48 g of fiber? Holy cow. If it doesnt affect your pooping, fantastic, but I would try and figure out how much you were eating before and work up in 5 g increments every few days. I went from about 10 g of fiber, to about 25-35 practically overnight. It wasbad. Very very bad. :(

rai 03-12-2007 12:10 AM

Yesterday was a good day. I stayed on track at ESPN Zone. But today...well that is another study. I went to a play tonight at the Goodmen Theatre (Rabbit Hole is the name of the play. I really enjoyed it), and after the play my husband and I decided to go to a restaurant and share a slice of chocolate. Well, I'm just upset because the cake was not too good. It eas really dry, but I still ate it. So now I feel as if I just wasted a whole bunch of calories. Plus, tomorrow is my weigh in day. :( And on top of that I had about 0.5 cup of nuts today. I need to leave the nuts alone too. The serving size is a tease.

Total Cal for Sunday: 1981
Fat: 75g (35% )
Carbs: 239g (44% )
Fiber: 26g
Protein: 101g (21%)

rai 03-12-2007 12:11 AM

Oh yeah, on a good note. I ran 3 miles today.

AnAbsoluteDiva 03-12-2007 04:01 AM

Total calories for Sunday were 560 with 14% coming from fat.

The race I was going to run on the 18th isn't happening this year so I found another on the 17th I signed up for. This one has mega hills (yuck!) so I have no idea how I'll do, but I'll get four good runs in this week before Saturday and hopefully I'll be able to finish without making an a$$ out of myself.

New date to quit smoking is March 25 so let's see how I do with food once I've quit. It didn't go too badly with that in February, but it was definitely tougher.

Anyway, three more hours of work and then five days off!

rockinrobin 03-12-2007 07:16 AM

Good morning everyone. I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend.

On the nuts issue again. They are really yummy. But they kinda play head games with me. I really don't get them. I know they have SUCH healthy components to them, but TO ME, the calories are just not worth it. You'd think it was ice cream or pasta, because I just can't stop at 5. 10 almonds at 70 calories, is just not worth it to me. It doesn't fill me. It just doesn't. I can have a huge plateful of veggies for the same 70 calories. I LIKE VOLUME.

abbyin, stay away from the bread. HAve something grilled or baked, like fish or chicken. Take 1/2 of the main course home. Or order a appetizer or 2 instead of a main. HAve salad with dressing on the side. Share a dessert. And ENJOY. It's your birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Angihas, I have no problems with my tummy from all the fiber I eat. Just the opposite. Everything is working really, really well.

Mami, your home elliptical is making me soooo jealous. I am very happy that you have it. My luncheon really was beautiful. The best part about it was that for the first time I felt just as well dressed as every other woman there. It felt great!!!! I had soooo many compliments there are too many to mention. One that stands out - "you always had a gorgeous face, now you've got the body to match". and another, coming from my good friends daughter who hasn't seen me in about 4 months, she's away at college. she said "You are so stunning, just stunning." Her father who was standing there kinda blushed and looked away and said "My daughter's right this time, you do look stunniing."

Bobbo, that is SUCH a good idea about freezing the wraps individually. Thank you so much. I eat them so infrequently that it just doesn't pay to buy them, because they do go bad. Of course I would eat them more frequently if I could find yours. I have no wal mart near me. Mine have 110 calories. Oh well.

Diva, good luck on your upcoming race!!! Hills and all, you will do just fine, I have NO doubt.

And the real good news, I pulled out of my minor stumble and managed to LOSE 2 1/2 lbs. Today being my weigh-in day.

Sunday's calories about 1200.

Have a great day ladies.

Bobbolink 03-12-2007 07:47 AM

Good Morning Girls!
Yesterday's calories were low again but sunday's usually are as I'm out the door fast in the morning and most the day.
Calories...802
Fat...19%
Fiber...38 grams
Vitamin Mix ~ Fiber One ~ Applesauce
Lunch: Turkey breast on toast with lettuce/dijon mustard

(DH is a fantastic cook and he had Pheasant dinner ready when I got home.)

