Okay, I'm going to introduce myself here. I post from time to time in calorie counters but haven't been on the chat in ages. Don't know if I'll manage to stick around as I post a lot in 300+ and the 100 pound club.
I'm 41, college professor, married with no kids and 2 dogs, and someone who has struggled with weight my whole life. I was obese from my sophomore year in college, tried a couple times to lose (always ended up heavier than I started) and then gave up and let myself get really fat! I've never liked to exercise and after giving up on weight loss just let myself eat whatever I wanted. Those days are over. I've lost almost 120 pounds, and while I know I will be dealing with food issues forever I hope I never get back there again. My diet is completely different than it used to be, and while I count calories I am also focused on nutrition. I exercise regularly (though it's a fight!) |
Yesterday was a good day. I stayed within my calories and even had enough for a piece of pie. Today was weigh in day, and I'm down 2 pounds. I'm happy that something finally came off. Today has started off okay. I ended up going to breakfast with my brother (who is the type that can eat literally anything and barely gain), and I had a sun-dried tomato bagel with veggie cream cheese. I've only eaten half of it right now, and I'm waiting to have the other half later. I still have to be careful today, but I think I can manage.
Aphil: Thanks for your comment. I really appreciate it. |
Aphil~you're right. I need to motivate myself and just go to a gym and frankly, just do it. I need to. I wonder if I will.......
Fat in Hong Kong~if you didn't live so far away, we could work out together. But that darn ocean just gets in the way!!! Robin~thanks for the kick. I guess I should either sign up for that boot camp or get out the yellow pages and go visit some gyms to decide what one is right for me. I didn't check my calories yesterday, but I'm sure I was low. My weight is back down almost to ticker weight. Fridays are usually my bad day due to going to lunch with DH, but dinner will be very light because we're going to my DS's Karate belt ceremony. He has moved up to red belt. Tonight's ceremony will be interesting. Two girls will be getting their black belts. I imagine DS should be ready for his black belt in about 2 years. The Sensei really makes you work for that one! These girls were at the dojo every day for at least 2 hours a day for the past 6 months practicing for their belt test. Everyone have a wonderful day! |
Allison-there is martial arts taught at the athletic club where I teach dance, just on different nights. I may mention it to my husband...I think he would enjoy it. :)
|
There's oatmeal raisin cookies in the kitchen. I'll go hide them somewhere inconvenient. For someone my height, that's not too hard ;)
I went for a walk/jog tonight. Short and chilly but a start. I really need cardio. |
Food today:
B-protein shake L-turkey and vegetables, yogurt S-1 cup orange juice D-extra lean beef with BBQ sauce, whole grain roll, baby carrots I haven't had my evening snack yet, but it will be a yogurt and fruit Exercise today was 55 minutes of strength training. No time for cardio today...tomorrow is the weekend and DH will be home all day, so I'll double it up then. :) |
Hi, hope everyone had a nice day. The sun was shining! :sunny:
Thats good where I live. lots of flooding going on. Boy,I am I glad I don't live on the other side of town. What a mess it was. I did my work out today. Knowing I probably can't make it to curves in the a.m. They do have funny hours of business. Will do the treadmill. Sat and Sunday. Kept the calories low, just was to busy to pay attention to eating. Did get to play with the granddaughter today! Got to love being a new grandma. |
Calories were 1323 today higher than i would have liked but better than i though it would be today. My boss provided a pizza lunch today and only ate 1 1/2 slices.
I am going to try to spend some time on my eliptical tomorrow (after i dust away the cobwebs). I have really been slacking, i keep telling myself that i will do something but end up on the couch watchin the boob tube. Once the weather warms up i will start walking again but till then i have to get motivated to do something else. |
cablgurl - wow, those calories sound pretty good to me!
