Hey gurlz (Diva, dont get on the spelling! LOL).

GrammyL, big welcome to you! I think all of us would agree that calorie counting is the only way to go.

I think you ladies know me well enough to guess that I'd be all over the PS when needed to fix little sagging areas and that. Diva, sometimes loose skin on the tummy or fat in a certain area like the stomach or outer thighs are just as resistant to fixing naturally as a sagging chin or sagging eyes. I may need to fix this stomach given the disproportionate amount of fat and a bit of loose skin that I never had before getting prego, plus I used to have really tight abs but now they got that separation thing some women get from pregnancy. So this basically sucks! Why should some of us women have to live out our days with a ruined stomach if we could fix it (especially those who have children later in life me at 38 when the body doesnt bounce back as easily).

Diva, we have the EXACT same attitude about our exes..I'm always spurred on after a break up to get my body in great shape. Why did he supposedly change his mind all of a sudden?? The nerve! You must be inwardly laughing now that you're feeling back to your strong self!

Thanks Rockinrobin!

Chat later lovelies!

AnAbsoluteDiva 03-16-2007 03:17 PM

Miz Claudia,

I agree about the tummy tuck if the skin is loose and doesn't know that you worked hard to tighten it. What I was referring to was liposuction to remove fat. Different procedures, I realize. Thanks for pointing it out.

Reason he's calling?

Cuz I'm HOT and he got a look at what's out there and what he found were a bunch of women who want his engagement ring or his babies or his money. And to boot, they're not even HOT!

LOL

Does it feel good? You betcha. But it will feel a whole lot better when I don't care if it feels good or not. Word has it, they call that CLOSURE! END! FINITO!

And for the record, I started working out and calorie counting BEFORE the dweeb got brain damaged. I have always taken care of ME (except over the past five years when I ate an excess of 700,000 calories and gained 20 pounds as a result), but really... I didn't start being good to my body for any other reason than because I believed I deserved to the best me I could be.

And I've only just BEGUN to be good to me!

;-)

jamsk8r 03-16-2007 03:36 PM

Hey all. Been absent for a while. I ran out of good veggie food and the money to replace it..ack! Sad, but the bills insist on being paid first. Been doing my best with what was in the fridge and pantry, and not binging or anything, but eating way too much high calorie or sodium laden crud, I'm sure, this past week or so. Gave up counting the calories as it was too depressing, but today I got paid and the bills are all paid so I am off to the grocery to restock on good stuff! :carrot:

My last weigh in showed the results of running out of the right foods, only down 2 lbs, and that was several days ago, so it might be up now. :( I wasn't going to buy a scale for the house, but I don't get to my sister's every week, so I think I will go ahead and buy one for home. Just have to try and stay off of it on a daily basis. :frypan:

So, back to eating good food tonight! Back to counting calories tomorrow. Back to losing this week, I hope! I really want to stick with this, because it's really not hard to do, as long as I have the good food at home. I've been bike riding and still roller skating as hard as ever, so at least I didn't fall totally off the wagon or go crazy eating sugary garbage.

I haven't had a chance to read all the new posts since I was here last. I hope you all have been having a good time and having successes!

Cheryl

Guess what, I bought Fiber One today!! I also bought some Kashi Go Lean Honey Clusters cereal. The Kashi has 10g or fiber and 13 g of protein per cup.

Today, I went for a facial and massage. I am so relaxed. My flight got cancelled for NY, so I am in Chicago this weekend afterall.

PS: If I had the money I would get a tummy tuck and lipo (not that I need that yet), in a second. But, I don't have the money so I lfit weights instead. :)

mamabanana 03-16-2007 08:05 PM

Ooooo....I never saw the Kashi one, Ill look for it next time I go to the store. Is salt or sugar listed in the first 5 ingredients? I am SUCH a tummy tuck candidate...I swear. I work out (although I COULD domore ab work, Ill admit!) and have lost a lot of weight, but I had 4 kids and a c/section and the texture of the skin is just destroyed. I wear a size 4 at my weight, but theres this roll that I cant get rid of...well, maybe in another 10 pounds...who knows. My hubby is VERY anti- plastic surgery, even though its MY body and my choice, theres no way he'd pay for it, so, alas...Ill keep working too!!!!!

Hey, thanks for the welcome!!!

Mami 03-16-2007 08:09 PM

Welcome mamabanana.