Supper: Pheasant ~ Fried Onions ~ Winter Squash ~ salad with Balsamic Vinegar & Olive Oil.
Evening snack: Applesauce/Pudding/FF/SF Cool whip topped with Fiber One.
Hot milk at bedtime.

Claudia... Sometimes this back fires on me and I end up with too little calories at the end of the day. I like volume just like Robin and I find it so easy to eat lots of food and still stay under my calorie limit.
Bobbi, you are quite a master at substitution, which I think is really key to losing or keeping weight at bay. That way our taste buds and stomachs still get the taste and feel of lots of food, but we're not ingesting as many unnecessary calories and unhealthy fat.

Walking...what's HFCS mean? Great fiber count at 48 grams. I have to agree with Robin on the fiber issue, adding more fiber to my menu didn't give me the runs. I think it might affect people differently, maybe people that live mostly on junk foods would get the trots?
Robin...Did you try googling the Flat Outs? They show you where you can purchase these on their site.

I have to get my cholesterol checked this morning so I'm missing my morning pot of coffee and breakfast. DH is brewing the coffee now, I think I'll go choke him.:rollpin:

AnAbsoluteDiva 03-12-2007 08:24 AM

Bobbi,

Don't choke the hubby!

Choke the ding-dong that first harvested nuts.

;-)

littlered 03-12-2007 09:00 AM

Good morning everyone.

Diva, how do you survive on that few calories? Aren't you starved? :yikes:

I can do alot less than I have been, without a problem. I have been trying to get the area I have been told by most people, for a starting point.
Just been doing this for 2 weeks. I just got on the scale, It looks lower today. Might wait till Curves to check it again.

Yesterdays calories 1399
fat 25%
carb 57%
protein 18%
fiber 39

I don't know if changing the amount of fiber all at once does bad things. But I drank 80 oz of water. Got up to go 4 times!
I figured that was coming.

talk later, have a good Monday.

Angielynne 03-12-2007 09:41 AM

Great job to all of you that have lost this pst week ..way to go!

I haven't been posting this week because I'm really depressed that my scale still hasn't budged and it's been like 2 1/2 weeks now stuck at 192. I do feel a bit better because I got out the measuring tape this morning and I have lost inches from all over...so I guess that's better than seeing the scale move.

I've also been feeling so yucky lately, so I decided to do a colon cleanse (colonix) after reading great things about it on other boards. Maybe that will help get give me a jump start! :-)

rai 03-12-2007 09:42 AM

Got on the scale this morning and I am down 3 pounds! I only have one more pound to go before I am at my first mini-goal of 170.

Diva, why are you eating so few calories? Are you still not feeling well? What distance is the race that you are running?

I think I am wiith the crew that are banning nuts!

Did anyone see 300? Great movie.

alinnell 03-12-2007 09:54 AM

Robin and Rai~congrats on the loss!!!

Yes, Diva~those calories are way too low to be healthy.

Bobbi~hope those numbers come in good for you. And HCFS is high fructose corn syrup.

Walking~that's a lot of fiber!

My report: I did okay calorie wise yesterday. Stayed away from the nuts and roasted some fresh green beans with EVOO and salt, pepper and onion powder. DD proclaimed "these are like French fries" and "if you fixed vegetables like this all the time, I'd eat more of them." So, I'll be experimenting with other veggies. Weight crept back up to 141, but that is less than my usual post-weekend weight (143), so I'm happy.

abbyin 03-12-2007 10:11 AM

Thanks Allison, Diva and RockinRobin for the great ideas for cutting some calories at my B-Day Dinner. With all that in mind, I think I will get on some restaurant websites and check out their menus. That way I can kind of have in mind what I will eat before I go. Oh, Happy Birthday to you too Allison! :bday2you:

Everyone have a great day!

AnAbsoluteDiva 03-12-2007 10:34 AM

Hey guys,

Yeah... the calories seem low. But it works for me. The day before I ate 1493 calories or something like that and then the next day not so much. On days I work out, I seem to be less hungry.

