No, Trish, I did not have any pain last night or today. I took the gout med 2 days and will probably cut it tomorow. I still forgot to check online about cutting it. I get back pain in bed if I sleep on my left side.

DH did not make breakfast. I did not eat until 11:30 when I cooked eggs and toast. He did not want lasagna but wanted Texas Roadhouse. It was Columbus Day so we could not get the early bird specials. Grrr. I will make the lasagna tomorrow. I have to because I already defrosted the meat.

Trish I read on the LC forum that Aldi's has zero net carb bread. I don't think it's the same one I bought there before. It is 9 carbs and 9 fiber. I will try it, but hope I do not get a belly ache from the extra fiber, plus i wonder what the fiber is from.

I had to give shots to DH when he came home from the hospital. It was nothing. I know I could give myself a shot. Diabetics give themselves shots.

I dropped my new meter in a sink full of water. DH dried it out but told me to buy a new one. He says it's done for. I have my old one but I like to have 2 of them. I gave my extra one to my BIL and I dont think he's even using it. The strips I gave him will expire and won't be any good. DH always wants me to help him out and this is how it turns out. He feels sorry for him.

Hi everyone: just stopping by to say hello. Its been a long weekend here in Canada, our Thanksgiving was yesterday. Since we are away it was not a big deal. We were in Halifax to see my dear friend who moved here in the summer. I miss her terribly. We got set up to do video calls together while we make supper on Monday evenings. They are also here for a concert Friday night, and it turns out to be the same one we have tickets for. (There are at least 4-5 concerts every night, in different places all over the island)
DH and I enjoyed a video call with DD last night while we all made supper. She got home on Sunday. She is just home for a little over 2 weeks before she leaves for fun (not work) travels for 2 months. We will miss a week of her being home, but she will see all her friends during this time and we will have time with her when we get back. At least she will be here for her sister's convocation.
I am sticking to the 16:8 but with all the driving, getting enough exercise has been difficult. We had a good walk yesterday, and now we are done travelling and driving for a bit. We will stay in our B&B and go out to our concerts in the evening. During in the day, we will find trails and walk, and explore the small seaside towns. I will be checking out restaurants for the next bit, but we can also go to grocers and cook for ourselves easily enough, which is better than if we had a hotel.
I think my tummy will be happier if I go low carb again though. That will be my plan for the rest of the trip.

There are Celtic music lovers from all over North America here, from Texas, Alaska, Alabama, Oregon and Washington, Maine, and of course every Canadian province and territory. We have greatly enjoyed everything so far.

Have read all your posts, but no comments for now, but know that I am thinking of you my friends and hope things go well for the next while.
Pipsicle, oddly I will hope your TSH is totally horrid and you get more medication soon.

Mad, it sounds like you are really enjoying your trip! Lots of interesting things.

I am starving. Can't wait for DH to get up to cook. He doesn't like if I eat without him. When I got up I ate a small avocado I had that was getting ripe. I wasn't hungry until after I ate that. The fat should have stopped hunger but instead it started it. It seems that eating gets my appetite going. I am better off going longer without food. This is the kind of hunger that doesn't feel good.

Itchy ears are back. Guess I have to see the doctor. It's very annoying.

Not much else. Might get on the scale today but I already had coffee. Water weight.

Mad Glad to see you are have such a good time on your trip and it is wonderful that you got to spend time with your friend. Enjoy the remainder sounds like a lot of good enjoyable exercise as you site see and.

Carol Sue Sorry the itchy ears are back. My doctor told me to use Fasonex nasal spray when I had that. He said I had a little bit of liquid in the ear and that would help.. I never bought it and don't know if it would work or not and don't know if you would want to try it. I'm glad the pain is gone. I hope you can break the meds in half and it helps.

My FBG was 130 this morning but I'm sure that is because I had to take a decongestant allergy pill last night. I found out that the vision problem I had before is caused from my sinuses. I had such a horrible sinus headache last night that my eye sight became blurry. It was obvious that it was the sinuses this time because there was not any part of my sinuses that did not hurt. I took the decongestion pill and 2 Excedrin and it finally went a way. Weight is down a lb this morning to 213.4 but not going to get excited yet. I want to see if it stays first.