Hi all, I weigh on Fridays, and I wasn't to thrilled to be up... just a quarter of a pound, but it's still discouraging. I want to see the scale move down not up! I've had an extremely busy work week and have gotten home around 7 or later every night (I go in at 7:30). So the little bit of evenings I've had left have consisted of a quick dinner and making moves to get in bed. This week has made me realize I must exercise or the scale will not be my friend. I've been so busy that I haven't overindulged in food (except one day), and yet I still gained. So I need to get back on track with exercise tomorrow. Glad to hear everyone else is having a good week! Robin, it's interesting that you mentioned depression in regards to my symptoms; that was one option my doctor and I explored. Dr. even had me try zoloft to see if it would help. I actually thought I was depressed, but looking back it seems to have been a case of which comes first...the chicken or the egg? Even though I believe I was mildly depressed, I think it was a result of my symptoms not the other way around. It was darned depressing to have such weakness that I could not open a jar or get up the stairs in the house without pain. I remember a very low point when I was in bed, and my pillow fell off onto the floor. I leaned over to pick it up, and I literally could not clutch it tightly or lift it without a great effort. My hand was that weak and achy. It was at that point that my husband insisted I see a doctor. I remember thinking, Oh I must just be getting older... aches and pains are part of aging (mind you, I was not yet 35!), or well, maybe I'm just a little depressed and my energy level is low. But as the symptoms progressed and worsened, I truly felt there was something amiss in my body. I still believe that. I never did get any answers and even now, typing this, I feel awkward revealing all of this. I haven't talked about it much, except with DH, my family, and closest friends. I think the lack of any diagnosis has always made me feel somewhat guilty (like I'm a hypochondriac) for talking about being sick when I couldn't call it anything. Anyway, I think (and hope/pray) it's behind now, at least for the most part. I certainly the symptoms are behind you too! To all - my goal for the weekend is to have good workouts both days and make healthy choices food-wise. I need to get out of my lacksadaisical (sp?) weekend eating habits ('Oh, it Saturday, what the heck, I can crack down on Monday'). I'm posting it here to make myself a little more accountable. Hope everyone has a great weekend... good night! |
Hi all,
I'm too tired to read all the posts right now...just got back from 4 hours of skating, and was really trying to make the whole thing a workout as much as possible, so I am wiped! My sister had severe back problems at work this morning, so I spent most of the day with picking her up, taking her to the chiropractor, then to get her car, follow her home, etc. Did not get my exact calorie count today, but ate healthy and feel confident I was under my limit. Got 20 mins on my sister's recumbent stationary bike this afternoon, plus the skating already mentioned. Had my very first weekly weigh-in today....six pounds down! Woohoo! :carrot: I kept getting off and on the scale to make sure it wasn't a mistake, lol. Sorry, it's the first time the scale has gone down in years, so I'm a little excited. I'll be back tomorrow to catch up on posts, but just had to stop in quick before bed and share the good news on my first weight loss. Thanks to you all for your advice and encouragement for a CC newbie! Cheryl |
Gosh........I was floored when I saw all the posts! My internet has been down since I last posted and we have an additional 12.5 inches snow yesterday. I'll just post my calories for the last two days and yesterday's menu. It'll take a bit of reading to catch up with all of you.
Thursday: Calories...1,172 Fat...24% Fiber...60 grams Protein...36% Friday: Calories... 1,047 (Don't preach, I know they are low but we were outside shoveling and snow blowing a good part of the day) Fat...25% Fiber...59 grams Protein...37% Vitamins/Salmon Oil & Fiber supplements Fiber One cereal-dry Egg White Omelet with Chipotle cheese & Peach/ Pineapple Salsa, Low Cal. Toast Lunch: Homemade Vegetable soup, Turkey Mesquite Sandwich on toast with lettuce and Dijon mustard. Snack: Toasted Flat Out with Cinnamon & Stevia Supper: Elk Burger on Low Cal bun, pork & beans, large lettuce salad with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Evening snack: Pistachio pudding with FF Cool Whip and sprinkle with Fiber One. I'm going to catch up on everyone's post and get back later to gab. |
Cheryl-congrats on the FABULOUS weigh in!!!!!!
I KNEW you could do this!!!!! |
Good morning everyone. I can't call yesterday a good one, too many cookies.