But don't you worry none... I'm sure today I'll eat more and tomorrow even more.

It doesn't FEEL unhealthy. Feels more like giving the body what it needs, and nothing more.

srmb60 03-12-2007 10:44 AM

Well over 1800 cals and that included two 'dessert with coffee' functions. I'd forgotten about one. I woulda never had that beer if I'd remembered we still had to go out.

zenor77 03-12-2007 12:25 PM

Good morning!

I didn't keep track of my cals yesterday; too itchy to care. Oh, well, I didn't go crazy. At least I don't think I did.:dizzy:

Allison & Abbyin--HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Littlered-- I love tofu and eat it almost every day. Since you've never tried it I'd taste the mousse and then add a little cinnamon to the recipe if it's too tofu-y for you. It's only 105 cals per serving. I hope you like it!

On the discusion of nuts, I really like pistascios. I only eat them maybe twice a week and I only eat 1/2 of a serving. I find them satisfying, but I think the struggle to get them out of thier shells helps me eat them slowly. :D Plus, they are a good source of iron, which is good since I eat very little meat.

srmb60 03-12-2007 11:11 PM

I'm going to bed at just about 1100 cals. I'll eat smarter tomorrow.

I think I need to check out those birthdays!

rockinrobin 03-13-2007 08:25 AM

Good morning everyone!!!

Had a real good on plan day yesterday. Felt good and strong and determined. I love when the day goes that way as opposed to fighting the urges all day long.

Monday's calories - about 1150.

Have a great and healthy and safe day girls!!!!!

Bobbolink 03-13-2007 08:49 AM

Good Morning Girls!
Monday's Journal
Calories...1,108 Fat...20% Fiber...58grams
Breakfast:
Fiber One dry with dehydrated bananas/strawberries. (I found these yesterday in the baby food section. They have a bunch of fruits dehydrated for toddler snacks) I mixed in a serving with the Fiber One and it's great for nibbling plus adds one serving of fruit @ 25 calories.
Lunch:
Turkey Sandwich w/lettuce & Dijon. I zapped two serving of frozen stir-fry veggies in the micowave with a chicken broth made with a bouillion cube. It was good but the sodium was high (1 cube has 1100mg of sodium) Does anyone know of a product that has lower sodium? Otherwise I'll cut one in half next time.
Supper:
The last of the Chicken Veggie Soup (I was getting sick of it, made too big of a batch), salad with Olive oil/vingar.
Snack: Applesauce/Cool Whip/Pudding topped with F.One
Evening snack: Popcorn (sodium is only 280mg)
FF Milk
Rai... :congrat: Congrats on the 3 pound loss!
Allison... I won't know my cholesterol numbers for a couple of days. Doc was impressed with how healthy I was, really good blood pressure and heart. He twisted my arm into scheduling a colonoscopy, yuk! On Sunday I have to drink all that yukky stuff to cleanse, then Monday morning I'll have the procedure done.
Quote:

Bobbi~hope those numbers come in good for you. And HCFS is high fructose corn syrup.
Diva... I have lots of days that I don't reach 1200 calories and I feel the same way. Sometimes I'm not hungry but eat just to get my calories in.
Quote:

It doesn't FEEL unhealthy. Feels more like giving the body what it needs, and nothing more.
Robin...Was that you that just had the colonoscopy? If so, tell me it doesn't hurt!
Yesterday while waiting for my prescription for my colonoscopy cleanser I noticed a new book out called "The Fiber35 Diet". Has anyone heard of this? I googled it when I got home and the plan is all around getting 35grams or more of fiber daily. Many of us already do that, I was wondering if anyone read this book?
Hello everyone, hope you all have a great and well planned day.

srmb60 03-13-2007 08:57 AM

I was fiddling with fitday this morning. My average for the last week is almost 1800 cals but for the last 2 weeks it's only 16-something. Creeping creeping ... must stop the creeping!

littlered 03-13-2007 09:40 AM

Bobbo,

I had the test last year. I did not do well with the Colon Cleanser. Made me throw up.
The test was easy.
I was so terrified of it. Mine was both ends, at the same time.
The Dr. gave me a sedative called Twilight. Thank God for it!
I went in the operating room, talked a min. and The next thing I remember was waking up. No side affects;)
You might do well if they give you Twilight.

