I have been doing Dance Dance Revolution even more than my Fit as I find it works up so much more of a sweat. The issue I have with both of these 'games' is that they say to do them barefoot, but after an hour or more of the activities, my feet and ankles start to get sore and I worry that I'm not getting enough support. However, they say not to use shoes on the equipment as it is 'unsafe'. It's a catch 22. I'm not sure what to do as I don't want to become injured.
I have the Dance Dance Revolution on my wish list. Sooooooooon!
Have you looked into any of the Wii Fit support sites or message boards? I've seen a few resource sites and wonder if they might have some suggestions like light wrestling shoes or ballet shoes or something that would offer some support but not damage the equipment. Not sure!

How does the challenge work exactly?
No real science to it. Just "call out" whatever level of commitment you feel like giving to it and then come check in here to report how you're doing.
For instance, in the beginning, I said I would do an hour every day.
For the first 40-something days, I did at least an hour (sometimes 90 minutes) every single day. Then I had two days in which I could only work in 10 minutes each day. Boooooo! But at least I got on the dang thing!!
So, now I'm at day 58 with my Wii Fit and I've had four days total in which I got LESS THAN an hour in.
That means, on my "scorecard," I'm doing a pretty good job of keeping to the challenge. I'm holding myself accountable every day and even with those four days of LESS than an hour each, with all of the days I've done OVER an hour, it still averages out to about 75 minutes per day for 58 days so far.
So, I guess it's up to you. If you want to join me in a target of one hour per day, every day, that's GREAT! If you want to create a target of your own, just declare it and then come by and check in to report your progress.
This week, I've added in walking (now that it's cooler out) and that's been a nice change of pace. I'm excited to find that I'm much more FIT on my walks than I had been before Wii Fit, so it's definitely made a difference to how long I can keep going, how far I can walk, at what pace, how many hills I can take, etc.
So, I guess more than a CHALLENGE thread, this is an ACCOUNTABILITY thread. We're not really working toward any specific goal by a certain date like some of the other challenges do, but instead staying accountable for putting in whatever amount of time we say we'll put in.
Today, for instance, I put in an hour on Wii Fit and walked for 75 minutes as well. Good day! Worked off some drinks I had with dinner, for sure.
Hope everyone is having fun!
I can't wait to get my Dance Dance Revolution for the Wii to see if it helps pump me up like y'all report it could! I'm ready to sweat!!!! Yay!
Gotcha!
Ok, given that I haven't done this for a while, I will commit to a minimum of 20 minutes cardio and 10 minutes strenght training on the Wii, 5 times a week. I will work it up to a bit more in a couple of weeks, but I don't want to start too crazy that I will start talking myself out of it.

Awesome!
"Do something you can live with," is what I say. Yay!
Glad to have you along!!
I only did 10 minutes of Wii Fit today because we got our Dance Dance Revolution today and I did 50 minutes on that. Um... okay... is it wrong to be REALLY bad at DDR at first? REALLY bad?
I mean, I have NO coordination it seems. Scored a "D" on everything I tried.
BUT I did work up a sweat. Quite! And I guess that's the point.
I wish I could get DDR, but I live in an apartment and I don't think my downstairs neighbours will appreciate my jumping around.
Hey I am a total klutz myself, so I bet you you are way better than I would be. I mean, I still get screamed at by my Wii for doing the step thingy too fast, too slow or too unevenly
I did do my 30 minutes today as planned. Knowing that I had to come here at some point today and report made me get off my butt and do it.
I will go play some ultimate Frisbee tonight for some added activity (it's my first time ever) and talking about uncoordinated....haha
Keep enjoying your DDR and let me know how it goes!
I'm still pretty intimidated by my DDR so we'll see how it goes next time (maybe Sunday).
Only did a few minutes on Wii Fit today and yesterday because both days my husband and I went for VERY LONG, VERY FAR, VERY HILL-Y walks and really loved doing all that!
Yes, I want to *add* things to the Wii Fit work, not just choose one or the other, but I figure getting SOME exercise in every day (and a lot some days) has to be pretty good.
Will get at least an hour of Wii Fit and/or DDR done Sunday for sure, not sure about Monday though because it's supposed to be VERY HOT here that day and that sometimes means I'd rather go to the gym, since their AC is soooo strong.
Well, good work everyone, even if it's not the TOP job we've done. Just doing better more often than doing worse is a good thing sometimes. (Well, that's what I'm saying to myself anyway.)
Love that you're doing ultimate frisbee and the Wii Fitt too. So awesome! I need to do some fun outside stuff too (besides the walking, of course). Sounds like a lot of fun!!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend, everyone!

Wow...it took me a while to come in and check in...
It's usually difficult for me to get on the computer on the weekend because we are either out doing something or my husband takes possession and doesn't let go hehe.
But I was good. Saturday I got 45 minutes in. Sunday I took off and today I did almost 40 minutes. I keep getting tempted to ditch the strength training part but I promised myself I would do it, so I do it.
Ultimate frisbee didn't go so well, there were a bunch of kids there, I got overwhelmed and decided I was not going to play. Probably not the best decision.
At least I had done something, right?
So did you go to the gym today?
Read you tomorrow!
I haven't been here for a long, long time. And because we picked up a WiiFit 106 days ago and because I just remembered about 3fc again, I though this thread would help me with ACCOUNTABILITY on excercise.
I just passed the 20 hour mark on the Wii Fit today! Yay! The platinum pig! I mostly do the yoga and the aerobics. I particularily enjoy the boxing and get a really good sweat on from the hoola hoop. I've learned that I am a natural left hooper! (400 spins less that hooping the other way)
I found the free step too be good as I can switch to some PVR programme during it, but I found the step too short and needed more of a challange. So we went shopping to ValueVillage and picked up one of those big green step things. And boy, oh boy does that ever make a difference. My legs are sore today from 30 minutes of taller step.

