JocelynMarie: Viruses definitely can raise blood sugar, and often the meds we take, like tylenol cold pills, cough syrups, etc add to it. The decongestants and sugars in some will make a huge difference.
As to your period, I would suggest monitoring sugars a bit and see what you think. DO you take advil, especially with a coating for discomfort with your periods. Those coatings often have sugar in them. But we often need something to help. Check with your pharmacist about the medications. They also have starch fillers, adding to your carb counts.

I haven't been eating my yogurt fast enough and it went bad. Mold, so I had to throw it out. I was going to stop buying it but I missed it. When I went to the store they were out of the Cabot Greek that I like so I bought a store brand. I tasted it today and it's awful! It doesn't taste like its bad, but I'm throwing it out and going back to see if they got in more Cabot. I hate to throw out so much food but I'm afraid something could be wrong with it. I don't want to get sick.

Carol Sue So sorry you couldn't get the yogurt that you wanted and got bad to replace it. I hope you will be able to get the Cabot tomorrow.
I was able to take 2 pills twice today. No problems so far and I think I am having no problems so far. I will take 2 pills twice a day tomorrow too and then Friday I will do the 3x. If it goes well the weekend when I don't go anywhere then I will take the 6 pills each day. I changed my eating window to 10 am to 6 pm like I did in SC. So I will be doing the 8:16 IF.

FBG was 96 this AM.
I'm glad you are doing well taking the pills and hope it continues. I wonder how long it will take to see if you are going to lose weight from it. Also, I wonder if it's a placebo effect. Maybe taking the pills makes you stick to the diet better. Either way, I hope you get the results you want with no side effects.
I am also curious to see the results of Mad's b12 test. My DIL has to take B12 shots because she had WlS. It is not making her lose weight but it does not have the other ingredients. She lost weight after her surgery but gained it back after she married my BIL.

We are going to the casino today. Surprised? LOL Last week, after we went, I got DH to agree to going twice a month instead of every week. He will promise anything, but rarely follows through. After he said he wanted to go today I said "I thought you said we would go twice a month," and he replied, "Starting next week." LOL Next week it will be a different excuse. One good thing about this, he will not spend money that we need for bills, and I can get him to do just about anything in exchange for going to the casino.
I have coin jars I put my coins in, one for silver and one for pennies. The silver one was up to $65 so I took it to Coinstar and bought an Amazon Gift Card. If you buy a gift card they do not deduct the fee. Also, you have to make sure the machine offers Amazon cards. Not all of them do. It gives you a paper gift card which you enter into your Amazon account and then when you buy something it deducts it from your card instead of putting it on your credit card. You are still paying for it, but you are getting rid of your loose change. There was a book I wanted so I applied it against the gift card. I rarely pay for books on Amazon, but this one I really wanted. I usually just take the free ones. I will start reading this book at the casino.

FBG was 139 this morning but I am not upset because the pills pull fat out of the liver and gall bladder so I figure that the higher bs might be expected as the liver cleans out the fat. Also we had pizza yesterday and even though it was lower carb etc, there were more carbs with the tomato sauce. Weight down .6 more lbs to 214.2. DH wants McDs burgers today so I'll go by and get them on the way home from Daddy's CHF appointment. I was going to get Long John Silvers but I decided it would be more calories and out of the way to go by there. Then DS reminded me that if I eat it that the pills could cause me to have potty issues so the CB won over the LJS hands down.
Carol Sue I think if people take the B12 for weight loss and don't diet that they don't lose weight from what I have read. I don't know if she diets or not, but maybe that is the problem. I wondered if y'all would go to the casino today. Glad you found a way to buy the book. That is a great idea, but I never have very much change and DH always empties the change out of his pocket when he pays cash. Most quarters go into the car ashtray for change when we go through drive throughs. Enjoy your book.
Mad, the main reason I want to work things out where I can keep my 8:16 hr IF ratio. I still want the benefits of the fast and I am afraid of adding more food. I'm finally losing and don't want to do anything to stop that. In fact, I am still thinking about the shot mainly because I could get 1 shot a week and keep the 8 hr eating window or even less if I wanted too because I wouldn't have to eat to take 2 pills 3x a day to get the benefits I can get from one shot each week. I could save the pills for the weeks they are closed and I can't get the shot. DS went on Amazon and ordered the liquid rather than the pills for to use for the weeks she can't get the shots.
Getting ready to head out to meet Daddy and DS at the CHF clinic. Hope everyone has a great day.

I know my SIL is upset that she has regained some of her weight from the WLS but she is married to my DHs brother and they eat out a lot. But her B12 is low according to the doc and that's why she needs it. She also used to go to a gym and do aerobics and Zumba. That gym closed and she never joined another one. I think she really needs the exercise.

