Today is going to be a good day, I can feel it! The scale says 206.5 this morning! Yay!
I have a really long shift at work today, but it's ok because I actually have stuff I can DO instead of just standing around. I get to rearrange cases and displays today, plus all the paperwork I just learned how to do, plus I need to get in touch with my Account Executive to figure out some more stuff (the lady that trained me has a different AE, so she couldn't explain everything because they all do things a little different--I think it was just an excuse not to train me!). Anyway, work should go quickly, for once.
I seriously doubt I'll get any exercise in. I hate working out in the evening and then again in the morning, for the specific reason that I have to shower twice. I have clinically dry skin and the doctor told me not to shower more than every other day (though I always shower every day anyway, especially right after I work out). I'm already not following her orders, but I don't want to aggravate it by doing even more.
I know, that's just another excuse.
Anyway, today's food looks like this:
Breakfast: coffee with creamer, scrambled eggs with cheese, and toast
Lunch: Diet Dr. Pepper, leftover chicken with peppers and onions, leftover rice and vermicelli
Dinner: I have no idea. Probably a turkey sandwich and some crackers, since I doubt there will be anything cooked. I guess we'll see.
And of course, lots of water fit in there somewhere.
Anyway, I'll come back and comment this evening, let you know how my day stacked up, when my brain is working a little better. Have a lovely day everyone!
~Elisha
Julie - thanks! Honestly, the trick to not eating of it is that you get covered in the sugar and gunk and it's under your fingernails and feels GROSS, and then you get stiff because the sugar gets mixed with the sweat on your skin and it feels so gross, you could not possibly imagine putting that stuff in your mouth for another six hours. Seriously!! And that tuna stuff is so good... I swear to you, I'm going to be eating that for every meal for 3 days. You're doing awesome too btw!! I'm glad you're finally back!
Michelle - Thanks!!! I better be able to beat the 170's sometime this freaking year, ya know? I hope you get there faster than I have!
Lisa - I love to cook, so it's not really a big deal for me to do this stuff, but the hot stupid hot weather is bugging me with it hehe! Plus she's my best friend and we can't afford to get her much for her wedding, so I have to do -something- ya know? If you're lookin' for new recipes, there are a bunch of good places. foodnetwork.com has a lot of recipes listed under the shows, and there's the 'calorie commando' show and the low-carb show, which have healthy recipes on both! Also bisquick.com is rad because bisquick can do anything.
Jay - Thanks! The only pills that actually -did- anything were the Ignite pills that I had back in '02. But now the stupid government took away ephedrine, so I can't breathe anymore (it's used for athsma), so my pills now totally suck. I have these cheap (11 a bottle -not- on sale) 'Extreme Lean' things from Safeway (you might have that store, might have something else?) and they're good for a little energy boost. They're supposed to control appetite but I don't have that feeling at all, so it doesn't really bother me or help me, there, so I can't relaly say how well they work at that! But they are good for supplying a little kick of energy and forcing me to get my butt moving, plus they have a ton of vitamins in 'em. I AM SO PROUD OF YOU FOR BEING IN THE 140's!!!!!! AND almost the 130's!! YOU are kicking my butt!!! I'm so proud of you! And yeah you better email me... the hubby is whining that he has nothing else funny to look at. (And my femme friends want more hot firefighters! WOO!)
Jennifer - I have to say, the spicier you make it (they called for horseradish originally but I hate it and don't have any either...) the better it is. I used a small spoonful of hot chinese mustard and it totally helped. Hope your day goes quickly and smoothly today!
Elisha - You should try oil of olay's body wash for extra dry skin with shea butter in it... the bottle with yellow on it, not the purple one. My legs crack into scales and my whole body peels if I don't use serious amounts of lotion all day every day or if i don't use that bodywash. I know it's a long shot, but it's worth a shot! I hope works does go quickly!! You're doing awesome, by the way! WAY TO GO!
Well... so now that I'm finished with that...
Food today -
B - maybe tuna burger stuff, maybe a frozen fruit smoothie.. can't decide
L - whatever I didn't have for breakfast
D - waffles, I think... with bacon. (we're broke so it's what we can find right now)
workout -
20+ min ellipitical w/ weights
15+ min bike w/ weights
450 uber situps
50 squats w/ 2lb weights
20 butt squeezes (forget to add this one all the time!)