So ... on with the next! |
yes, congrats cheryl...aweome week! 4 hours of skating? geez i bet you're sore/tired now :)
speaking of congrats...aphil, seems like you are doing AWESOME lately...every time i read a post of yours, the food is amazing and the exercise is great....you will be ready for that show in no time!! no congrats to myself...COMPLETELY fell off the wagon last night; i'm not talking a little bit of ice cream or too much sugar...i'm talking 1/2 pan of brownies, 1/2 bag of big chips, and lots more kind of fell off the wagon. sometimes it amazes myself how much i can eat without getting sick, not trying to by cynical, it just honestly amazes me. i was so in distress after getting a cortisone shot in my back for my herniated disc...just so tired of all the constant pain. however, unlike my usual binges that last a week, i have written a big '1500' on my hand to remind myself of my commitment to eat less than 1500 cal today. one day at a time :) i WILL get to my birthday goal of 150 (april 23). ok enough complaining, sorry i get carried away sometimes. bobb0link: hope you're all dug out; i just took my car out for the first time since the storm round 2 started, and half of the small city streets STILL aren't plowed well! walkingtolose: don't feel awkward spilling your guts on here...i have found in my two short weeks that it really helps to be able to get stuff off your chest on here, even stuff you wouldn't tell other people! littlered: um....cutest granddaughter ever? yup, i think you win. (sorry to all the other grandmas....haven't seen pics of your little ones!) off to study for midterms next week! |
I'm back to gab for a very short time, DH is eager to go into town to run errand and get our Fitness session in. (The roads are finally opened up including the Interstate)
Robin...You consistantly stay around 1200 calories, good job! It was fun to read your short Bio, Now I can joke with you about using the bathroom. With 3 teenaged girls you problably never get to use it. I have a red bucket you can borrow! Cablegurl...I checked out your "Looneyspoons & Crazyplates" cookbooks, they do look fun and those two girls really have something going. I could see some of the pages on their web and I like all the tips they give. If I didn't already have a zillion cookbooks, I'd order one. I see you can buy them pretty cheap on E-bay. FatinHong Kong...How many stones make a pound? Mami...Are you tired of the snow yet? I can't imagine cooking without vegetables, makes me wonder what his mama fed him as a youth. Can you blend some up and sneak into meatloaf, etc. ? Diva...We're so glad to see you back among the living again! :grouphug: Now I have to get my dictionary out again! For all you newbies here, Diva is our Spelling Bee Queen. Athenac...I love the picture of the baby Tiger & Chimp. I just saw the story about them on the T.V. Green beans are my favorite veggies too, I use the ICBITBspray and sprinkle with garlic seasonings, yum! I'll have to try the Feta cheese, I have a new package in the frig not yet opened. Littlered...15 minutes of exercise is better than nothing. I for one hate to exercise and that's how I started out on the Nordic Track in my basement. It's not that I couldn't do more than 15 minutes, it's because I HATED to exercise and 15 minutes seemed like an hour. It'll get easier, trust me.! Allison... Thanks for the lasagna recipe, we both love it. This summer I made it with long slices of zucchini instead of noodles and not only cut the calories but it was delicious, DH didn't even know it was zucchini until I told him. Susan...I still have a 8-Track player and lots of tapes in my basement, wish I had all the money I invested in tapes. I love the "Kick Butt" animation on your last post. How did you get it on this thread? The Pickle...:welcome: Self Sabotager are common here, we all do it sooner or later. Cheryl... Challenges are great motivators and you have about 4 months to reach your 30 pound goal. That's about 1.9 pounds a week and easy to do if you keep your calories down and exercise up, good luck. Allison...It was fun reading your short Bio too, who's on the picture with you? Walking...Glad you're on the mend, with the medical technology we have it's surprising they couldn't pinpoint it. DH is ready to go and I haven't even showered yet, gotta run. I've only read the first two pages of four on this new thread, I'll have to catch up with the rest of you tomorrow. See Ya, Bobbi |

Good morning everyone!!
Bobbi~I'm glad you liked the lasagna--I'll have to try it with zucchini. The girl in the photo with me is DD. She's 16. I used that photo as a before and after type thing on another thread and then decided to add it to my signature. Here is the before/after again. We belong to an organization of mothers and daughters and each year we have a tea. These photos were taken at the tea. So from November 2005 to November 2006 here is my progress: Attachment 25034Attachment 25035 DS got his new Karate belt last night (red) and he wanted to go to Applebee's for dinner afterward. DD is a hostess there and she was able to take a break and eat with us. It was nice, but the calories were high from two meals out and my weight is back up this morning. I'll be really good today, though. I'm off in a bit to get my hair done. Cheryl~congrats on the loss!!! :bravo: chloeone~don't feel bad about falling off the wagon--just get right back on. See my quote on my signature. Susan~step away from the cookies!!! :coach: One thing that our dinner at Applebee's did for me was that it put me in the mood for dinner salads again!!!!!! DH had a salad and I had an appetizer and we split each. The salad was soooooo good. I've got a lot of salad fixins on my grocery list for today. It's been so cold lately that I just don't want salad, but I think I'm finally over that! Next week, we'll have salad at least twice for dinner and we'll go back to daily (except Friday) lunch salads. This may be the spur I need!!! Have a wonderful day everyone! |
Good Morning.
