Quick check in. I've been so blah lately. I haven't worked out in almost 3 weeks. I just can't bring myself to do it. I've been keeping up with my food, but I've been letting myself have around 1500 calories a day again, and the losses have stopped. In fact, I'm up to 174.4 this morning, after a new low of 172.0 on Saturday. It could be water retention though, I drank 7.5 bottles of water yesterday. I usually only have 4 or 5.
I'm not down about it, just disappointed in myself. I'm letting stuff get to me and push me off course. DH's ex keeps trying to rear her ugly head and threaten us with taking the kids away (we have them 5 days/week), and DH has a job interview today. The job thing is a good one, but we've been busy preping him for it. He really needs it, he hates his current job.
So, the weather is supposed to be warm for the next few days, so I told DH under no circumstances am I NOT getting a walk in today. I don't care what is going on, I am exercising. I even bought the new Wii Fit plus a few weeks ago and it's still sealed. Ugh. I need some
Nella-Get out there and move, woman! You deserve to carve out some time for exercise. It'll make a big difference once you make it a regular part of your day. Sorry to hear you've been blah. I know it's so hard to break out of that sometimes. It sounds like life has dealt you some stress lately (darn ex!), but try not to stress about stuff you can't control. Good luck to hubby on the interview!
Sandye-Great to hear you're more energetic today! On the off plan eating, mine is almost 100% habit....food looks good or sounds good and I eat it because I want to and I keep eating it because it tastes good. No deep psychological damage causing it! I just love yummy food!! DH is the same, so we can really get into trouble! LOL Now, I just try not to allow much temptation at home and I've gotten a lot better about controlling eating out situations. I figure eating something off plan is no big tragedy every once in awhile, that's just life. The thing for me is to not OVEReat anything (stop when I'm satisfied) and to only eat off plan on occassion (a couple times a month or so), not regularly. I don't always get it right, but I get better almost every time and I figure I'm just practicing for maintanence!
SG-Oh you made that meal sound so yummy! Tonight I'm making a stir-fry full of yummy veggies! It's become my new favorite here. I love it! Congrats on getting to your goal! That is so inspiring. You are really making every month count!! Hope the grading goes by quickly. I know it can be time consuming. Have a great day!
I saw it...BARELY. Today I weighed in at 139.8 which is a cruel scale joke, I think. Seriously! A .2 loss after continued OP eating and exercising?! Oh well, I'l take it! It's the 130's after all. My muscles are still sore from ST'ing on Monday which is unusual, so maybe my body is reacting to that. Slow and steady... Anyway, I've been super proud of myself lately since I've been baking up a storm for DD's class. I guess once a semester each child in her class has to provide the afternoon snacks for the class. I decided to bake those yummy chocolate chip muffins Sandye posted for one day, regular chocoalte chip cookie bars for another day, and I'm finishing up the cupcakes for tomorrow. For the other days, I bought pretzles and stuff. The cupcakes are a Weight Watchers recipe. I figured our family will only be left with 1 per person so we can try them at home after we take the ones for dd's class. If they're any good, I have a great new light version of yummy cupcakes without using cake mix (and of course, I'll share it with you lovely ladies!). Anyway, the beauty is that in all this baking I've managed to only eat one small portion of each treat (1 mini muffin, 1 small cookie bar, and I plan to try the cupcakes, too) to try them out and see if they're worth re-making. I also made a raisin bran muffin recipe, but it's pretty heavy and different. I have enjoyed them as a breakfast alternative when time is short. They're alright, but it wasn't love at first bite, so I didn't think it was share-worthy. So, I'm out of the 'afraid to bake' closet. My biggest discovery is that I should make cookies in the form of cookie bars....much less opportunity to eat the dough since it all goes in right away and the kids eat them MUCH slower that regualr cookies for some reason. I think they're fantastic since they're thick, soft and delicious and cut into fairly uniform bars so I can more easily calculate cals and stuff. Chocolate chip cookies are among my many achilles heels in the food world, so to find a better way to make them without going off the deep end is SO great! Enough about food though. All is well with food, exercise, water and vitamin. I would say this month has been my best in a very long time. You wouldn't know it from the #'s on the scale necessarily, but I feel good and know I'm making permanent changes, so it's all good! The other super cool thing is having DH on board (with the food part anyway). He's lost around 30 pounds now and seems to really love the fact that he's making positive changes and realted progress on the scale. He's only 6-7 pounds from the "overweight" category on the BMI chart which is his big goal right now. I'm really proud of him for trying now. It's something I don't push at all and just hope he continues to make healthy choices. It makes it LOTS easier for me!

So ... no good news for me ... up a pound over the weekend and I know exactly why and I feel terrible about it, however just a small set back (could've been a lot worse!) back OP since Monday and gained no weight since then so I am hopeful that I will see some kind of drop on Friday *Fingers Crossed".
On a brighter note, I did have a very big NSV yesterday! My work collegue bought in homemade pumpkin muffins and I did not even consider eating one! Yay for me! She tried so hard to get me to eat on ALL DAY LONG but I did not cave in! There was also a very delicious looking chocolate cake for someones birthday and that too I politely declined! *woot woot*.