JocelynMarie Glad your FBG is coming back down and you know it was the cold. I always like it when I know what causes my FBG is higher than usual because it helps me feel more in control of it. When I moved to TX and met my new doctor, he told me I didn't have to check my FBG each morning because he checked it every morning because he would be checking it every 3 months. But I never stopped checking because I learned years ago that the only way I could get my blood sugar under control was for me to learn how to take control of what I ate and check bs at least once a day. I always check it 2x a day and sometimes 3. I want to know how my body reacts to foods I eat. I have a step-sister whose DH learned what foods he could and could not eat by checking his bs after he ate certain foods. Example he learned he could eat a McDs Egg MacMuffin each morning on his way to work if he took the top of the muffin off. There is a man on YouTube that tests foods on his on program, he says so we don't have to. So I started doing that to especially if I eat something new that I haven't eaten before. It is good that you are learning these things too and you will do great.

Pipsicle, congrats on the loss. Well done. It has not been easy, but this should feel encouraging. I hope you keep skating. You can justify the cost of new skates if you keep doing it.
Jocelyn Marie: glad you are feeling better and that the BS is improving with that. Looks like you are eating a plant based diet now? That has been successful for many people and I'm happy its working for you.
I ate better yesterday and within a 7 hour window, and was rewarded with no weight gain, am actually 151.8 today. Not really a loss, but encouraging not to be up. I am trying to figure out how to do a nice dog walk today before work, but get in for the 10 am appointment I have.
Very disappointed that the person we interviewed on Monday decided to take another job and not ours.
So spend much of yesterday working through things with another midwife. I will likely work more weeks than I hoped but at a slower pace this spring. Will see how that works.
I am going to thoroughly enjoy my time off though.
Have a good day everyone.

Pipsicle Congratulations on the 1.5 loss. You have worked hard to get it and that is great.
Mad Sorry the lady didn't take the job. Maybe someone will come a long soon.
I can't believe I woke up before 6 this morning and could have gotten up. I knew I needed at least 7 hrs or sleep but couldn't go back to sleep so finally got up around 7ish deciding that I can take a nap when I get back from the beauty shop and store. I've only taken partial doses of these pills and the B12 liquid so I'm wondering if I am already getting some benefits. This is the way I used to do when I was eating better and losing weight back in FL and SC. I hope I keep having this energy.
FBG was 118 this morning so that is good. Since I woke up early and weighed about an hour and half early my weight was up a lb from yesterday but that doesn't necessarly mean it is really. SC doc used to say maybe you haven't pottied and that was the case this morning plus I usually gain 2 lbs when eating McDs or pizza and I had them back to back so not really a weight gain. I'm sure it was just the excess sodium in both and I am thankful it was only 1lb. I don't usually have pizza and CB that close together because of the sodium. I could have taken a fluid pill, but I do not want to take them any more and since I just started these new pills I want to see how they work for me. Plus I can't make a good decision about going to take the shots if I don't give these a fair chance. Also I still haven't taken the full dose per day yet. I start that today with breakfast and work the other 2 doses within my 8 or 9 eating hours today since I still plan to stay with a 8 or 9 hours eating window each day. I figure I might have to take them a good week or more before I see any real results because they are natural items and pills instead of shots.
Carol Sue Hope things went well at the casino yesterday.
JocelynMarie Hope you are feeling even better today.
Hope everybody has a great day.

We broke even at the casino. It turns out better since I stopped gambling. DH let's me play his machine some.
I am very tired today. I don't sleep well when we go to the casino. I think that is because I drink Diet Pepsi there and it has caffiene. I don't drink it in the evening at home.
Sounds like you are doing well, Trish, not having any side effects from the pills. That's good.

I am still having issues with food taste. Last night at the casino I was ok with the home baked mac and cheese and veggies. Ate a piece of steak that was ok. This AM we went out for breakfast and I choked down a croissant with egg and sausage and a couple home fries that came with it. Didn't enjoy it. For dinner we went to the place where I usually get the Italian hoagie. For something different I got a chef salad. It had a ton of shredded cheese on top that really turned me off. I pushed it aside as best I could but there was so much it ended up in every bite. I don't like ranch dressing any more and never liked any other dressing. The deli meat in the salad tasted too salty. I ate half of the salad but forced it. When I get the Italian hoagie the same deli meat tastes fine. I find that I can eat and enjoy a bowl of bran cereal. Or a slice of bread with peanut butter. So it's not all food that I don't like. So far I still like ice cream. but didn't like that milk shake I had. I really don't understand. If I didn't eat the stuff I would be losing weight but I'm going out to eat to please DH. Just nothing on the menu appeals to me. I keep forgetting to take the zinc. Reading online I might be suffering from depression.
I napped a little today. I think I am going to take Tylenol Arthritis tonight because I need a good night's sleep.