Theresa, thanks for complimenting my dear little Angeline. She's 8 1/2 months but wearing 12 month sizes (luckily in length and not weight). Her papi is very tall.

Wow, this snow/hail storm has really kept me tied to this computer today. Sheesh, I need to get a life! I'd be on my elliptical but my muscles are really sore from getting back to the weights yesterday and today.

Allison, happy birthday and sorry we were a little ahead of schedule in our birthday wishes. Enjoy your planned festivities, they sound really fun. If you go off plan just a little, don't worry about it just view these days as some high days as part of a zig zag plan. Though I'm not sure where margaritas and guiness stout fits into that.

AnAbsoluteDiva 03-16-2007 09:24 PM

Calories today were 929 with 15% coming from fat.

Ran 4.1 miles on the treadmill (snow, ice, slush, wind, cold, yuck) and I'm loving the soreness.

Littlered, I aim to please. And when that fails, I'm happy to make you smile!

;-)

cablgurl 03-17-2007 12:17 AM

I have not posted or been counting for about a week now had some computer issues everything is up and running again. I have still been using my eliptical almost every day but my calories have been really high. have not gained any pounds but have not lost either. Now its time for me to get back on track!

littlered 03-17-2007 09:15 AM

count for friday.
Total: 1417
Fat: 28%
Carbs: 50%
Fiber:39
Protein: 23%

Fat too high, had company all day. and was hard to keep up with my counts.
I will do better on the fat count today.

Bobbolink 03-17-2007 09:30 AM

Is it just my computer or is everyone missing their ticker? Everyone's ticker is missing and just a red X is posted.

littlered 03-17-2007 10:34 AM

yup! me too.

Bobbolink 03-17-2007 10:37 AM

Hi!
Friday's menu
Calories...1,165
Fat...19%
Fiber...57 grams

Breakfast: 3 slices French Toast ~ SF Maple syrup ~ 1 strip of bacon.(I made two strips but burned one and had to toss it)
Lunch: Tomato/Spinach soup ~ Toasted Flat Out topped with FF Strawberry cream cheese, SF Chocolate pudding & SF Cool Whip (yummy)

Snack: I am so amazed that I'm eating all this sweet stuff, in the past I hated sweet junk? Some guy at our fitness center told me the same thing about liking salty foods better than sweets. He said since dieting he now started eating more sweets, why is that? I still don't like really sweet things but the pudding calls my name every day.
I had Applesauce, SF Cool Whip sprinkled with 1/2 serving of Fiber One for my snack. Sadly my supply of Applesauce is running out and I'll have to start buying it. (For those that don't know me)We have many different kinds of fruit trees, two of them are Apple trees and I make/freeze all the apples from them.
Supper: Elk Roast ~ Carrots (frozen from garden)~ Salad with Olive Oil/Balsamic vinegar.
Snack: Popcorn and FF Milk

Bobbi ~ What brand of turkey bacon do you recommend? The last time I made turkey bacon the dogs and cats wouldn't even eat it
I usually buy the extra lean Louis Rich Turkey bacon. It does have a good bacon flavor but it's like chewing on cardboard. But since I'm a volume eater and this has 20 calories a strip, I eat it anyway. They were out last time I shopped so I picked up the Jennio-0 Turkey bacon, that has 35 calories per strip and taste better because of the added fat in it. If you're a picker eater, you'll never find a turkey bacon that suits you. (I'd rather get used to it than go without)

Theresa... Thanks for the computer information, I did lots of searching yesterday trying to decide which one to use.
Rai... What do ya think of the Fiber One? If you tell me it's yucky with milk I'll have to agree. I only eat it dry or sprinkle on top of things.
Hello everyone else!
I changed my ticker again this morning but you can't see it since everyone's ticker is down. Maybe it'll be up by the time I submit this. Tomorrow I'll really lose weight because I have to fast and drink all that yucky junk in preparation of my colonascopy on Monday.

Bobbi

Whew! I just read about a week's worth of posts on this site! Like Mami said (oh, 7 pages back or so), life has been busy. I've either been too busy to post or my hubby has been hogging the computer to record music.

I'm very happy to report I weighed in yesterday morning at 138.75, finally breaking my plateau of 142, which is where I had been stuck for nearly 3 weeks. Yea! It feels so good! I attribute it to a combination of cutting out my daily nuts (thanks Robin!), upping my fiber (thanks Bobbi for the initial inspiration on that), and lowering my overall calories ever so slightly...I spent the week being very diligent and making sure I got my exercise in.