Carol Sue 9 grams of fiber in the Aldi bread sounds good but I would have to see where the fiber comes from too. Last night we watched a dietitian teaching about what fiber is and why we need it etc. It was from a talk she gave back in 2013 so it is old, but she said the food industry has learned how to dupe us into thinking something is healthy and it isn't. She called it "fake" fiber and said we have to really watch. I like the fact that DH watched it with me though because now he will understand why I insist on using more of a true fiber bread and flour etc. I am going to start watching my fiber more and try to be sure I get the 21 grams that women need at my age. I have pc problems when I go on MFP and they aren't all that accurate any way. So I'm going to take the log sheet that DH first wife had when she was living and change it to fit my eating habits so I can keep up with what I eat. I want to get more serious about this.

I told DH that I want to give these Lipotropic pills a month to see how they work and then I will decide about the shots. They also have a liquid form that I might try if I don't like the way these work. I know liquid gets in your system better and faster than pills. The main thing is I want the benefit of the B12. The man we watched the other night said he isn't sure about how well the liquid B12 works. Of course the shots get right into your system.

Carol Sue What did the book you are reading say about fasting. I was curious about it once you commented on it. Please share.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I never did get on the scale. Maybe tomorow.

Trish, the main thing this book said about fasting that I thought was wrong is that autophagy or fat burning didn't start until 48 hours after your last meal. Everyone else says 12 hours for autophagy and fat burning would depend on how much glucose you had stored. I might go back and see if I can find it, but it's hard to search for something in a Kindle book. I would be disappointed if it took a 48 hour fast to start.

I would definitely count the 213. It might go back.up, but each time you go down you bounce a little lower. Slow but sure.

Thanks Carol Sue. I too have a problem with the autophagy not starting until 48 hrs. I can go at leas 12 hrs without anything to get the autophagy but would probably never get into it if it takes 48 hrs.

Didn't eat breakfast until 10:40 after 21 minutes on bike and 1 cup of my coffee with stevia and sugar free French Vanilla creamer. BS was 117. So that is a good reading before actually eating anything. The exercising really makes a difference. Having a half serving of oatmeal as I can never eat a whole serving, a handful ob blueberries, 1 T PB and my homemade yogurt in it. So I've got my 1st helping of fiber in so far today. It definitely takes diet and exercise working together to control BS.

Trish, I could not find the part about 48 hours without going back and reading the whole book over again. When I do I want to take some notes. From what I did read it seems they are talking about burning fat, not autophagy. Getting into ketosis does take a couple days but once you get in it you can stay in it with diet.

Carol and Trish: I think Dr. Fung says autophagy starts "when it starts" Its different in everyone. We can't really tell.
He says its one of the reasons that people who fast to lose weight seldom have loose skin. I have none in spite of losing my 40 pounds fairly quickly.
I rarely went more than 42 hours. I think I went to 60 hours 2 or three times only since I started fasting. SO I also don't believe the 48.
That said, the longer we go the more the benefits, but he also says we should not feel sick from fasting, just hungry.
Salt is supposed to help.
Carol, if you are itchy inside the ears, I think that is allergy.
It may be the ragweed and hay fever end of season, or a food or supplement.
Is anything kind of new? I get a bit itchy if my avocados are not quite ripe. Bananas do it too.
If you can get Reactine over the counter a half tablet will likely help.

Mad, Dr Fung is co author of the book I'm reading and it does say that he has never had a patient need skin removal surgery. I have seen places where he has contradicted himself on some things. In his defense it could be that he learns something new that puts a different spin on things.

The itching could be from a med or supplement. I also have a new rash on my arm. I stopped the gout med but pain came back so i had to start taking it again. I have nasal spray and will try that like Trish said. Never heard of reactine. I have tried several things but only get short term relief.

Edit: it looks like Reactine is sold as Zyrtec here in the US.

FBG 113 but I sent it skyrocketing last night. G to the rescue. I have until December for A1c so I better turn this around

Weight was 213.8 this morning. I said it was 213.4 yesterday and I'm not sure that was right because I couldn't remember if it was .4 so I just thought it was. Either way it is nice to see the 213. If I remember correctly that is a new low for me in quite a long while. FBG before coffee was 120. After 1 c coffee and 25 minutes exercise on the bike and before breakfast, the BS reading was 114. I'm very pleased with todays results.

Mad Thanks for the info on autophagy. Right now I have no long term fasting planned, however, I do try to stick to 12 to 16 hours fasting. Right now I've gotten to the place I don't get hungry.