5 min stair stepper on level3
5 min upper body/arm workout w/ 2 lb weights
Other than that, I have my tapes to do... 3 days of working left to go!! YAAY!!! SO freaking stoked about that, you could not possibly understand!
So basically, yesterday I was trying on a bunch of my old clothes that I didn't try on before, like some stuff I didn't know I had haha, and a lot of it fits. I'm getting really happy about this... now it better not quit at 179.4 for another 3 months before I can get rid of it!! GAH!! I'm so happy to finally have slid off of that stupid plateau.
I also can't wait for my new job to start -- on my feet for 8-9 hrs a day, 5 days a week, working my butt off? YAY!! It's like an all-day workout, and I totally want that! I felt awesome when I worked like this before, because my body actually got used.
Well I'm off for the day... I hope everybody has an awesome day, and I'll check you guys later!!
Strange update... breakfast wasn't either of the things I noted. I took my vitamins & all those things and looked for something, but I didn't feel like eating so I decided to do my squats & weight lifting and situps, and then I'd eat something. Then my blood sugar took a serious nosedive and I got way overheated in 2 seconds flat. So I ate like, perhaps 1/3 cup of some pesto pasta, which did not go over well... and my stomach hurts pretty badly, and my blood sugar still feels a little crazy like that. So now I have a strawberry juice popsicle (it's all strawberries mashed up, a little OJ, and some honey, so it's good for ya, at least...) and it's helping to cool me down and fix that psycho blood sugar thing.
Does anybody else get that kind of thing? I know it's because I took my vitamins w/o eating and that's just dumb... But seriously, what the heck fixed a weird blood sugar drop like that? I know meat is good, but I have 0 meat until Friday at the very, very earliest, and probably not for a couple of weeks after that. Fruit is supposed to be good, right?
Yech. Anyway workout is going slower than expected today and food might be a little off, because I'm going to try to level myself off. I wanted to keep accountable, though.
Hope I'm not too late to get on board, but I just found this community today, and would like to be part of this challenge. I'm a bit overwhelmed by all of the different groups that seem to be going on, so I thought I'd just pick a thread and start from there. This challenge seemed great to me, since I'll be going back to work right around Labor Day and would love to have lost a decent amount of weight by then!
My name is Jenn, but I'll go by Rysa as there are just too many Jenns in the world. :-) I need to lose 60 lbs. and am planning to do so by cutting calories, limiting snacks to fruit and veggies, exercise and *triple bleech* drinking *bleech* water.
My current weight is 210lbs. My starting weight was 220lbs. I want to be 150lbs.
My Labor Day goal is to:
-eat only 3 calorie-reduced meals a day (I tend to eat practically a fourth late at night - which is the WORST thing I could do, I know)
-exercise nightly (starting at 20 minutes on my stationary bike and 15 crunches this week)
-eat only fruit, veggies or air-popped popcorn for snacks (3 a day max this week)
-drink 3 16oz glasses of water daily *gags*
Gee, can y'all tell I don't like water?
So anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know you, and hope that you don't mind me jumping in late. I would LOVE to be under 200lbs. by Labor Day, but I'm not going to set a short term weight goal - just goals for changes. Once I see how I'm progressing, then I'll start naming numbers.
Well, the meeting was long, and unproductive....what fun.
Only deviance in the plan has been the addition of 1 tiny dinner roll with my lunch. I skipped all the oil & garlic & crap that was here to slather on them. Not even butter!
Today when I get home, I'm now committed to 3 miles WATP. Thanks to Mary going ahead & doing the 3 miles today. Yeah, ok- I deserve it for poking my favorite turtle with a stick. "I will if you will." Damn, I've learned that lesson the hard way! No poking at Mary, cause she'll do it just to spite me!
Elisha- I'd have to disobey the doctor, too, and just moisturize a lot. I can't stand the idea of being sticky & skanky & laying around in my own sweat. My hair gets drenched when I work out, so I probably shampoo more than any person on the planet. I'm surprised I have any hair with all the scrubbing I do.