Hope all is well for everyone today. First off, I have a little question. Which piece of exercise equipment do you think is the best for at home...Including as one that can grow with me as I get stronger? I do have some problems with a bad knee. Hereditary Osteoporosis. Will have surgery somewhere in the future. I am trying hard to loose the weight be for that has to happen. Cloeone, I think my granddaughter is the cutest, No... I not prejudiced! :D I would love to see everyones pics of their little ones too. Skinny in hong kong... How are you today? Haven't heard much lately. I made it the 2nd day at CURVES. Yes, I do feel like I am being stared at. Oh well! They will just have a good pic of me in their head. You should try one of the places for like a week.... some have a 1 week trial. If you are uncomfortable. check out somewhere else. To bad you are not here in Ohio. you could join Magan and me. Bobolink, How long did it take you to get in more time? on the exerciser in the basement? I am going to try to do it 2 times a day. As long as my knee lets me. have to go cook a turkey breast! here is my calories average for the week. Average Calories Total: 1360 per day. |
I am off to a good start for today, spent 20 mins on the eliptical i think i may do another 20 this evening too. Not to worried bout the calories today, i'm zagging today.
bobbi-i highly recommend the Podleski sisters books, i use them all the time if you are able to pick any of them up i'm sure they will become your faves too. cheryl-GREAT JOB!!!!:carrot: |
Cheryl - CONGRATS on 6 lb. loss!! That is excellent!! Reading about others' successes is so motivating to me, and I'm sure to everyone else too. Allison, you look so good in your pics (both, but yes, especially the second "after" one).
Bobbi and Chloe - thanks for the encouraging words about my health. I agree it's strange not to be able to pinpoint something in this day and age. I did have a borderline positive test for lupus, which my sister has since age 24, but a rheumotologist ruled that out (no inflammation in my bloodwork). At least my symptoms have diminshed almost entirely. I mainly posted about it because, even now, I feel so much less fit. I still exercise of course; the intensity is just much lower. Anyway, I'm off to have a healthy lunch and a nice long walk (I coerced my husband into joining me-- not an easy feat). Have a great Saturday girls, and keep up all the healthy living! |
Bobbi ... the butt kicker is available .... before you post, click go advanced and then ask for more in the icon box. There's tons of them.
I'm at work ssshhh .... |
littlered~I'd vote for either a treadmill or a cross country ski machine. They would both be better on your knee that either an elliptical or rowing machine. But then there's always a bowflex....
|
Quote:
Alinnell, Thanks for the vote of the treadmill. Got that! :tread: next question, In the opinion of all your experences... Is it good to wear a knee brace, when working out? OH! and any favorite low fat desserts. What to eat when that sweet tooth is making you nuts? :sp: |
I would leave the leg brace decision up to your doctor.
I don't really have that much of a sweet tooth, but every once in a while I'll have a bowl of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and Kaluah. Sorry, not low fat although I did buy a jar of Walden's zero calorie chocolate sauce. I just haven't opened it yet. And I could buy lower fat versions of the ice cream. But since I don't go nuts over it, I can have a carton sitting around for months and no one opens it! Oh, and the other day, I made a batch of cookies using half butter and half Z Trim, so that was lower in calories and fat that way. Instead of chocolate chips, I used Trader Joe's chocolate covered cherries. Oh, decadent! It only made 18 cookies, so I shared with my kid's friends and then there were only a couple left for me. |
Thanks everyone for the cheers on the weight loss!
