Marmalade-valentines day was great. I was nice to spend a day at home together. I need to see what biggest loser dvd I have and pull it out sometime.
Dance-I had a run in with some chocolates yesterday. Chris bought a box and i had a few too many. Didnt have any today. I am definitely with you to try and lose 5 lbs. This plateau is on my last nerve.
I pampered myself today and got my hair cut and colored. I love it. I'll have to take pics later and post them on Facebook. Marmalade, do you use FB? I havent worked out yet but I will later.
Tomorrow I am going to tackle shoveling a spot at the top of our driveway so I can start parking my car up there cos its getting really slushy out there and would hate to get my car stuck down here by the house.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend, its almost over but I'll have the boys this weekend.
Marmalade: You are a workout machine! WTG!! How is the body feeling today?
Dance: Definitely with you on the 5 pound challenge! I gotta ramp this up too! Going to Florida in September but defintely have more than 5 to lose before then. Where is your vacation?
Allison: Can't wait to see pics! I haven't colored my hair in forever, just the upkeep alone is expensive out here. I'm going for a haircut next Saturday, can't wait. I have super thick hair that grows super fast, so I try to go every 8 weeks. It's been more than 10 this time. Do you color it all or do you do highlights? Are you getting the warmer weather that we are getting in Chicago? It's almost 50 here today!
Started the Paleo diet on Monday and I'm still going strong. Strange, I'm very rarely hungry between meals. Definitely a good thing. I can still eat fruit, veggies, lean protein, nuts and fish, just no breads/sugars/etc. I can tell it's starting to work - I'm feeling less bloated and I'm feeling better all around.
Worked out with Jeff twice last week and I'm going for 4 this week: M, W, F and Sunday. He's starting me on a 5 week strengthening workout that is supposed to be super tough (ex: one exercise is a walking lunge for 120 yards with a weighted bar over my head - then I have more to do!) I need a kick in the pants though - gotta lose all the weight I gained back. I weighed last Sunday and will weigh again this Sunday to see what difference the new diet is making.
Diet is good - the book comes with recipes that are flavorful and don't taste like diet food! I'm hoping this will work, but it's hard when Matt and Madeline are eating the "good stuff." Madeline had a peanut butter sandwich and cheetos for lunch (with fruit) and I wanted to dive into them, but I resisted. Then Matt had Mac and cheese with his dinner - nearly killed me. I'm getting through the rough first week and by this time next week, I'll be fine. I hope....
Hey dance I am doing good today only did .5 mile yesterday I was way too tired work a 10 hour day that was painful haha my feet were so sore omg! muscules are feeling good today first day of the week! There is a point in the dvd the woman says "pain is only temporary quiting is forever" and I was thinking that's so true but I bet she's never been out of shape cause I tell ya there was a point I wondered if it would ever stop hurting

maddiemom - Oh my word I'll send you some good vibes wow you'll have to tell us how it goes, I surely could not do a walking lunge for 120 yards with a weighted bar over my head. Sounds like things are going good has work slowed down any?
well ladies I am so super happy to say I am down 1lb and another 31/4" for the week brings me down 6 1/2" for the month! So happy I guess all that pain paid off
Worked like crazy yeaterday stright through lunch and dinner Didn't eat until 8pm thought for sure the scale would be up! I didn't get much of a workout in last night I was just too tired so I'm going to do some tonight after I take my son the see Billy the Exterminator at The World of Wheels probably get a lot of walking in there but I'll finish my miles at home after and I think I`ll do the full dvd tonight.
TTIF hope you all have a great Friday
maddiesmom - good for you on the paleo stuff!! what amazing will power you have. You are my hero, seriously!
burgundy - can't wait to see the hair pics - there's just something about changing up your look that gives you a whole new outlook. I need to take some pics too and show you guys my new-ish side bangs. Sometimes they drive me crazy but mainly I like them.
marmalade - congrats on the great results! You are doing so well!!
Went for a 3 mile run this morning (finally) and am going to track everything I eat in the next month in thedailyplate. Plan is to run 3x a week and walk twice. I'm a pound above ticker and that's just a sad sad thing. Bathing suit shape, here I come!