Awesome! I've been cutting way back on the number of minutes I'm doing Wii Fit "proper" since we got the Dance Dance Revolution, but I still do at least 10 minutes of Wii Fit each day, on top of the 30 minutes to one hour of DDR.
It's feeling good to "mix things up" a bit and I find I'm always happy to do a Wii Fit exercise I haven't done in a couple of days, when I come back to it, so that's been nice extra motivation, too.

I did not. But I have been going for lots of long, hilly walks with my husband almost every night lately, and that's been loads of fun! Hopefully we'll get to the gym soon, but I'm really enjoying having variety in my workout (especially considering I wasn't working out at all 'til mid-July). So, that makes me think I will definitely be motivated to go to the gym once I need a new kind of change.
We'll see. Right now the Wii Fit is the only DAILY "yes" for me. And I do love it! I'm getting better at DDR, but that takes PRACTICE for sure! Good thing I'm enjoying it.

I found I'm better going one way than the other, too. (Can't recall right now WHICH way, LOL. That tells you how long it's been since I've done it! Ha!) Love, love, love the boxing too. Really fun!

Excellent! I thought about trying something like that. Very smart!! Does the Wii Fit still keep up with your number of steps or are you on your own, using the other step?

Woo hoo! Go, Patt! That's awesome! I haven't done mine yet today. Plan to start in about a half-hour. Feeling recharged just reading this thread. Yay!

Actually, you've probably only had a bronze one. The GOLD one comes after like 30 or 40 hours (after the platinum... or is it silver... pig). I was really looking forward to what would happen at 50 hours, but my gold pig just stayed. Stayed at 60 hours too. So, I think that's all we get... but maybe there will be something at 100 hours. We'll see!!
I'm back
I just finished my workout for today . I did 40 minutes yay!. I might have to bump up my "minimums" soon hehe.

I think it's great that you are getting in a variety of activities, I am already starting to think about how can I add variety to my Wii workout. I even thought that it'd be great if they released an add-on to this disc hehe.

Hahaha, you are probably right, it does look more like bronze than gold and I have just passed 15 hours on it (hey, it was nice thinking I had a GOLD pig hehe). Maybe we can have a mini-competition to see who gets to the 100 hour mark first and finds out if there's anything after the golden piggy
Hey girls! I almost forgot about this thread lol. Yes DDR is awesome, and it's not easy at first, but I found the Beginner stage to be doable. I'm onto the Basic stage now and find a lot of those moves very challenging. I've been spending a lot of time at the gym the past couple of weeks so not so much on the Fit and DDR. I use them as 'bonus' exercise time. A friend is coming over on the weekend to play DDR with me. I hope she doesn't mind me in my spandex and headband grooving to the beats lol.
Hello ladies, I just saw this thread as I was heading to the 100 push-up challenge to post. I was considering getting the Wii Fitness but was worried that I am too heavy for it now. Does anyone know if there is a weight limit to it and if so, what it is? I have a Wii and I love it but not many of the games give you a real workout, mainly just your arms for the sports games.
For those of you that like The Biggest Loser I found something that might be awesome. It's Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009 for the Wii, which strangely enough is being released Oct. 28 2008. If it's put together well I can bet you that it will kick your butt, cause that's Jillian. It has 4 Workout types, strength training, weight loss, intervals and hill climb. Plus other stuff, just google it or check it out on Amazon.com. I don't think I would be ready for that anytime soon, but for those of you that are looking for more of a challenge on the Wii, this might be it. We will have to wait and see.
Anyway, I would love to join in, so please let me know if you think I could do it at my current weight of 379.
Hello...I would love to join too! I so need accountability....and this thread has been very encouraging....so thank you to all of you. I love to eat and hate to exercise but LOVE my Wii Fit. Now that that the kids are back at school it's time for me to become more diligant with my exercise routine and serious once and for all about my weight loss.
Thanks Christina for the great tip rearding the Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009....sounds great. I do love the stepping and the boxing but would love a bit more of a challenge. I don't own DDR but might have to put that on my Christams Wish List.
My goal at the moment is to do 30 minutes a day on the Wii Fit.
Well, you ARE correct. I was just on bronze and am now on silver!!! And here I thought I was doing awesomely well! LOL. I looked up a FAQ on WiiFit and learned that it only goes to Gold - that's it! But does it count hours after Gold?
And yes, I put the balance board on top of the step board. That makes the whole thing about 6.5 inches tall. Not quite as tall as a real step, but it does make for a more challenging work out.
As far as I can tell the US balance board is rated for 330 pounds. So, you could use that as a goal reached prize.
Yesterday: two 30 minute sessions of Free step (on a step) for a total of 60 minutes.