Aphil, thanks for all your help and encouragement this week. It really has meant a lot to me, and hearing of your workouts inspires me not to give up, and to keep going when I want to quit. I'm also going to check out the protein shakes when I'm at the store next. That actually sounds like it might be a better breakfast than the yogurt or banana I've been eating, or at least something for a change once in a while. Cablgurl, great job on the elliptical! Woohoo! :dancer: Littlered, nice work with the calories this week! What type of exercise would you like to do? I rode my sister's recumbant stationary bike yesterday. It seemed easy on the knees (mine are frequently abused), but on hers, the seat wasn't that comfy after about 10 minutes, and my butt was asleep by the end of 20, lol. Whatever you think you'd like, give it a nice long test in the store, or at the gym, before you buy. If your knee is real bad, you can probably still move around in a swimming pool, so remember that option, if there's a community pool or YMCA nearby. Walking2lose, I am glad to hear that you are getting some relief from your symptoms! I know I was not motivated to get out and ride my bike today, as I am still sore from skating, but I just kicked my own butt and did it anyway, and once I got going, I was glad I did it! Chloeone, don't worry about it. The great thing about CC is, if you fall off, it's not like Atkins where you've messed it up and have to start all over. You can just jump in the next day or the next meal and you're right back on track! Just keep your goal in mind, and think how good you will feel when you hit that 150 mark! Give the brownies to your skinniest friend.... Bobbi, thanks for the vote of confidence! Having the bike ride and a mini-goal for the weight loss is definitely helping to keep me motivated this week! Alinnell, you look beautiful in your pictures! For salads, one thing I've been enjoying this week is a little hot stir "fried" (minus the oil, actually just steamed then browned in a skillet) veggies and chicken on top of a bed of salad greens, instead of rice, with garlic and pepper on top for seasoning. I have never been much of a salad eater, but that tastes good to me, and I bet you could come up with even better ideas for getting your salads in! :) (Susan, I'm whispering so no one at work will know you're reading this... I just wanted to say that from what I've seen of your posts so far, you're always helpful and that you've been an inspiration to me...thank you!) I hope everyone is having a great day today. I will check in with you all later! I'm off to try and get my bike adjusted, so it might be more comfortable to ride. Got 4 miles in today, and it was a lot easier since I adjusted the seat height, but I was doing a lot of whining by the end of it, I confess. The seat is about as comfortable as a fence post! Gonna go put some rubbing alcohol on my sore old legs, so that I'll be able to move tomorrow. Cheryl |
littlered-sweets are my weakness i have a few low fat recipes this is one of my faves
Marshmallow Squares 1 pkg (400g) marshmallows 1/3 cup light margarine or butter 1 tsp vanilla 1 box (525g) Oatmeal Crisp Raisin cereal 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips In a large saucepan, melt marshmallows and margarine over med heat, stirring constantly. For crunchy squars store in an airtight container in refrigerator. For chewy squares store at room temp. Makes 24 squares per square-165 calories, 3.2g fat, 0.9g sat. fat, 2.3g protein, 32.1g carbs, 1.5g fiber, 0mg chol, 121.6mg sodium, 17% calories from fat hope you enjoy them! |
Yesterday's calories were 1071 with 28% coming from fat.
Hetox Level was at 7 this morning until I caught sight of a man at the produce section who didn't know how to pick out mangos. Hetox Level dropped to 4 within 20 minutes and I'm sure by tomorrow afternoon, Hetox Level will be at 2. Mango Man and I are doing lunch! ;-) |
Cheryl-instead of a premade shake I usually use a protein powder (like you can get at a health food place, etc.) with skim milk and ice in the blender. Sometimes, I use Myoplex Lite as well.
littlered-I also am a treadmill fan. Ours is in the garage with the weightlifting equipment (DH weightlifts, and I do as well, so over the years we have been gathering gym quality equipment.) We have a small tv out there, and I often watch a show or two while I am on it. It makes the time go by much, much quicker!!! Exercise today: 3 miles on treadmill-walking/jogging intervals Food: Breakfast-Canadian Bacon and whole wheat toast, yogurt Lunch-black beans in a "taco salad" (salsa, a couple baked chips, greens) Snack-a pear Dinner-1 piece lasagna Snack-yogurt and fruit |
Cheryl,
I am not sure yet what kind of exercises I will be doing in the future. At this point I will keep going to CURVES, and my garage, where my very old treadmill is. I seem to do well on it. Cablgurl, thanks for the idea about cereal bars!! Rice Crispy treats always were a big favorite here. Magan,( my dd) and I have been trying to think of some lo-cal-fat goodies that to stick to the ribs. I did not have the same cereal so I used BASIC 4. Just 6 cups. and MUST use dark chocolate chips. I haven't tried them yet. my calculations are it only has 112 cal per piece! 4 gr. fat. Have to go do 20 min. on the treadmill. That will make 40 min. today. THEN, I will have a small treat. ;) Can't wait to try it. Aphil, I have a sm. black and white TV in the garage. You will laugh, but that TV was my husband's XMAS present at the age 14. He just turned 50! and it works! I find it helps take the mind off what I am doing. Well I need to stay awake late tonight, thats why I am saving the last trip to the tread mill for now. Hubby gets home at 12:30 am tonight! Thats a GOOD THING. Normally it's 4 am. Got to have some energy. ; |
Oh boy, soooo much to catch up on.