ETA - okay, doing good on food so far.
B: raspberries, skim milk
L: chicken breast, avocado slices
s: 2 string cheese
D: plan is szechuan chicken and veggies with brown rice
how's everyone else doing today?

Well ladies, I have to sing the praises of the paleo diet. Last Sunday I weighed myself and I was up A LOT from my lowest point, but up even more than my ticker showed. I stuck with the diet all week, didn't feel hungry and the recipes they gave were all pretty good. So the good news....
........I lost 9 pounds!!!! I was quite in shock to say the least, but I'll take it - whether it was water weight or whatever. So, officially, I am at 207 today. I'll take it. Only 1 minor cheat, which happened yesterday - had a small piece of Maddie's popcorn shrimp. I put a second in my mouth, thought about it, then spit it out in the garbage.
So, I am re-motivated and did Jeff's crossfit class today. I'm sore, but it was worth it. There were 3 others there with me, which helps to keep me motivated. The workout was hard, but worth it. I'm going back tomorrow for more!
I'm going with the hubby to take a tour of the other gym - trying to get him motivated to workout as well. This will be the gym I would go to do classes and cardio when I'm not working with Jeff. I plan to work out 6 days a week.
Dance: How are you feeling after your run? Are your knees ok? Did you get any other runs/walks in?
Marmalade: You are doing awesome! Keep it up! I plan on measuring as well, but want to wait until I get back to my lowest before I start measuring again, that's where I left off.
Allison: Absolutley love the pics of the new "do." Looks great on you.
Hope you are all having a great weekend. I'm going back to the kitchen to prep more food for this week (it's hard having to cook everything for myself, then a separate meal for the hubby, so I'm trying to make it as easy on me as possible.
my goodness lady that is fantastic!!! Wow 9lbs Great job keeping up with the meal plan I guess making two meals is really worth it
I am having a fantastic birthday weekend so far, friday did 50mins of biggest loser dvd and .5mile, spent an hour on the elliptical yesterday, 1hour & 40mins on the elliptical today and I'm feeling great!
Lots of eating out yesterday but I think I did really well. Had a 1/2 salmon sandwich on naan bread & a handful of yam fries for lunch, I was tempted to eat the whole sandwhich (it was so good) but I held back and I'm eating it now yumm. For dinner I had a chicken breast sandwhich and a salad, I did splurge and have a pink martini and a glass of white. For dessert I made 50calorie mousse with strawberries...it was more like 120 calorie with 2 strawberries but thats okay. My family brought a coffee cake but they were nice it was lemon, and I hate sweet lemon stuff so wasn't tempted...besides it was like 400 calories a slice which is stupid crazy totally not worth it
I was down another pound yesterday probably going to stay away from the scale until mid week just to be extra safe haha So far I'm really happy with myself I normally completely over indulge for my b-day so yaay!
Hope everyones weekend is going super great

Vicky-thanks for the comment on my hair. I love it. Its the shortest its been since I was 8 years old. CONGRATS TO YOU ON 9 LBS. That is just amazing. I might have to check this diet out. Your workouts with Jeff seem super hard. I am sure I would be dead by the end of one.
Marmalade-HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! You should join us on FB, Im Allison Brisendine Williams. We're all on there. Sounds like you did great on your birthday. I always seem to over indulge too. You need to add another little dancing guy to your signature, you've lost 15 lbs, thats great!!!!
Dance-I posted a couple pics on FB. Have to take some better ones though. Yea we wanna see your new hair too. Im a lb above ticker too right now. I am gonna get more miles in this week!!!
So hopefully Tuesday(if we dont get too much snow tonight and tomorrow) we are going to Frankenmuth MI , its "littleBavaria". We've never been so should be lots of fun and loads of walking. We're staying in a motel with 5 indoor pools, a putt put golf place, restaurants, shops. Its 7 acres all indoors. I am gonna get up early and get in some walks. Im not sure if it has a gym but I hope so. We'll be back Thursday. I want to stay all week, but I have the boys on Friday.