Lucy- I've never had that happen with the vitamins & blood sugar, but I have taken them on an empty stomach & that's left me nauseous for hours. Even adding food after taking them didn't cure the queasies.
Rysa- Welcome! Always good to have another chickie on board! And another teacher- that's 3 in this group! Where in PA are you? I grew up in Stroudsburg, went to East Stroudsburg University, and worked at several places in the Poconos. Beautiful area...I miss it. I also find it hard to get my water in- it has to be ice cold- if it gets even a little bit warm, ugh, it just won't go down then. Goals look really good. Make yourself at home- these are wonderful ladies here!
Rysa - welcome!! Your plan sounds awesome... and I hate water, too. If you add a little bit of lime juice, it helps... I like lime better than lemon, but they both help. You should try crystal light, too, if you haven't. There are a ton of flavors, it's sugar-free, 5 calories for 8 oz, and it's a way to get in some of that water w/o feeling the 'ewwww' feeling while drinking it. Hope you have an awesome day!
Jennifer - Yeah, I think that's what I did.. I went back and traced over what I'd done, because it felt like when I'd started on the whole atkins' thing and passed out from lack of blood sugar. Turns out, I took my diet pills -and- a 12-hr sudafed at the same time... ta-da! Instant dizzy freakout! Also -- I've transcribed about 4 tapes from Stroudsburg. How weird!
Okay I worked out like mad, and I feel a lot better. I'm going to eat something sweet for lunch, now, because I still have that icky feeling from this morning a little bit. Sooo the food plan has changed. (Can I -ever- make up my mind? AS IF! haha)
So as it stands now:
B - 1/3 cup pesto leftover, 3/4 strawberry juice bar, 1" of a candy cane (mint helps nausea)
L - 2 rice cakes w/ peanut butter on them and an 8oz glass of pureed frozen fruit chunks
D - waffles (mine will have fruit on 'em) & bacon
It's hotter than it was yesterday, too, so I am going to do exactly -nothing- after my tapes are done, today. I am going to plunk my child-bearing hips down on that couch and zone out for a few hours until my husband shows up, and then I'm going to make him cook dinner. Okay, more like I'll be nice and sweet and say that mine aren't as good so he needs to make it, and then he'll want to do it..... hehe yeah. I rule.
Wow....small world! Anybody with anything interesting happen? LOL Lots of accidents with deer, and snowy banks, but that was about it when I left 12 years ago. Moved to Florida to follow my parents- having Mommy 26 hours away wasn't too comforting when I'd be stuck in ice & snow & my car wouldn't start. So, here I am!
Ugh- Sudafed, diet pills & vitamins...I'm surprised you have a stomach lining left.
I live in Hellertown, PA, which is near Allentown, and maybe 30-40 minutes tops from East Stroudsburg. :-) It is a very pretty area.
Thanks for the water sympathies! Question, though. I know diet soda does NOT count as water (though I doubt I can give up my diet Cherry and Lime Cokes cold turkey!) because diet soda actually dehydrates you. If you do the Crystal Light thing does that give all the water benefits? If so, I'll do just peachy - I love their raspberry lemonade. I just can't understand people who say water doesn't taste like anything - to me it definitely does. Something awful.
Meanwhile, today is going well so far. Nice breakfast of cereal and a little orange juice, lunch was a smear of pb on light bread and canteloupe, and I had a snack of a peach. Haven't decided on dinner, though it's definitely NOT going to be my son's choice of pizza. (I swear that child would live on pizza and chicken nuggets if I let him.) Wanted to walk to the park, but the thunderstorms rolling through eliminated that possibility. Guess it's pedaling and The Apprentice for me tonight. :-)
Every minute I spend typing is another I'm not eating.... LOL
We used to go shopping in Allentown all the time. And when I do go back to visit, I fly into the ABE airport! It's a beautiful area, Rysa. If you go with caffeine free diet soda, it counts more towards the water, because caffeine is a diuretic. The crystal light raspberry lemonade is awesome, and raspberry ice, too. Even the ruby red grapefruit is good. I'm dying to try the "Sunrise" version of their orange juice.
Heading home now...I'll pop back in once I'm cursing Mary for making me do these 3 miles.....
