lumifan~Sorry to hear about your BF's cat. It more than likely had nothing to do with with the flea bomb. Especially since it had been a week or so prior to moving in. Congrats on your walk at lunch time! I had played around with the black dress for several months. Then MM said something wonderful in one of her posts that really brought the dream alive for me. It has motivated me every since. Thank you MM!!

Eny~I did my sneak peek wi this morning. 187.0. Enjoy your time with Tom and do the best you can, don't look back. How is Hunter? Eny~ you mentioned quilting "stuff" in your post. Last Fall I picked out a pattern, bought the rotory cutter, thread, fabric. Ready to make an awesome quilt. I am afraid to start cutting for fear I will majorly mess up and waste the fabric. Could you give me some pointers. I have wanted to make a quilt since my early teens. Another dream I would like to make a reality. Grandma left me 3 vintage quilts. I would love to keep that going in the family. It is 97 degrees here, humidity out the window! I wanted to walk yesterday, I just could not take the heat. I will pop in a dvd and get in a workout this afternoon. This is rest day on the push up challenge. Lets hit the workout trail together. WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!

MM~Strength training isn't my strong point either . I used have this complex all or nothing at all. This book has 16 minute workouts. They are doable, not over whelming. You focus on one area of the body a day. I can pick and choose from several different exercises per muscle group to do. I think this will be better for me than trying to keep up with a group on a dvd. I am limited on some exercises because of arthritis. I will let you know how this endeavor works.

It is breakfast of yogurt and blueberries. hope everyone has a good day. Pat
  • Pat - If you can sew you can quilt. The best thing to do is to just do it. My first quilt was a simple patch quilt - and it turned out beautiful ... to everyone else. All I see are the flaws. There are TONS of reference sites for quilting online - I just simply picked up a book and followed step by step.

Right now I'm working on 2 quilts. one is a scrap quilt (used with a mulitude of fabrics that you have a little of) for my mom & Step dad for Christmas, and the other is a block quilt for a friend's daughter. I'm making that one because of a dream I had. i tend to be very creative in my dreams - and I saw her carrying a blanket around and I knew that I had made it - so i woke up the next morning, figured out which fabrics I had seen in my dream and started working on it. Weird - i know.

Don't be afraid of cutting the fabric - you won't mess it up. Most quilts are just straight lines - and any quilt/fabric shop carries plastce template pieces that you can use to cut around. It'll be good.
  • You ladies are amazing, I can't sew a hem and you are making quilts or plans for quilts. Wow, good for you. Send me some creative energy, the only thing I can make is a mess .
Can't talk too long tonight, just got home from school, I am beat. I went for a walk at lunch and a run after work, then to college for 3.5 hours , about 90 here today so I am beat. On a happy note, when I got done running, there is an IC stand on the path where I run. They have this frozen yogurt called "only 8" for a half cup, 32 calories and 7 carbs & delish!! So I had one for dinner before I went to school!

Slimmin Patty glad to have you. We love new friends (and our old ones too)

    TTYL
  • OK, here I am again.

Lumi, sorry about the cat. That really sucks, but I agree with Dixie, it likely had nothing to do with the bomb, might have happened just the same if they had not moved, so don't beat yourself up.

Dixie, I am so glad our posts have motivated you and your little black dress quest. I always feel really good about the support I get here too. I changed my ticker just to reflect how far I need to go to get to the 130's I think maybe combining my short goals with my ultimate Christmas goal would keep me focused on the prize.

Eathshaker, I agree, some days I don't have time to post much, that's ok, just fly by and wave and come back when you have a minute.

    Blue mommy, how's it going?

Eny, you are rocking this OP thing, good for you.

Anybody seen Isabel, 36, momma possum or Whoopsee anywhere, they seem to be MIA.
Hey ladies, we miss you if you are lurking and not posting!!

OK today is a glorious rest day! I have to work til 6 though.
I will go for a walk again at lunch, about 2 miles to the grocery to get a salad, then back to work to eat it at my desk!

Tomorrow I will run again as soon as I get up and have a cup of java. Need to get it in b4 it's too muggy.

We have to go to a party tomorrow night, I think I will just stay away from the food table because it's a BBQ so likely lots of mayo salads , chips etc. If I carry a bottle of water and visit with everyone, I will not miss the mayo, besides it's going to be in the 90's again tomorrow, who wants to eat food that's been sitting out...
  • Mm....sounds like a good plan to stay away from the food table. I don't think i could do it though. lol.

Thanks for the encouragement about the cat. I just feel so bad for the bf.

I hope everyone is having a great FRIDAY!!! I went for a walk last night and got in 3.5 miles for a total of 4.5 yesterday, then got up this morning and did another mile before getting ready for work. Hope to get a mile in at lunch and another 2 or 3 tonight when i get home. Not doing much jogging. Hurt the knee a little yesterday. It must be kinda rusty from the surgery and the month and half off from the gym. lol.