I have been horrible this week. I dont know what has gotten into me. I am getting back on track right now. I have been doing most of my workouts at night but that just keeps me energized and I cant sleep, so I am gonna try to get most in in the mornings. I havent worked out as much this week as I usually do and eating, ugh. I have done good with eating today, so hopefully I am getting back in the swing of things.
burgundy - wowza, love the new hair! Sleek and trendy!
maddiesmom - holy cow, or should I say holy paleo! 9lbs is amazing - you are a rock star!
marmalade - happy belated - great plan with the lemon dessert - I'm the same way - not worth wasting calories on lemon cakes
Got in another run yesterday and read an interesting article in women's health about running intervals being the best way to burn fat and get stronger so may start trying that tomorrow morning. Planning on running Tues and Thurs with a walk on Weds. How's everyone's week looking?
My name is Jacki, I started my healthy lifestyle/journey on Jan 2nd of this year. I eat whole foods. My motto is: If you can't grow it, don't eat it. Currently I workout to Power 90 (6 days a week), Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred (2 days a week), and at the gym (5 nights a week).
Looking forward to getting to know all of you better!
welcome, Jacki! sounds like you are making great progress! are you doing multiple workouts a day? that sounds like quite a schedule.
okay, so the tuesday run didn't happen this morning. I'm going through a really sleep heavy phase where I just can't get enough sleep for some reason. I think I slept around 9.5 hrs last night - not quite sure what's up with that. Does it ever happen to you guys?
Dance: that does happen to me. For the past few weeks, I've been falling asleep with Madeline. Last night I fell asleep at 8:30! Maybe it's the weather?? It's snowy and cold here, how about you?
Jacki: Welcome! Your workout schedule is super busy! How do you stay motivated (just curious). Do you have a specific eating plan? WW, etc?
Well, I'm still going strong on Paleo - weighed myself this morning and found out that I lost another 1/2 pound, and that's after working out last night. I'm not missing the breads, pasta, but I am missing my sugar - chocolate specifically. Guess I will get used to it. The food on the plan is pretty decent - right now I'm eating shrimp ceviche and fresh fruit.
Had my workout with Jeff last night - it was like a personal training session since no one else signed up. I definitely like having the one on one with him. Workout was hard, but he's pushing me, and I need that right now. Anyone else want to do it???
75 reps of each exercise:
box jumps
push ups
kettlebell squat swings
pull ups
knee ups (hanging from a chin up bar, etc, pulling your knees up to your chest)
Lots of fun, and I'm sore today. going back tomorrow for more!
Yes, I workout multiple times a day. I go to the gym Thursday - Monday, alternating strength (15 min warm-up on the elliptical, and about 1 hr with the weight machines, working out my whole body) and cardio (30 mins treadmill 30 mins elliptical) days. I do Power 90 Thursday - Tuesday. I do 30 Day Shred on my days off from work, alternating on weeks from Mon and Tues, to Thurs and Fri. I get 1 full day off, Wednesdays. That is tomorrow!
I just ask myself "what do I want more". The answer is there! I want to live a long healthy life. Enjoy my family, and friends. I hate feeling embarrassed about my weight. Not enjoying vacations! I am tired of living that way. This past Friday I re-injured my knee (years ago, I injured my knee, the ACL ruptured and disintegrated), but I didn't let it stop me. In the past, it would have. The only difference I did with my workouts (Fri - Mon) were no run lunges (P90), and only doing 30 mins on the treadmill. Tonight is cardio at the gym, and I will be doing the elliptical and treadmill. I know I can do it!
As far as food, I eat whole foods. Raw/cooked veggies, fruit, lean meat, herbs, nuts, beans, whole grains. I stay away from sodium (I use an organic 21 spices and ingredients, no sodium seasoning), sugar, and starchy carbs. Every morning, I drink a protein smoothie. I use 1/2 cup of soy or coconut milk, 1/4 cup apple juice, 2 cups of spinach or kale, 1 scoop of whey protein (Muscle brand), 1 tablespoon of flaxseed, 1 tablespoon psyllium husk, 1/8 cup walnut halves, 1 banana, and 6 - 7 frozen strawberries. It is VERY good!
What kind of exercise/food plan are you girls on? Maddiesmom, that workout routine looks great!