Bobbi - I'm so glad to hear you had good test results! What a wonderful feeling to get such a clean bill of health! My husband has been having horrible gastro-intestinal issues for the last couple of months; he was sure he'd have to have colonoscopy or some other awkward tests, so I was interested to read your experience on that. On a totally different note, I'm planning to make your french toast for our Sunday breakfast!

Diva - It sounds like you are on a roll... with fitness, men, and life in general. Your positive energy and confidence is spilling out all over this thread, and it's awesome to read. I know you are getting close to a quit date with smoking, and I'm wondering if you're considering any pharmaceutical help or if you are going to push through with willpower (you clearly have a lot of that!). My husband, type 1 diabetic (smoking is the last thing he needs to be doing), has quit several times, but about a year ago quit for good (fingers crossed) using Chantix. It's fairly new and not an antidepressant like Wellbutrin. Anyway, he had GREAT success with it.

Theresa - Just wanted to say that it sounds like you are working really hard and making so many positive changes. Keep up all the good work!

Grammy - Welcome to the calorie counting thread! I must say, it feels weird calling a younger woman 'Grammy'! I am 39 with no kids (lots of amazing nieces and nephews though). But gosh, you are a young grandma! Very cool.

To everyone else...have a fantastic weekend! Try not to have too many green beers tonight. My goal is to not splurge too much this weekend... I can't if I want to see the scale go down again next week.

walking2lose 03-17-2007 12:23 PM

P.S. After reading all the posts from the week, I think I should buy stock in FIBER ONE!! Love it!!! Thanks to Bobbi, Robin, and Susan who inspired me to try it.

P.P.S. It felt SO good to change my ticker... finally! I hope it shows up!

Thank you.

All of my children have extremely special names-that have special meanings/mementos/cultural/family and other personal significance to us. It just never seemed right to me, to name my child something just because I liked the sound of it. I always wanted my children to know that their names were very thought out-with history behind them.

Mami 03-17-2007 12:46 PM

Wow Bobbo, you're just 2 pounds from goal! That is excellent. You did that QUICKLY!

walking2lose, thanks for the Chantix tip; my dad's a smoker and wanted to find something to help him quit so I just googled it and emailed the info to dad. I wanted to order it but it looks like you need a prescription.

I'll try the fiber one in my yogurt today and report back. :)

GrammyL 03-17-2007 01:40 PM

Bobbi ~ I didn’t get to make the French Toast for my DGS. So, maybe tomorrow I can make it for DD and I. I can be a bit picky on certain things but I am going to give it a try again on the turkey bacon. I am a volume person also. I like feeling satisfied and full. WOW, you are doing fantastic, almost to goal. I look forward to that day.

Theresa ~ Thanks for the warm welcome.

DGS stays the night with me on Fridays. Well about 2:30 he got sick all over my bed, me, him, the hall, living and everywhere in-between. I called DD and we rushed him to the emergency room because he is only 14 months old. They ended up putting in an IV for about 3 hours and I sat and held him while he slept because he didn’t want anyone else. My butt was so sore. Since I am pre-diabetic with diabetic spells I made DD’s go get us some food. Needless to say much more calories than I wanted to eat for breakfast so I have to really pay attention the rest of the day.

Bobbi ~ Same experience with the sweets. I never at a lot of sweets until they were off limit on my last plan. Now, I can’t enough SF, FF pudding and SF Jello.

Aphil ~ The only one who has a special name is my DGS, Jose is his first name. We named him after my FIL to say thank you for all he has done for us and he is very ill. He is just an amazingly strong man to have survived this long. 12 heart attacks, diabetes, kidney failure, liver problems, going blind and a massive stroke and he is still here fighting. I would have given up a long time ago.

Walktolose ~ thanks for the welcome. I turned 39 in January so we are the same age. I had my kids when I was young and my DD had him when she was young. I am glad I chose that path because I am already going thru menopause. Our family goes thru that young also. I am so glad I have lost 40 lbs so that I have the energy to keep up with him, one advantage to being a young Grammy because he is very active. Your doing fantastic and keep up the good work!

I realized this morning how much 40 lbs lost has changed my life. My DGS was sitting on my lap and we were reclined on the bed. He weighs almost 20 lbs and I looked down and realized I used two of him, 40 lbs of fat on my body, that is a lot. WOW!