Walkingtolose, I am really glad that your symptoms are mostly behind you. It must have been so incredibly frustrating to not get a diagnosis. I know I felt that way. Doctor after doctor, test after test. On one hand you're relieved it's nothing horrible and then on the other hand..... My symptoms are mostly gone, but have crept back to a lesser extent every now and then. Really almost nothing since I have lost all my weight. Who knows what was going on with me? I may never know. I'm just glad for the most part that they are history. Littlered I love the jello pudding sugar free 60 calorie puddings. Love um. I have one every day. I also like the Danon fat free/sugar free 60 calorie yogurts. Especially the raspberry and the blueberry. Bobbo, I guess I do pretty much stay at about 1200. I have got this thing down to a science practically. I eat the same breakfast every day. I eat one of 3 lunches everyday. And one of maybe 7 -10 dinners. And they are all within the same range. And then of course I have a few different snacks that I choose from. My weeks are mostly the same, but then of course there's the weekends. Ahh, the weekends. Today was actually about 1200 calories as well. But tomorrow will probably be another story. Big family dinner at the SIL and she's a real good cook/hostess. We shall see. I do plan on eating there, just how much remains to be seen. I haven't strayed in a long time. I really don't want to tomorrow either. But like I said we shall see what happens. I'll of course report on Monday. And I just can not believe all the snow you have to contend with. Was this a typical year for you guys or worse then ususal? Ummm, Cheryl the way you describe that seat, umm as comfortable as a fence post? - umm not to good, eh? Congratulations on a great weight loss. Hello to everyone else. I will try and keep up better this coming week. HAve a great rest of the weekend everybody. Stay safe and healthy. |
Well calories today are so high i don't even think i am going to add them up. It was UFC pay per view fight night and we hosted (we always host), so i had some pizza, nachos, and a beer. Back to my regular diet tomorrow. Its a good thing the pay per view events are only once a month!
|
Saturday's calories - 1066.
|
Well...my weigh in day is officially tomorrow, but I peeked today anyhow-and I am really excited! :carrot: I'll check again tomorrow, though, and see if there is any more change-and then I'll post the week's results tomorrow morning. :)
 Today I am dancing for my exercise-I have a private lesson to teach here in the home studio at 3:30pm, and I am going to try and get some extra technique work in alone today as well. |
GOOD MORNING GANG!
Yesterday's Journal: Exercise: Session at "Snap" Fitness club. Anybody else have these in your area? Calories...1,145 Fat...31% Fiber...47 grams Protein...37% Breakfast: Vitamins/Salmon Oil/Fiber Supplements Fiber One - dry (I usually have a large breakfast every morning but didn't have time yesterday) Lunch: Homemade Veggie Soup, Turkey breast sandwich on low cal toast, lettuce and mustard. Snack: Banana split made with Pistachio/Coconut pudding,(instead of ice cream) SF/FF Cool whip and sprinkled with Fiber One and of course the banana. The Fiber One on this makes it especially delicious! Supper: Roasted Chicken and Carrots, FF Cottage Cheese and FF Milk Evening Snack: Popcorn I finally changed my ticker, down another pound and added my "Biggest Loser's" ticker. I think I'll make my goal of hitting the 130's for the challenge. (The challenge ends March 24th) My weight has consistantly gone down every week and I have to thank all the fiber I eat for it. Chloe... Do you need to pull a "Dr. Phil" and dump all the Cinnamon Crunch Cereal, Brownies, Chips, etc.? I don't recall if you're a quantity eater like me, but you could so pig out substituting the sugar calories for healthier ones. By the way, have you been shoveling snow? I think Robin asked if we usually have this much snow, I don't know about the Twin Cities but we don't usually have this much in Southern Minnesota. One day of food is pretty much the same for me as any day except on Sundays. We always visit my dad and there's alway sweets with the coffee. It's rare that I eat it, only if he has Cheese Cake. That's like dangling a carrot in front of a donkey to me?:cloud9: Littlered... I have bad knees and bad feet and my Nordic Track cross country ski machine doesn't bother either. The ellipitic at our Fitness center kills me. I can't even do 30 seconds on it so stay away from them. Maybe you can try all the different kinds out at a fitness center, most places will give you a free week trial period. I don't remember who asked how long I stayed on the Ski machine, 15 minutes is all I ever did. (But I went like a bat out of :censored: Then we joined the Fitness center and I don't even use the Skier anymore. Hi Everyone, I'm on my way to Church and will see ya all tomorrow. |
Aw Cheryl! Thank you!