Sooooo overall I am a little dissapointed with no weight loss but happy at the same time because I can see the changes in my lifestyle taking place and that makes me feel super good and excited to move on and lose this weight!
I hope you all have a fabulous day and remember it is ok to say NO, I don't want that muffin!
Jessicado - You’re stuff on Etsy is awesome! I really love the animal ones and the sushi and salad are adorable, I would love to order those for my kitchen, I‘m gonna have to see how hubby thinks it would go with the cats. I’m glad that it is going well and that you are busy with lots of orders.
Jasonslea - Congrats on catching yourself and stopping with one. That is awesome. As SG said, that is progress. Don’t beat yourself up over it, just move one. I hope the test goes well.
Sandye - I’m sorry at the stress over the pictures. I hope it goes smoothly and quickly from now on. Congrats on the early workout, the better mood, and getting the weekend weight put back in its place.
SG - Congrats on the 198! Also congrats on skipping the brownies.
Kim - Hashbrowns happen. I’m sorry you are feeling bad about it, I hope the workout goes well. I also hope you don’t beat yourself up over it too much.
Nella - I hope your hubby’s interview goes well. Blah sucks, walks help, go walk. Wii Fit is also great fun. Have you used the first one before getting plus or is plus your first go at it? Either way, get the thing open and get on the board!
Ms P - Yay for baking. And good job only trying a small portion of each. That is awesome that hubby is in the game now too. Mine wants to get fat, actually wants to. He is not allowed right now since he is government property, but I am worried for him that he wants to and in 5 years he won’t be air force anymore.
Lauren - I am sorry about the scale. Good job on refusing the muffins and cake as well as not letting the scale get to you too much.
MY C25K workout last night sucked. I just could not do what I was supposed to do. I didn’t stop though, I just did what I could and I’ll do better tomorrow. I did manage to run 2 7mph sprints of 30 seconds each though, that was awesome. Hubby ran 2 1 minute sprints at 15mph, he’s insane. I spent about an hour last night prepping treat bags for the trick or treaters and did not eat even one piece of candy. I had made sure not to buy any of my favorites and I did the prepping right after dinner, so I wasn’t hungry at all. I had eaten a nice dinner of roast duck, polenta, and mediterranean veggies, I did not need any candy. BTW chicks, garlic dill polenta goes extremely well with roast duck. I have also finally managed, after 21 days!, to kick TOM to the curb - woohoo. I am feeling so good right now that I wish I had a mountain I could climb.
iDream~ Good to hear no babies are coming and you’re feeling better!
Nella~ Sorry to hear about your DH’s ex… Let me know how Wii fit works out, I really want to get it, but am not sure if it is worth the money…
Ms Perception~ 130s!!! YAY!!! That’s awesome that DH is also seeing some success!
LaurenA~ Awesome job turning down the evil food! You’ll lose that extra pound in no time!
FitGirlyGirl~ TOM for that long!? YIKES! Great job not eating the candy! That is one bonus to living in the middle of no where, we get no trick or treaters and therefore don’t buy any extra candy.
Those hashbrowns must have really filled me up this morning because I couldn’t even finish half of my salad. While it is a good sized salad, I could normally house the whole thing no problem. So I’m wondering if I should add something else to my morning breakfast routine to help fill me up (other then hashbrowns). Right now I normally will eat 1 apple and a single serving of Fiber One Honey Oat Cereal with skim milk. Usually by 11:30 I’m starving, but today I only ate part of my salad because it was lunch time and I knew I wouldn’t have another chance to eat until 3 (and by then I probably would be pretty hungry). I am currently finishing the 1/3 of pomegranate I brought in as it is AMAZING! If I can keep my energy up I am totally going to go to the gym after school today and kick some serious butt!
Thanks girls! I needed a swift kick in the pants. I'm determined to work out for at least one hour today. Nothing will get in my way!! Sandye will be proud of me though, I've been a water drinking fiend the last few days.
As for the Wii Fit. I really like it. We've had it for about a year, and even the kids like to play the challenges. I'll let you know how the expansion game is.
**Edit to add: Holy cow - October is almost over!!!! I have 3 days to see 170 on my scale! I better be sweating my sorry behind off - no excuses!!!**
shrinking girl- I know its been a few days since you mentioned this, but just wanted to give you a HUGE congrats on making it into onderland. I only hope I can get there one of these days. And 9 lbs is great! You might even be lower by months end.
jen7- Yay for the 7lbs this month, that is a very respectable and healthy loss.
shrinking amy- Yay for almost being in the 120's. Sooo close And even if your body goes up and down a few, I'm sure it will all balance out.
sweettooth- Awesome! You just blew your goal right out of the water.
I'm sure you will make it to the 160's this month, you are sooo close.
givtlc- Yay for being down another 2.8lbs.
miss malle- That sounds interesting. What kind of plan is it? Did you get it from the dr?