Friday calories: 1633
Walking: 90 minutes

Must be doing something right because the weight is going down.

Have to get going and will talk at you all later.

GrammyL 03-17-2007 01:47 PM

I put my real name in my signature and you are all welcome to address me by Lara if you would like.

AnAbsoluteDiva 03-17-2007 03:48 PM

Walking2Lose,

I'll be quitting cold turkey. I work for Pfizer (home of Chantrix, Viagra, Zoloft, and all things artificial and scary) and have seen the clinical trials and do agree that they are impressive as all get out. Chantrix targets that tiny part of the brain that says "I NEED A SMOKE". That part of the brain, on ME, is not so tiny! LOL

Actually, cold turkey is my method of choice because it is painful, difficult, and debilitating. All these things show me what I'm really made of, and the best way I know to boost the self-esteem is to do what is painful, difficult, and debilitating and STICK WITH IT.

Five days to go... and fear not! You'll be reading all about it here.

srmb60 03-17-2007 06:19 PM

I tried to put yesterday's diet extravaganza into fitday but phtht! It was just really really bad. I can hardly remember now what I had at the buffet and I certainly have no idea what it's called.
Today is better. Perhaps not good nutrition but better calorie wise.

Petra6998 03-17-2007 06:22 PM

Hello Everyone...Even though I haven't been posting everyday..I have been lurking, lol. Well as of Today I am down to 160!!! Yah for me!! I have been this late since I was pregnant with my first one (she'll be 8 in July). I have been doing pretty good with the calories. I have been at target pretty much every day except for last Saturday, but It didn't harm me, since I dropped more weight this week.

Diva- You have tons of willpower!! I just tried to quit smoking using the patch and well made it 10 days. My kicker was going out. I think that I will try to quit again and I do know that I will use the patches, but I am going to wait until I am closer to my weight goal. I didn't loose any weight while I was trying to quit.

Well time to finish painting...
Mary

walking2lose 03-17-2007 06:47 PM

Mary - Congrats on the big loss this week! My husband is in a band, and playing out is what did him in too. He doesn't drink much, but he will have a couple beers when he plays in bars, plus the bass player smokes a lot. When he was on the Chantrix, he said he just had no desire for cigarettes at all. It was pretty amazing. He had quit many different times before using different methods -- cold turkey (made him ultra grouchy), the patch, and whatever that pill is that's like Wellbutrin (can't remember the name). Even though he quit with all of them, within 3-6 months or so, he had started again. This time it's lasted a year, so I'm hoping it's permanent.

Claudia - I hope it helps your dad quit. It's a tough thing to beat. I quit when I was about 25, but I still remember how easy it was to lapse back.

Diva - Yes, it's true that we do appreciate things more when we have to work hard for them. You are stronger than most people, including my husband. But I totally understand where you are coming from.

Susan - I can relate! I just came back from a baby shower, and I don't even think I'm going to try to enter in fit day today. It's so much easier to enter stuff that I make myself. There were all kinds of salads and dips and things -- I had a couple of bites of most everything. I have no idea how to enter all that! Oh well...

srmb60 03-17-2007 06:59 PM

I was gonna bargain with walking2lose to do a little extra exercising this evening .... I wonder what her real name is?

15 minutes of weights walking2lose aka ????

AnAbsoluteDiva 03-17-2007 09:26 PM

Calories today were at 1093 with 29% coming from fat. My race is tomorrow *gulp* and I am working until 7 AM. Leave here, go right to the race, run, get home and have lunch with my girlfriend, sleep three hours, and then back to work.

Walking2Lose, if I had to live with someone while quitting smoking, I might use an aide for THEIR benefit. Your husband is smart... he wants the marriage to survive the withdrawal. :-)

I am researching marathons to run, and I think I'm going to go with Philadelphia Thanksgiving weekend.

I think that's a perfect race for me because it will mark the one-year anniversary (to the DAY) of when Dweeb decided we were over. Yeah... I think that's the one to run.

26.2 miles, smoke-free, fat-free, fiber-rich, protein-ladened, muscle-bound... yeah!