Yesterday was a blow out. I don't even know how to begin quantifying that. I have a phobia that is just tearing me to shreds since Friday (I'd better go to the depression threads ;)) So today, instead of sitting in the car for 7 or 8 hours to take the college boy back. DH has kindly agreed that would be best. He's adoreable have I mentioned that? I'm going to have a fitness nut day. Church, awesome food, lots of cardio, full body weights and a pharmaceutically enhanced nap ... I'm sorry I dumped all that on ya ... but it does feel better to make a plan and make it concrete ... or as permantent at type will allow. I need to keep my act together for a day or so. When my head's not so jiggly inside ... I'll come back and post some friendly encouraging stuff ... OK? |
I was up sick all night i think it may have been because of the junk food i ate lastnight. But i am back on track today had a shake for breakfast and just finished my first snack (an apple) for today. DH has taken the kids out for a few hours so i am going to get on the eliptical and do some house work. I am sure my tummy will feel better after a workout.
Does anyone else tend to feel sick after they have had a weak moment? |
Diva~do be careful at lunch!
DH and I got some walking in so I won't feel to guilty eating the lasagna this afternoon. Everyone have a great day! |
hello everyone! i am a newbie to this site starting today. i have been yoyo dieting for the past two years, and i originally lost 20 pounds but i gained most of it back since last summer. i know that i can lose the weight again if i try, but i have been having some difficulties in the past few months. i tried the atkins diet for a week but i didnt lose anything and i am not sure if it is the healthiest for me because i am on a sports team. so starting today i think i am going to try to stick with the low calorie diet, and i plan on having 1200-1500 calories a day. i really want to lose this weight, but i need support!
my main problem is that when i break my diet i feel guilty and just think to myself "well i broke it anyway so i should just pig out for the rest of the day and start tomorrow" and this happens over and over and i actually end up gaining weight instead of losing it as i had originally wanted to with the diet. does anyone have any tips for not breaking diets and going on binges like this? http://www.3fatchicks.net/img/bar076...5/138/158/.png |
Hi syncrosweetie!
My best advice for a "binge" episode, is to FORGET IT. Pretend it didn't happen. People usually deal with a binge by doing one of two things: ~Saying "heck with it" and eating everything in the house, because they "blew it" eating those 5 cookies anyhow... or ~Deciding to make up for it-by restricting their calories WAY too low the next day or two, and overexercising to make up for it. Neither is a good thing to do. If you do the first one, then you turned a molehill into a mountain. You messed up and did maybe 400-600 calories worth of damage-and dealt with it by making it 1,000 or more. The second choice sets you up for ANOTHER binge later-because you are going to end up too hungry. The best thing to do, is pretend it didn't happen-forgive yourself, and go on. If you mess up and have a piece of cake at a birthday party-don't let that piece of cake turn into 3 (plus nuts and candy and what have you...). Pretend it didn't happen, and have the chicken and salad that you originally planned on having for dinner. Just "go on". :) |
Syncrosweetie, welcome! :welcome2:
I've only been calorie counting for a little over a week, but it's working for me, and very easy to stick with, since I don't HAVE to give up all carbs or sugars or caffeine. I'm choosing more veggies and salads, less meat, leaner meat, etc, because I learned I can really fill up and eat frequently on that stuff, without going over on the calories. You'll find what works for you. You can do this! Cheryl |
Wow. My head is spinning from all the information. I have been reading for the last 30 min. :) Everyone here know so much. I hope one day I will be able to be as helpful as you all have been to me. I dont know much about calorie counting. I am starting tomarrow. So I have been reading a lot about it today. I also signed up for fitday. I saw a lot of people recomend it. The only thing I don't understand is how many calories I need. There is a lot of conflicting information out there. Some say I need 1200 some say I need up to 1600. Does anyone know for sure? Do I call my Dr? Do I just fiddle around until I lose weight? Well thank you ladies for all the motivation!