I gotta be careful with my food today. I had a chicken bisquit for breakfast today from chick-fil-a. They brought free bisquits yesterday but i had already eaten so i just put mine up for today. On a plus side, i did throw away the bottom half of the bisquit. I know that had to save me some calories and fats and carbs. :-)
  • hello ladies, am i able to join in with you? christmas seems like a good time to aim for and try to lose for... i would like to drop to 180 by christmas time
  • Paula-This is a very supportive group of ladies. Jump in and we will have fun getting to know you. It is never to late to join in.

MM~sounds like you have a plan going on! It amazes me how you can juggle all of these things, go to school, study, keep up with your house and have personal time too. You are the inspiration to us all.

Eny~I can sew! I have a sewing machine. I found the pattern. It is called Arrow Head Puzzle. It has the cutting instructions, how many pieces of each color I need and the piecing instructions. I will read it all, then get out the fabric. Then start planning. Do you mind if I ask questions as I go? I will also go back to the site I found the pattern and check out a few things before I start cutting.----How are you doing today?

Everyone have a great day. Catch ya all later. Pat
  • hi ladies

mothermavis- i am still tired from todays activities. i did watp (2 miles) and did some outdoor walking today. it was so hot out there but i managed to get it done.
  • Dixiemae, you are so sweet! I get it all done because I have to. That's all.
I am glad I finally found time to work me in though, feeling so much better now that my weight is headed where I want it to be. I know it goes back and forth, but trying to stay OP!!

Welcome Paula!! It's great to have you!!

Bluemommy, great job! It's feels great doesn't it? I did a 2 mile walk at lunch, doing my crunches and leg lifts in about 5 minutes while I watch the rest of the Yankees game.

Lumi, looks like you are doing great with your walking, good for you! I agree, it will be a challenge to stay away from the food table, but easier t do that than to start picking at the chips and then try to stop...at least for me. If I start, I can't stop!
  • Hi All - just wanted to drop a quick line and say congrats on all the hard work going on here!

Anyway, I got a treadmill this week from a friend that doesn't use it anymore. I hope that doesn't happen at my house! LOL! Does anyone have suggestions on goals I should set for myself to hit by Christmas? I know my weight loss goals but I haven't thought about exercise goals. I have read where a few of you have step goals, etc. Any ideas would be appriciated.

Other than that, I have just been dancing around with my kids. But I would like to get something a little more structured.

    THANKS!

    -Amanda
  • Hello! I sure hope I can get in on this! Thanksgiving/Christmas is also my favorite time of the year. I just love the whole atmosphere! Here would be my goals:

    cw: 256
    gw for xmas: 210

thats at losing about 2lbs a week from now until then. Too bad I did not start this about a month ago I would have loved to have hit 199 for Christmas! Oh well, there is always my birthday in March!
  • For a better life, (love the name!!) Welcome! Come on in and tell us about yourself! 2# a week is a great goal!

Amanda, Congrats on the treadmill! In the winter, I love mine. I got the same kind of deal, bought it for $25 from a friend of a friend who didn't use it.
You can use it for timed goals (30 minutes of exercise a day), or maybe, depending of course on knees and cardio and all, start the C25K program (couch to 5k), you can find it at coolrunning.com.! Good luck either way!
  • Welcom - For a Better Life!

Mother Mavis - Thanks for the link. I am going to check that out this morning!

Anyway, I hope everyone stays on track this weekend. I am going to try my best! My weigh day is Monday.

    -Amanda
  • Good Morning, I hope everyone is having a good Saturday.

Mother Mavis~You have done it again!! I checked out the cool running site. I am amazed!! I honestly think I can do the work out. I may not be able to do 30 min of jogging with these knees. But I really think I can do at least the first 4. I may take a lot longer to do the last 2, but hey I would be doing it. Thanks Mother Mavis for creating a dream, stretching possibilities, and helping us discover new things about ourselves. I wondered what muches were. Now, please tell me about the NMunches challenge, I am so curious!

I did 45 min of stepping and Jogging in place, about 1:30 am Then I did my push up challenge for a total of 44 wall push ups. Came home from my sister's totally not able to sleep. Found a baseball game on. Decided to exercise until the game was over. Got to bed a little after 3am. My ex woke me up a little after 9am pounding on the door. Here I am, I have errands to run and groceries to get. I will catch ya all later
  • Hi~Hope everyone is having a glorious Sunday. Where is everyone> I miss ya all. Yesterday I did my step/jog workout for an hour. I really tried to rev it up. I did a sneak peek wi. I am okay with that. I am so ready for Monday. I must get some chores done around here. Eny~How are the quilts coming along? Some one please post I am lonely. Pat
