Morning girls! I hope everyone rested well! i don't have a lot of time.... I am headed off to the big city (Knoxville) to do some CRUISE SHOPPING!!!!!!!!!
FSA- OH YOU, cleaning frenzy!!! I hope you can move today, It sounds like you really worked your tail off, but ohhhhhh gotta love a clean house!

Delphi, I use hot tea in the evening to help keep me from snacking! Fullsteamahead had actually reminded me of it, and it works REALLY well. I sit with my tea, as my husband munches his chips/salsa, pretzels, nuts, whatever! If you don't really like the taste of plain tea, there are all kinds of flavors. I use Stevia ( a natural sweetner), I get it at ingles in the sugar isle. It tastes great, mmmmm. Best of all, No Calories, and increased water intake! Good luck!
OK quickly, I had 1496 calories yesterday! WOOOWhOOOO! I did not "exercise", but did pull some weeds in between rain storms, and played in yard with the dog!!!! So, all in all a POP day!
Love ya ladies, I gotta run! Everyone keep it together today!

Thanks! I've never been much of a tea drinker and I can honestly say I've never had any variation of tea, other than regular ol' sweet tea. However, at this point, I am willing to try anything---within reason---to most effectively achieve my goals. Thanks again.

adding a little milk to the tea makes it a little more filling, too...a pretty harmless way to deal with the nighttime munchies!

also, at night, once i've brushed my teeth i'm much less likely to snack because then i know i'll have to brush them again...

That's a good thing right? I think I'll pick me up some green tea when I go out today and just see how I like it.

Thanks for the advice and yeah brushing my teeth always helps as well. I think I need some kind of project to work on the evenings so I'm not bored out of mind though.

Hi Ladies! Let's make today a great OP day!!

Delphi, sweet tea, lol! You can tell you're a TN chick!! (Nashville is my hometown!) Green tea is an excellent choice. It has so many great properties, it's so healthy for you, and it's a natural appetite suppressant. However, don't add milk to green tea. It interferes with its antioxidants. I often add milk to black tea, but never green. Also, I wish I liked artificial sweeteners, but I just don't, so I use good old-fashioned sugar. (That little bit isn't going to hurt me, unlike the amount in sweet tea, which, of course, I LOVE, lol! )

Lewis, have fun cruise clothes shopping!! That cruise is so getting close now!! Woohoo! And congrats on staying POP!! You are just doing a great job!!

FSA, great job on all the housework!! Incredibly, as bad as I felt, I still managed to get some major housework done yesterday, not as much as I would have liked, but at least some. I live in a huge pre-Victorian beautiful old house, built in 1840. It is just lovely with 100% large-plank hardwood floors, black walnut woodwork, 12 rooms, 6 of them bedrooms, 10 fireplaces, 12 ft ceilings, 2 staircases. It's on the National Register of Historical Places, and honestly, it's like living in a house I'd go tour on vacation somewhere in Virginia! But even better because it was the cost of a "normal" everyday house because it's just in small-town Ohio! Woohoo! I fell in love with it immediately and I've loved it just as much ever since! However, it takes LOTS of cleaning, lol! I don't mind because I love to care for it, but it's not something I want to get behind on!

Musiclover, no change can be good! It's not a gain, and that to me, is always good!!

Canadianangel, I am so sorry to hear about your stress fracture! How long did the doctor think it would take to heal completely? You be sure to follow his instructions to a tee! Can you swim with it? That might be a good alternative if you have access to a pool.

Hi Jacque and Michelle! You guys are up bright and early today! Not surprising for you Joci, lol! I am sorry to hear about your trouble sleeping though!

Most certainly! It is definitely plentiful in these parts. Is there a certain brand that is better than others? Or is a generic one just as good?

Good Morning Ladies!!!

Sounds like there's a ton of house cleaning goin' on! Woo hoo! I could sure use some cleaning/purging vibes if you have any extra to give away!

For those of you who asked, the scale I bought (aka my new Best Friend ) is a Taylor Cal Max Electronic Scale. It was $30 and I'm pretty sure you can find them everywhere that sells scales. It seems to be the only brand I can find around here--in CA there were lots of different brands, but not here--strange...