Hello everyone! I am doing ok today. I havent eaten any chocolate!!! I am not eating a cilantro salad that I made.. No need to add a recipe, just lettuce cucmbers, cilantro, jalapenos, red pepper, lemon juice, and some vinegar and splenda (which is the gross sounding part.. But I didn‘t want to add salad dressing… I drank a C2 today, ate some potato salad, and some gardettos… and I 2 biscuits with lite syrup for breakfast. Not that good.. But not that bad! I have 3507 steps so far.. But I know I have way more.. But that stupid pedometer doesn’t work right… My shorts were too big I guess… Stupid thing! I have done 60 minutes Denise Austin, now I want to do 60 more to make up for yesterday! I want to see that 139.… even if it’s just for one day!! The number sounds low… but most people my height would weigh probably 115 or 120. A lot of people say If I were your size… I wouldn’t worry about it…
#1 ~ 142 lbs is not small on me. I have big hips, butt and thighs, and I have cellulite. Although if I didn’t have the cellulite and the humongous pooch from the kids..(which I AM going to get rid of… AGAIN!) then 142 would be just fine!
#2 ~ I have to work my butt off just to maintain weight loss, so there is no not worrying about anything! I can gain 4 lbs in one day.. No sweat! I have gained 20 lbs back before in 2 weeks, so I know! This is a constant fight for me! I can’t just say ok, well this is it… I’m happy and stop everything!
#3 ~ I know people have to lose 50 or more lbs on here, so a lot of chicks roll their eyes at me and put me in the same category as skinny people that always say they‘re fat…But I am NOT skinny and for the record.. I have lost 60 lbs!! So I can say that I was obese at one time!!!!
Sorry a little rant.. But I got it off of my chest! I feel better! I just feel that as long as I am here to lose weight… I should be appreciated.. My BMI is 27.7. Which is not good! I don’t have much muscle… if any! So just FYI!
That sounds grouchy and mean.. but it’s not.. Just an explanation! I have even less time today, but I wanted to check in.. I hope everyone is doing great!!
Rysa- Welcome!!! I’m so glad to see you here! Never too late!! I wish you all the luck!
Lucy- YOU SHOULD EAT FIRST CHICKIE!! Even if you arent’ hungry!! IMPORTANT! Hey ya like the firefighters eh? I will send them… when someone sent me some more!!
Everyone else!! Sorry I missed you! Thanks for the encouragement!! I just gotta be hard on myself.. Or I’ll act bad!! Plus if I don’t push myself.. Who will!
Well today I plan to cook gumbo, with sausage and shrimp.. NOT HEALTHY! But I have no chice when I Have irritating people here who complain about every little thing!! Sorry. The meatloaf wasn’t gross tasting or anything.. I tasted it myself.. And as much as it had cost to make that my sister should be grateful.. Or buy here own food to cook!! Anyways I am kinda grumpy I guess! But oh well!! Will talk to everyone later!!!

Gotta be quick - we are under a tornado warning here!! Oh, joy!! Sirens are going off...it is scaring my 2 year old!
Today has been a good day. Food is really good. We are having chinese for supper. I'm going to have a small amount of hot and sour soup and a small portion of shrimp fried rice. I have the points to eat this, but it is soooo easy to over do it!
I am going to ride the bike tonight and do my exercise ball/weights/resistance bands. Wish me luck.
Good news- I am doing well with my water. Rysa, using a straw seems to make it go down easier. And, drinking it sure speeds up things. BTW, welcome Rysa!!! I am a teacher too - Kindergarten! It's good to have you!
I made a super low calorie and low fat cheesecake today. It has an aftertaste I think, but DH said it was really good. I am certainly not wasting calories on something I don't even care for, that's for sure.
Haha Jennifer -- I went back and looked at them, and I can't give out names n stuff, but one of the wrecks was actually a deer! The other ones were someone who ran into a parked car 'cause they fell asleep, and somebody who had a wreck in a parking lot with someone else. Yeah, I'm surprised at my stomach of iron, too. After all the painkillers I thought I'd be... I dunno... easier to upset, but I guess not. *shrug* VERY small world, though! Also, that sunrise crystal light is AWESOME. It's -exactly- like the pulp-free, extra calcium stuff I love, but doesn't give me heartburn and it isn't quite as thick as normal OJ. BUT AWESOME!!