RocknRoll 03-17-2007 10:04 PM

Hi Guys! I'm new to this part of the forum but not new the calorie counting! I have tried my fair share of diets (special k diet, atkins, south beach, fat smash, and more) but one thing has stayed the same when i'm losing weight- my calories. I have found that if i exercise around an hour a day and eat 1200 calories i lose 2-3 pounds a week. I just have fallen into that low carb crowd and have eaten sometimes around 2000 calories but since its low carb, its 'ok'.

So, thats why i'm here... to share my calorie counts and finally do something i have always wanted to: eat in moderation.

Calories for today: 1246
Caloried burned: 400
Fat: 24%
Carbs: 37%
Protein: 40%
what should these %'s be around for a good diet?

I guess my daily goal will be 1000-1400 :)

srmb60 03-18-2007 06:23 AM

Hi and welcome RocknRoll!

Oh Diva ... I could hardly walk in the morning after a night shift! Do good!

walking2lose ... I did 20 minutes of weights last night. Did you do some repair work after your party?

I was quite low in calories yesterday. I just was not hungry.

rockinrobin 03-18-2007 06:41 AM

Good morning everyone. I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

I am definitely having some zig zagging moments this weekend. Calories for Friday and Saturday I am guesstimating at about 1600 each. I don't know I kinda felt the need to just RELAX a little and not be so strict. Today I will try to get it back down.

Welcome Rocknroll, one of my favorite things by the way. Your percentages look fine. Welcome to the group.

Diva, today is your 5k, no? Good luck.

Walking2lose, I'm real glad you liked the Fiber One.

Mami, I hope you like it as well.

Bobbo asked me for a typical menu of mine, so here goes:

Breakfast has been the same for about 2 - 3 months now - 1/2 cup Fiber One Cereal mixed with 1/2 cup Kashi Go Lean cereal with 1/2 cup skim milk - about 175 calories.

Snack - Danon Lite and Fit Fat free yogurt with 1 tbsp of Fiber One cereal - under 100 calories

Lunch - Almost always 1 Morning Star Farms Chick Patty with 3 cups of cauliflower - about 250 calories

Snack - usually jello free sugar free pudding with a squirt of fat free whipped cream and a sprinkle of Fiber One Cereal - under 100 calories

Dinner, this varies the most, but usually a big chicken breast/veggie stir fry or a huge salad with a grilled chicken breast cut up into it or a piece of fish with tons of veggies or spaghetti squash with sauteeed onions and portabello mushrooms and cut up chicken breast, to name a few - about 400 calories

Snack, which I just recently added and only if I need it. I just added a workout at night, so I like something lite to eat afterwards. Usually these 60 calorie fat free/sugar free ice cream bars that I found or another pudding - so 60 calories.

Total for the day - under under 1200. These past 2 days I stayed to my menu, but had a few extra snacks, not much, but enough to tack on a few extra hundred calories, oh well.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Bobbolink 03-18-2007 07:24 AM

Good Sunday Morning to Everyone!

Hope nobody has a Irish Hangover this morning!
I've started my fast of clear liquids this morning in preparation for my colonoscopy tomorrow and will have to stay close to the bathroom with all the junk I have to drink. I hate missing church but maybe I'll catch a T.V. sermon. Yesterday's menu:
Calories...989 (Low but we were gone over lunch and decided to eat a early supper)
Fat...13%
Fiber...39 grams

Breakfast: Fiber One, dry ~ 2 slices low cal toast spread with a serving of strawberry cream cheese.

Snack: SF Chocolate pudding mixed with a serving of Fiber One and SF/FF Cool whip. (My quick fix version of Haystacks) It was delicious but you have to eat it fast before the crunch goes out of the cereal.

I had coffee with my dad, bro and SIL, brought along snacks to eat while they had cake. One was General Mills Cinnamon Apple slices, (real dehydrated apples)very good with only 50 calories per bag. The other one was Oreo chocolate crisps that I loved and 100 calorie bags.