Anyway, I made a mistake yesterday when I posted. I wasn't 183.6, I was 182.6. I got flubbed up somehow and didn't realize my mistake until I weighed in last night and checked my BMI (it's a different function than just weighing) and it showed the info from the last time I checked it and it was 182.6. And here I was thrilled with 183.6!!!

I did my 30 Day Shred last night and I'm feeling it. However, I managed to work my lower body this morning despite the pain, now I'm in agony. LOL Oh well, at least it's a good kind of pain.

Down a tiny bit this morning as well 182.2 when I woke up 181.8 after my workout (although I'm sure that was a bit of dehydration) so we'll call it 182.2. Oh I'm lovin' this scale! Haha!

Great tips for avoiding late night snacking! I never think to drink tea except in the Winter. I'm not a big iced tea fan (although sweet tea is yummy) but I do love a nice hot cup of tea when it's cold out.

Let's talk water. How is everyone doing? Are you getting at least 64oz in everyday? Those of you who are--share some tips please! I know I used to struggle with water intake and it's usually the first thing to go when I start to backslide. I have a 64oz jug that I fill up every morning after I have my coffee (oh yes, I drink coffee--but I've actually cut back from 2 large cups to just one!) and I try to carry it with me wherever I go. I drink water while I fold laundry, while I'm checking my email, reading this thread, basically, all the time. I used to tell myself, "you can have that 2nd cup of coffee only after you've finished your water!" and it worked. Now I'm usually finished with my water by lunch or I'm finishing it up with lunch. I then fill up my jug again and anything else I get in is gravy. Another thing I love to do is put a lot of ice in it--I'm a big ice eater, so that helps me a lot.

So, ladies, congrats on all the great work--household and weigh-wise!! Woo hoo!! We're almost a full week into this challenge and we're ROCKIN'!!! Keep up the fantastic work!

Now go out and have a great day and remember...

Be Sure To Drink Your Water!!!!

Before I started, diet coke was the only liquid I consumed. When I say consume, I mean, I should own stock in diet coke as I drank so much. So, I had to find a way for water to actually taste good for me when I made this transition and the only way I can do that is with nearly frozen water. I have a 24oz bottle that I keep in the freezer over night, then take it out and let it thaw out a little and keep adding water to it periodically throughout the day. So my water is always freezing cold. I'm a big crushed ice nut so icy water was ideal for me and it definitely has worked thus far. Plus I've heard in circles that the colder your water, the harder the body will work to stabilize the near freezing temperture. Essentially burning more calories. I also keep more than one, alternating them at times periodically during the days.

When I researched green teas back when I first started drinking it years ago, Celestial Seasonings was supposed to have the greatest antioxidant properties of the types you can by at the grocery. I'm not sure if that's because it has a shorter shelf life (which is important) from manufacturer to store or if it's because of the blend. But I get the Celestial Seasonings green tea with lemon honey ginseng. If you get just the plain green tea, I would add just a few drops of lemon, because although green tea and black tea are actually the same plant (just one is picked sooner), the green tea can have what I call a grassy taste, and the lemon takes that away, just like it takes the bitter out of black tea.

morning ladies always so nice to come in and read everyones posts.

Delphi, Night time eating was my biggest hurdle and probably worst eating habit. Before signing up here, I think I spent nearly a month just getting myself on an eating schedule and getting that down. My eating was all over the place at the time, no lunch, a large dinner and then late night eating. Real bad! Anyways, I can tell you w hat happened with me and what helped me. Watermelon! I also found that the sooner i nipped it in the bud the sooner I would break myself of the habit. Not at all easy at first, I would lay there awake and not able to sleep!! So anyways, I would get a big watermelon and precut some and put it in tupperware in the fridge. Drink plenty of water at night like the girls said then if I found myself ravenous or I had to have something, I would have watermelon. Sometimes, I would actually get out of bed and eat it (late night) so I could sleep for pete sakes! lol. True, watermelon is high in natural sugars and the glycemic index but it also is mostly composed of water and very low cals which is great. It filled me up and worked for me! Cucumbers are composed of a lot of water and are great too! I did that for maybe a week? Don't recall exactly how long I needed it but after a while I didn't need it at all and was ok without anything after my dinner cut off point (7:30 the latest). That is how I trained myself. I forced myself to eat during the day and just got myself on a schedule. Hope this helps. Also, you mentioned a project! Absolutely, keeping busy will help you a lot. Good luck with it and keep us posted : ).

