Default mama losing weight

To the two moms above trying to lose weight, we have something in common. I was 124 prepreggers and went to 166 on day of birth. I lost a lot of weight at first and thought it would just keep going, but I was wrong. I actually gained weight. I just stopped breastfeeding last week and my daughter is 18 months old. So, you are not alone with the whole gaining after birth thing.

My sunday weigh in is down a pound from last week. woohoo. Im on the sonoma diet, but have not done great the last two days. Mexican restaurant yesterday and hot wings today. Not great, but tomorrow Im going to take charge again.

I dont mind a little cheating here and there. You do only live once.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend. Have a happy monday.

Running- WELCOME! I'm right there with you on the baby weight! My son, Allen is 7 mos, I'm so determined to take of the rest the weight!
Beaner- I was 160 pre-preggo, and 191 at the end. I lost 14 lbs right off the bat, then put it right back on again! So we've got a lot in common there!
WI: 171!! YAY! I've hit the 20lb marker! I'm so excited!
Mamabear- I felt the same way about not noticing the loss, until the other day a friend of mine made a comment about how much thinner I looked, then I started noticing.
Everybody's doing great! Losses everywhere! That's awesome! We're on our way!
Sorry I'm not around much these past few days, we're in the process of moving so I've been really busy. I'll try to pop in everyday and say hello!

Unhappy I did sooooo bad this weekend! Ugh!

OK!! I went WAY off my diet this weekend!! I think I've gained about 3lbs back! I am soooo disappointed in myself! I've worked so hard and like an idiot, I threw myself off totally this weekend! I'm afraid I won't be able to get back into my stride again!

Mamabear-I understand how you are feeling. I lost 9lbs (well, DID lose 9lbs, but after this weekend...sniff, sniff...I think I'm screwed!) and don't feel like I've lost anything. I feel like 9lbs is a significant amount of weight too, but no one has said anything to me about looking any thinner... I really don't feel thinner.
Hang in there! Know that you are not alone!!

I'm on an emotional rollercoaster myself. Today, was a definite down day after getting on that stupid scale that haunts me... I understand how easy it is to gain weight back now...3lbs doesn't seem like much, but when u work soooo hard to get off 9 and you gain 3 of it back...it's so frustrating.
I went skiing for the first time ever on Saturday. I thought it was a really great workout that totally kicked my butt...WRONGO!!
It WAS a really great workout and it DID totally kick my butt...but kicked it so bad that I was physically drained the rest of the weekend to the point where I didn't have the energy to cook myself healthy meals or make myself a healthy lunch today. I really wanted to do 45min of Turbo Jam tonight to try to at least make myself feel better about those 3lbs, but all I want to do is get into my jammies and hang out on the couch! I'm in a slump... HELP!!!
I'm afraid I'm going to giveup! when something goes wrong, I always seem to fall off track! I feel like crying...

Christie- Hugs to you sweetie! Don't give up! After my vacation I gained 3.5 lbs and I was so disapointed in myself. But I got of my butt and worked. I'm sure that nobody has said anything either b/c they see you everyday and therefore don't notice changes as frequently, or they don't want to insult you. I think some people are afraid that if they say anything about your loss, they might make you self concious.
Hang in there, Girl! We're here for you! Just remember, you can't reach your goals laying down!

Default Hang In There

I like that, "You can't reach your goals lying down". Everyone of us is going to have ups and downs in this journey. It's just a part of it. It's just great that you caught yourself on the way down. Don't think of it as gaining 3lbs., think of it as a slip that you've caught. No problems. Down 9, up 3, down 6, up 2...no problems as long as you keep going down more than you go up, right? Don't be blue, just hang in there with us! We're all going to make this happen!!! A friend of mine joined weight watchers about a month ago and has lost 11.5lbs.! You don't know how weak that makes me feel. If she can do it, why can't I? Where is the discipline? Where is the willpower? Are some people born with it and others not? I WANT MY PANTS TO FIT AGAIN!!!!

Wow! Look at all these other moms who gained after having their babies! Why does everyone tell us we'll lose when we breastfeed? I've had four children, and I've never lost anything until after I finished breastfeeding. I was always famished, and didn't have much time to plan meals or get much exercise other than walking with the stroller.