Supper: Cheese Burgers made with Elk, FF Cheese slice, low cal bun, dill relish and oven baked french fries. I have a great recipe for oven fries that taste like the real thing if anyone's interested.
Lettuce Salad with Feta cheese, Olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
Evening snack: Jello whipped with Strawberry cream cheese and mixed berries/SF Cool whip
FF milk

Robin... Thanks for sharing your menu, it's always fun to see what big losers eat, I don't mean that like it sounds. Have you ever made the W.Watchers recipe for mock mashed potatoes using cauliflower? It's pretty good and I've used the recipe while counting calories. As you can see, my menu pretty much stays the same for breakfast and lunch too. (It makes calorie counting and planning a "no brainer" ) I'm lucky in the fact that DH doesn't like a lot of sauces on meat, etc. I've been eating and cooking CLEAN for years, I just didn't know there was a name for it.
Everyone have a great low calorie day. Think how hard you worked all week planning, counting and exercising. You don't want to eat something stupid today and blow all your efforts of the work week.

rockinrobin 03-18-2007 07:49 AM

Hi Bobbo. By all means, call me a big loser. Though I'd like to be an EVEN bigger loozah. And I would love your recipe for the fries. Although I try to stay away from potatoes. I don't have good control with potatoes, so that's why I stick to lower calorie vegetables. I get to eat A LOT without worrying about calories. So now that we're talking here. What's up with all this elk? Where does one buy elk and what does one do with it, well okay I see elk burgers. What are the advantages of it over beef or chicken? What does it taste like? Oh and I prefer my cauliflower cooked in a little chicken broth. I love it in fact. I also see that you are SO close to goal. You must be thrilled!!!! Didn't you do this quite quickly? Do you mind if I ask you how tall you are? Okay, I just did. What are your plans for maintenance? Wow, I just asked you a lot of questions. And don't worry, I'm not eating anything stupid today. Tomorrow's weigh-in day. I'll be fine. Thanks for caring.

littlered 03-18-2007 08:24 AM

Good morning everyone
Welcome Rocknroll

my counts were:

Fat: 19%
Carbs: 58%
Fiber: 37%
Protein: 24%

treadmill 30 min.

I am not loosing weight with these numbers much, I am going to try to kick up the tread mill.

I am also having hard time eating the 1600 cal. everyday. Its a lot of food.

Mami 03-18-2007 09:24 AM

Morning everyone.

Robin, I had the same questions about Bobbi. Hope everything goes well tomorrow Bobbi. I also want the FF recipe.

Diva hope the race goes well. Please give us the details. What do you do at work with those hours? If I may ask. :)

Hi to the new members/lurkers :)

I ate 2100 calories yesterday. Today I must get back to eating much lower.
But I did burn 500 calories on my elliptical.

Do you all think the calories burned on the machine are accurate if I'm using a chest strap heart monitor that beams my pulse into the machine (it came with the elliptical)? The number SEEMS pretty accurate, its a bit higher than what the RMR test said I would burn in 30 minutes at moderate intensity (the test said 179 calories). I set the HR program to 70% so I think that's a little higher than moderate, so it does seem really accurate (and its a lot less calories burned than the ellipticals at the gym say).

Robin... You can buy Elk meat in most grocery stores that have a health food section. It's kind of spendy, $18.99 a pound! I'm married to a big game hunter and he bagged an 800 pound bull Elk last year so we have plenty of Elk meat plus a couple of deer in the freezer. We gave one (deer)to our daughter, she wanted mostly burger made out of it. That's low calorie meat too! He's going hunting again this fall for another Elk so we won't run out of game meat for awhile.
You can use it the same way you'd use any red meat and it's a good thing I like it or I'd starve. Look at the 1.9 grams of fat compared to pork and beef, quite a difference. I see 3FC took the boxes outand jammed the number all together. The last two sets of numbers is the cholesterol and protein. Elk has 146 calories ~ 1.9 grams of fat. What does it taste like? It depends on if the big guy was in rut or not. (Horny) Usually when DH hunts, it's in the rut season. That's when you can bag the trophy elk. Last years elk made the Boone and Crocket book which means the bull was a big sucker with huge horns. If in rut it's strong tasting, but I usually marinate it and that tames the critter.

Rocknroll ~ Welcome to the group, I am new also but I have learned a lot from them.

Bobbi ~ I made my French Toast this morning with some turkey sausage and a banana for breakfast. It was SOOOO good. Thanks for the idea.

Diva ~ WOW, you are not going to get much sleep, I would be dragging. I know you will do great! Good idea on the next race, celebrate your independence. I quit cold turkey also but I wasn't a big smoker to start with.

Calories: 2350 OUCH!
Day started out wrong and just didn't get any better. I also didn't get any cardio in either because we were paiting the livingroom ceiling and cleaning up from DGS being sick. Painting the kitchen ceiling this morning.