Sandye- Aww if you are MIA, we are certainly going to miss you. But I guess you do have ppl IRL that need you as well...sigh. (lol)
jasonlea- I'm a lil behind, but congrats on your big loss last week. And good luck on the test.
nella- Sorry about your scale. That happened to me last week too. I was eating good (not perfect, but within a good calorie range) and everyday the scale kept creeping up. Unfortunatly, I was so mad I pigged out all weekend, but now the scale is almost back down to where it was supposed to be last week. Just ride it out, make the right decisions and it will go down again.
MsP- Whoo hoo on being under 140. 138.8 is still below 140 and it will just continue that downward trend with all your hardwork.
As for me, I am finally stepping up to the C25K challenge. I started last Wed, but I didn't have my W1D2 workout until this Monday, so I'm going to extend the first week until Friday. I did it today during lunch and it wasn't as bad as Monday. I'm doing it on the treadmill and during the runs, I am doing 6mph and then for the 90 sec walks, going down to 3.8-4mph. So I'm getting in about 1.75 miles during the 25 min workout. I'm hoping that when and if I get through all the weeks, I can finish the 5k in 30 minutes. Also today I'm going to workout with my trainer after work and hes going to check my progress. I guess that means checking my body fat and measuring me. I will let you guys know how that went, but wish me luck. I am a little nervous.
Ladies please inform me if I miss someone or something is incorrect in our list, just give me a holler! Also, we have a sister thread titled "October Exercise Challenge" for those of you who wish to join in there as well. HI girlssssss IT's late and I'm very tired but wanted to say hello , give u a big hug and congratulateeeee you on the losses!
MsP and Tummygirl.....congratsssssssss on the healthy BMI ....that is awesome! SG, congratulations on hitting onderland and nellonello! Congratulations to all of you ladies on your goals, weight loss and all of your successess! Keep on shining girls . Chat soon.
So, I got enough kicks today to get me going again. Man it felt god to be outside in the warm again! It's been cold the last few weeks, but it's in the 80's again now.
I went for my walk and decided to see how well I could do jogging. I went longer than I ever have! I have a hard time keeping up a steady jog because of my asthma, but it felt so good to be doing it!
Played with the Wii Fit Plus tonight too. I liked it, and it has a weigh your pet or baby thing that my SD 's thought was hilarious, you even make a little kitty or puppy Mii for them . So our cats weigh 10, 10 and 6 pounds. Lol.
Hey Everyone! There were so many posts since I last checked I"m not even going to attempt personals! But congrats to all of you have had scale victories and NSV's... for those of you struggling (as I have this week!) keep your head up and keep moving!
I was in a funk this week and ended up taking two days off working out but somehow still managed to surpass my weekly exercise minutes goal, so that was cool. I'm still kinda in the funk but I am slowly coming out! I ran W4D2 of C25K today and I won't lie, it was tough! but I made it through.... barely!
Hey all,
I hope you all are on track wit your goals. There are so many wonderful ladies here with amazing goals. COngrats shasha17a for meeting your goal.
OMG we are so close to the end of the month its amazing. I am still stuck at 171 and so no progress towards 160 yet. The first few pounds came off so quick i couldn't believe it. Maybe i should wait till saturday atleast and see how it goes.I HOPE I REACH 160s.
I have been good I think with my food. Just had 1 slip with 2 cookies and some wine yesterday with friends at a late dinner.
Maybe that is why the scale hasn't budged. I will finally get my a-ss out of bed early tomorrow and go grocery shopping. ANyways catch ya all soon. Bye
Good Morning girls!
Hope your all having a good morning! I must say all in all October has been pretty good to me! I have sorta caught up in my reading, at the same time chasing after a 8 month old who is pulling herself up on everything including me lol.
Shrinking Girl- WOW on onederland! Amazing!
Fit girly girl- 50lbs gone such a success!
Sweettooth- the 60's is an amazing feeling, for once in my life I feel full of life!
TummyGirl- Congrats on the normal BMI!!!
Nella- I love the no excuses attitdue, I think attitude is 100% of weight loss!
Idream- I was wondering what sort of yoga videos are you doing? I am curious to start yoga!
October has been a crazy month for me! I must say I stayed focused on making healthy choices and making time for exercise to give me a total of 9lbs loss, the scale said 161.6 this am!! *So Excited* I can see 50's in the near future!! I can't believe it yet! My grandma is recovering well, but does have some speach impairement and has some paraylisis on her right side. But I am praying for a good recovery. I have really had an amazing year on maternity leave, I have been focused on being healthy in an exercise and food way, but I am really leaning towards being healthy in mind and spirit as well. I have been doing some reading, and have been trying to change to a more positive thinking and self esteem. I am also proud to say my family is beginning a transformation as well! My boyfriend started this week on a lifestyle change, and he has had successful weight loss thus far. I am so excited!! Anyways I must quit my ramblings, I am looking forward to hearing new recipies, continued success, and any other tips you ladies can provide! Have a happy Thursday!