Yesterdays total.
Calories 1475
Fat 30% to high again.
Carbs 48%
Protein 22%
Fiber 48 gr.

I went to Curves yesterday. and worked an extra 20 min. at home.

I am still watching my blood pressure. normal = 118/79 pulse 99
At Curves my numbers got weird... 123/90 pulse 150 That DID concern me. I am going to keep watching this. and see the Dr. Next month.
I am Keeping a log to show the Dr.

Fitday says my calories for the last two weeks average @ 1412.
I am told to eat 1600 cal per day. would that really make a difference in my weight loss?

Wow its supposed to hit 65 degrees today and sunny! :cp: :cp:
I have a yard thats a total mess. I will get out today to work on it. The electric company Is CUTTING down a very large oak in back. What a mess.

Makes my little yard look lots bigger. I guess I Will have to rent a roller to smooth the yard out, after those large chunks hit the ground. lots of large dents.

more later.
Theresa

have a nice day!

srmb60 03-13-2007 09:44 AM

Theresa ... are you losing? are you hungry? weak? tired? able to do all the things you need to do?

alinnell 03-13-2007 09:51 AM

I'm sure I'll be doing the colonoscopy thing very soon, too. Not something that I look forward to, though. I think it is standard practice to sedate, though~right Susan? You should know. But I have heard that the drink is pretty nasty. Be sure that you're really near a toilet before you start drinking it! I've heard it goes through you a lot quicker than you'd imagine.

srmb60 03-13-2007 09:59 AM

Oh yes they sedate you. You have to relax for the scope to go ... very far ... at all ...

The prep is the worst. Sip sip sip and have something to sip inbetween. I've heard that apple juice is good. Lots of folks never drink it again.
If you have a touchy swirly tummy, you can take gravol ... um ... Dimenhydrinate .... just 25 mgs or so.

Susan, Most of the time I feel real good. Yesterday, I was not feeling the same energy. felt weak, during workout.

I have lost 2 lbs. since march 1 st. It could be better, I am still learning what to do. how to eat. :o

hungry, most of the time I am ok.

AnAbsoluteDiva 03-13-2007 11:16 AM

I was married once.

I've had all the colonoscopies a girl can handle.

;-)

AnAbsoluteDiva 03-13-2007 11:21 AM

Total calories yesterday were 563 with 16% coming from fat (gotta love the tilapia).

I have a hot date tonight with a hot guy who looks just like Tim Matheson. We're hitting a steakhouse here in Mystic. I've averaged 919 calories per day over the past week, so I have earned my cheesecake and Merlot. That's if I like him. No sense in ordering yet another course if it means you're sitting across the table from a guy who's making your skin crawl.

My race is Saturday (hills and all) so another day at the gym today working legs and glutes (I'll be garbage come Thursday) and a good 4+ mile run. Would love to break 4.5 today, and you never know! It could happen!

Have a great day, kids.

srmb60 03-13-2007 11:45 AM

Theresa ... weak is not good. You have to have the energy to carry on. Eat your 1600. And you don't have to be hungry. Go have some tilapia with Diva. ;) Eat the whole can of tuna and get ye some cottage cheese!
Two pounds in March is fabulous!

zenor77 03-13-2007 11:45 AM

Good Morning Ladies!

Calories for Monday: 1455

Not too bad and I went for my usual lunch time walk, but I swear I almost melted. It was 90 degrees again! :?: Thankfully it's supposed to be in the mid-70's today and back to normal tomorrow (50's and 60's.) My body has never been able to handle extreme heat very well.

I'm going to try and get in my lunch time walk every day this week (well, every work day at least.) We'll see how that goes. At most, I've been able to squeeze it in 4 times a week.

