Pokey, Celrae and Courtney,
I don’t know who originally suggested we have a challenge for those who wanted to track minutes instead of miles so I will address this to all three of you.
My concern is the hesitation I felt and new joiners are now expressing at the amount of weekly minutes they will have to post in order to stay up with the big minute producers in this challenge. I also worry about members feeling bad about their efforts when maybe their efforts were really good for them and their situation.
I would like to suggest the hardcore minutes challenge be like the trek pledges. Each hardcore lady pledges minutes for the week and strives to accomplish that instead of competing against each other.
What do You think?
I think everyone in this group has the strength and moxie to push their workouts and all are welcomed. My 540 min. this week was giving it my all and I am proud of that. When Pokey and you posted 800+ I was excited. This motivation tool has been working for me. I ran 1/4 mile tonight, it is hot and I would not have even ventured outside if it were not for this challenge. I understand that 2 hours a day of workouts is daunting and may push people away. If the group would like to not post min, that is fine. My maximum is about 700 min., I have all the usual road blocks, a very physical job, active kids, and a house to manage. Point is it is fine to be in the middle. I am excited to hear new ideas to keep this group moving and I appreciate the concern.
Take Care
I reread what you posted and I think you are right. We should pledge a number that works for us. I assume that all activities logged are the best effort for that person, it will be different for everyone. Runner may spend less time, but burn more calories, it is all not equal. Once again I am so happy to be pushing myself. Thanks!

Reason: add more
Iianae: OMG . . . Do you run on Sat or Sun . . . I run Sat at 9:30 . . . I had to go a bit on the early side as I work in the afternoon but if the weather is anything like today, I'll wish it was even earlier . . . You must live awfully close . . . MN or WI??? If you start at 10:00, then we'll probably finish about the same time (I run really SLOOOOOOOOOOOW) . . . I can't wait . . .
OMG! I run Saturday at 10:00am!! We should touch base so we can meet! I live in Minnesota, we map quested it and it's a 33 min drive from our house! Where do you live?
I'm VERY slow...been "training" since December and I STILL can't run more than 2 or 3 minutes at a time with a 3 to 4 minute walk break. Fail
Still waiting on a few more weekly loss reports to roll in but Sarge wants to address the issue of posting exercise minutes...
This thread is open to all who want to do whatever keeps them moving and motivated. No one has to sign up for anything they don't want to do. As a matter of fact, if you want to be taken off a list or challenge just PM Sarge or post a request in the thread. No sweat!
Sarge's only golden rule is that if you say you're going to do something DO IT! Keep working toward your goal until you achieve it or the world deals you such a shi*tty hand of cards that just completely knocks you on your a** and there is absolutely NO GETTING UP! Hospitalizations, death of an immediate family member and the like are not excuses, they are life.
Our group is popular. We're at a point where we post 500 times a week these days and we get over 5,000 views. We gain a member or two each week and we lose two or three. Between the pledge board, spreadsheet, fitocracy, side challenges etc. I don't want to get any more complicated, but the way things are going right now seems to be A-ok!
That's what Sarge thinks, just in case anyone is interested.
CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE ON THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS THIS WEEK! AWESOME JOB!
CHICKADEE:
Swimming would be great for my knee, but I don't have access to a pool. I used go to a gym faithfully, but haven't for over 10 years. I would definitely be embarassed to get into a bathing suit. The last time I wore a bathing suit, I was fit and still able to proudly wear a bikini. If I could find a pool that has a weekly session for the blind and friends, I might be tempted to put on a bathing suit, lol.
I work a 9-10 hour work day, so that doesn't leave much time for the gym after work. I find that working in aerobics during the day is the only way to maxamize available time - then there is the need to de-energize the dog, lol.
CHESHIRECAT:
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have to check out the Just Dance Games for the WII. I'm excited to give it a try - eager to have some fun with aerobics.
CELARE:
Thanks for the feedback on the WII. Have a great week, you can get back on track!
MYA:
Congrats on reaching "Won-der-land - Good Job! Getting to that status is my current mid-term goal (25 lbs to get there).
PEANUT:
Congrats on losing the Obese status. Hope you are feeling better! Thanks for suggesting The Biggest Loser game for the Wii. I definitely going to give it a try.
URTHWURM:
Good job! You should be buying those new shoes soon! What shoes will you buy, new athletic shoes or something dressy?

Reason: Correction
OK, it's TOOOOOOOOOOO HOT!!!
7PM weather said 90 degrees and feels like 104 and that was about an hour ago . . . UGH!!! and I ran in this soupy mess this AM . . . I MUST BE CRAZY!!! LOLOLOL
Iianae: I can't believe you're so close . . . I'd love to meet up. I live in Hudson, so about a 15 min drive for me . . . I guess I should mapquest it so I get to the right place at the right time . . . That's great you've been training since December . . . and what do you mean I can only run 2-3 minutes before I have to walk . . . 2-3 minutes is GREAT . . . You have to start somewhere, RIGHT???? I too am nervous . . . I'll PM you in a few minutes.
SARGE: OMG, we're almost at 500 posts . . . we're a chatty rag tag group . . . eh? (As they say in Minnesooooooooota . . . LOLOLOL, sorry local joke)
Peanut & BNH . . . you two are blowing this challenge out of the water . . . OMG . . . I want to step it up sooooo bad this week . . . but I think other plans are in the works right now . . . <sigh>
OK, EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT EVENING
Reso: Hoping you had a ONE-DER-FUL TIME ON THE LAKE
EDIT: Munchey, you might say I have knee issues also . . . Walking and biking work really well for me . . . I also did "The Biggest Loser Last Chance Workout" when I first started this journey . . . I had to modify things but it works well. i like ALL the Jillian Michaels videos but have to modify a few things. Also, I've found since I've dropped the weight my knee rarely hurts . . . it used to hurt EVERY DAY

I'm pretty new, and I can't physically keep up with the high minute or high mileage people.
But I love reading about the hardcore challenges, the C25K progress reports, all those things that are out of my reach right now. I think the head to head challenges are awesome, and I hope people keep making them.
It's incredibly encouraging to me to look at people who weren't active and now are. Or, like Reso, who was bigger than me when he started and now looks so fit and is so fit doing his millions of miles.
It gives me hope that what's out of reach today won't be in the future.
I am nothing official around here at all, but I know the answer to that question is yes. Sarge will see your post and add you to the list.
We start the week on Sunday. So, this is a brand new week. Everyone pledges how much they intend to lose that week. Then next Sunday, we see how everyone did. Day of Reckoning.
Do you know what you'd like to pledge to lose this week?
I really want to make 145 around the time school starts. That's 15lbs away for me. I could use a little more motivation.
Anyone interested in a race to 15 lb loss?
I'd take you up on it Kuri, but it wouldn't be a fair bout. I have so much to lose that I lose pretty quickly, and you're already so little. Not a fair contest. Someone else will probably take you up on it. Maybe Kittykat?