Hi Jacquee , Hope you slept better last night. When you give it a try girl, let us know how it works out for you and in the mean time keep on truckin

Lewisempire, ohhhhh, cruise shopping sounds like fun! I hope you are having a super time and do tell us about it after I love to hear, hope you found some real neat stuff. WTG on your cals yesterday : )

Hi Michelle

Jacqui, your home sounds lovely indeed! I really like victorians, they h ave a special charm. The walking route I take is lined with brick sideways and historical homes including victorians. This time of year when everything is in bloom, it is unbeleivable! There is wisteria, and just so many flowers...I really enjoy it. Falling behind is never fun. That's great you were able to do some things even with TOM, there have been plenty of times that I fall behind with TOM on everything and I hate that. Hope today is even better for you and that your feeling well

Hi canadian angel, congrats on the scale going down for you

Hi crazymoma, congrats on the loss, your doing great! Regarding the water, I like mine ice cold! I have a big mug (about 16oz) or I use those 16 oz. cups. I put lot's of ice in my cup and at night i have it right by my side in the living room and sip on it all night. In the morning, I do my big ice coffees and continually water them down (like now). I have a gallon jug of water up here and keep refilling the cup and sipping while I am here typing, I also do that at night while I am here. Some people do not care for plain water and find it much more pleasant with a little twist of lemon in it. It is tasty.

Someone inquired about tea brands. There is this ginseng tea I am crazy about! There is a nature food grocer along my walking route and I stumbled onto this tea maybe about 5 or so years ago! It is called sun eleuthero tea (green box), can't find it in the grocery store. I was drinking it every night, 2 teabags per mug and having quite a bit of it actually. I found that it made me feel good, gave me a sense of euphoria but at the same time relaxed me and I swear...reduced my cravings. Let's just say I went on to a great weight loss month that month. They have not been carrying it recently. I can't find it...they have the capsules and it all natural so maybe sometime i will try that but having been shying away from it. I have tried the market brands and very nice but I simply have not yet found a tea that does for me what this stuff did. I'm sure it's just a personal thing, I don't know. OH my, I better get going, lol.

Have an awesome day ladies, I will be back later on.

Canadianangel, congrats on the loss!! Yes, you definitely have to watch the calories carefully to make up for the change in exercise. Good job!

CMof4, wow, that's great news that you lost even more than you thought and then lost a tad bit more! Congrats! I am doing a great job on water! Woohoo! And like Delphi with Diet Coke, I was addicted to Diet Dr. Pepper!! It was very difficult for me to make the switch, but I did it cold turkey, lol! I just started carrying a water bottle around with me at all time, just as I had done with the Diet Dr. Pepper. But I figured I had to have it just as readily available, so I bought 6 24-oz refillable bottles (I have a water cooler that I fill them with) and each morning, I fill them up, so they are ready to grab. I usually get through 5 each day. So, right now, I drink 120 oz a day! Wow, I didn't realize it was that much! (Hmm, this might be why I'm not getting hunger cues on time throughout the day, lol!) I also drink a couple of oversized cups of green tea too! In the summer, I just let the tea cool to room temperature before I drink it. I could put it in the fridge or add ice too, I suppose. I've just never tried it for some reason! And now, here are some special housecleaning vibes for you !!!

FSA, the neighborhood you walk through sounds beautiful! Like you, I am always looking at the houses and yards and landscaping. I really appreciate the old charm and beauty of older homes. Thank you on the well wishes! I went walking this morning, and TOM is still making it difficult, so I will probably put off weight training until tomorrow, unless I'm feeling better later in the day. I've already done a little housework though, and I'll definitely do more!
