Greetings! It's a make your own challange..and welcome! I found 3fc in May and my life has changed significantly because of the support and commiseration I find here!
Colaz
Thanks for the encouragement! I do quasi interval training on my treadmill at home....I run super fast for 15-20 seconds and walk at a moderate speed for 40-45...It has to do with your keeping your body and muscles off balance so they don't find equilibrium and begin working more efficiently (burning less calories per movement) I swear it has made a world of difference in the quality of my workout.
OOOOKKKK... I joined the Sept fitness challenge for 1000 minutes, but for Thanksgiving, I'd like to go for losing 30 lbs. I kinda made myself bi-weekly benchmarks that are 10% of the weight I have left to lose. My DB will graduate from OCS at the end of November and it would be awesome to surprise him! I could look like I did when we started dating!
I really do like this forum so far... I'm a little addicted, but atleast I take time away to make healthy food and walk Once classes hit full swing, I may post a little less, but I'll still keep up!
Tessa: I'm going on my 3rd year of teaching. I graduated Ele. Ed., but somehow ended up where I am. I also just started my masters in reading education this summer, so it'll be fun, fun this semester!!! I need this forum to keep myself up to making the time for exercise and healthy eating... when I get busy, that hits the back burner... Not anymore!!!
Cool, I was just thinking of challenging myself to get to Onderland by Thanksgiving, and I remembered 3FC had a challenge forum, so I go to see what that's all about, and lookit, a ready made challenge! Mind if I join?
I'm on WW points plan, and this week I'm cutting out meat, just to see what happens. I've also been lax on following the good health guidelines and mainly focusing on eating my points, but I've started doing the weight watchers online tools, which has been encouraging me on the other aspects of it. We'll see what happens.
Lek, that sounds really effective! I kind of tried that today on the treadmil for awhile today...it kicked my butt, but I got it done. Keep up the good work!
Hope, yeah I love this place! It is super supportive and informative! 3 year now? Wow...I hear the burnout rate of a special education teacher is about 5 years? Do you agree? So, you were elementary ed first? Wow, I can't imagine teaching highschool right now. You seem to enjoy it though
Fooled, make sure if you cut out the meat you are eating plenty of other protein...like from nuts, vegs....not sure what others there are. LOL, welcome though! It sounds like you are off to a great start!
So, I subbed today! Whohooo! LOl, I actually got up this morning, got dressed for going to work out (Kym and I were going to go to this Yoga class...) I signed on to the subbing network and I saw a job posted! I was really excited. I clicked except without really looking at the date (just saw it was elementary and full day). Afterword...I was like "Kym (my roommate), when is the 30th). She was like "ummm I think today..." eak! Yeah, the job wa for 8-3:30 that day, and I got it about 8:10. I quickly called the school and made sure it wasn't a mistake (just seemed odd that it would be posted online and not having the computer call)...they told me to come on over as soon as I got ready. The teacher was still there, but not feeling good. She said she'd stick around until I got there.
Today was super fun and easy. The class had a student teacher that covered the entire morning! Also, there was a super helpful paraeducator. The students were great. It was a 1st and 2nd grade classroom (that is how they sort students in Iowa City...mixed grades...it is different, but I like it).
Better yet...I have a job for tomorrow now! The nice paraeducator asked me if I could come in for her tomorrow. Para sub. pay is less than teacher pay, but it is still money, and I liked the classroom. The para was worried because she posted the opening about a week ago, and there has been no takers so far. I never saw this posting...I figured out somthing a little different about the subbing system. There is a preferred sub list for each school...the computer gives job postings to that list first, and if no one has taken it 15 hours before the job than it goes to everyone else.
Ummm...that makes it really hard for newbys to get in...but I am slowly getting on a few school's preferred subs list. I'm on three so far. I hope after I get in other schools I will get put on theirs too.
So, after school today I worked out. Yup, still had the energy. I had a great workout, and I've been following my diet. I weighed myself, and I am now down 5 pounds sense early last week! Whoohoo! I need to keep it up.
I am new at this , but i'm always up for a challenge . Count me in . My goal is to lose 15 pounds . I am not as bold as most of you ladies in giving my weight for I am the biggest in here .
Fluffy....this is an area where you can share everything without feeling embarrassed cause we are all in the same boat....there are some people I hve seen that were over 700 pounds....either way let us know even if you lose a pound or two cause any victory is a big victory!!!!! WELCOME!!!!!!!
Hi everyone,
Well, I've had a rough couple of days. Food has been bad! I don't know if it's TOM or what, but I feel like I could eat everything!! I hate this feeling. So, I need to get things back under control. This weekend is going to be kind of hard. It's my husband's birthday so we're going out (back to the Thai place). I should be able to work out Saturday morning before we go out for the day. I'll work out Sunday too.
Tessa-you are my hero!!! Five lbs is awesome. Congrats on the job too. You'll be working every day in no time!
Lekhika-I do interval training too! I don't run, though. It hurts my knees. I walk at 4 mph and for my intervals I bump up my speed to 4.5 mph and up the incline. I feel like I'm getting a great workout without spending so much time on the treadmill.
Velveteen-nice job on the loss!