Jay - good for you!! stick up for those of us with giant child-bearing hips!! Hon, you are about the cutest girl I've ever seen, ya know it? I'm dead serious. I had someone comment to me the other day that "you only weigh 180, so why the **** are you whining? some of us have -real- weight to lose." I'da smacked that li'l snot if it hadn't been an anonymous comment!! I hear ya, man... 115 lbs on ME?! Yeah, right. MAYBE if I got stuck in a concentration camp and went thru that kind of thing like my family members did, but probably not, and I'm glad those aren't around anymore! I'd still probably have fat on my thighs and end-table butt. It never ends, ya know? Ooh! I'll email you an awesome thing I found that has cut my mom-pouch about in half over the past 2 weeks! WOOHOO!! Yeah, eating first is good, also. I love any hot dudes, man, as long as they aren't totally hairy or look like David Hasselhoff or something. *shudder* I'll explain in email...
Lisa - I hope you don't get any tornadoes!!! We had a huge string of them here (WA near Seattle? Yeah... very weird) this spring and it scared the crap out of me, and I SAW ONE out of my window!! YIKES! And we don't have sirens. Keep yourself safe, chickie!
Well... I did a good thing for myself today. I have this habit.. and I'm about to go do it again hahaha!... I wander into my bedroom and turn on the clock radio and then wander into our closet and start putting on all of the clothes that FIT me, technically, but look horrible on me, still. And then I look at myself in the mirror and find the spots that need to be fixed... and I end up putting on pretty much every item I own and seeing how it fits. It's so frustrating but I'm totally addicted!! And it keeps me motivated, too, because I AM SO CLOSE!!!!!!!! Those cute little jeans that make my butt look good and just make me feel like the cutest girl alive... they -ALMOST- button! GAAAH! Less than ONE INCH from actually being able to somehow suck it in and button up that fly! *rips out hair* ONE INCH! I'm going nuts. So my good thing was that I went to hottopic's website (gothy stuff) and delia's website (cute cheap stuff!) and made a wishlist on each of them, with stuff that is cute that I like the style of, so I can mess with other clothing instead of wear out all of my clothes by constant trying-on. haha!
I want to post a new goal, though. And revise 'em really since I don't think I really made them clear before... if i even posted them! hah!
- Drink 4 bottles of water a day (or crystal light or non-sugary things)
- Sleep more than 3 hrs a night, or else take a 3-hr nap in the day
- When I -do- buy ice cream, only allowed to get either fruit bars or frozen yogurt or sorbet, because it's a lot better and I'm still happy with it. NO HALF BAKED!
- No snacking after dinner, unless it's the air-popcorn and no butter on it
- Actually eat my meals instead of skipping them, dang it! NO MORE SKIPPING!!
- Eat more veggies, because I eat enough fruit for 3 people but hardly any veggies
- Work my tail off at my new job and get an all-day workout
- Walks (or hikes) at least 2x per week
- Lose 5 lbs by the end of this challenge, which is NOT a big goal, come on...
And since I have FINALLY got something to report that is different...
SW - 235
CW - 179.4 (FINALLY UNDER 180!)
GW - 145 (by 1/1/2005)
So that's like, what, 30 lbs or so that I need to get rid of? Sorry this is so long.... I figure if I am on my feet and walking and doing things for 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week, and I still work out for my 20 min and do my situps & squats, I should easily be able to maintain my muscle mass (and my rad shoulderblades) and the fat should pretty easily melt off, and I SHOULD be back in those clothes within 3 months, which would be October-ish. That's really my goal, and then just to tone myself up a little more and trim the last little bit after October.
Okay sorry this was so long... bored to death here. Hope you guys have a good night! I'll check you guys tomorrow.
Whew! Ok, chickies, not only did I do my 3 miles of the Super Challenge....when they slowed things down at the end of the 3rd mile, I said, let me do this just to cool down, and I went all the way to the 4 miles- in 54 minutes!!!!!!! Yaaaaaay!
Hubby made dinner, but I was too overheated to really eat anything, so I'm just going to relax for a little while, recover, and drink plenty of fluids! Time to change my signature to add the new miles...woo hoo!