This recipe is out of a No-Fat Cajun Cookbook. It's one of the best recipes in the book and you can serve these to your family and they won't be able to tell the difference between these and fries made with oil. The spice mix makes a big batch so freeze what you don't use for future fries. This combination of spices is the key to making these taste like the real thing. The spice mix is great on potato wedges too!

No-Fat Cajun French "Fries"
4 medium white potatoes ( I scrub the spuds and leave skins on)
Cold water to cover (important step)
Butter-flavored nonstick vegetable oil spray
1 teaspoon Cajun Spice Mix This can get too spicy so use just 1 teaspoon the first time, then adjust on your next batches. I use more, but we like spicy!
Salt to taste
Preheat oven to 450 degrees
Cut potatoes like regular fries (I cut them a little fatter)Place in a large bowl and cover with cold water. Let soak for 3 minutes.
Spray baking tray with 0 calories cooking spray.
Remove spuds from water and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle the Cajun Spice Mix on them and place on baking tray. Bake 25 to 30 minutes. Remove and season with extra salt.
P.S. This is a hot oven so if you cut your fries too thin, they'll burn.

Cajun Spice Mix:
1/4 cup salt (I cut this down)
2 Tbsp. cayenne pepper
2 Tbsp. paprika
1 1/2 Tbsp. onion powder
1 Tbsp. garlic powder
1 Tbsp. fresh ground pepper
1 Tbsp. white pepper
2 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. dried thyme
1/4 tsp. ground mustard
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
Use all the spices, mix and store in a covered jar.

I am not loosing weight with these numbers much, I am going to try to kick up the tread mill.

I am also having hard time eating the 1600 cal. everyday. Its a lot of food.
I think it's too much food too, I'd cut it down if I were you. Thanks for the prayers tomorrow, a month ago my brother was diagnosed with colon cancer which is why I'm doing this.

Robin... Get your glasses out, this print is soooooooooo small!

I also see that you are SO close to goal. You must be thrilled!!!! Didn't you do this quite quickly? What are your plans for maintenance
I did lose it quickly, I've been on 1200 calories for 14 weeks, averaged 1.67 pounds per week. I only went over my 1200 calorie range twice, Christmas & Thanksgiving. I didn't gain any weight over the holidays either. I actually started at 161, not what I posted. I had dropped three pounds a week before I started back to 3 FC's. I've lost a total of 23.5 pounds.
I'm not going to go on maintenance yet, I'm not concerned about my actual weight. I have a closet full of beautiful dress clothes and that will decide what I should do next. I'm already wearing most of them, I have some size 6's that are still a little snug.

See Ya!

Oh boy! It's confession time, and I'm not even Catholic! :o

I posted yesterday about going to a baby shower and feeling thrown off about how to enter in fitday... well, I actually didn't overdue it too much at the shower (no cake or sweets, just a bite of this and that). No, the shower was the least of my problems. It was the leprechauns that did me in!:luck2you:

 We go to a super fun St. Patty's party every year, hosted by some wonderful friends of ours. Well, I wore green, drank green drinks, ate corned beef, danced, flirted, had a blast, and was totally off program. By the time I finished my first drink, the willpower was totally shot. I don't even want to think about how many drinks I had or calories... nor do I want to see the damage it'll do in fitday. Nevertheless, I'm going to take a shot at entering, just to have a moment of reckoning for myself. I know it will be humbling.

So, Susan, while you were doing EXTRA weights last night for your buffet, I was being a social butterfly. I don't regret the night off -- we had such a good time, and we needed it (we have a tendency to be homebodies), but I need to do some serious damage control today. I LOVE that you challenged me, Susan. It helps me a ton when I know I have to be accountable to someone else... in weak moments, I might let myself down, but I do NOT like to let others down. So, here is my plan, and I will report back later. Walk/jog one hour in my neighborhood. AND a 30 minute Gillian Michaels DVD, which incorporates weights. The dvd kicks my butt, which is what I need. AND, I'm going to follow your lead and have a light day on calories -- very, very clean foods and lots of water.

Bobbi - good luck with your fast today. You will be in my thoughts tomorrow! Is your brother doing well since his diagnosis? I hope so!

Diva - hope race goes well today. I agree with the rest... it makes me tired to think about it. I'll be struggling through my planned walk/jog!

Everyone else... have a great day. I better get some water in me and get out the door!:exercise:

I'll be reporting back about calories and exercise... gotta do that to get back on track.