Edzard-I hope you're feeling better. I've never had migraines, but I imagine they really affect your life. I met a girl recently who has migraines every single day and the doctors can't figure out why.
Welcome Fluffybottom, Fooled and hopetoloseit4good!
Tessa, you have inspired me! I'm going to make up a plan and follow it strictly for 2 weeks, and by the end of those two weeks, I will have lost 5 lbs. I think the plan will just have to be strict calorie counting (which I hate) and exercise!!!!!
Hang in there everyone, and enjoy your Labor Day weekend!
Hello All, sorry I haven't posted much this week...busy at work. However, I was able to lose 6 lbs and am still as determined as ever. Everyone hang in there and keep up the great work...we're on our way
Hey Everyone.. it's been awhile since I checked in... but I've been able to stay under my calories for the week and get my exercise done so I'm looking forward to weigh in tomorrow.
I want to say a special welcome to fluffybottom because I can relate to feeling embarassed /ashamed but having the number up there but personally it helps me be accountable to myself. I think you'll find great support here either way... I know I have
hotterat30 congrats six pounds is great! What plan are you following?? (I might have to switch to it!)
Anybody have big plans for the weekend?
It's a long weekend in Canada... so I'll probably go hiking. My parents are in town and want to take me and the bro out for dinner so I'm trying to plan what I'll order to avoid temptation. Def gonna go with the starter salad so I wont eat the greasy appetizers.
Lekhika-that "quasi interval training" sounds like a fun way to add variety to the treadmill, I'm gonna give it a try.
Hope2loseit4good-the bi-weekly benchmark sound like a great way to stay motivated.
Fooled-Welcome...you're in the right place for support.
Tessa-Congrats on the 5 lbs
Fluffy-Welcome, Utah said it all...we're all here for the same thing and this is an awesome place for support and encouragment.
Darby-it's great that you will still make time to workout with all that you have goin on this weekend.
Val-Thanx I've been doing low-carb. I slacked a bit on the workout this week, but I'm gonna get back into doing about 20 min of cardio M-F mornings before work. I usually do a walk/jog combo for 1 mile. I'm gonna start to add some interval variety as well.
Sorry I've not posted been busy and dealing with a pain in the behind family member. I'm gonna get caught up I promise. Anyways I lost 2lbs this week so back at my starting weight for this challenge. I know someone asked me if I home school yes we do. Well gotta run but will be back to check in today.
Ok ladies...three day weekend is over! Back to work ladies! lol
I had a wonderful weekend! My bf Steve came up, and we spent the entire three day weekend together. It was amazing. I miss him so badly during the week. I just moved to Iowa City about a month ago, and now we live 2 hours apart. Before, back in NE Iowa, we lived about an hour apart...so, the extra hour so far isn't causing too much trouble. Gas sucks though.
Steve is my first bf in 23 years (I'm 23 lol). We've been together for about 4 1/2 months now...it seems like forever though. My heart just aches when he leaves. He is looking at moving a little closer actually...about 45 minutes closer. I am actually secretly hoping he will just move to Iowa City...I've mentioned it a few times, just to let him know...but I don't want to be selfish. He needs to move though...he is right now living with some family and works at a low paying job (only getting about $8 an hour, and he is a schooled automachanic that should be making $12/13 an hour).
He is just so patient...see, somthing happened to me a long time ago that makes it extremly hard to trust...men. That is a big part of the reason why I stayed single for so many years...just didn't want to get close. This guy was extremly patient for me. He waited a month until I felt comfortable enough to do a little more then hand holding (nothing bad now girls...lol). He waited another month after that until I felt comfortable enough with him to let him kiss me. Four months after we started dating...so just recently, I gave him a few more liberaties... (just PG rating stuff still ... lol). He's told me, flat out...that he will not even try push me into sex until after we are married...omg, it was exactly what I needed to hear at the time ... lol How many guys would wait that long? How many guys would say somthing like that...
Ok...anyway...lol, I didn't realize my post would turn into that much Steve...
I am planning on having a great week here. I have no subbing jobs lined up yet...right now, actually my car is on the fritz...the break pads went bad. I need to take it in to get fixed.
Planning on working out later this morning.
Ally, wtg on the 2 pounds! Sorry that you are having trouble with a family member...there is always one in the family lol. So, you homeschool? How old are your kids? I homeschooled when I was in middle school for a couple of years (I'm 23)
Val, GL on your weightin today. Let us know! It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! I love Canada!
Wtg hotter! WhohooO! 6 pounds is awesome!
Darby, lol thanks! You are MY hero for working out weekends! I end up never working out on weekends! I hope that your weekend went breat, and that your week goes better than last!
Fluffy, usm, and Jason...welcome! I hope you have a great start to this week! Keep us updated!
So far I am still at 143LBS!!!! Guys...I am starting to get desperate! I've been stuck here since July 30th and I haven't even seen 142.8, not even for SECOND...just 143.00. Maybe my scale doesn't go lower than 143? I bet that's it!
I guess I'm lucky I set my goal so low...16 lbs by the end of the year. Looks like I am going to take FULL advantage of the next 4 month, and then some!
Maybe my Thanksgiving goal will be just 5 lbs