Alright, now with the quick and dirty: I totally binged this weekend. Part of it was I overworked and overstressed myself because my in-laws were here, part of it was a sick toddler, part of it was eating out, but most of it was me. What a stupid thing to do! I ate Sunday (after company left) when I was alone with my sick daughter until I felt physically sick myself. How pleasureable can it be if you feel sick? I wish we knew WHY we do such things. And DH and I are planning for a trip to Italy this summer, I SO don't want to be the 'chubby' american. There's so much good going on in my life, why should I sabbotage myself like this? Alright, no more of that! Onward to the finishline!

I weighed myself this morning--better just to face the facts, and I'll work all this week to undo the damage. So...that's one week's wasted I can't get back, gotta remember that for next time.

I think I'm going to spread out my calories more and eat mini-meals, I'm getting too hungry between meals, plus I'm not eating enough dairy. I'll give it a try and see if it helps keep the evil cravings at bay.

I wish the best for all of you today, and that you find time for yourself to exercise. Have a great one!

Running- I didn't BF, but I thought the weight was just going to go away after having Allen. HA! 7 months later and 10lbs left of baby weight . . . and 15 of "just me" weight! They say that since it takes 9 months to put it on, it should take that long to take it off . . . then you look at all these celebrities like Heidi Klum walking the Victoria's Secret fashion show 4 weeks after having a baby! OMG! How do they do that? It can't be healthy!

OK all of us need a virtual kick in the butt!! We have come too far to go back. So we had a bad weekend...don't give up now. That just means we have to work that much harder this week. Get moving and eat your veggies! That's what I eat in between meals to keep me going. I have small baggies of baby carrots and when I need a fix I grab one. It's just enough to satisfy me and I drink a glass of water. By then I'm pretty filled up and can make it to the next meal. Let's all get back on track ladies!!

Default Yaa Its Not Just Me!

Ladies I Honestly Thought I Was The Only One. I Went From 205 To 210.5 Last Week And That Was With Sticking To It Faithfully. I Am Kind Of Distraught Withatkins And Wondering If I Should Give South Beach Another Go. Anyone Had Any Similiar Problems With Low Carb?

All The Support Here Is Great, It Sounds Like The Moon Must Have Been Out Of Alignment Or Something Last Week, We Were All Kind Of In The Same Boat. Its Nice To Hear That My Boat Wasnt The Only One Sinking Fast. Thanks Again For Just Being Here And Good Luck To Us All This Week

Default thanks everyone!

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement! I feel much better now than I did when I first saw the gain. I'm glad I'm not the only one who had a bad week. I think I would feel 10x worse if everyone else was doing great and I was the only one falling off the horse!
My body is still a little sore from the skiing on Saturday-I can't believe it's taking me this long to get back to normal...I finally feel up to getting back into Turbo Jam again. I think that's my plan for this evening. I've still been going to the gym in the AM, so at least I've stayed on track with that. I am just going to have to kick it into high gear the rest of the week.
I believe I'm back down 2lbs from my gain, but we'll see.....I need to prepare myself for this weekend so that I don't slip again.
What have I done today to make myself proud? I've stuck with it, I didn't give up, and have learned from my mistakes!!!
Have a great day everyone!! Keep moving!!

PS. Can't wait for Biggest Loser tonight!! Yay!!!!!!

Christie, great attitude! I'm glad you got yourself back on track! Just keep taking it one day, even one meal at a time. Tell yourself this meal is going to be healthy. Don't think about the next one and don't think about last weekend. It over now and you can't change it. You can only change the choices you make in the future. Make the choice to eat the next healthy meal, make the choice to do your turbo jam and move forward!!

I am making the choice to go do my pilates right now. lol I borrowed a couple of dvd's from the library. I just ordered Windsor Pilates so I have the ones from the library until I get mine in the mail. I have never done pilates before but I really like it. I did it yesterday...very cool! OK gotta get to it while the man is sleeping.

Make it a great week everyone!!

Mamabear, thanks for that virtual kick in the butt! I'm back on track with my eating and feeling better about myself. It's a gorgeous day out, so I'm going to go bike riding as soon as I get the baby asleep (I homeschool, so I have some baby-sitting help). I popped supper in the crockpot, a light chicken florentine lasagna recipe, and we'll have some cantaloupe with it.

I think for me the problem was the time of year, February hit and the 'newness' of the healthy lifestyle wore thin. I'm glad to see everyone back on track. It's not the fall that matters, it's the getting up. Congrats for all of us for getting back up!!!

Two bumper stickers I saw today that jazzed me up:
"Do one thing every day that scares you"
"Say your mind even if your voice shakes"