Carol Sue Zyrtec is the sinus medicine our doctor wants us to use. Hope it helps you.

Yesterday was a day when I just wasn't hungry enough to cook. DH ended up eating tomato soup and I had half a can of lentil soup. I love cheese toast or PB toast. The dietitian I watched the other night showed some simple breakfasts to eat for fiber so last night when I wanted something light to eat, I ate the sl Sara Lee 45 calorie MG toast 1 with PB and 1 with cheese and an apple for dinner. Later I got hungry for a snack and decided to eat a stalk of celery and it satisfied the need. As I finished eating it I remembered hearing a woman in WW years ago say "If you are really and truly hungry that a stalk of celery will taste good". I guess it was real hunger because that stalk of celery tasted delicious. LOL

I guess these pills are actually curbing my appetite. So I have decided that I am going to have to figure out some easy meals that could be cooked in the crock pot so it is ready so DH can eat on those days when I am not hungry enough to stand up and cook. There just isn't any food that I feel like I just have to have. DS said she looked up the side effects of what is in these pills/shots and they make you look at food differently.
Whatever it is I will take it as long as it works.

Y'all have a nice day.

Trish, I am so glad that you are holding the 213. Yay!! I think the pills are killing your appetite! Hope it keeps up.

I love celery but for some reason I don't think to eat it. I use it in cooking. My friend cuts hers up when she brings it home so she has it ready. I should do that. DH and I always told the kids if they are hungry they will eat what i give them and they usually did. Some things that they won't eat today.

I have a hard time when I don't feel like eating. DH can be a real pain in the butt. I gave him his own way for so long and now he wants it all the time.

Hi everyone: apparently the big storm on your east coast will head to Nova Scotia this afternoon, so we will walk this morning before the weather gets bad.
I am not sleeping great. I will attribute this to alcohol, even one glass seems to affect my sleep.
I am also not sure my meal was gluten free last night. While I didn't have an outright "celiac reaction" and all that that implies, I have been crampy and uncomfortable from about two hours later. I wondered if the roast veggies had some soy sauce on them. Hope that will work through as the day goes on.

Planning to eat take out lobster dinner tonight. That should make it easy!
Have a good day friends.

FBG 123. Still no scale. I ate an early breakfast of eggs and toast because we are heading out early. Guess where we are going? LOL

Trish, you have me craving toast with peanut butter, but not with eggs.

Fatmad So sorry about the gluten meal. Hope the reaction passes soon.

Carol Sue Hope y'all have a good experience at the casino today.

Well, I'm going to be doing more lower carb and less of some of the carbs I was eating. You know I've been telling y'all that I didn't like the way my legs and feet were feeling. Well, I thought it was blood flow, but it was a fluid build up. You know I've been trying not to use the fluid pills, but yesterday I don't remember what made me realize that it was fluid build up. The main reason I chose to do LCHF to start with was because I didn't have to worry about fluid build up. With DH guidance I spent yesterday afternoon and night taking Lasix to get the fluid off. Still have some this morning that needs to come off but hoping getting back on lowcarb will bring the other off without me having to take Lasix. I guess I do need a fluid pill once in a while and I will use it as needed. I got my powdered Vitamin C and started taking it this morning hoping that will with low carb meals will get the rest of it off. The diet plan DS gave me from the bariatric clinic is a low carb, low fat, high protein diet. I never liked low fat because everything you buy that is lowfat is high sodium. However, I've been using some other foods that are higher sodium so may have to watch that more closely.

FBG is 118 this morning and weight was 212.4. I'm taking that as real since I now know that a lot of the weight was fluid.

Hope everyone has a good day.

::woohoo : 212!!!

Great news Trish, but sorry to hear you are retaining fluid in your legs. If you continue to take the lasix be careful of electrolyte s. When I take lasix my doc always has me take potassium. Also, I've been reading that we need more sodium than we have been getting. Your sodium was already low, remember? I wonder if the pills you have been taking are causing the fluid retention. So many things we have to worry about. Lowering fat does not mean you have to eat things labeled low fat. Just don't eat high fat foods.

We did not win at the casino but I got a nice shirt they were passing out because of the jackpot I won a couple months ago. DH said he is never going there again, BUT he is going to the casino in PA. We never win there plus we never get free buffets. And I don't even like their buffet. But we will see how it goes. It is not as far away.

My eating has been out of control. I will not get on the scale. I have to change my ways.