The next goal that I'm really trying to reach is 179lbs (6 more to go.) At this weight my BMI will be "overweight" vursus "obese." I'm very excited to be so close! I haven't seen a weight this low in years. So, I must get more exercise to make sure I can keep going down.

srmb60 03-13-2007 11:51 AM

Somebody in maintainers calls that virgin pounds. Zenor's into virgin pounds!

littlered 03-13-2007 11:58 AM

Susan,
what is tilapia? I do eat tuna often.

maybe I need more Protein? Can one eat too much Fish? I eat mostly fish and chicken.

littlered 03-13-2007 12:05 PM

Zenor,
I can't wait till I am not on the obese list. I have a long ways to go. :( :)

Have you tried walking in the malls?
here in ohio you can walk the malls before they open. Keeps one out of the heat.
I go to the garage, and walk the treadmill. ;)

Theresa

alinnell 03-13-2007 12:23 PM

zenor77~you must live nearby because we were over 90 yesterday also.

srmb60 03-13-2007 01:17 PM

Tilapia is a white fish. Tuna, other fish, chicken ... they're where it's at Theresa. Lean proteins and things that grow. Simple, clean and soon ... you'll be slender!

littlered 03-13-2007 01:24 PM

Susan,

never heard of the fish Tilapia. Maybe its something hard to find in my area. (very small town)
I like fish, and will continue to eat often. :)

I tried catfish last night. Yuk! my dog liked it. :)

srmb60 03-13-2007 01:29 PM

Fish is about like flowers ... everybody calls it something different. I think mine is Highliner ... four fillets to a sleeve. Ask for it. That's the only way we got soy products in our small town grocer.

AnAbsoluteDiva 03-13-2007 02:51 PM

Tilapia is fish. White fish. You can eat most fish but swordfish or other large fish should be limited to once or twice a month.

Im so afraid to eat too little on the days I run, Im amazed that you dont have any trouble with that. (kidding:) Do you lose weight this way-is your ticker accurate? Me? Id gain doing that, LOL!!!! Awesome for you though!

AnAbsoluteDiva 03-13-2007 05:50 PM

Mamabanana,

I'm confused. You'd gain weight running? Or eating less calories? My ticker is accurate. I know because the weight has stuck at that number three consecutive days at different times throughout the day.

I had my bodyfat test as well and it seems I've gained close to six pounds of muscle in 2.5 months. So in terms of "weight", had I not been working out, I'd be at about 129 right now.

I don't know what my ultimate weight will be because I don't want to stop lifting, but when the Size 4 jeans are loose at the waist, I'm good to go!

zenor77 03-13-2007 09:09 PM

Susan--You gave me the biggest laugh of the day! Virgin pounds! :D

Theresa--Unfortunately I don't think our mall here opens early for walkers, but I may check into it. I also agree with everyone else, Fish is wonderful! I eat it as much as possible. Tilapia is great too because it hasn't been over fished and is still plentiful. Sorry, there was my little eco-plug for the day. :o

Allison--Have you ever seen Sideways? That's the area I live in. We must be somewhat close if it was that hot where you are too. It was just awful! I'm wimpy when it comes to the heat.

Diva--Size 4 jeans? Wow! That is awesome! Great job on all the muscle you've gained too! :carrot:

mamabanana 03-13-2007 09:10 PM

I know, it IS strange, but for me, the less I eat AND when I run, I gain...truly. I know it changes my shape and obviously, SO much better than NOT exercising, but when I eat too little, I fear the dreaded starvation mode, my body clings on for dear life...I blame it on my Irish heritage and the whole potato famine issue, ruining metabolisms of Irish people everywhere, LOL!!! Anyway, Im glad it works for you, youre rocking! Have you been losing steadily this way? I hear you about the 4's. Im waiting for mine to be loose too, LOL. This time last year, I had very tight 2's, but no more. It seems the smaller you get, the more like 3-4 pounds can practically squeeze you out of the 4's- at least thats my experience.
