aj - great to hear from you! we all come and go to some degree depending on what's going on in our lives so come hang out whenever it works for you and don't even worry about it when you need a break or life gets in the way. How are things in seattle? what's your latest diet and exercise approach? how can we help?

Missed you guys this weekend but it was nice to get in some hiking in the warm sunshine down in Tucson. Low 70s, pretty perfect outside weather. We may have to make this or something like it an annual tradition I think the sunshine helped me *finally* get over the last of whatever sinus junk I was dealing with so I'm super thrilled to be back to healthy again. Eating was not perfect but could have been worse. I'm planning on a run tonight after work as it's not supposed to be too too cold but may switch that for walking on the treadmill if the weather doesn't cooperate. A girlfriend of mine is coming to spend the week with me starting this weekend (she'll be working on her travel business during the week) and she's super active and health oriented so I'm looking forward to having a workout buddy and extra encouragement to make healthy meals.

burgundy - how was the b-day shindig? Hope it was lots of fun.

maddiesmom - I know things are still crazy - hope you're hanging in there!

marmalade - nice job on the workouts! and the skinny jeans! that's such a fun feeling.

Will check in again later...

Dance- My current diet is crap with no exercise...
but I am going back to my old diet of 3 protein, 3 veggies, 2 fruits and 2 brown starches a day.

I tried some stupid fad diet this weekend and lasted 3 days. I know the right way to lose and that was not it.

How is everyone? Who all is here. Who is new to me? =)

Hey girls, quick check in. Busy week with the boys. I had a bad weekend with food. Did good at the party, didnt have cake, but I ate crap the rest of the weekend and yesterday. It showed on the scale this morning but I know its not true weight so I am not stressing. I did ok today. Have the boys again tomorrow. Its always a challenge for me at their house, I just want to eat. At least I can still get in a workout over there. I think I am cutting out slimfast. I only lost a lb doing it and I feel hungry. Maybe 1200/1400 calories just isnt enough. How many calories is everyone eating these day???

AJ-welcome back.

Dance-70s outside sounds wonderful. Its been in the teens and lower here. Today was a heat wave at 30. Glad you are feeling better now.

Marmalade-another half a pound, you are doing awesome. Good job with walking in the mall and eating at subway. I had subway for lunch yesterday. Yay for smaller jeans fitting!!!

Vicky-how is work? Slowed down any?

aj - sounds like a good but strict plan. I've been winging it and it has not been working - I'm up a few and I'm apparently having too many treats along the way to make a difference. Back to calorie tracking for me apparently!

burgundy - what kind of workout will you fit in with the boys?

I'm planning on working from home tomorrow morning and fitting in a run then so maybe I can get back in some kind of routine.

Hope you all are doing great...

ETA - food so far today:
B: 2 kiwis, TLC honey almond bar
L: Trout, green beans, garlic couscous

Hi ladies,

Just a quick check in...

AJ: Welcome back! Glad to "see" you again. How are things with you? Still in Seattle?

Not really feeling up to the entire update thing...went to the doctor today and found out that I have Influenza A, and they are hoping it's not swine flu. I'm completely floored, absolutely no energy and they can't give me anything to help me feel better. I'm just hoping that Madeline doesn't get it. The doc was able to give me something to help shorten the duration, but no guarantees. Also got a prescription for Madeline to help her for getting it.

I haven't been at work since Monday and I probably won't be back until next Monday. They did make an offer to someone for my old job, but I am going to have to take the time to train him, but that's ok. It's going to be a tough transition, especially since I haven't been at work for a week.

Hope everyone is doing well, or at least better than I am. I'm really not eating much, just drinking a lot of fluids and getting plenty of bedrest. Not much else I can do at this point.

Dance-the boys were both sick so their mom ended up coming home after 3 hours so I didnt workout there. I did a workout on Your Shape.

