last me a year! Now I have 3 1/2 dozen eggs and a package of bacon so I'm all set for whatever Mother Nature has to offer.
They had the double fiber bread so I bought a loaf for the freezer. I still have my other bread. This is 50 calories and 7 net carbs and the slices are bigger so I will only need 1 slice with my eggs. If I don't like it I just won't buy it again. You don't know until you try. I don't usually have toast with scrambled eggs, just with runny yolks.
Lots of things to do today. Good thing I have lots of energy.
I'm glad to hear you had a good talk with your Dad, Trish. Remember that the next time he has a bad day. I can never Remember what day it is. D H has a big calendar and puts an X on each day. That only works when you remember to put the X.
Last edited by Wannabehealthy; 11-11-2019 at 11:46 AM.
Carol Sue I would probably forget to mark an x on the calendar myself. DH#2's grandmother used mark an x on the calendar to count the days until he would be coming home on leave when he was in the Army.
I was up all night with an upset stomach and aches all over and nauseous with indigestion type feelings. DS says she thinks she had a virus and gave it to me. We are hoping we will feel better so we can go get our shots tomorrow and also hoping for no rain or snow or ice on the ground.
BBL if I feel like it. Not eating anything but broth or soup today.

Trish, I forgot that I got up in the middle of the night with nausea, too! I thought it was a blood sugar issue but I tested and it was 90. After i went to the bathroom I felt better and fell back to sleep. And Mad had nausea recently, too. I didn't have the aches. I hope you feel better.
I hope the roads are ok tomorrow for you to get your shot, and also for me to get my dog groomed. DH says he is not worried about snow.
I got a lot done today. Phone calls. I requested info for 2 Medicare supplements so I can compare them and make a choice for us for next year. I applied for and received a new credit card that had a good introductory offer. A couple days ago I got a call about the heart procedure I need. I called the woman back and discussed it with her. Then I got bills ready to be paid and will pay them tomorrow after the dogs haircut. It makes me feel good when I get things done.
Starting a longer fast. I'm pretty sure I can make it to at least 24 hours and possibly 36 hours. This is a 'supported' fast so I can have other things besides water. However, I have to be careful not to tell myself I am doing this....

Good for you, Pipsicle! You can do this!
We only got a dusting of snow on the grass but it's very cold. 19 degrees F. I didn't sleep well again last night. Woke up around 4 then tossed and turned. I guess I'm going to sleep every other night.
Got up at 6:45 am and dressed. Stuffy nose but no upset tummy so I believe whatever was going on yesterday is over. Beautiful sunshiny day but 26 degrees and north wind blowing but no ice here so I'm good to go for my appointment. I went to bed at 10:30 last night and woke up 2 times to go to pee but otherwise slept like a baby. So that was nice for a change. DH and I are going to go to Sam's and maybe Walmart this afternoon. However, I may have time between appointment and shopping to check in and let y'all know about my appointment.
Have a good day and I'll BBL OH FBG 110 and weight back down to 213.2 but then I ate practically nothing yesterday.

Trish, I'm glad you got to go for your appointment. I can't wait to hear how it went. We just got home from the dog grooming. It only took about 1 hour including bath and drying. He was much better behaved so he must be getting used to it, finally.
Hi everyone: weight 154 this morning. I think I was pretty profoundly dehydrated with that weight below 150. After I weight that, on Saturday night, I had some tea and ate some yoghurt with berries on the theory that I was clearing out my whole microbiome with the emptying of my whole gut.
I fasted yesterday and also finally got my blood work done.
A1C down a little, just 0.1 lower, but I will take it. I have not been using any artificial sweeteners and have been using small amounts of sugar during this time, so I will assume that is reflected there. Also, Hallowe'en candy, and the baked goods at and since my birthday (leftovers) so I will not complain.
My B12 is high, and given that metformin may lower it, I may give up the B complex supplement for a while.
My eGFR is slightly down as well. This is a reflection of kidney function, which may also explain the high B12.
I may start stinging nettle tea if it isn't too disgusting to drink to try to heal the kidneys. It is a benign herb in normal doses, so I feel safe doing that until I see my doc again.
Its a winter wonderland here with about 5 inches of snow now. Today is also bright and sunny and quite cold -7C so about 12 degrees below freezing to you Americans.
Pipsicle, good for you for starting the next phase and doing extended fasts. You WILL feel hunger. It's ok. Drink lots of water, including sparkling water. Plain tea is also ok, but no juices. If you feel you can't make it, put a few grains of salt under your tongue, or have a little swig of pickle juice (yes that is what I said). These are tried and true tricks from the fasting sights and really do help.
As a last resort, a bit of fat, so a small spoonful of butter! or a swig of heavy cream (whipping cream) or cream in a cup of tea or coffee.
You may actually find you have more energy with fasting, its quite common.
Hope everyone else is doing ok with any crazy weather patterns. DH and I like winter so we are happy with the snow and have snow tires on already so feel comfy with driving etc.
Have a good day.