Vicky-so sorry you are sick. Swine flu?? Yikes, really hope its not that and the meds keeps Maddie from getting it. Get lots of rest. How long can it possibly last? Feel better soon!!!!!

maddiesmom - Oh that's horrible hopefully plenty of fluids and rest will do the trick. I've heard some people are out with it for weeks I can't even imagine you poor thing! Hope you feel better soon

I'm down .5lb this morning after 4 days of eating well and 3 hours of excerise I'm kind of annoyed and so tired! Almost at my workout goal for the month so I'm gonna keep on going hopefully the next few days I'll be down another l pound. I have noticed I'll loose .5 lb for 3 or4 days in a row and then nothing for 3 or 4 days so we'll see I guess. Still better then nothing so I'll take it!

maddiesmom - ohhh, sweetie - I'm so very sorry you're dealing with that right now. How incredibly tough! You've had more than your share lately - two jobs, the back issues, and now dealing with this. I've only had the flu badly once and I pretty much spent a week in bed watching dvds. Can your hubby get you a stack of them from the library or something? Hang in there and hope you feel better soon.

burgundy - good for you for getting in your exercise. Wanna join me for miles or the Wii equivalent today? I'm going to try to get in a 3 mile run this morning while I work from home.

Did pretty good with food yesterday and the scale is cooperating - back to 174 at least after nudging upwards for a few days which was depressing. I'm going to stick to tracking everything on the dailyplate for the next two weeks to see if that can get me back into better habits.

Have a great day, girls! I will be back later to report in on food for the day as that holds me accountable.

ETA:
Marmalade - didn't see your post when I was first writing this one. You are doing great!! Weight loss is just not a linear thing and good behavior isn't always visible on the scale the next day or even that week. Keep up the great work and you will see results!

Got in my run and food has been on plan if a little limited so far.
B: TLC bar, pear
L: 2 string cheese, 4 cuties
Don't know yet on dinner but definitely a big salad with healthy fats as I'm missing the whole veggie food group so far today.

Hey Chicks,
Is everyone as tired as me this week?
I feel like this week has been a doozie I'm so tired. Didn't want to get in a workout tonight but I did (got in a mile) mostly because I went a little crazy snacking this afternoon, I ransacked my sons snack drawer....don't know what my problem was. After a granola bar, a pack of fruit snacks (100% fruit I say that like it makes it better haha) and 4 chocolates I stumbled upon I started to feel a bit sick too much sugar I think.
Going to shower have a tea and go to bed hopefully with out anymore snacks
Heres hoping the scale will be friendly tomorrow....

Going to get in an hour of working out in a moment I have a sudden rush of energy so I'm going to put it to good use

I'm going to say I am down another .5lb today I must have weighed myself about a dozen times my scale couldn't decide kept going from -.5lb to -1lb so I'm going with 1/2 for today just to be safe.

Think I'll get in 1.5 mile this weekend and about an hour of weights and such.
We are expecting about 7-8 inches of snow this weekend so think I'll stay in most of the weekend
Meeting a friend who kind of tests my nerves these days) for a light lunch at Tims and she wants to go for icecream after...I don't know about that we'll see we're going to Coldstone Creamery I have heard they have lower fat/calorie options but I think none is probably better haha

Hope everyone has a great weekend only 3 more days left in january WOW that's scary!! Where did the time go

So I forgot my hubby has informed me this week that he has lost almost 10 pounds in the time I have lost 11.5. I have been working my butt off and watching everything (okay so like 90% of the time) evrything I eat while he walks for 30min a day and finishes his day off by eating a .5bag or a full bag of chips every night just before bed
I mean it's great news and I am really happy for him! haha What is it with men?

down another .5lb today woohoo

I have been on track workout wise for january so I guess next month I need to keep a better eye on what I eat. 5lbs in a month is really good and there are two days left in the month...maybe I can shave off another pound still

Just finished shovelling we had 5" of snow overnight, and are expected another 3-5" by morning and another 2-3 for tomorrow **yuck** got in a good workout last night and today. The shovelling is a bonus so I guess the snow is a good thing...maybe haha

Hope everyones weekends are going well, going to try and stay inside where it is warm and dry

Marmalade-I am gonna come workout and eat with you. I want to lose 5 lbs in a month. Ive only lost 1 lb this month. I have to reevaluate everything I am doing. That snacking day didnt even throw you off track. Its just not fair how fast men can lose. My hubby has lost a lot of weight since we got married and doesnt even try. Shoveling, yuck, I have to do that tomorrow.

Dance-I did dance the other day to join you for "miles". Just didnt check in that day. I guess I need to track everything too.

I really really really want a streetstrider for the spring/summer. Looks like so much fun. The one I want is almost $2000, maybe there will be a sale soon.

Cleaned my whole house today while Chris was gone. Rearranged the bedroom. Its hard moving a king size bed by yourself but I did it. I was sweating after all that.

Talking to my sister in NZ but need to workout some more tonight but its 10 already. Oh well, I can never fall asleep until 2 or 3 these days. Dont know what that is about.
